The World of Overhated Cartoons

- Over the years I've seen a lot of cartoons receive a ton of extreme hate that goes far beyond criticism and falls into the realm of threats and obssession based on insignificant reasoning. This is a video about those shows and the insane hate they have received for the past decade.

The fact that the OG Teen Titans show was cancelled definitely contributed to the reaction towards Teen Titans Go!.
Yeah most of the hate came from fans of the original who were pissy that it wasn't brought back
Also imo the humor and messaging of TTG is still pretty immature to an annoying degree but I suppose you could say that about most modern cartoons. I can’t really speak for the original Teen Titans since it was on TV when my parents didn’t allow me to watch cartoons.
That and the bitterness in the reboot’s writing. The show seems to hate its old and current fans. Plus, the fact they used a make a wish kid as a meat shield. The hate is honestly justified but not for the usual reasons
@@Leeloo_the_fox It not for you then. It for little kids

I shall never forgive the cartoon community for slandering Uncle Grandpa and Clarence. Not every cartoon needs to have a grand story and can be great while focusing exclusively on comedy!
Let’s not get it twisted, they’re nothing special. Not even in CN’s top 50. But let’s not pretend they haven’t made worse and shows that had less effort and passion LMAO

I find this very funny because the idea that his catchphrase being something so jolly and polite yet the show got the reception that it did
Aunt Grandma > Uncle Grandpa
Blud did eat some kids homework for no reason in one episode tho
The cartoon community is kind of hypocritical, Like they are ok with mean spirited and gross out cartoons from the 90s But when a modern cartoon does that It the worst thing ever.
These people love Animaniacs and Tiny Toons for their jokes yet years later they trash shows who do the same thing.
@@TheDigitalAppleexactly it's stupid
CatDog is the main reason why I hate mean spirited shows. Every single character is nothing but an unlikeable jerk.
After watching CatDog I didn't bother with Ed,Edd and Eddy and Invader Zim
@@viliamsneakman1508as A catdog fan it is perfectly fine to not like the show, my main point is people need to be consistent
I mean I think it's because people got tired of that.
Uncle Grandpa was ahead of its time. People EAT UP surrealist/non-sequitur humor nowadays, and had it come out today (and on Adult Swim), I think the reception would be VERY different.
I agree
Uncle grandpa is just a grosser version of smiling friends but for kids
it was one rainbow away from going from surrealist humor to random=funny millenial humor but I've always loved it
why is that so perfect?@@greendoritoman2464
Yeah. I enjoyed it at the time as well
I’ve always held the opinion that Uncle Grandpa would’ve been way less shat on during it’s initial run if it aired alongside Chowder and The Misadventures Of Flapjack. The show has a lot of great comedic bits that are often overlooked. The Beary Nice and Hotdog Person segments are delightfully fucked up.
Your not wrong.
my favourite is that ric flair just appears for a episode
Absolutely
Yeah I never got why uncle grandpa got so much hate when rlly it has basically the same sense of humor as Chowder, which is beloved (The creator worked on Chowder and wrote some of the most popular gags) I don’t think uncle grandpa is as good as Chowder but still
Yeah, uncle grandpa just had the WORST luck showing up when Cartoon Network shows are becoming more story driven AND when the TTG hate was at its peak
Tbh, I don't get the hate of Uncle Grandpa. It deserved better.
It just came out at the wrong time. It was also airing at the same time as Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Regular Show and it was the complete opposite of those shows earning it a lot of ire it didn't deserve. If Uncle Grandpa came out now or CN brought the show back for reruns like they have been doing with Clarence, I think it would preform soooo much better.
Never hated Uncle Grandpa, even as a 13 y/o who followed a few cartoon reviewers at the time.
It wasn't a GREAT show, but it was wacky, harmless fun. And unlike, say, the Titans from Go!, Uncle G himself was a nice (if kinda weird) guy who wanted to help kids feel better about themselves half the time.
I haven't watched it since then (& tbh, I don't have a strong desire to either, no shade), but I'll always member it as a fine addition to CN's lineup back in the day...
