Yes, because back then we had more pride in how we dressed and presented ourselves. I still look at old Family pictures in amazement and appreciation for how we were always well dressed even if we went over to play with a friend or have friends over to play with us. Oh Yeah, back then we were raised by Real Mother, or a Mother figure, at least I did.

Same Here. I was never able to pass beyond Malibu Barbie/Ken Even though most of the clothing were made by Best Buy, some are pretty decent still made with real fabric and metal snap closure.
Personally I didn’t like barbies when I was young, because of how their cloths looked mainly, they seemed so cheap and tacky even 8 year old me knew there had to be something better! So after some research I found these and oh my god they’re beautiful, if barbies were like this today I’d love them to death, I now want to collect vintage barbies, the first Barbie I plan on getting is “red flare” the 60s may have not been a good time for the US but I still appreciate Barbie from that time because at least she actually looked like a famous fashion model and not like she shops at Walmart, wish or aliexpress lmafo, If they start making barbies like this again they’ll have my interest but for now Mattel has lost my support for Barbie.
Personally, I loved my era of barbie when I was young 1998-2003-4ish. That's the last era Mattel still gave a crap imo. What started my love for vintage barbie was the old Barbie Collector website. Like u I was amazed with the superior quality of the older dolls! Was a subscriber to Barbie Collector magazine at 6yrs old lmao!

Another doll I got not long ago was wearing silken flame and it made me think of getting red flare because it’s how the repro paired it up in that box set but the dress and coat best I know were always separate sold.
Barbies are now over priced and poorly made dolls. Youre better off to buy dolls from mga entertainment, they at least put high quality dolls for a good price. Rainbow high doll honestly have so much detail in them with amazing outfits that follows current fashion trends.
That's true, MGA cares about the quality. Sadly their dolls' proportions don't appeal to me at all - huge heads and tiny bodies make me disinterested. I wish there was a Barbie type doll with MGA quality.
I've been looking at some new Barbies and even bought some and I can say the quality has been slowly going up again a bought the Extra 3 doll and I was impressed that she had a full outfit and articulation, earrings, hair clip, 3 necklaces, and even a ring so Ive been pretty impressed with them at this point and I hope they keep it up 🥰

My grandma used to have this doll but she gave it to her sister when she grew up and I feel so bad for my grandma. I really wanna save up my money and try to get her the midge doll with the black and white swimsuit.
Thats so sweet! They make great reproductions! They're pricy, but def not as much as the real deal. Midge never came in a striped swimsuit, she had separates in solid colors. The ones from 2009 with the large pink box is the best looking ponytail. They make a cute midge giftset too!

The only time Barbie quality decreased was in the 70s due to the oil crisis, and in the early 2010's. Feel bad for the younger gen that grew up with this new era of Barbie. My era of 98-2006 was amazing and the quality was ok but nowhere near as good as the 50s. But now? Don't get me started!
