You could plug in a Fire stick on an Xbox One so can play Xbox on the Xbox to play Xbox
We heard you like streaming crappy games at crappy quality, so we stuck a fire stick in your Xbox One so you can stream crappy games at crappy quality on a crappy console
So you need 4 Xboxes to play one Xbox…
Ok that's pretty funny 😂😂😂.
Xbox is the only brand who tells you at every moment that you don’t actually need to buy their product.
Exactly
Why sell a console that costs them money, when they can sell a service which costs them next to nothing?
@@cun7us the service cost them next to nothing? I thought It cost them way more. It just easy to get a service to their potential costumers.
@@zonzore nope, it costs them very little in relative terms. Consoles on the other hand, are expensive to make especially the Series X, hence why they put the price up.
@@cun7us there is no way cloud gaming costs Microsoft next to nothing. They have to optimize the software to run on custom Series S consoles specifically for the cloud and have servers everywhere to handle the load. There's a reason XCloud is only available with Game Pass Ultimate and none of the lower tiers.
Streaming games is the worst way to play games especially multiplayer games
Microsofts cloud gaming is horrendous! I’ve tried it on many occasions just to simply try and it’s still the same latency issue with visual fuzz. GeForceNow at least is playable and decent looking.
Agreed. Tested nvidia rtx 3080 tier (haven't tested the new 4080). RT an better settings sure but due to video compression and to a greater degree due to latency, an Xbox series s provides a net better experience
Seems a match for the Xbox experience we have been getting since 2013: worst
I try GeForce now? 2 days ago. Is not playable. Framerate/picture is good. But the input lag is massive for me. Driving cars (cp2077) without crashing / not possible. Mouse feels so soft….
For multiplayer I agree but I messed with...Stadia? and I was surprised how much you can game you can get with basic internet on a potato machine. At least at 1080p single player, I was getting consistent frames and resolutions. Some sessions were unplayable and I can imagine any interruptions is a deal breaker for a lot of serious gamers but less so for more causal gamers.
I concluded the technology wasn't there yet but I full expect cloud gaming will become the norm in the future.
xCloud performance is not solely dependent on WiFi speeds; it also heavily relies on the client's device capabilities. Contrary to popular belief, cloud gaming is not just streaming a video like UA-cam or Netflix. It requires robust h264 decoding performance. Testing on various devices using Edge, Kiwi, and Safari browsers showed that PCs and Macs (both AMD and Intel) had the best decode times (1-4ms), followed by iPhones and Samsung Galaxy devices with Exynos chips (4ms). Android phones with Snapdragon and MediaTek chips had slower times (26-30ms), with the worst performance observed on Android TV (112ms). xCloud performance and quality could be enhanced if Xbox will increase the bitrate limit and adding support for h265.
Dang, I can't believe I never thought about that before. Thanks for explaining that!
All that assumes you live in a place with stable, reliable, internet connections without a data cap.
That's not a given in first world countries, let alone the other 80% of the countries on the planet.
@@mappybc6097 I'm from the Philippines with a stable 600Mbps internet connection. Since xCloud is not supported in my country, I use scripts to bypass the region restriction. The nearest server to me is in Korea (stable 60ms). Xcloud does not require too much bandwidth since its bitrate is limited to 15Mbps thats why having a 1Gbps internet connection doesnt make any difference.
I wouldn’t rely on cloud without a shield pro or some kinda similar device for that reason 💯
Totally agree - this is why even though Amazon say it’s on their 4K and 4K Max fire sticks, it’s actually only the latest (2024) versions - older ones don’t have anywhere near the power to do this decode properly.
The quality of it will depend on the wifi speeds and the Xbox server blades
My gaming PC got fried by a power surge recently and money is super tight.
I'm thinking about buying one of these so I can do SOME FORM of gaming.
I can already see all the parents getting this for their kids just to deal with the troubleshooting nightmare that they have no idea how to deal with 🤦🤦
Tens of millions already have a Fire device. No one bought it for gaming. Gaming is a value add just like it is on smart TVs.

So no different then new pc owners
@@De1usionsofGrandeur yeah, same boat!