It’s just a run of the mill show only for kids not sacrilegious as people like mr enter would like you to believe
@@staringcorgi6475
I don't even remember Enter having anything to say about UG...
If it came in the early 00s people would have loved it. It gets off cow and chicken vibes
Ugh. I hated Teen Titans Go too, but eventually once Cartoon Network stopped obsessively airing it I gave up and moved on after the initial “What the hell is this?” reaction.
How has the hatred lived longer than the reason why it started?!
The Pat…no, no, forget it, the show is O.K.
Agreed
Fr
I don't even know why this show get hated (it might because I live overseas and a lot of ppl here doesn't know what is TTG)
Ok yes
But not that great
It doesn't help they kept poking the hornets nest of the people who loved the original series on purpose
Hate is a strong word, I feel repulsed by it.
My initial rejection came from how the O.G. TT series got axed and seemingly this skin walker of a show came in its place. The voice actors are the same, it contains many of the same gags the original series had, but those gags were a small part of the OG series, brief moments of levity interspaced with interesting and sometimes series topics/stories.
Insult to injury, there are brief moments where they tease that the "GO" team might actually... go... do hero stuff, cause ya know they are all teen super hero/side kicks. But then it quickly moves on at the speed of ADHD.
It really is skin walking, its wearing the personality, quirks and flavor of TT, but its not. The comics of TT had them doing hero things, the OG animation had them doing hero things, GO? might as well be looney toons with a side of teen drama painted with a TT pallete.
I might have just been indifferent had the OG TT coexisted alongside the GO version, like a way to show the wacky day to day hijinks of some very special teens as a bigger levity break between the angst of the OG series. But no, it was replaced.
So I find the series repulsive, because it is coopted, like gaming, like every geek hobby, yet another thing taken over and hollowed out.
I’ll be honest, I mostly ignored TTG, but my annoyance mostly came from CN filling up their entire schedule with just TTG until Adult Swim came on.
But that’s more on CN.
Agreed
Yeah, I'm now realizing that 90% of my problems with this show aren't with it but with CN themselves
@@nellewoodruff6337 eh I hated CN for making it on so much but doubly so because I hated the actual show with a passion and didn't even know at the time there was an og teen titans
@InevitableOption-ic2vx stop this
The main reasons TTG was hated
1.- OG Teen Titans was cancelled, and the idea of a new teen titans show as good, except instead they got a random show for little kids
2.- It was overused by CN, many people dont even cared about TTG, but when you're a fan of another CN show , and you know your favorite show was being pushed or cancelled for a marathon of 75% airtime of TTG, that pissed you off
3.- It made fun of people's missing the OG Teen Titans, and that just fanned the fire of people who hate it and people who didnt care until then.
Personally i don't feel like TTG was a bad show in comedy, but i feel like they could've accomplished something as good had they chosen another IP.
Honestly every episode that referenced the original show only to make fun of it just felt like poking the hornet nest of hate.
Remove that and it's pretty harmless.
This. They could’ve giving the spotlight to some lesser known DC characters
I feel it does have some good episodes and gags
The problem is that they did it with the titans (who they also made into unlikable selfish idiots for a lot of episodes) and they also spammed the show so Damm much while making fun of the upset fans who missed the old show
It also helped revive the trend of cartoon reboots which have been mixed to say the least.
That and probably the fact that the parody got more seasons than the actual OG show
Honestly, the first 2 where me. After that I just moved on with life and enjoyed watching the classics.
I only watched maybe 2 episodes of TTG because of being in a hotel and I was bored. The Two I watched where pretty funny, but left me feeling like I ate a bag of chips by my self. I had its merits, but absolutely was not my cup of tea.
Also funny because I thought it was relatively liked across the board because it was everywhere and everyone I talked to loved the show, and any UA-camr I had watched talked (in passing) about it in a good light.
Fr, all Uncle Grandpa did was say “good morning” and was chill asf and people hated him

