Kenyan track and cross country legend John Ngugi mourns President Moi

33 years ago, John Ngugi was bestowed with the huge responsibility of carrying the torch at the 4th edition of the All African Games in Nairobi, the first time Kenya would host a major continental sports event. The 57 year-old held the symbolic torch in the presence of the late president Daniel Arap Moi who presided over the opening ceremony and he reflects on how Moi was able to leave an impact on Kenyan sports.
