I really enjoyed this one when I read it, I ended up dedicating a whole month over the summer to reading just the WWII books I had and I don't think I've ever have felt so emotionally heavy in my life
I had very similar feelings! Definitely the most I've cried reading a book this year :)
Glad you liked it!
This was a great review! I'm always up for a book that can make me feel all the feels, so this has just been added to my TBR. :) I hope you had a great Holiday, and I look forward to your next video.
I'm currently reading this book - almost halfway through it and I'm really enjoying it so far! Only slightly scared for the tears that are about to come if I have to believe your review! :D Thank you for posting, and happy holidays!!
Have some tissues ready! Happy Holidays!
It was already on my list but your review made me want to read this book even more!
Great!
Great review. I loved The Nightingale but also felt when the "cheesy" parts of the book started coming through. Hannah's other book Night Road is also worth reading.
Thanks for the new video, Katie! I actually own a copy of this book and I was debating on bringing it home for break, but alas it is still in my apartment two hours away at school. I'll make sure to get to it once spring semester starts up again :)
Hope you're enjoying your break (and the eggnog ice cream (super jealous))
I hope you enjoy it and thanks!
A book that made you emotional I'm going to have to check this it out.
Hope you like it!
ChapterStackss was amazing
thanks for the romance heads up. I’m not into cheesy romance stuff. I have a hard time choosing books because of it.
Had this book for a while before I finally decided to read it bc of this review. I CRIED AT WORK. Tried so hard to finish it before I left, but ended up reading the last 15 or so pages on my break. MISTAKE haha
Yeaa for being polish(also french) Hope to see Poland next year.
I would pick Lifetime over Hallmark movie any day. Usually if the characters are realistic and raw then I tend to enjoy the book way more.
I would LOVE to go to Poland. It's definitely at the top of my list!
I'm doing my masters project in this book. Got any suggestions on how to develop it... Am a kinda stuck in the middle>>>
Me too..!!! Can u pls tell me if u got any ideas..??
Going through your video after 4years seems like I'm too late to arrive, unfortunately I started reading the novel yesterday
I want to pick it up, what do you think of it?
I liked the book but I would give it a 3 out of 5. I liked All the Light You Cannot See better. Have you read that one? I found the plot of The Nightingale taking multiple trips across the Pyrenees very unrealistic, especially when she is someone who has been living on rationed food for months now. In the beginning I found the book emotional, but then it started to not feel as sad about the characters. I started to get too melodramatic. I'm not sure about reading Kristen's other books now. I will put Winter Garden, which has been recommended to me for later maybe.
I hope you know that Isabelle's character is based off of the real-life hero, Andrée de Jongh, who double crossed the Pyrenees herself 30 times and personally escorted 118 airmen to England. But yeah, so "unrealistic."
i had no idea your family is polish, greetings from Poland :)
Hello! I would love to visit someday!!!!
The fun thing is that I finished a book by Kristin Hannah last Thursday called Firefly Lane. Didn't like it all that much:(
What was that book about?
It's about two girls that becomes best friends for the rest of their lives and they are very different. One of them wants to become a reporter and do everything to become it and the other one lives in her shadow, trying to live her way but it's not easy. Hope this was helpful. I try not to spoil anything:)
Ah I see. What about it wasn't all that great? Katie made a point in the video of saying Nightingale was a bit over-dramatic at points. Did you feel that way with the other one?
What I didn't like about the other book is that the girl who tried to become a reporter wasn't in love with a guy she worked with but he was into her and her best friend wanted him more than anything. I didn't like that love-drama aspect. Two grown ups fighting over some guy without even knowing it:) That ruined it for me:/ So that one was over dramatic too and not a fan of that either:/ It get too much, if you know what I mean.
SuperStrange Shadow
Ooo yeah I see where you're coming from with that. I'd probably give that book a pass
Attempting to not be spoilery: I agree with you about the ending. I just felt so angry at the end because it felt like author was forcing this highly unlikely scenario on you in order for you to cry. And I could not stop thinking about how unsafe that would have been for everyone involved.
Why would it be unsafe. I'm surprised that one person who died didn't die much earlier.
Yea it definitely felt a bit forced >_>
Spoilers: Andrea, she would have been extremely contagious especially because she was feverish. She never would have been released in that state.
Oh. Right. I remember thinking Vianne is pregnant and she should not be around her sister.
Odd comment: You have such nice teeth haha

I'm almost tempted to dislike this for no reason just to tick someone off.