Maybe I was from a different side of the internet, but I barley saw any hate for Uncle Grandpa. The general consensus was that it was an ok show.
I think most of the hate was immediately when it came out. Just a year or two later I think ppl stopped being so harsh
If uncle grandpa aired in the 90s people would be praising it today as peak animation and saying shit like "damn they dont make cartoons like this anymore"
Uncle Grandpa was Xavier Renegade Angel made for kids
(i count that as a good thing)
edit: HOLY SHIT, YOU JUST MENTIONED IT!!
Xavier Renegade Angel had a method to its nonsense. Uncle Grandpa reeks of a boomer executive making what he thinks kids will like. Poo Poo comparison.
I'm gonna be frank TTG is a Mid show at best, when they lean less on having the characters being so annoying/unlikable and lean more into the DC lore, it can be pretty good.
But I'll play devil's advocate and say that most of the hate it has gottten besides the usual complaints is that CN has treated it as it golden show, and has repeatedly aired marathons of it on their network way too much a while back and really got people upset.
I like teen titans go I hated the marathons of it though. But lord the marathons left so many better shows under the water.
I still rerember the times were i used to watch allot of cartoon network. But ever since teen titans go dropped it (im not even making this up) would be airing teen titans go almost the entire day, sometimes unikitty (that show also sucks ass) and in the evening it would air gumball (the only actually good show ive named so far) and the good shows like steven universe, adventure time, regular show, Clarence would air between fucking 1:00 am - 5:00 am. Who the fuck came up with this? Who is gonna watch Clarence on 2 am?
FR
@@corphish69fr unikitty was not good 😂
@@kermitgotthesickkicks4265 honestly, I couldn’t tell if Cartoon Network was trolling people with those marathons or deliberately trying to kill other shows with them
To be fair, I do distinctly remember when TTG was first starting the people marketing it said TTG and Teen Titans were one in the same. TTG was 'What the Titans do when they're not fighting crime' which probably sparked the initial backlash and hatred for it.
The sheer level of hatred TTG got made it damn near impossible to give an honest opinion on it for a very long time. I didn't particularly care for it, but I was almost embarrassed to ever admit that given the absolute sea of hatred the show was drowning in.
Ikr
The company kinda deserves that hate not the cartoonists cos u cant just change the personalities of beloved characters, if u want new style develop new characters or make the older characters go thru character development to change into new one, maybe idk all the teen titan heroes are hynotised to act silly
I just want to point out Teen Titans GO has a skit where the 60s teen titans fight President Nixon with the help of the ghost of John F Kennedy. While I don’t think teen titans go is good, I do congratulate them for that one skit.
TTg is definitely overhated but it’s not like it’s a good show either. In my opinion atleast
Edit: fuck the Patrick star show
ITS an (MOSTLY) okay Show but it aint what people knew about teen titans
The Patrick Show is pretty much the only cartoon airing currently that isn't dogshit
My view on it is the same. It's not the worst animated show or anything on CN, but I do think it's one of the worst animated shows CURRENTLY airing new eps at the moment
My favorite part of TTG was the whole B.E.R phase, it was really interesting and the designs were…something! Like, it’s the main thing I remember about the show besides Robin getting shit on. (and also Robin’s brother who lived in his eye..? Still don’t understand what that was about, to be fair…)
I just wished the writer would lean into the genuinely better parts Cartoonshi referred to rather than some of the more…strange bits. (Referring to the whole Raven power up scene in the TTG movie…and the focus on butt humor.)
I honestly dislike TTG because it's kinda when the trend of creators showing contempt for their fanbase started taking off.
I remember ttg originally being advertised as just "the titans on their day off" or whatever and for the first season, it was actually pretty accurate to that and I enjoyed it a decent ammount, I just got tired of the show when Robin being bullied or his ass were 90% of the jokes
I didn't even hate it and honestly I liked the animation. Starfire and blackfire had cute designs
Yeah I remember that too
I remember people roped in then president of Cartoon Network Christina Miller into rants about Teen Titans Go. A lot of poorly scripted rants.

