"Only 200 hours for early game." Dude MMO players are wild. I only have a handful of games on steam ive played for over 200 hours. I can "only" play for 2 or 3 hours a day so it'll likely take me 5 months to reach that point. I dont think we should be designing games around NEETs who can play for 10 hours a day for weeks on end. Youll never satisfy or make enough content for that type of person. And they cant be the majority of a game's community just based on the fact people have jobs or school
Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment. I truly appreciate it and it had me reflect and rewatch my video and realize I missed giving Brighter Shores some credit it deserves. I do believe Brighter Shores is a game that might be the perfect game for anyone who enjoys the gameplay/progression of Runescape but doesn't have a ton of time to play on a daily basis because of their AFK skilling system. I made a video talking about it If you would like to watch it; here it is: ua-cam.com/video/nR5oxu0erBg/v-deo.html
What are you in a rush for? If you like the game, 5 months shouldn't even be a worry for you. It seems to me like you just don't like the game and that's okay. No need to resort to talking down on a game's design because its "designed for NEETs". Patience is a virtue, if you don't have it you are just as bad as these so called NEETs playing the game that will never be satisfied with the content. The enjoyment is in the journey and it seems to me like you don't enjoy that journey and/or just want to skip to the end. If you actually enjoy the game, the thought of being able to spend 5 months playing and not be close to finished with all the content should be an exciting thought for you. Either that or you are the type of person to constantly compare your progression to somebody else's.... comparison is the thief of joy, this game is effectively single player, other peoples progression does not and should not be affecting your enjoyment of the game.
wouldnt even say its true. there is nothing meaningful to do in the game anymore after you beat the quests. there is no endgame or anything. It is like claiming that reaching 500 on every skill for no reason is the endgame. Other successfull mmorpgs have actual endgame content, brighter shores has nothing like that yet
@GurtGobain so killing goblins in osrs is the same to you as doing the endgame raids? You are either trolling or you truly never even played the endgame part of a properly designed game
i agree on so many things, i grind because i know this game is going to become something special! i have fun with the current task ahead of me aswell, doing all the quests is my goal atm!
The way i see it, we're in the RSC era of the game, feels very bare bones, economy (when trading rolls in) will be dominated by the no-lifers. Holiday events MIGHT give us the first actual mini quest. I do expect to get many more quests in the future and really build on the story and fill up gaps in skilling and provide more meaningful rewards to actually grind for.
I'm not playing for dopamine. I'm playing for relaxation. I'll be sticking around. Also my computer is a potato. It's 11yo. Probably there are RS players younger than my desktop, lol... The best chats I've been in crafting. Didn't you grind carpenter for the storage rifts? I did 3-4 inventories full of logs, and then processed all of them to get to the next two points up and the next logs. It's not a "design choice." It's a game that's essentially in BETA. People forget that it's in BETA. That's what early access means. It might even be late alpha, but it looks polished, has few bugs, so everyone expects it to act like a decade old game. My big worry is, how does PVP end up looking? Since I'm playing to relax, that gives me pause... But hey, been enjoying your content. I'd be happy to see (and upvote) more. :) GL with your real world quests, and see you on the other side!
@Hosenbund1 You're kidding, right? Until the combat is refined and PvP is added, there's really no "core" in this game. I'm level 350ish atm. It's not like I'm playing 2h/d. I'm just not playing for adrenaline. That's a totally normal thing in any grindy game.
I think videos around efficiency, and getting enchantments, plus money making will be good. You've got a great voice for this. Even break it down really simply so its easy to follow. Like you've got a good voice speed. A lot of guides are quite rushed, and hard to follow. Even blacksmith. Like the ideal click process etc. All those little intricacies add up :)
Nice vid! I actually felt the opposite as you did about the whole gathering/processing skill relationship. In runescape (as a non-ironman) I don’t think I ever found myself using gathered resources for processing skills. Like mining your own ore for smithing is insanely slow compared to just buying it. Even when you’re mining, it’s almost always WAY better to just drop the ore for more exp rate. I don’t think I ever found a situation where I was processing my own gathered resources. Whereas in BS thats all I do, I almost never buy those input resources. And that feels real gud to me
The thing is, if you hop on an osrs ironman rn some people are A LOT hours in and not even close to finishing mid-game. OSRS has had a long time to cook and you should probably look closer to the thousands for those ironman references. They definitely need to fix the xp scaling between 20-50 at least, but if you're an osrs fan the hours per "stage" of the game shouldn't be discouraging. It's just the lack of content at the moment. They need to add a lot of low level quests, more mid-level (50s-100s), some high level (150-250s), and a handful of super late game quests ASAP. Personally, I would prefer they continue focusing on QoL and such at the moment. The recent poll he did is probably biased because the only people that took it understand what the future will hold. I really worry about retention if they don't flesh out long-term goals for players or at least provide a roadmap for content. Not even dates, just # episodes, skills, quests, bosses, pvp, etc. It's similar to their horrendous advertising. Except this time people have tried it and already made up their mind.
Love your ramble vids, but if you were looking to get into making some guides, I’d love to see some on ventures, passive activities, and maybe some good money making methods.
The game needs bosses with actual drops pretty soon, potions need to have their healing instant and animation/delay after. I understand each room being instanced to reduce crowding butit sucks going between rooms and its all different players when you return
i love the game and i have not played any runescape before. i'm thinking about the coming up leagues and giving osrs a go and it might be an interesting vid to try to describe osrs in brighter shores terms instead of the opposite done by many others.
I'm personally having a blast with brighter shores. I have two friends that play, and one is destined to quit soon--I've noticed that if players come into this game and they mainly care about what comes at the end (maxing, bis gear, standard doomer sweat prog gamers), they won't last. I'm GLAD that the game has a largely expansive time-to-complete, so to speak. It makes goals meaningful, and there's no fast way to "beat" the game. It's simply here for people to enjoy, and that's why I think it'll be good. Getting base 200s is a personal goal of mine, but I've got tons of smaller ones in place before I even bother going for them. You either enjoy this type of game for the experience, or you dread the "grind" and tell yourself you just have to get through it (if this is you, brighter shores probably isn't for you lol). For me, this is like animal crossing or something similar, on giga steroids.
Same here it's fun and chill. Idk about the sub though...it is cheep but I think that's the hope and just doesn't seem rewarding as much as just a must have to progress doesn't feel good but might sub a month just the try new content.
I'm loving it so far, and I have a bunch of small goals and one big goal thus far. My small goals are just base 20's, then work from there. Big goal... 500 in miner.