It's aimed at casual gamers. Hardcore will go PC, regular gamers Xbox and casual streaming. The money is in monthly subs not tin.
We've been trying to do game streaming for 15 years! I am done "waiting for the experience to improve."
Xbox: You don't need an Xbox to play Xbox.
PS Portal: you need a PS5 to play PS5.
PS5 is overated
It's like playing a UA-cam video set on 720p.
Playing on Xbox One is better than streaming.
What's wrong with that? It's the perfect resolution for my 5:4 1280x1024 monitor.
That's good on mobile
bro gfn has 4k streaming
Whoever thought that it was a good idea to include xcloud at the highest tier of gamepass is a genius lol 😂 instantly will kill cloud gaming 😂
@@dr.sivavignesh664 Yeah, as someone who has Game Pass Ultimate (I'll probably downgrade again once the new prices reflect for me) I wouldn't have it if I didn't take full advantage of it. I own both a PC and a Series X, without those it's not worth it.
Sony actually tried to use it as an argument against the Activision merger. Lol. Trying to make it seem like MS will have a big advantage.
Why? Gamepass is not particularly expensive.
Putting it at the higher tier is not the thing that is going to kill it. Trying to run it on a rubbish wireless connection is what is going to ruin people’s opinion of the service.
@@BrettHoTep Blaming the consumer is a mute point. That's the internet they have, and that's that. Google said the same thing with Stadia and it's gone.
@@BrettHoTep because it defeats the purpose of " no console required" to play. Entry to gaming without hardware is only viable if the subscription fee is justified. The highest tier is most useful for people utilising Xbox live, pc gamepass, , Xbox gamepass. Why would someone who just wants to play on cloud want the other things ?! ( yes there are people who are fine with using gamepass without hardware, it's like plug / connect and play to them). Also why would people with hardware play on cloud ? The 2 crowds are different. The ones having the hardware would never touch cloud gaming because of connectivity issues and latency.
To me, it all stands and falls with your internet speed. I barely have 20 MB per second and I can stream simple games to my phone, and it works. But it is not compelling by any means...
i have a 1000mbit / 50Mbit Internet, a new Wifi 6e Router and local Streaming between PC and Steam Deck is not perfekt. How will it work with normal Internet an a buged Wifi Router. All my Friends dont have a seperate great Router. All use the Router from his provider. I thinks nothing beats local Gaming!
I have a 500mb connection and the streaming quality sucks. It's not just about our internet or the infrastructure, it's also they cutting server costs by serving a low res, low bit rate video.
@@leoni7649 100%. Game streaming also lies at the hands of corrupt ISPs intentionally limiting your bandwidth and using the lowest bit video streaming that they can get away with because lets face it most who embrace cloud gaming are casuals settling for mediocrity who cant even tell the diff btwn 30 and 60 fps or resolution differences and they are less likely to call these companies out for their garbage service
@@leoni7649latency is very important when it comes to game streaming. Once you meet the required minimum speed for streaming than faster internet won't make much difference.
@leoni7649 same here 500 plus n streaming looks awful n response is lousy. Just don't get why microsoft shoving streaming down our throats when it's so terrible.
Richard is the only person eagerly awaiting Xbox on a firestick.
I think they can honestly capture a lot of speculative casual market share. There's a lot of users out there that could play Disney Dreamlight Valley or other cozy games that don't really care about top-specs and just want to relax.
Video game streaming will never replace physical games. The biggest challenge is that infrastructure in developing countries is pathic compared to other countries like Singapore, China, Japan, and South Korea
Physical sales in those countries aren't large anyway. It's fine in places with solid infustructor
Check history with technology every time someone said never.....
Digital will replace physical games lol not streaming
@@kennypowers1945MS and others are trying to make streaming the better alternative. So a single digital purchase just won't be enough for them.
My internet connection in Vietnam is much better than Australia. One is 3rd country, other is a G7 country.
"Where is Microsoft going?"
Echoing what the DF crew said, looking at their strategy, Xbox will become their gaming brand.