I can understand the hate with The Patrick Star Show and TTG, but what did U.G do?! The hell?!?!
i assume for the SU crossover and the mere idea of a grandpa being more than a grandpa (jokes of poor taste)
i dont get it either !...
When it comes to Uncle Grandpa, I think another big reason people hated it was the crossover episode with Steven Universe. This was back during the early days of SU, when it was showered with praise. Seeing Uncle Grandpa take the piss out of a more serious show like Steven Universe, pissed a lot of people off.
It’s a shame because that episode was really funny
More like Poopen Poopyveese
The patrick star show controversy is funny because even the smoking gun doesn't really hold up
Because in fairness to Paul Tibbet, it was made clear that he thought camp coral was gonna be a NickJr spin-off for babies
In the quote he gives from Hillenburg he's mocking the idea of a 'SpongeBob babies'
Like Looney Tunes babies
And after the series actually came out Tibbet was asked about what he thought of it and he admitted the show wasn't what he thought it would be, praised it for sticking to the tone and humor of the main series and said he liked it.
It's insane to me that anyone still tries to use Paul as a point against the show when the guy they're weaponising said he liked it

TTG is Okay, But I feel like it isn’t for me anymore.
Sure theirs some good specials, but even without comparing it to original the Comedy just feels flat,
I’d rather watch the later Seasons of Uncle Grandpa. Because at least it feels funny and the characters don’t feel mindless to Watch, theirs at least some Charm to them and Some interesting plot Ideas.
Funny enough, I think alot of the hate for Uncle Grandpa came about from Steven Universe fans, cause their show had a crossover with Uncle G, and it made fun of some things on Steven Universe (like UG being Rose, the "ship" sinking of Lars and Saddie, etc.), and while I do think Uncle G is good, I can see why people don't like its comedy
As for TTG, I used to be someone who hated it big time (esp. when it took up all of CN's schedule for no reason), but I just stopped caring, and let it go. It's pretty easy to do

Uncle Grandpa is great imo. A goated series with goated characters. Mr Gus, Pizza Steve, Belly Bag, GRFT, Tiny Miracle, Beary Nice, Hotdog Person, Evil Wizard, and obviously...Uncle Grandpa are hilarious characters and are worth the watch. I thank Pete Browngardt for making such a coke induced series that played a big part of my chilhood.

Teen Titans Go may have immature humor and cringey moments sometimes, but I grew up with it and I look back on the episodes I loved as a kid quite fondly. I also think that the Teen Titans Go movies are unironically good lmao. And while I think the original Teen Titans is absolutely awesome, Teen Titans Go is going for a completely different demographic, yet people acted like they shat on the Mona Lisa or something
Cause it did. No matter how you look it, the comparisons will be made because the characters look strikingly similar and the TTG is 10 times more immature. It's frustrating that garbage got to continue when the original was so amazing, even now. It doesn't matter if it was made by other people, the idea is just insult. Also, I don't believe the original marketing helped if I remember correctly. They did reference the original TT.
The characters are even inconsistent within the show itself.
One moment one character will be serious about something (Which would in a normal situation be stupid but this is TTG so you know something is gonna happen) while the rest don't care or are dismisive of it then its another character then another.

Maybe it's because I watched it a lot growing up, but UG was one of my most favorite shows on Cartoon Network.
I'd place it right next to Adventure Time, TAWOG, MAD, and TDI in terms on how good it was.
you're so correct about the weird sheep mentality a lot of cartoon fans have. i remember i was really young when all the teen titans go hate was being spread around and i was a really huge fan of the show, but then i saw like one singular video on how it sucks and i was suddenly stuck on the idea that this show i used to love was actually reallu bad the whole time. i remember it escallated to me telling everyone at school to stop watching it and they all just immediately agreed

Teen Titans is the Fortnite of cartoons. A loud minority hates the hell out of it--some of the hate makes sense--but it continues to go and has only become bigger over the years
Also, I might get hung for this, but I actually enjoyed Uncle Grandpa
The only reason I could think Uncle Grandpa was hated is maybe because it was technically a "successor" to Secret Mountain Fort Awesome. The Uncle Grandpa episode of that show was basically a Pilot for the series and with how bad of a reception SMFA got, people were VERY skeptical

