1971-D Half Dollar Worth Money - How Much Is It Worth And Why?

I have a bunch of these in my collection. What does MS65 ..etc mean and how do you determine it? Also why do some videos state the coins sell for thousands of dollars?

Hi B Colman - MS65 is part of a grading scale where MS65 represents a very well preserved coin (looks like it was just struck at the mint with very little imperfections). Exceptional coins can go from MS66-MS70. The ones that sell for thousands are likely errors in really high condition (errors are quite rare to find).