It'll be a logo you see when you access gaming features on Windows and phones (and streaming if that sticks) or when you play one of the games from the many studios they've purchased, on other, more successful platforms.
The answer is easy. Xbox want to be mainstream. Console, PC, mobile, tv, etc. That’s their approach.
@@luiscantu4968 But they've failed every step of the way. They're a distant third place in the console space. They can't seem to make the Xbox App catch on with PC gamers, and I don't need to tell you their mobile efforts have also failed. From this point of view, they've spread themselves too thin.
And it’s a stupid one that will fail.

Well maybe instead of spending $500 on Xbox you can invest at same 500 on a good modem and a better internet company?
@@daytonaflowI have good internet. But you can feel input lag. Is very very very big.
@@iPh1l1ppwhat service did you use? Because my XP with PS+ streaming is very good.
@@zonzore GeForce now.
Latency is rarely an issue with a solid connection
We have been here before with the Google Stadia. The common consensus was it was a good idea but the current internet bandwidth couldn't handle big games smoothly. The view was give the internet another 10 years then stream-gaming would be ready. I thought Microsoft would go the Fire-Stick route eventually when physical disc gaming ends, but I didn't think I would see it in 2024.
They did nothing new besides putting an app on the Fire Stick and advertise it. Xbox Cloud Gaming has been around for a good while now.
Google also dropped the ball by double and triple charging people on their Stadia service.
I've never been successful at doing streaming gaming on any console, so far. While my internet speed has gotten better. It is around 200mb, and the best available for the city I live in. The issue is that game streaming does not equal video streaming. I can stream 4K content but it ONLY works because the buffer allows for various drops in internet speed. Game Streaming requires none of those drops or pauses to happen ever. Thing is, drops that kill the game connection where it totally messes up for whole seconds or even to the point it just disconnects with an error, happen all the time. I can't even play a short game session without that happening. It's been guaranteed that I have a bad experience each time I attempt to use it.
and it’s going to depend on the quality of the connection. I think 1080p is fine for streaming. If you’re streaming, it doesn’t need to be 4K. That’s a lot of information to transfer, and not everyone is going to have 4K televisions, etc.
I think the point being missed in all of the messaging is that Microsoft/Xbox want to cater to each market. Hardcore gamers will always buy physical systems so long as they’re available. No casualties gamer is going to boot up Game Pass on their Fire Stick and complain that the fidelity doesn’t match the Series X that they don’t even own.
Of course for us, it’s a big deal. But my gf didn’t start playing games until we started dating. She had a 27” TV. She plays games like Stardew Valley and Grounded, and doesn’t care about streaming issues at all. The only time she gets frustrated is when the game lags to the point that she gets hit by an enemy because of it. That has happened rare enough to the point that she doesn’t care.
She hasn’t touched the Xbox I bought her since I introduced XCloud to her. The point is that there is a solution for every type of gamer. Streaming, PC, Series X, Series S, and soon, probably handheld. I appreciate having so many options.
I may have missed it in the video, but did you guys try it with the firestick ethernet adapter? Curious to see if that improves anything.
I think that part of the point of this is to get people into Xbox and then offer them 'superior' options. Many may be Casual and that is enough for them for the 'cost' of the Subscription fee but for others, it could be their 'entry' point in. If they want a 'better' experience with Games they can download and play natively on Hardware, they have a 'cheap' ish option (Series S) and a PS5 equivalent with their Series X - various models of Both to suit budget.
They also have Handheld PC's for the 'mobile' market and don't need a 'High' end Pro/Elite Console to 'compete' with PC's on Visual Quality/Performance options as PC already offers that. It's not as if Microsoft Windows isn't the 'common' factor between Xbox/PC and as both are Microsoft, they BOTH have all the Microsoft owned Games Day/Date - have since 2017 Sea of Thieves. That's been nearly a decade now and you 'didn't' need a XB1 S/X to play MS games after that.
Even without 'Streaming', you don't need an Xbox because MS release everything on 'PC's' so can play on a handheld PC at 'Console Prices. Most can connect an eGPU to boost performance and dock to a 4k TV - with DLSS as well to get the Visual quality at a Frame Rate you want. MS could release a Surface Handheld PC with thunderbolt port for 3rd Party eGPU's to 'dock' to Monitors/TV's for better performance on higher res displays...