Your videos have made such an increase in quality over time, glad to have seen and been here for all of it.
I think a big reason both Teen Titans Go and Uncle Grandpa were so reviled is because most Cartoon Network shows from the late 2000s/early 2010s were really mature and adult. Regular Show was an absurdist workplace comedy about twenty-year-olds. Adventure Time often had deeply mature themes, tempered by silliness, but genuine depth. Teen Titans had the same depth, incredible animation, and even their silly episodes had a mature tone. Scooby Doo Mystery Inc and Young Justice both had overaching storylines and mature themes. Generator Rex, Samurai Jack, Green Lantern TAS, Star Wars the Clone Wars... CN's entire block, for half a formative generation, was mature storytelling, expansive themes, serious tones, and mature animation. That all got replaced by pale, stupid, dated imitations of previous shows and pure comedies that incorporated a lot of random equals hilarious humor. I distinctly remember hating these shows because they weren't the kinds of shows I grew up with, just obnoxious kids stuff.
Wait uncle Grandpa is Hated.
I really liked that one…
It's true. Here in Bulgaria back in 2017 I think there were parents on facebook bitching that it should be taken off from air. They were acting like this was the worst thing known to mankind
I used to watch Teen Titan go a lot as a kid. There were some episodes that inspired me and made me giggle
One reason for the massive hatedome around Teen Titans Go-which strangely, you brought up but didn’t connect as a reason-is that very piss-yellow chart at 6:36. A lot of people who didn’t even hate the show that much DID hate having it forced upon them for hours, days, or weeks on end if they wanted to watch Cartoon Network at all. It’s not a GOOD reason to hate the show but it’s at least a little more than “this isn’t like the original Teen Titans.”
Also what else contributed to the hate on TTG def had to be the animated short that was made before TTG came out and it kinda lowkeyy gave TT fans false hope that the original show was finna be back.
Oh my God, FINALLY someone doesn’t hate on The Patrick Star Show. Honestly, currently TPSS Season 2 is MUCH better than SpongeBob Season 14

