I've always wanted to meet a poet. Not someone who can make a rhyme, someone who is a complete genius with telling the truth. Listen to the bloke. No words to explain.
I respect the way he speaks about his ex wife and the daughter of his ex and Michael. He adores their daughter which is lovely. Deep respect for his kind heart.
He pulled off one of the greatest concerts in history, against all odds! Live Aid, for whatever outcome, lives were saved and the world got to watch in real time. Kudos for having faith and succeeding.
@maureenwest3563 my granddaughter met this man whilst travelling to aeroflot and gave her a copy of his greatest hits album which he kindly signed. She could sense the deep pain behind his beautiful blue eyes and the tears absorbed by his tasteful shirt. Upon leaving the aircraft he very quickly offered the captain a tip of 20 euros to compensate for the crystal glasses he accidently broke. What a nice gentleman and his work ethics are very much admired in Scandinavia.
😂 Love the way Bob fluffs his hair at the start of the interview, carefully coiffed 'bed ' hair, probably spent hours in front of the mirror, wanting us to think otherwise.😂
Respect to this man, helped millions of deprived people. And went through hell with bereavement and public scandal with his ex wife. So good luck to this man..
He did help do not get me wrong but there was no follow up. They supported Ethiopia and then left and it all went into disrepair and desolation from what I personally saw. But lives were saved.
@markdaly1648 I have to laugh when he speaks of the family having no money 😂 He was educated at Blackrock College the most exclusive college in Dublin. The school is renowned for its rugby success and its exclusivity. He actually came from an upper class area of Dublin. He has a tendency to paint a picture of himself as coming from a poor background which wasn't actually the case. Exaggerated stories are part of being Irish.
Geldof, was yet another one of those "tortured" artists that in their own mind are so much more deeper than the average person. Nobody can feel emotions like they do. Its sad really. Songs are simple, people like them for a while and then they move on to real life.
He’s probably the most straight up, grounded, real, intelligent personality. If he’s over rated it’s a reflection of a collective idol worshipping moronic society
It's absurd to say music doesn't change anything and I'm glad Geldof didn't let it slide. The hippie, reggae and punk movements educated entire generations of people and moved them to think and act, albeit just vote a certain way. Parkinson obviously thinks music doesn't go much further than Sinatra waxing enthusiastic about the status quo. There's always been protest music. There's always been carnivals. Music has always had an impact, just like other forms of art. Apolitical art is singled out because art is inherently an agent of change.
We Australians 🛐💌🎭Parky. The eloquent Mr GELDORF 🍀🍀💌🎭 is someon i've admired for eons, wondering now if its because our faces are similarly squishy and his grey is identical to some of the many colours sprouting from my skull
To get where Michael and Bob are you have to be full of yourself, theres nothing wrong with it, the worst thing in life is being the opposite and letting yourself pail into insignificance when you have talent.
The man has the courage of a Lion. Lost his mother, lost his wife (twice) left him then died, lost his daughter. As an Irishman I'm very proud he's a member of my tribe. He could have ended up a coked up Rockstar but he didn't. He's confident not arrogant.
@@christophercook9745 You forgot Rat Trap was number 1, as well as Mondays. How about Banana Republic no. 3? Like Clockwork no. 6? Someone's Looking At You no. 4? How about 13 top 30 hits? How many hits have you had?
A Boomtown Rat that made good by collecting ego's to preform for free and he could set up a trust that just keeps on giving without lifting a finger ... Who would have thought ???
The Boom Town Rats will never be regarded as a classic band but this man as had a lot of tragedy in his life and in his own way, maybe some what naively ,has tried to some good for this world,so I salute him for that.
I love him…a wonderful human being ♥️ from Mexico City…Pili…adore you 🌹

He caused it?
Never helped anyone! The money went to rich Africans! He caused the trauma to Paula as everyone knows he is homosexual but hiding it
Agreed 💯 😢❤❤❤
@dondamon4669 how do you know he's gay?
Bob and showed us how to survive and thrive in spite of it all.
Bob Geldolf i greatly respect, survived great sadness and loss in his life and endured, the boomtown rats are classic underappreciated band

British Isles...shame on you,Bob
He's not as I expected, his openness is quite refreshing and could in some circumstances be quite frightening I suspect.