My question is if gamepass does not reach 100 million subscribers by 2028 will Microsoft dump the Xbox brand?
They will dump it sooner. They are already pushing MS gaming, xbox is dead for most intents and purposes
@@easyygo3008 They can't dump it given there would be no one to sell to. There isn't a company that can buy the assets in Xbox's portfolio. Sony can't because they would immediately become a monopoly & no other company has the money. Amazon might but they learned from the Luna that they aren't built to be a gaming company.
No presence/mindshare for Xbox really isn't a surprise. They squandered the goodwill that came in the latter years of the 360 era by years upon years of mediocre products, so few exclusives made the grade, now wonder nobody is excited about their deliverables. It will take a few years of outstanding products to start turning heads again.
So you need a 4k stick or 4k max stick to play Xbox series s versions of games in 1080p?
It's nothing to do with the resolution. It's more about finding very cheap hardware that delivers on a cloud service. Currently M$ need some requirements to get a stable cloud app.
The S outsold the X b ecause it was the only next gen console consistently on the shelf for nearly 2 years
I'm lucky in that I've rarely had a bad experience on xCloud over Wifi or even 5G but there's definitely room for improvement. It has improved since I first started using it, so I'm hoping it continues that way. As long as it is solid enough for more casual gamwrs who don't care that much for graphic fidelity, then I can see it eventually being more popular than it is now
i think we are pretty bad at extrapolating the future of gaming, everyone seems convinced cloud gaming is coming, but the reality just seems like it wont really catch on, people that play on phones are not there to play AAA games, and judging by nintendo and playstation hardware sales, people do very much still love hardware.
What are you talking about? PS5 console sales are a failure. People hate hardware performance on Switch.
@@darinherrick9224people hate performance on switch yet is the top selling console? I agree, we are pretty bad at extrapolating the future of gaming.
@@darinherrick9224 fucking lol, ps5 is beating record sales, listen to yourself wow
I'm currently saving up to build a new computer, since I moved to a different country and had to sell mine. I've been testing games through GeForce Now because I don't want to waste money on a console and the truth is that the results have been pretty decent. If this Xbox Stick hits the market at a good price (like real low price and suscription), it could be an interesting option for people who are in a similar situation.

Even _if_ they hypothetically "sucked" atleast it isn't forced onto the Playstation user, like how Xbox did with the launch of the Xbox One bundling it with the Kinect which nobody wanted which also made it more expensive than PS4.
"is there someone that DOESN'T have a console that would USE this?"
That's really only only question you need to answer. Comparing image quality and latency to native hardware kinda misses the point.
If they had a console, they'd just use that.
X cloud isn't targeting that group.
I think WiFi is a major culprit. From my experiments with streaming at home (various technologies), I found it acceptable with Ethernet, unacceptable with WiFi (even with at-home streaming). WiFi introduces framerate instability that would make gaming annoying even for people who are not sensitive to these kinds of things. But maybe it depends on your home WiFi setup and YMMV.
DF in east Asia, Wi-Fi is part of the train. There moving fast on the train isn't switching between providers. We here in most of Europe lack this on trains and you in the USA lack trains.
America lacks in just about EVERYTHING, lol 😂.
I got it today - works great. Thea idea is for the wife & kids to use it, when I am at work. My Series X was looking at me strange though, when I approached the tv with that tiny fire stick...
Consoles are a mean to an end: selling software. While a console is a one-time sale, people may spend more than what they spend on the hardware.
Saying that "you don't need an Xbox to play Xbox games" it doesn't mean that they are the dropping the console market. It means that people can skip what was holding them off from experiencing those games: affording the hardware. I know that not everyone in US or Europe can afford $500 for a console, but it's way more affordable than lots of other places, like every single country in South America, for example.
Yeah but then you need to be able to afford the infrastructure FOR the streaming, which negates that perk.
Just bought the firestick 4k 2-3 days ago. Will follow up on review, was literally only reason I wanted it.
how was it?
