- It saddens me that it took so long to discover Linkin Park and even sadder that Chester is no longer with us. While this group focuses on heavy content, their musical contributions are out of this world!!!

I'm sorry Larry but you're wrong saying this is not the music to listen to if you're depressed. This music gave hope to millions of kids knowing they weren't alone.
Yeah I totally agree that this song isn’t one that pulls u into sadness but gets you sense of “somewhere I belong”. When you feel down and alone and listen to this song, you get a sense that your not alone and there many others who feel the same way and the is somewhere u belong
Yes. When it's hard to talk to others openly about your true feelings and a band like this actually shares those same feelings through song it becomes a heavy coping mechanism
100%
the fact that it's relatable to so many is exactly why it's a savior.
it's the definition of their music
I can totally see your point.
After he died, the band released a statement including this:
"We’re trying to remind ourselves that the demons who took you away from us were always part of the deal. After all, it was the way you sang about those demons that made everyone fall in love with you in the first place. You fearlessly put them on display, and in doing so, brought us together and taught us to be more human."
Linkin Park lyics helped me through depression and millions of others growing up when their music came out. After Chester died the music hits so different now because we couldn't help him the way he did us.
Your Linkin Park journey is one that you will not regret
This is one of my absolute favorite songs. Chester’s lyrics has always been so meaningful and relatable. 😊
I miss Chester so much. Everyone who was going though depression could relate to this music and know the weren't alone. Chester (Linkin Park) saved so many of us. I wish we could have done the same for him.
He had a rough life. He was sexually abused by a family friend from the age of 7 to 13. He finally told his father, who ironically was a vice officer. Chester didn't press charges when he found out his abuser had also suffered the same abuse. I don't know if I would have done the same. Chester had a drug and alcohol problem for a long time. He had cleaned up. He does have videos you can watch where he explains what his depression was like. Really sad. He was a caring loving person. If you get a chance he has a live video that he is really close to his fans. Crawing- One more light live.
Also anything from live from Red Square. All amazing. They were even better live.
Miss you Chester..
Thanks so much for the background on him. His content was very evident of his pain.
I'll say it on every Linkin Park reaction, they helped the younger generations through those teen traumas, made talking about mental health normal. The "joke" that every mellenial is in therapy is in part because the music we listened to made it ok to seek help
Oh Chester how we miss your amazing voice and your beautiful precious soul. ❤
The best part of LP in my opinion is that just about all of their music can fit whatever your current emotions are. If you’re depressed, they provide light at the end of the tunnel. At the same time, they can be spun to have humbling meanings. Love me some LP! 💙
I’m currently going through a depression phase, I’ve been through a hard breakup, music is helping so much, and Linkin Park is the best band to listen to, I never thought I’d go through what Chester sang about. But I am and feel if I’m not alone. I absolutely love Linkin Park, they’re my favorite band again.
Hey bud! I don't want to pretend that I know how you feel because I clearly don't. I never went through a breakup but I was standing on a bridge, looking down, crying, ready to jump, ready to end the pain but I'm so glad I gave myself another chance. This cool graying dude you've just watched saved my life. It's almost two years now. I went to therapy and changed my life A LOT!
What I'm trying to say is... bad times will be over one day. Sooner than you know.
I was depressed for 14 years (I still am to be honest). I wanted to kill myself many times and I'm still having those days sometimes but I know ending it is not an option.
You've got this my friend! I believe in you! Keep pushing forward!
I'm a simple man. When I see larryshair react to Eminem or Linkin Park, I click
dude!!!
Same !!
lol, thanks guys!
I love Lincoln Park for the few songs I know. I've never heard this song, and again, ❤❤I'm blown away
With all the love shown for chester let's not forget about Mike Shinoda (the guy rapping). his contribution to linkin park is just as big as chester, he writes most of the songs and has an extensive background in song writing. Easily one of the most underrated writers of the early 2000s!
Unexpected uploads are the best! 😊
Love the song, love the reaction, love this channel, love you! 😊
Have a great weekend bud! 😉
lol, you too!
