I don't know how y'all city folks do it!! All the noise drives me nuts!! I mean I guess ya get used to it. But GEEZ!! Recently I had to go to San Antonio for a doctors appointment and had to stay overnight. The wife and I go no sleep!! The constant noise kept us up all night. Made us really appreciate our little pile of dirt out in the East Texas woods even more. As usual, OUTSTANDING work Glen!! Y'all be safe out there!!
Yes, at first the city noise / hustle & bustle made me crazy. But now I'm so used to it that when I'm in the country I feel like a fish out of water since my usual conveniences are nowhere to be found. Still, there's something to be said for peace and quiet. Thanks.
Great looking tongs. Made it look easy again!! Your tongs really are a piece of art. Amazes me every time I pick one of mine up. Got to use the RA's a little today. Outstanding! Thanks for the video.
"Really impressive and creative! Rich content and attractive presentation have brought viewers useful and interesting knowledge. Thank you for sharing such a quality product. Looking forward to the next videos from you!
and people worry about your hammering lol. That is really dedicated and a lot of walking the tongs look great and like they will do a nice job of holding the faces of his hammer nice and firm. Great Share Glen thankyou
I've thought about this and tried something similar (punch a star shape into one side of the rivet) but I couldn't see any added benefit. Thanks for watching and for sure time flies when you're having fun and even when you're not.
@mckutzy thank you. I've been watching this channel for years, and I knew it was mild. I just couldn't remember which type. I appreciate the feedback. Funny story: Back when I didn't understand types of steel, I made a set of tongs out of coil spring. One too many times of getting hot and dipped in water to cool metal, and they shattered all over the place while I was forging. That day, I learned about the importance of having an inkling of what steel you have. Lol I also pissed all to hell bc I spent a LONG time making them, too.

Meilleur forgeron de pinces❤
Thanks for watching and for your kind comment.
I've noticed farriers putting notches around one punched hole so the rivet only pivots on one side. Could this add something hinging upon beneficial?

Glen, what type of steel do you use for your tongs?
I think he said in previous videos, regular 1018 mild steel..

I hear ya..
The drawing out process with out power is usually quite consuming...then factoring materials.. quite frustrating...
I normally use 1018 mild steel. Thanks for watching.
Nice work - where does the name originate from?
Do you mean GS? Those are my initials. Thanks John.
You really make it look easy. But I know it is not.
Tongs are about all I can do well! I've made a few... Thanks.
Glen, what stock do you start with?

Nicely done, but please tell me those weren't bagpipes! The religious march certainly sounded like they had pipers.
Ha! yeah, they do have instruments that sound like bagpipes but they are another kind of horn. Thanks Bryson.