@RKOFitness first person shooters still have some ways to go, for sure. Cod is probably the best streaming first person shooter on the cloud to date. Anything single player and fighting games are really responsive. Your mileage will depend heavily on your internet connection, keep that in mind. Does it replace the console? Absolutely not. Would I take this with me on trips and have in another room in the house? Absolutely.
Xbox knew the Series S would sell better. The Series X was an afterthought
"Xbox series x...the most optional console of all time" (Skill Up 2020)
They have an identity crisis and internal power struggle. The Series X console with DRM, no jailbreak, and games not being complete on disc is the main reason I haven't bothered with them. In a controlled ecosystem they don't need to innovate. They can drip feed garbage day one as long as you pay for their subscription service. Their key franchises are dying. The only way (outside of DRM free on PC) for Gears and Halo to live on at a console level is for those games to get ported to Playstation where you can buy physical and digital as there are methods to preserve what you bought. Streaming games is never a good thing for several reasons, but the writing is on the wall for XBOX. They don't give a sh*t about their original fans.
Yes....because when I pay £70 for a game, I visually like it to look like a PS2 game.
Oh, but dont worry I can skip that £70 cost with Gamepass..."for ONLY £15 a month (180 pound a year) you can play Indiana Jones, we promise it's good unlike our past 4 years effort of exclusives"
HOW can the Next Xbox be a Custom Design for People with different Tastes if it was said that
THE NEXT XBOX WILL BE THE BIGGEST TECHNOLOGICAL LEAP IN HISTORY!???
The problem with Microsoft's 'long-term thinking' strategy is: a) they drop the ball in the short and medium terms and therefore make themselves irrelevant before 'long-term' ever arrives; and b) they're terrible at predicting long-term trends anyway (e.g. motion controls, always online, games as netflix).
Today: Microsoft Axes An Entire DEI Team Claiming “DEI Programs Everywhere Are No Longer Business Critical Or Smart As They Were In 2020”
I'd be interested to see a video about how much infrastructure and technology needs to improve for games to be streamed at the same quality as if they were running locally
The thing is that not everyone has the money to have both systems and when I comes to the Xbox MS just wants ppl to experience Xbox even if it’s not the console and being able to pay $20 for the experience on your phone is pretty cool. The problem is that some people either dont have a stable internet connection or don’t have a device that runs Xcloud properly, and they complain. 🤷🏽♂️ as for me I don’t have any of those problems unless I’m at a Hospital or Walmart, besides that it usually runs flawlessly.
Streaming video games is the feature. It's just about the economics of potential customers. Think of it as people buying old dvd players and netflix taking over and integrating even new customers. That's what's going to happen with video games streaming. Microsoft is just starting to invest in this market but they will be the ones taking over.

Ten countries collectively account for 77% of global video game revenues, and every single one of them (and several others) has passed legislation within the last four years to ensure high speed internet is available to *all* their citizens. Add to this all the reasons corporations have to favour streaming game services -- elimination of piracy, total control over mods, stable monthly revenues, low consumer buy-in, etc. -- and it becomes clear that all console manufacturers and the majority of publishers will eventually release games exclusively on streaming game services.

Microsoft just needs to stop cheaping out with the versions they put on cloud. Often they’ll only include the inferior Series S or even Xbox One versions of a game for cloud streaming.
So you think the higher fidelity games would stream more info easier?
4k 60 FPS over HDMI had a bitrate of about 16 Gbps. Streaming bit rates cap out at around 50 Mbps or 0.05 Gbps. No matter the quality of the source video, that much compression is going to look bad. Maybe you will have lower latency and potentially higher framerates, using more powerful hardware server-side but visuals will still be shit.
Didn't Google failed with their Stadia platform, which was very similar to this?
I always still find it quite fascinating that the best and only choice I have in Comcast internet, where I live. I have literally no choice for anything better. Every single time, game streaming, regardless of hardware, absolutely sucks. I can't even play a short gaming session without it grossly artifacting, pausing completely for seconds, and often with disconnects complaining about connections. Yeah, I can stream 4K movies easily, but it's because buffers save the day. Game streaming doesn't have that luxury, so I end up getting people making this discussion about a kind of gaming service I can't utilize. I'd literally have to completely move to whatever *lucky* place I could perhaps take advantage of.
