Ethiopia the land that is blessed with beautiful women, blue Nile and also cursed far North of Afar desert. But I like everything about Ethiopia, they are good people in Nature just like Kenyans, and I truly respect them among our East Africa brothers. Lots of love from 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪 to 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹. Please maintain Peace inorder to protect your cultural and heritage. Nothing is more richer than peace and healthy people.

I'm glad this documentary was made. The king had done great things for the poor. He was just too slow to make land reforms. He helped start all things that put Ethiopia on the map, such as, the African union, Ethiopian airlines, modern education ( Addis Ababa university) gave fellow Africans scholarships to get their education in Ethiopia, he helped start tourism (13 months of sunshine). He helped start theater. Established the first modern hospital in the capital (black Lion). Gave a chance to Large number of Ethiopians from diffret tribes go abroad for western education and to help them be exposed to new ideas. To be frank, those who came after him tried their best, he still still ahead by a mile and half!

I met Haile Selassie's son in the 1980's & we were friends. He told me who he was but he told me 2 read about it in history. I did & was intrigued as to why this nation turned around from prospering. He also believed instead education would help Ethiopia but he also said that they were exiled & would never be allowed 2 return cuz his father had been an Emperor

I had a Ethiopian African studies teacher at university who was part of the student protests against the monarchy. When he explained how it happened, he would always shake his head mournfully. He said youth is impatient, that His Majesty was bringing the world forward with him at a steady pace, educating the young, talking to United Nations, friend of Churchill's, who said no white man could help but bow when in his presence, even white men who had never bowed in their life would inexplicably jerk forward in greeting him. The mistake was that the common man became empowered by his benevolence, and this included young soldiers, who armed with youth, ignorance, impatience and guns, stopped the world's forward motion towards peace and equal rights and descended us into the planetal destruction we are in currently. If I was Christ, I would not come again to 🌎 for any reason. To hell with us.

He is a legend!!! How ever, the statement "The church and the king can not be separated" is wrong statement. At that time, schools in Ethiopia were church schools. Thus, it is much expected to see church people around the emperor, not because of their religion, but because they are scholars. This could be proved by looking the present church scholars; they are incredibly knowledgeable.

Many things stated in this documentary are not factual, for example; the narrator at one point says that His Majesty "disavowed" his lineage to King Solomon and Queen Makeda, however there are many DOCUMENTED instances including in his own autobiography when he solidly takes ownership of his lineage and 72 nations of the world accepted this fact when their representatives bowed before him physically when this lineage was declared at his coronation in 1930. I am very disappointed that "fake news" has made its way into this news channel and you all should be ashamed at distorting the facts of such a great man!!!

But for Selassie he was still in Africa, he didn't experience the trans Atlantic slave trade. So for him to have a whole group of rasta people from the Caribbean willing to die for him. He didn't understand

And the fact he didn't fully overstand that,( it was on a biblical level, and he was very busy with the material progress of first, ethiopia, then, africa) was the fatal mistake of his life. Because he refused to meet with Marcus Garvey in london, but met with Churchill, a rumor of elitism began to take root and this wedge was manipulated by many who fought to overthrow the feudal system.

Nobody was "willing to die" that I ever knew. It was more of adding a certain African, black perspective to the biblical story of Jesus. The bible was criminally, falsely used as a prop for white economic christianity, irregardless of the confusion and protests of many whites, Quakers, Friends, Abolitionists, many Christian congregations rejected slavers interpretation of the message of the Bible. It was the ganja growing elders who had listened to the message of Marcus Garvey, the zumbaaa of insistent drums as meditation, and the shouting of inspired verses that uncovered Rastafari, the 6th largest global religion. At that, without a single church. Bob Marley, a convert, gave the world the real message of Christ, island style. But anyone can access these fundamentals. Here's how: smoke or consume the most chemical free ganja you can find. Please stop smoking white boi weed from the dispensaries and go back to the less hallucinogenic but straightforward homegrown, but any will do. Women of childbearing age should drink tea or edibles. Next, get your bible kids, open to Numbers 6. After that rummage around anywhere in the bible and your hand will be guided and of course, you will hear thunder.

Infact, he was the worst leader in Ethiopian history. He hated his own people except the Amhara and orthodox Christians. He was in England when the country was in war against Italian colonial power. He hanged belay zeleqe to death who was the icon of ethiopia in fighting against Italy. He discriminated muslims so bad that they were denied rights in their own land. He exploited the people through feudalism and treated his own people as a slaves until they bow down to him as if he was a God. He was extravagant and lived lavish life while people were dying out of hunger and only few afforded to fulfill their basic needs of life. I can say so many more things about him. I am happy that I didn't existed during his time.