Hot take: I don't find Teen Titans OG as dark as people make it out. There are a lot comedic episodes like Mad Mod episodes, Mumbo Jumbo episodes, the dating episode, the Employee of the Month and etc.
Sure there are serious like the Slade and Raven episodes but Slade barely shows up and they are far between.
Hell even TMNT 2012 ( a show that made by the creators of Teen Titans OG ) has more darker moments than Teen Titans OG like the Rat King episodes, Super Shredder episodes and the horror parody episodes like Within The Woods and there are some body horror with the mutants
Finally, someone says this.
Whether it was TTG's more meta episodes, or fans of the original who probably haven't seen it in a while, the goofy side of Teen Titans 03' always seem to be conveniently ignored.
While there are for sure high stakes & tension, OG TT could get pretty silly at times with all the examples you mentioned, plus the general use of wacky anime-style faces & the sarcastic remarks from Raven & other characters.
It's almost like an earlier version of Rise of the TMNT, if anything...
agreed! my favorite episodes were the killer moth ones that went all-in with the goofiness and then it turned out they were some of the most hated for not being serious or lore heavy. i honestly think the show was at its best when it balanced the story with a little bit of cheese
i've noticed that people will call any cartoon that handles serious topics "dark", it's pretty annoying.
the original ATLA is a really damning example. the way people talk about it online would make you think it's a dead-serious political drama and character study, when in reality, it just doesn't talk down to its audience.
I would say it's the fact that some of the serious moments are spread out between comedy makes it work to the point of such word of mouth. Especially when it really hits hard when they do. And I don't think people ignore the silly bits of shows like TT OG, ATLA, or even Batman TAS and TMNT '12; It's just highlighting when the show hits hard with it's highs.
Like man I completely forgot how shocking the whole episode of Birthmark. It shows me that the Disney S & P team will never have the balls to show scenes about creepy pedophiles (Slade) to kids
You perfectly say everything I think about the subject. Great job :)
Hey man, I really just want to say you really open my eyes to all these shows, and now I have more understanding and different opinions for all three of these shows. Thank you.
It's insane that Teen Titans Go is 10 yrs old, and it is still going on today. Also the fact that this series eats up the entire schedule on CN. Even I was on the hate wagon too, but after years later I stopped hating it.
I didn’t even know Uncle Grandpa was hated like maybe back when it’s first season was airing but by the time of season 2 I remember people singing it’s praises so I was surprised to see it on here, people just need to learn to have fun.
Now if we’re talking about the show it’s spun off from on the other hand…
I remember watching these types of videos a ton when I was around 10 or 11, and I felt like an idiot for liking shows like Uncle Grandpa, Clarance, Johnny Test, and others, while not enjoying shows everyone kept hyping up like Steven Universe, Star Vs, and other more story driven shows. I didn't stop watching them, but I kept thinking there was something wrong with me. To be fair, it did get me to look at older shows and discover some of my favorite cartoons of all time, and in general I prefer shows from the 90s up to around the early 2010s in terms of art-styles and writing.
Still, these people made me feel stupid, which is why I always liked how the UA-camr Phantom Strider would always say, "If you like these shows, that's fine. It's just my silly personal opinion, and I'm glad you can see something in these shows that I can't." It was small, but nice to hear.
Pretty nice video,I gotta rewatch these cartoons sometime
The Patrick Star Show is a friggin masterpiece and those who say otherwise are just believers of those false rumors ☝🏽
agree its better than the main show rn (compared season 2 of pss to season 14 of sb)
While the "responding to critics" episodes are indeed cathartic given the toxicity of the cartoon review community, I feel like these episodes do a disservice to the shows themselves for two reasons:
1. They reveal to the toxic critics that their attacks have touched a nerve, hence encouraging them to double down
2. They end up alienating the very demographic the show claims to be writing for (a.k.a. da children) by holding up their usual "random = funny" episodes just to respond to a community whose existence said demographic probably isn't even aware of
I think the best kind of response these shows could make is simply not responding at all, and allow these pathetic manbabies to keep on shouting into the void. While I can understand why that might be hard for the writers to do given the death threats they receive, it's the choice that pays off the most in the long run by letting the toxic critics know how meaningless their temper tantrums, as well as showing respect to the younger audiences who actually enjoy their work.
Man I never understood the hate for Uncle Grandpa. Yeah it was the pinnacle of 2010’s “so random” humor but it still had passion in it that no other show had. My mom loved Uncle Grandpa despite hating that typical “style” of show
Great video! I always loved Uncle Grandpa before it was cancelled and i also liked Teen Titans Go's first seasons more and the Patrick Star Show always seemed kinda decent to me. Im glad to see people actually love these just like me and im glad you made this video! Keep it up! 👍
I’m glad to see a content creator going deep into the cartoons that got a lot of hate.
I'd say the biting back from the TTG writers is one of the many reasons alongside they constantly changing their stance going from "OMG its just a kids show" to "OMG so what if the show is bad". This is throwing fuel to the fire
Also Uncle Grandpa is genuilly good, it reminds me of wacky old 2000's cartoons
You're telling me that I've been gaslit that the crew and cast have been mocking fans of the OG TT for simply wanting it back, but in reality, mocking "fans" who attacked the cast and crew, sending death threats to them for just working on thebshow they hate simply because its not the original show?
Who would've figured
Absolutely based video, really need more takes like this in the cartoon community.
Interesting topic to talk about
Hot take: For a Kids show, TTG was pretty damn good.
I grew up in the early-mid to late 2010s, and I remember watching TTG and getting a kick out of it. Hell, my parents got a chuckle or two out of it. Realizing that it is now 10 years old makes me feel really old. I still find it really funny that Control Freak turned into a satirical representation if the haters of the show.
I have watched some of the original series as well, and it's pretty damn good as well. But honestly, it doesn't beat TTG's more comedic approach, but that might just be the nostalgia.
I actually liked TTG when it began, it really fell off when they started whining about the audience…
When I was younger, around maybe 7 or 8 when it was passed my bedtime, and my parents were asleep, I’d get up, turn on the tv, not long before or after teen titans go played, and id watch the episodes of ttg and the amazing world of gumball and then go back to bed, i enjoyed the shows
Finally, my childhood isn’t being shat on by adults
All of these shows game out in like 2017
@@Aswoop9000 crazy that people can still have a childhood in the 2010's 😐
@@SebsistButReal i was trying to get him to admit it of course i know that people can have a childhood in the 2010's people are so annoying

