"CSX wouldn't cooperate." In other words, CSX was saying, our needs to make money is more important than what the people of Middle Tennessee needs for their population growth.
Yeah, that's essentially it. I mean, I guess I understand. They're a business. They need to watch their bottom line. Seems like a missed positive PR opportunity, though. As well as a missed opportunity to be, as Bob Clement puts it, a good corporate citizen
@@5folds389 It goes past that, a few billionaires like the Koch's are invested in CSX and other highway companies and are making money on this transportation mess. I think it would be cool if they could connect the MCS to the Amtrak city of New Orleans station in Memphis so people could catch Amtrak without having to drive or take a bus.
They should buy their own tracks, it’s expensive, but it will definitely pay off. Plus, we need to connect Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville again. They are our biggest cities in Tennessee they’ll bring the most income.
@@heyitshuttz3705 You lost your last passenger train when the mail and express it carried was put on trucks by GM. Bailed out GM. It was a night train cause mail moves by night. They bankrupted the private national rail system that way.

Wrong, tracks are taxed and taxes are added to use taxes for other forms of transportation. Music City Star is a tiny operation. Just the way the Koch's want it. They make money on all this. More traffic? The answer is always unlimited funding of more roads, which bring more traffic.
OMG it’s so funny seeing old Metra cars especially cabs in service. Do the bathrooms work in those cars? Metra has disabled bathrooms in these old cars. Also, they need to buy some ADA accessible cars with wheel chair lifts.
So true. I wonder if they have the power to seize the property alongside the rails to build what they need. It’s crazy that CSX was handed the entire New York Central Tracks on a silver platter. Not sure that included grand central terminal. But CSX is famous for being real assholes when it comes to commuter rail.
GCT was privately owned and leased to Metro North, the guy got old and just sold it off to Metro North. I was property of the NY and Harlem River Railroad.
Nashville and the area doesn't have the population of the Chicago Area, even on special event days in Nashville would NEVER match the millions of commuters in the Chicago region Monday through Friday, even weekends.
@@Harveycartoonlvr11 Not true, ridership is held back by lack of service and connections. Chicago is only for the super rich that work downtown, to go anywhere across the region you have to change trains, stations across town. When you drive you don't go downtown first! It's a old system with newer cars. For the super rich to commute downtown and the getto people to go out and clean their houses in the afternoon, watch the kids and walk the dogs. Why should they? Their money is important.
I think Nashville has gotten larger than just downtown maybe they could update the freeway signs also😊

I would love to see a commuter service from Memphis to Nashville! I live in Memphis and we get 2 Amtrak trains a day. Both the city of New Orleans.

It's a real damn shame that CSX isn't being cooperative.
yet they have VRE, MARC, SunRail and TriRail running on CSX
They need a monorail
It’s sounds nice, but they need to increase the schedule, it’s hard to work with only a handful of AM trains.
This video shows how to use the train, if you happen to be in the area. ua-cam.com/video/sVss5Ylr3uM/v-deo.html

Why are their trains only 2-3 cars? Most trains have 4-6. Also the trains themselves need a revamp in livery and interiors
