Thanks for taking the time to do this! I believe there has been an update as I am able to use the jog wheel with some adjustments to the sensitivity. Certainly a useful tool for building string outs, selects and rough assemblies for myself. Brings me back to my RM450 days.
Thanks for the compliment. Are you using Premiere Pro? I looked for an update to CommandPost and I'm up to date. I have found my jog wheel times out after 5 minutes regardless of my settings though I did hear that FCPx (and possibly Avid) are supposed to work with the jog wheel. I actually removed my jog wheel entirely from one of my speed editors, lol. It works great for me with JKL and I can rest my hand where the jog wheel used to be. I don't advise this for anyone not willing to take apart the unit but it can be done. It's so sad removing the coolest part of the unit, but I'm a professional editor and prefer to work as fast as possible and the jog wheel was getting in the way... I'm keeping my other Speed Editor stock just in case.
@@StrykEdits Yes. Using Premiere's latest vers 24.1. No issues with the jog wheel on my end. I also have Monogram's Orbiter. Prefer that for feel and precision, but if just making a rough assembly, selects, etc will just Speed Editor JKL and then use it's jog wheel for minor adjustments. Can send you a video of it in action if you like.
thanks for updating me on this!@@kvleditorial6208 Still not sure what is causing my timeout issues. My Speed Editor is firmware is Version 1.4.4, Build b13612e5. I'm using the same version of Premiere as you. I'm doing fine without the jog wheel though. My other video about the Slimblade trackball shows how I use that to jog. It's actually quite nice for jogging and especially awesome for shuttling fast. The monogram looks sweet but I already have a my main keyboard, Tourbox, Loupedeck Live, customized Keychron QO Plus, and the trackball so I don't have much room for anything else. The QO is my favorite new editing tool. It's build like a tank and looks great. I might do a video on that when I free up from work.
Can I still use the pad in Davinci Resolve with the default configuration? I usually switch back and forth between those two programs and I was wondering if it would cause any compatibility issues. Thank you for explaining this
Thank you very much for this video, it's not very often I may be the 11th subscriber! Are you Brazilian by any chance? Your english accent suggests so.
I haven't recorded a video yet, but I've figured out how to use CommandPost to switch "banks." A bank is a saved layout of all the customized keys. This means that I can press a key on the Speed Editor to switch over to a brand new layout, where I can change whatever keystrokes I want. For example: on Bank 2, I kept all the keys the same but switched out the middle number keys to work for a Multicam edit, instead of target selection. So now cam 1 is Multicam 1, similar to how the Speed Editor works in Resolve. This is huge because it means that we are able to map the keyboard to have completely different functions with a keypress, then another keypress takes you back to the original layout. In theory you could have two totally different layouts without any shared keys---a completely new custom keyboard that you can access instantly. I'll do a video soon where I show how this stuff works for a basic Multicam edit. I'm like 95% of editors-- who rarely has to edit in Multicam, but it's nice to know we can customize the keyboard to work for completely different functions if needed.
Strangely enough, my spare Speed Editor does not have the Jog/Wheel timeout in Premiere. If anyone is having this issue (where the jog wheel stops working after 5min or so) it might be the version of Speed Editor you have. Both my Speed Editors' have firmware 1.4.4. My original Speed Editor was purchased when they were first released, so this could be caused by an older version of the product. If anyone knows, please chime in. Best of luck.
Yes you can. But if you customize it, it will not match resolve. Resolve does not allow you to customize the functions, If you use both programs a lot, and want to move the keys around, you might want 2 separate Speed Editors. I have 3, 😂
question: i have setup the speed editor and opened my premiere pro. doesnt matter how many times i push the buttons nothing happened. do i have to activate/recall the editor on the premiere pro?
I still think it must be a setting in CommandPost. Make sure to check Emable Davinci at top of resolve tab in CommandPost. Also uncheck ignore application on the right. And finally make sure your version of Premiere is selected at the middle of the screen. Hope it works! I have 3 Speed Editors that all work.
thanks for the video. i just try with mac Pr pro and final cut, is working as it should, but i cannot import the settings in command post ? i have to set all the button one by one ? am i missing some steps? please teach me🙇🏻♂️
Sorry I wasn't very clear in the video about exactly how this works-- It's pretty advanced and I talk about the process as if the viewer has a lot of experience with editing and custom keys. I made this video rather quickly as more of a livestream "proof of concept" rather than a simple how to video. Please read my description under the video where I try and get more detailed. This only works for Mac and I've only tested with the latest version of Premiere Pro. To use my settings, import the keyboard layout to Premiere Pro (I have a description on how to do this in the provide link). My Premiere settings are nearly identical to the default Resolve keyboard layout--very customized and different from the default Premiere layout. My personalized CommandPost settings only work if you've imported and selected my keyboard settings in Premiere. Ideally, you can try out my settings to see how this works, but most of the customization will have to be done manually to match your own settings. The attached PNG of my personalized layout should be used as a guide as to what keyboard shortcuts you should map. I posted this to inspire people to make their own customization. Unless someone has very similar settings to mine in Premiere, this is definitely not a plug and play using my settings files. Good luck!
I uploaded another version of the settings to be safe, but I think they were probably fine before. Make sure you choose the application Premiere Pro in the drop menu before importing on the Resolve keyboard page in CommandPost @@alan701
Sorry, CommandPost is Mac only. On MacOS, It works for all programs except Resolve...Ironic, but Davinci overrides the program. Please check with the developer, if he will plans to port it for PC
Thanks for telling me about this. I just turned on advanced UA-cam features and uploaded my ID. Hopefully this will be verified in a day and they will allow clickable links.

Thanks dude. I have a tourbox and love it so much . I want to like the speed editor so much that I'm gonna give it the college try.
Good luck! It's not too hard to use Commandpost. It's a very easy program to understand.
Your directions were great and I was playing around with it even before you sent the links. Thanks again!
does it work with avid ?
I believe it does but I haven't tested it. I've read that it does.
