    Hi. Just saw your video. Awesome. To date we hv been sending molds to casting and they inject. Now we are injecting ourselves. Any advice on why wax is going in creases and forming webbing spillage? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also how much powder do we apply? If there is talc on wax once removed from mold. Will that show in casting - washed off most of it. Thx again

    • @ClearMindJewellery
      @ClearMindJewellery  2 роки тому

      Creases may be because the wax is too cold causing overlaps or ripples, it depends on what you mean by creases.
      Generally you should only have enough talc on your mold to produce a matte finish on your wax models when you pull them out. Not seeing the actual powder stick to the wax.
      You may have a slightly textured finish on your models after casting if there is extra talc on the surface. If you can get a nice shiny injection you will get a nice cast model.

      @@mudbouggin7563 My molds are clear, so I can see, if they are filled. But I suggest just filling them hard, and then - if the wax is warm/fluid enough, the extra just flows out. Who cares if you have to redo a few of them - wax is reusable. If you only have a few molds, drop them in cool water after filling, so you don't need to waste a lot of time. I have a bunch of syringes, so I can do a handfull at a time. Not that I am "up and running a production", but that's mostly bcz I don't really have the burn out facilities. Tne seal against the mold isn't really a problem - just press it "hard enough", and reuse the spills.

    I don't understand where the air in the mould cavity goes when you inject the wax! Would it not form bubbles and resist the inflow of wax unless there were vents? I'm glad it works all the same!

    • @ClearMindJewellery
      @ClearMindJewellery  2 роки тому +1

      You can do relief cuts in the mold. Generally we have found this isn't needed unless the model is highly detailed or small.
      Although we try our best the two sides of the mold vary rarely make a perfect seal meaning the air will slowly leek out on its own for larger more generic models.
      We will be working a new molding video in the coming months as this one is missing some information and we can do a better job of explaining now.

    • @ClearMindJewellery

      If you’re only making a few pieces I’d just print each one individually, the overhead cost for each piece would be lower overall and use less materials. For mass production injecting would be the way I’d go with multiple moulds of the same piece.

Is vulcanization going to give you the ultimate in fine detail, or is clear-cast at the point where the difference is negligible?

    • @ClearMindJewellery
      @ClearMindJewellery  5 років тому

      Sorry but I'm having trouble understanding your issue.
      When molding and injecting you have to be aware at every step to limit shrinkage. The No Shrink Pink from Castaldo has little to no shrinkage you also need to do your research on a wax that has the same no shrinkage properties, none comes to mind at the moment. Also use a polishing method that removes less material to avoid too much metal loss, such as only tumbling the item.
      When we make items that need to be a specific size, for example rings, we will account for the shrinkage rate when making the model.