Of course, there's no way THAT cost would be worth it. *Hey, I decided to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and uprooted my life, so I can do video game streaming. I guess I really "SAVED" so much money not buying that console or PC.*
Richard try Luna with the Luna Cloud controller as a comparison
I really don’t understand why there is such an issue with Sony’s game streaming. When I’ve tried many streaming services in the past, they all had lag and poor compression artifacts. However, whenever I play a PlayStation 5 game via streaming on the PlayStation 5, I absolutely cannot tell that I’m streaming it. It looks exactly like it’s local, pixel for pixel, and there is absolutely zero lag. It is probably the most perfect streaming I’ve ever tried, so I just don’t understand why Alex is making faces about PlayStation 5 game streaming.
I’ve also tried Nvidia’s offering, and while it is very good, I get regular hitches. The PlayStation 5 is on par with it, although it lacks some features like 120 Hz. On the other hand, Xbox game streaming is absolutely the worst streaming experience I’ve ever had. It is extremely blocky and only 720p.
I have fiber optic 2 gigabit Internet, so that obviously plays a factor.
Microsoft is onto something here. Cloud gaming sucks for now, but that'll definitely change in a couple of years.
I have been bearish on game streaming for years, but noone is talking about how the save file sync lock in is an issue moving off Steam or PS

An Xbox controller is $65 right now, and a fire stick with a controller is $68 plus a 1 month Game Pass ultimate. Thanks to Amazon Prime day. I am 100% buying this for my girlfriend who barely plays video games. but even if it wasn't for her, $3 more for a fire stick is definitely worth it.
Microsoft itself steadily grew in the background behind Apple and Amazon to overtake them in valuation almost entirely from its SAAS and services library. There's zero doubt Xbox will be a service platform within 5-8 years. They will essentially hold their studios ransom.
Netflix Germany is also bad when it comes to bitrate. The highest I could find on the current portfolio was 4.12 Mbit/s fo 1080p.
I really enjoy being able to stream games in other rooms. I'm actually thinking of getting rid of my Series S. Best of all is being able to use a Dual Shock 4. I hate the Xbox controller. But I'm probably a different kind of gamer as I'm mainly interested in PC VR over console games.
I got one today, installed the app, tried it, wiped it and posted it back for a refund. Even with wifi 6E and a fast fibre connection, the performance was appalling.
I'd say it's either the strength of your device when it comes to decoding data, how close you are to a data center, both, or something else. Main reason I say that is because I run at a measly 20mb w/an outdated router and the line is an old broadband line, but I've had a blast playing Halo and Forza. My nephew believes in PC gaming wholeheartedly, but when I asked him to try it when I was playing, he couldn't believe it. It was like we were playing locally.
@@ME-yb2lmI’d be inclined to agree with you, but cloud gaming on my XSS is a much better experience. Not perfect, but much less laggy than on the fire stick.
Sony has over 100 million customers between the ps4 and ps5. They can keep releasing console and be just fine.
And most players will stick to this model simply because, like we or not, Sony still delivers the best games in industry. 90% of their releases are always among the best games of the year, and the generation.
They most disappointing titles are pretty average compared to the rest of the industry.
2:53 yes, yes you do know. Lol we all know.
It definitely is not.
People all over North America still complain about internet quality. What about other countries? Countries with worse internet then NA?
This isn't smart
North America has some of the worst internet in the developed world. If you have worse than the US, you probably shouldn't be buying into cloud. Common sense isn't so common anymore though.
@@zxZethxz that's my point. If their biggest demographic doesn't have the required internet needed for this to work properly...well why is this even being discussed?
We are no where near a point where playing a mp match on cod as an example, over a streaming service, will ever be acceptable, let alone the preferred way to play
Internet latency is everything when it comes to game.streaming. I had 500 MB/s internet before but Cloud gaming sucked because the latency was over 100 ms. I have 500 MB/s FTH internet now with less then 10 ms latency and the difference is night and day.