@@Aswoop9000 ohh mb dude. nice pfp btw
All Uncle Grandpa did was want people to have a good morning and people hated him for it.
Uncle Grandpa is the goat
amazing video man I really enjoyed it!
Teen Titans Go!'s style of writing is similar to that of The Fairly OddParents. The only reason why TTG gets more hate is because FOP is more nostalgic than a "reboot" of a show that was airing during it's peak. TTG also premiered the same year FOP switched to HD, and Timmy getting a dog who was present for one season then left. Both shows even had episodes poking fun at the British and making gender stereotype jokes. Like FOP, TTG should've ended much earlier, however it''s still airing after 11 years.
Did ttg have fart jokes in season 1 ?
Very few from what I can recall. The earliest instant of a character farting in TTG was in the Laundry Day episode, where Beast Boy (as a pig) farts in Robin's face, causing him to faint.
@@happaxgamma depends on the amount if they did it more than three times this it was probably always bad and should not be compared to and actually funny cartoon( still not the worst thing in the world)
Also that comparison is stupid. Fairy odd parents does not make episodes about haters
Fairly OddParents isn't really that funny, it's mean-spirited,, cliched as heck, and predictable, and most of the characters are stereotypes. SpongeBob has way more high-brow clever humor, which is why some of it's earliest episodes are still remembered and how memes are spawning from them.
TTG has issue of taoing up so much tv slot time. It has unique episodes where the writers try to have fun, a majority of it feels mass produced, and that was a lot of tv time. Kinda simplifying CN as just for kids.
Uncle Grandpa, as you said, just came at a bad time and its hatred was largely side effect of TTG and it didn't deserve that.
Patrick Star Show, the show itself is whatever, but it the timing around it all still feels very uncomfortable.
I would've done so much to see Uncle Grandpa air again,it was my comfort show..and then truly the hate was random quite often.
Whether or not Steve Hillenburg was involved in these spinoffs is always up for debate, but personally I look at Kamp Koral and The Patrick Star Show with indifferance and not worth the hate.
12:42 I'm glad I grew out of it cuz I haven't watched this weird show since 2022 and I was just focusing on school and UA-cam and movies and stuff.
Good video, just gonna add some additional context for peeps reading in the comment section:
Teen Titans Go! - So while I agree the hatedom was and still is absolutely overblown, it is worth pointing out that
A.) The first of those callout episodes, The Return of Slade, also wasn’t particularly received well by Go! Fans either - they actually wanted to see what that version of Slade was like - and a large amount of hate was blasted towards rant reviewers for “forcing” the crew to make a callout episode, so I’m sure that didn’t help.
(It’s also a big reason as to why Slade is the main villain of the movie, so it all worked out in the end, but at the time it was just an ouroboros of everyone shouting over each other.)
And B.) TTG never really stopped making those episodes, and in fact actively goaded haters and escalated shit on their end to a ludicrous degree, up to and including a Season 5 teaser at the end of the movie (fun fact: a good chunk of the existing crew worked on the movie and were in fact *kinda* pissed they added that in there, and Tara Strong further fanning those flames probably didn’t help). Hence the TTG vs TT direct-to-DVD movie. To a point I can respect it, but when you’re getting to a point where you’re making a crossover special that’s saying the same things over and over again for 10 years - regardless of circumstance - yeah…it gets a bit old. I respect the hustle, but only so much.
(Another fun fact: in contrast, The Night Begins to Shine specials are some of the most-watched specials/episodes from the show, cuz outside of the movie, it’s the one thing both sides can agree on being really good.)
Uncle Grandpa: This was both a case of bad timing, and it coming right off the heels of Secret Mountain Fort Awesome and Problem Solverz and other stuff flooding the network. Understandably, people assumed that Pete Browngardt, who worked on SMFA, using the same character introduced in that short and using a very similar artstyle meant it was gonna just be more gross-out stupid shit and critics online rolled with it.
Though even back then, most people moved on to other shows to hate cuz Uncle Grandpa was just kinda alright. Because of the formula of the shows/skits, once you’ve seen one episode, you’ve seen ‘em all and can probably say all you can say about it in one. That’s not to say it ain’t funny, or well-written, it’s just way harder to bash.
