    Good job my friend!
    You did it alone by yourself, and you show me, that I can do it by myself too.
    Keep that classic audi tt for many years!

    nice video, i just pick up a TT that is in great condition except for the fact that I see the beginnings of some rust in this spot on the right side. Good to know it is relatively easy to replace these!

    Great video and very helpful - I have now removed my sill/rocker to repair a dent (Audi jack....) and address the rust. My panel has a textured coloured rubbery coating on the lower half - it looked as though your old panel had the same finish. Do you know if this the same material that you painted on the seam or a spray coating? Thanks

    • @RayLevang
      @RayLevang  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! Not shure whats on the original parts, but I guess it's some kind of body protection. What I used is a typical under-car-body-protection stuff that's never really gets hard. So I don't know what options is on the market, especially if you plan to paint over it (as it seems to be the case with the original parts). Any solution is more forgiving if your car is black though.

  • @Andi-if9fk

    Thank you, it is an helpful introduction to change the rocker panels side skirts. Typically for all leakage water-pump on left fender (VW/ Audi same concept), the chemical wash water wash out the protected surface. The road stones impacts on the edge was in this case not the reason. May I ask you, have you still your TT MKI today? Is the TT MKI repair you've done in well condition today? THX Andi

    • @RayLevang
      @RayLevang  2 роки тому

      Hi! Ok, not sure why washer fluid should damage the body, but if you say so i'm not gonna argue ;) I sold the TT some time after the repair, som I don't know, but the panels was original from audi dealer, and painted at a modern paint-shop, so I guess it's fine. But salty roads is the number one car killer here in Norway, and there's almost no way to prevent rust on winter-driven cars.

    Hello, nice Video.
    I have the exactly same problem, but on both sides... I am going to repair it this winter when my TT Roadster is in winter garage.
    I have one question: Is it not necessary to seal the rocker panels on the top/left/right? You just sealed it on the bottom under the car.
    Thank you. Have fun with your TT :)

    • @RayLevang
      @RayLevang  3 роки тому

      Thanks. Well, I guess you could put some stuff on the top by the screws as well, but I don't think it's necessary. As far as I remember, the door sill cover had som adhesive though. In any case I would use something that can be relatively easy removed, just incase. (Stuff that doesn't harden). Good luck!

    Do you have to remove the wheel to just replace the rocker panel?

    • @RayLevang
      @RayLevang  4 роки тому

      I would remove both front and back wheel. However, your biggest concern will be front wheel arch cover and screws (two) that connect the rocker to the front fender. They might be rusted and hard to remove/replace.