How do you play multiplayer on fire stick Xbox console less? Bc it won’t let me connect the other controller.
How difficult would it be for them to send the data and let the console do the processing?
No mention of Google and their data centers. Would be the best option for any cloud gaming solution in my opinion. As long as the software is good, Google would be perfect!
I just want streaming from an Xbox to a device on my network instead of from the cloud. I have a One S, One X, Series S, and Series X all hooked up in my house (One S/X mostly for bluray movies) and would like to just stream my disc based games from Series X to another Xbox or my PC.
Everybody was eagerly waiting to stream xbox games. No one asked for a Gears of War collection, not a single person. The fire stick though, that was the little push I needed to join the hype train.
maybe 1% of the world have internet fast enough for this to not feel like crap
Uh no all you need is 1000mbps lol
1%? really? lmao man please stop it
@@deadlyx that's like 80 million people so I am being generous. Math is hard huh?
@@Pow3r-Up i think its super higher than that
20Mb is all you need.
The problem I have with all of this is that Xbox in the cloud is actually just Game Pass. I don't want JUST Game Pass, I want my entire Xbox digital library AND Game Pass. Why don't they take the local experience we have now, where we can sign in, go to our dashboard, browse the store, buy games, DLCs and subscriptions and so on, and make that the cloud gaming experience? Ubiquitous access to Game Pass is NOT the same as ubiquitous access to Xbox. I would actually be a big supporter of the latter, where I can access the Xbox platform with my games and saved data from a tablet, a smart TV, an Amazon Fire Stick, a website, or locally via an Xbox console or Windows PC.
I find the comment Alex made about the Microsoft store a bit weird, it works fine, never had a crash on it. The only issue is it is more like the App Store on iOS, and the equivalent on Mac.
Its always worked great for me too. People just like to carry on narratives. He probably hasn't even tried it, just going off the consensus thats been ongoing for years.
I've got the Cloud app running on my Samsung TV. Would the app running on a Firestick be the same? Any benefit in getting one instead?
Then there's me, who hasn't owned an Xbox for about 2+ years and has been streaming just fine. I think people misunderstand "not the best" to mean "bad". This isn't the best way to game, true. It's also not a bad way to game.
Seriously man, Xbox needs to massively improve their streaming quality if they want to push this to the world.
They could be more upfront and just say "we're done with game consoles".
If the 4k gaming streaming solution hasn't been resolved in 2024, it is clear to me that hardware is here to stay for many many years to come. My goodness I have fiber 1000 gig speed and it still sucks to stream
It will be interesting to see how Xbox streaming evolves, but ppl love to doubt Microsoft, but they continue to succeed. I have a black Series S for travel gaming, but I’m really considering getting a firestick as yet another option.
Once or twice a year I check if Xbox cloud improved but so far every time (also recently) I had only very poor experience with it. I always experience some visual glitches, sometimes audio glitches as well, bitrate is very low (I literally can see macroblocks sitting 3 meters from TV). Lag in 60 fps is bearable, but I would not recommend playing in cloud 30 fps games at all. What always bothered me is that games looked 1080p or worse and had no HDR and no VRR. Also performance was sometimes much worse than on my Series X but I thought this is streaming related issue.
And now you tell me that Xbox cloud support only Series S games? That's not good. I'm shocked they advertise Game Pass on Samsung and Amazon. I wonder how many people already got disappointed with Microsoft because of that?
Recently I had a chance to play for an hour a 60 fps PS5 game on PS cloud and I was really surprised how good it look and feel. Nice picture quality, no audio/visual problems at all, lag was ok. Only downwards for me was again no HDR and no VRR. But still surprise me that Sony is doing it better than Microsoft. Perhaps MS servers are much more occupied? Idk.
No hate here, I'm no fanboy, this is my honest opinion based on my experience.
Not good enough to who though .... mums and kids will be fine with the quality especially at the price point
Why is there no local multiplayer? I would've considered it then.
🤢🤮 CLoud Gaaaiming another xbox low point.