@@larryshair Larry you need to watch the new music video for the song "Friendly Fire" by Linkin Park. I think it´s more relevant than ever, also be prepared to cry :(.
"Easier to Run" - same Meteora album! You'll like it. Both songs are easily among my all-time Linkin Park favourites! Thanks for your reactions and always interesting anecdotes!
Please check out "Waiting for the End" is one of my favorite songs by Linkin Park.
One of LP's best tracks!
Hybrid Theory!!!!!!
Linkin Park is my favorite band of all time but you really need to watch some of their live performances to really understand how incredible Chesters voice really was. It was next level and nobody today can compare.
This lyrics saved millions for depression. Myself included.
I know you didn't mean anything by it, but this is exactly the kind of music to listen to if you feel depressed. Sure, with certain people and personalities it could deepen their misery, but I think a lot of people (me included) felt validated and encouraged knowing that someone we looked up to went through the same things we did.
I know it seems counterintuitive, but there's catharsis in hearing someone articulate and put to music all of the terrible feelings you feel. It doesn't work for everyone, but for alot of people, tapping into and entertaining the darker and more depressing parts of your psyche via emotional music is the exact release needed to work through those feelings. You said we were all created for a purpose, if God truly has a purpose for all of us, then Chester's purpose was absolutely to guide millions upon millions of people, myself included, through a darkness that he himself was lost in. It's a twisted and unfair irony, but fulfill that purpose he did. I believe his effect is immeasurable. Much love brother ✊🏼
R.I.P. Chester
You Are so wrong, this is the best music to listen If you feel down.
Because you feel that you Are not alone and you can relate 😢
You should give 'Roads Untravelled' by Linkin Park a listen too, i think you'd really enjoy it
Such a good reaction 💛
HEYYYYYY!!!! This is a wonderful suprise!! Thanku SO MUCH!! I loved your reaction to this!! I’m gonna watch it again now!
Sending love and a hug!💗🤗
Love ya!
👋😊🤗
@@that_averagetyphey my friend how you doing?? This was a surprise wasn’t it!
@@Sandy_justme I love this kind of surprises 😊
I'm having one of those days again 😕 but I've had a little talk with "Dad" earlier and it helped A LOT. I know I repeat it over and over again but I love him so freaking much! He's my hero 😊
@@Sandy_justme how about you? 🤗
@@that_averagetypI’m sorry you’re having one of those days, I’m sending you a big hug, I totally understand how you feel about Chris and I think we should always take the opportunity to say those words I love you to those we do love. I’ve lost 2friends to tragic accidents and I will never not say I love you. Wish I could throw my arms around you and squeeze all the pain away, you will get through this!! Sending love and a prayer for you too🤗
The sample that the song opens with is actually Chester playing the acoustic guitar. I think it was Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn who took that recording, cut it into four parts (1-2-3-4), reversed the chords (so it played 4-3-2-1), and flipped the audio backwards (so it retained the 1-2-3-4 chord progression).
dude..that's complex!
All of Linkin Parks music got to me from their beginning, but after Chester’s passing I really tuned everything else out when listening to each song with my earbuds in and they hit so much harder. Genius in their writing. Such an enormous loss!!!!
Thank you for the Linkin Park reaction!
9:15 I actually believe the total opposite is true. The reason this music exists is because of times like you describe and the people who relate to them the most do so because of shared similar experiences. This music is often the only time they feel understood. Without this music they might think they were completely alone but you can listen to a song and realize that someone else has felt this way too. It gives you the hope you need to keep going.
I know you’re trying to open up the rotation, but Cinderella Man by Eminem! Need it in my life!
First view, first like and first comment
Keep up the good work. Love your videos
Thanks so much!
They released the album papercuts singles collection a week ago and this gem is on there such a great song👍
The most important message from the story LP is telling here … even when you are with the ones you love and the people closest to you … You still don’t feel like you belongs … mentally and physically 💙🙏🏽
So very sad
The intro is done by chester playing guitar done in reverse That ended up becoming the foundation of the song
Quite the opposite, this is the music I listened to in my darkest days of my younger years. It helped me process my anger and sadness and allowed me to express it somehow (something I've always struggled to do). It's great to exorcise your demons in a way.