As for The Patrick Star Show? …Yeah I got nothing, they kinda nailed their bite-back episode. And while I’m sure the feelings of the crew and what they thought “Stephen would’ve wanted” are wildly varied, that’s not our place to speculate.
"this show for kids is childish and I don't like it"
I mean the problem isn't really that non-kids don't like a show for kids, more that they overreact and don't shut up about how they think it's garbage whilst passing their opinions off as fact
I wish people gave Clarence more credit when it first came out. Sure it wasn't perfect and it had it's moments of immaturity like you'd expect from a kid's show but damn was it a breath of fresh air compared to what most networks were airing.
Hot take: The cartoon community have pretty much killed the "cartoon" in Cartoon Network for in favor CalArts serialization /co/umblr slop while turning around to wondering why they are the ass end joke among fans of animation in general.
thank you so much for talking about TTG im a huge fan of this show (:
Uncle Grandpa could solo Goku I don't wanna hear none of yall hate this man. All he said to yall was good mornin.
I could see the others being overhated but honestly Teen Titans brought the fire on itself for mocking people who didn't like the show so much. People probably would've got over it quicker.
I love how the skyboxes in TTG are sometimes just stock PNGs, I honestly think that’s hilarious.
I can think of some geniune reasons why people would hate Teen Titans Go.
1. It feels like they hate the auidence that isn't kids or really a lot of people. How many Take That Critics episodes have been made?
2. Bad morals... And I don't mean intentnially bad ones... It can feel hard to even tell if they are joking about the Moral or not sometimes.
3. The Teen Titans are not heroes. That may be more subjective admittly... But if you say that they are supposed to be markerted for young kids... would you want them to watch Superheros be bad people?
Other than those things the shows was ok it taught lil old me what different types of rocks where is was educational for adults with stuff like 401ks and income and kids with rocks and fairytales
Robin also taught us that salt was a spice
Rebuttal
1.) These are literally the best episodes of the entire show and the comedy in them is peak. When you are a creator receiving death threats, this is literally your main recourse. Or as the creator of this video says “learn to take a joke.” I love when cartoons mock me, especially because I’m an adult criticizing something I’m not even a fringe demographic of the target audience.
2.) This one threw me off a lot too when the show first started out, it upset me a lot. However, it is basically sarcasm or satire of how shows aimed at kids need to have good morals taught. It is very obvious these people are not people who should be admired or imitated and thus their morals would be hollow regardless. It is high concept for such a lowbrow show, but it is satire.
3.) Because it’s meant to be goofy. SpongeBob and Patrick are not good people anymore. Most of the characters of 90’s shows (aren’t and Stimpy, CatDog, IM Weasel, Cow and Chicken, Invader Zim, etc.) were not good people. This also rolls back into #2 being a satire of superhero shows where the characters are such saccharine sweet good people, and those shows have a place in the world, but that is not what TTG wants to be or pretends to be.
@@tisvana18
On that first one...
While I do respect turning the internet's favourite type of threat into content, good for them for making money off of it, and the actual comedy made from it was pretty good.
The bit, if you can even call it a bit given the sheer size of it, just drastically, disgustingly, illegally overstayed its welcome.
Like "YES! I know people hate your show! You already told me that like 3 separate times! It's been years! Move the hell on!"

I remember LOVING the OG Teen Titans and when I saw TTG coming out, I just thought to myself:
“Ahh, seems like a comedy series. Less into that. Oh well, moving on.”
Not sure why so many people fixated on it so much. The humor seems lame, but it’s such a nothing burger of a show that it blows my mind so many people were obsessed with it. I dunno, maybe I’m too much of a well adjusted adult to understand 😂
bruh it was because it took up like 75% of the airtime of all cartoons so if you didn't like it you were screwed. I hated it before knowing it was even a reboot because it just sucks even outside of that context especially compared to the shows it takes the airtime from
