Thank you for the objective talk you made on the subject. The question on whether are we (not just Filipinos, but all other ethnicities as well) are being too sensitive about other people poking fun at identities, culture, and abilities of those different from them. Yes. we are and we should be. In this day and age, everyone needs to be vigilant about it. Little inputs can actually be used to justify hating and bullying and that needs to be checked. Not to say that we explode in anger every time. My point is to be careful and attuned to what is being said or done to the detriment of others and be able to call it out responsibly and with courage.

I'm a filipino but the mocking of filipino accent is ok for me because there are some filipinos who are also mocking other accents. They made fun of it, even laughing from ear to ear and didn't even apologize for it. But downgrading our culture and our existence as a human is what makes me sad.

Yes I know people around the world intimidating the Filipinos because most of my fellow countrymen are working as a domestic helpers ; but it doesn’t mean that those DH are illiterate in fact most of them are educated or highly educated Bachelors degrees and so forth . It’s supposedly the responsibility of my Government to protect every Filipinos working abroad , instead the corruption of all levels in the government are so disgusting! Their's 2 ladies I know in Kuwait. They only get 4 hours break, and that's at the end of the month. Only ONCE a month. In their contract, it says 1 day off a week.

This Egyptian woman probably haven’t heard a Scottish speaker with strong accent.
The fact that we speak multiple regional languages in the Philippines, is the reason why we become familiar and acquire those accents that are so distinct from each language and region.
Panggalatok has a very strong accent and Ilocano as well, more so on the Visayan side.
Even if these ethnic groups speak Tagalog, that actually has a lot of vowels, they pronounce the "o"and "u", the "e" and "i" interchangeably.
The fact is, most of us Filipinos, when we hear our locals speak with their regional accents in Tagalog, we instantly recognize their origin. And because our ears/hearing are trained to these different registers, we can easily understand them. The same could be said when they begin to speak in English.
This Middle East lady encountered just ONE type of accent and already she's gaga about being negative. Nevertheless, the saleslady can evidently speak good even with her accent, she tried to do her job well, because English, is the language required of her job and the country she came to work for.
Come to the Philippines lady and be ready to get mindblown and crazy. But one thing is for sure, they will understand your zzz dd jzj embedded utterances. One of the reasons why we can learn any language in just a short time, its because we are exposed to multiple languages and accents everyday of our lives. Isn't that admirable of us? But u chose to ridicule us instead...Hmmptt!!!😖😡

All maids anywhere in the world deserves a 1day off per week, but still theres a lot of greedy employers who dont care or bother giving a 1 day off even in 1month same as my chinese employer before for 1yr and 6months i never had a day off thats the whole time i stay with them i decided not to finish my 2yrs contract with them😊hoping that the employer should think thier maid is human and not a machine,we also need at least 1day rest for a week 😊