I'll leave some suggestions you MUST check out here:
Nightwish - you can start with Ghost Love Score, How's The Heart, Endlessness, Romanticide
Linkin Park - really, do check out their collab with Jay-Z, it's 6 songs, they made a concert, but you can also do the album versions if you prefer. They're amazing. Also check out Given Up, live ua-cam.com/video/i9euUYBygww/v-deo.html
I don't usually try to recommend too much. Especially covers. But if you haven't heard Linkin Park's live cover of Rolling in the Deep (Adele) I would highly recommend. Guarenteed to give you chills!
This song though is amazing and pretty introspective, thoughtful and relatable. :) great reaction and glad you loved it!!
You should give A Thousand Suns a listen, it's a concept album they did about nuclear war
"I'd love to know his background."
Would you though? 🤷♂️
Nobody carries that much pain because good things happened.
Lots of sexual abuse by a close family member. Internet lore is that his biological father was podesta, the resemblance is striking
"Would you though?
Nobody carries that much pain because good things happened."
Agreed, I know the background, and you might not want to. As someone with a similar background, it is not a pretty picture.
I recommend that anyone who hasn't already checks out the LP album Reanimation. It's basically the songs from Hybrid Theory remixed. It is amazing.
Linkinpark songs saved my life bro.
Hey Chris, I really think you will like the Money game trillogy from Ren!
People who say things like 'this isn't what you listen to if you're depressed' clearly doesn't understand depression. When you're depressed, the last thing in the whole entire world you want or need is music full of sunshine and rainbows. You need music that says 'I get it, I know how you feel'.
Don't understand, not doesn't
I can‘t agree with that to be honest.
Linkin Park is the perfect Band to listen if you feel down, they where and still are able to help so so many people with the music.
And that makes it even more painful that Chat chose his way out… he is still badly missed.
As a normal dude with the same sickness in his head.. i can relate to most of the songs.. if your in this place, in this sea of nothingness, there isn‘t much for you to feel.. every now and then its a feeling of sadness or anger, but thats it.
Linkin Park ALLWAYS helped me at my darkest points. Thats why i‘m still here.
And now after Chat left us, WE have to fight, because we have to #MakeChesterProud
Sad that you haven't heard their rap group., Fort Minor..they do both genres well
Mmm. Quite a lot of LP music is pretty dark and heavy. They have a few that aren't so much, but, Chester suffered a lot in his life truly, and so did Mike to an extent. Chester was sexually abused as a kid.. And thankfully made it out. And had a lot of struggles in general.
I’m so glad you loved the song 😊 I Looked up about the meaning of the Chinese characters and the video: The band's turntablist, Joe Hahn, directed the music video. It begins with Chester Bennington walking into a room that bears the Chinese characters for fire and water on the door. As he falls asleep, the symbols come alive in his dream as the band performs in front of flames and Shinoda raps in front of a waterfall. Hahn told MTV of the concept: "It's another very visual concept. It's basically a dream sequence that's taking place, and the familiar objects in the room are turning into the reality, which is the dream, which is not the reality. It's a whole play on your mind”
I Didn’t know whether to post this comment or not because it’s so difficult but
..This song for me is about breaking free from the pain and loneliness of child trauma/S abuse and all the baggage it dumps on you. And finding somewhere I belong.
“Till I break away from me” (powerful words!) as a child you feel powerless with no one to protect you to give you comfort. And you’re silenced (“nothing to say”) by fear. The dream sequence is so relatable because of disassociating to somewhere in your mind as a coping mechanism too. And as an adult desperately wanting to break away and heal from the pain of the abuse and the damage that its done (to “erase it all till it’s gone”) It’s a mountain to climb but I know im not on my own there’s so many others who are on the same journey as me ( like Chester was) we can help each other and we can conquer it!!! “I’ll breakaway I’ll find myself TODAY”
Love your wise words Chris you are so right Thankyou!