Well documented aside from his non resolve of the Eritrean crisis he will be remmembere d as the architect of Ethiopia and the elder unionist of Africa. His monarchy was benevolent and the causes of its downfall were involuntarily accelerated by the delays made in resolving land reform and the Wollo famine. The monarchy was a unifying institution of the peoples of Ethiopia and it's constitutional form still remains to be the best option for Ethiopia now that Ethiopia a

Where is King David or his son Solomon buried? That's my only problem with that statement about the roots. We take real people(Ethiopians)& a very real KINGDOM Ethiopia. Somehow it's gets married to fiction characters like Abraham, Isaac, Moses, David, Solomon, Abraham, & even Jesus. Where is the archaeological evidence of these people? We know that the Queen of Sheba was a very REAL person. Where is this Solomon person? Where is all his wisdom & gold? It's either fact or fiction! If it's written on paper it's stolen from the Nile Valley Africans. Where is the evidence of these people, their records would've been written on stone.

It is an indisputable fact that RASTAFARI (the Rastafarian Movement) has grown to be the social force that it is (and indeed a force to be reckoned with) because of the lasting impact of His Imperial Majesty (HIM) Emperor Haile Selassie I on Rastafarian adherents around the world, and on the world in general. Equally so, it is irrefutably the case that RASTAFARI might never have come into being without the prophetic messaging of the Rt. Hon. Marcus Mosiah Garvey. For all intents and purposes, therefore, RASTAFARI must be construed as the DIALECTICAL outcome of the ideas of Prophet Marcus and the broader Pan-Africanist outlook of HIM. In other words, RASTAFARI is the SYNTHESIS of the THESIS of Garvey's Black Nationalism and the ANTITHESIS of HIM's UNIVERSALISM. Confronting the apparent backwardness of the AFRICAN RACE during a period in which institutional racism was the order of the day, Garvey was right in insisting that it was incumbent upon Black people to "pull themselves up by their own bootstrap." Garvey's approach to uplifting the African People might have seemed like a case of reversed racism but that kind of tough love was indeed appropriate because "it takes steel to cut steel" and the best cure for any ailment is often an antidote made from the same venom by which the ailment was caused. On the other hand, HIM had lived long enough to realize that there will never be any real hope for the human race "UNTIL THE PHILOSOPHY WHICH HOLDS ONE RACE SUPERIOR AND ANOTHER INFERIOR IS FINALLY AND PERMANENTLY DISCREDITED AND ABANDONED." Hence, RASTAFARI is in essence, a Movement for all races through which UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD could be achieved. (“RED, BROWN, YELLOW, BLACK, and WHITE, WE’RE ALL PRECIOUS IN JAH SIGHT, JAH JAH LOVES ALL THE CHILDREN OF HIS WORLD”. HIM also envisioned a world in which the so-called 'rule of law' is replaced by the RULE OF INTERNATIONAL MORALITY. For while the "rule of law" primarily serves the narrow interests of the lawmakers, the RULE OF INTERNATIONAL MORALITY is premised on the NEGATIVE AFFIRMATION of the GOLDEN RULE which admonishes: "DO NOT DO UNTO OTHERS WHAT YOU WOULD NOT LIKE TO HAVE DONE TO YOU. It is only by adopting such an ENLIGHTENED ethical framework that "the basic human rights [would be] equally guaranteed to all without regard to race." Within less than a century, RASTAFARI has evolved from a marginalized and ostracized group of dispossessed Jamaicans under the leadership of Leonard Howell to a global movement with over 30 million followers - and growing. Despite the meteoric growth of the Movement, however, no one should lose sight of the fact that RASTAFARI must still navigate some very rough waters ahead. Many well-meaning proselytes like Dr. Vernon Carrington (Prophet Gad), Jacob (Killer) Miller of “CHAPTER A DAY” renown, Bob Marley, and countless others (although often mistaken) have played their part in helping to propagate the Rastafarian philosophy from the early days in which so-called experts from the University of the West Indies (UWI) like Rex Nettleford and other so-called experts in academia saw RASTAFARI as a mere cult with an expected limited life span. On the contrary, RASTAFARI has stood the test of time and many issues, like the significance of marijuana, the primacy of Biblical teaching, the misguided claim of the "divinity or deity" of HIM, the actual typology or ontological nature of the movement, whether RASTAFARI is a religion or a "LIVITY", etc., etc. are still to be debated and settled. Still, compared to most of the larger social institutions like Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Marxism/Leninism, and others that have been in existence for millenniums, and which have all failed so far to bring about peace on Earth, RASTAFARI which has been around for a mere 100 years could rightly be regarded as still being at the stage of infancy. Thus, there is still quite some time remaining for the Movement to fully evolve and properly assert itself. And so, unless Rastafarians who are truly committed to HIM's admonishment to strive toward ENLIGHTENMENT allow charlatans and other similar types to misappropriate and ultimately derail the Movement, there is still reason to hope that MANKIND/WOMANKIND might one day find ourselves living in the kind of world envisaged by RASTAFARI.