💗🫶🏻💗
We will help you climb that mountain my dear friend 😊🤗
@@that_averagetyp Thankyou🥲
@Sandy_justme the fire and water I think are because Chester was a mixture of Pisces and Aries. Chester was born on the last day of the Pisces sign and so he also had Aries mixed in there. Pisces a water sign and Aries a fire sign. Chester had koi fish (Pisces) on both his shoulders and the Flames (Aries) around both his wrist.
@@that_averagetyp You already are helping🙏 I would never have put a comment like this, it feels so raw and vulnerable but when I’ve seen how you have shared some of what you’ve been through and also that Chris says we can help others by being able to come alongside them, it gave me the courage to put a little of my heart out there too.
I was so thankful when you commented on it I was starting to feel I’d done the wrong thing😔 I had a very tough day yesterday and I was very close to deleting the 2nd half of my comment, but your kind words really lifted me🙏
Thanku Karol
@@sadiekincaid5310 I didn’t know that, that’s really interesting! 😊
nah this music is exactly what i listen to when im depressed
sunshine happy music just makes me feel way worse
linkin park and eminem...i'll ALWAYS watch these reviews (and tupac, DMX if u do, etc)
Speaking of which... you should do dmx - Slippin'
My youngest introduced me to them many years ago. You learn from your kids. Maybe he will learn from his son in a few years. (Think I'm getting old)
why Chris? why? where's your beard? 😩 and Chris, this song should be listen to because it tells us " I know. Now find a way out of whatever this is. You got this!"
😂This was recorded a little while ago when the beard had been removed YT blocked it so had to wait the 30 days( I think it was 30 days anyway🤔) till he could try again
Right?! He looks like a newborn without his beard, lol 🤭🤭
Sorry Chris, I couldn't resist 😅
@@Sandy_justme 😂 even YT did not like the clean shave.

I understand u have a hard time understanding Sia, and i have only just subscribed but i would love ur opinion on Elastic Heart video . Thank Suzanne Woosgate
Hi Chris
I disagree with your statement: „if you‘re mentally depressed this is not the music want to be listening to“.
Finding art that is relatable and echoes your emotions and things you are going through can be, and certainly is in my case, the best therapy of all. You seem like a genuinely solid guy to me, i watched many of your videos, but going through shit, it helps connecting with people who also went through shit.
Love that you found Linkin Park.
Please listen also to Leave out all the rest:
ua-cam.com/video/yZIummTz9mM/v-deo.htmlsi=lWO2U_Ga21FJJgh2
Both of you are right. I'm dealing with pretty bad depression as well and I love to listen to songs like that but it makes you kinda accept your illness instead of fighting with it... which makes you even more depressed at the end. Listening to something happier and uplifting is way better. Depends on the stage of your depression I guess. Chris encouraged me to fight and I'm changing my life now but I'm still having those days sometimes when all I want to do is to end it. I'm trying to avoid listening to my old "depressed playlist" to not fall into that pit of feeling sorry for myself again.
It's kinda like addiction. I've quit smoking, haven't touched a cigarette for 16 months now and I know that I'd fall right back to that addiction if I took one puff. It's like falling back to what you know best... same with music... it's good to try something different and see the results.
Wish you a great day, @arachano89 🙂
@@that_averagetyp well said!👍 Keep fighting Karol!!🤗
Yeah, could you do more Linkin Park? Please? Can you do the song called from the inside? And another song called pushing me away reanimation style
Please check out these 2 songs by Fort Minor:
- Where'd You Go?
- Remember The Name.
No, neither are about Chester.
But Fort Minor is a short-lived hiphop side project that Mike Shinoda did with a couple members of Styles Of Beyond.
Also, for another song in the ssme emotion realm as "Somewhere I Belong", check out Stone Sour - Bother.
Stone Sour is a side project by Corey Taylor from Slipknot, the latter being another band worth checking out....and a way different vibe than you're used to.
Kenji is another good song of theirs
"Leave out all the rest" is Linkin Park's best song in my opinion
Have u listen to Heavy?
Joyner lucas - ROSS CAPICCHIONI...PLEASSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT
