Maybe unpopular opinion - I don't expect celebrities to be nice. I don't expect famous musicians, actors, artists, etc to be personable or nice. I expect them to be good at what they do, and that's about it.
Honestly, she’s smart. No one should have this many feelings for a random woman online anyway, the reasonable crowd will stay. People who followed and will follow her for her personality, music and art in general will be with her. As for people who worry a little too much about her personal life and her feelings towards them they’re creepy anyway, she ain’t losing shit by them not supporting her.
Lmao dating a man who have abuse women is disgusting period , clearly you are delutional thinking she care about you ,i cant separate the artist fror the art, hence by what you say i bet that you have no problem supporting r@pist or dude who have beat their partner since you are " reasonable " 😂 , sad that you just acting like little sheep toward someone who literally could not care less
Exactly what I’ve been saying too!! People are forgetting that artists are just humans too and maybe don’t like being idolized like this and stopped from making their own choices because it looks bad to them morally. It’s tiring, good for doja tho!!
08:54 The "I quit" moment happened when Doja Cat was in Paraguay, and the entire country canceled her for being mean to her fans. She received a lot of hate from the people of Paraguay
Sort of what happenes when you’re acting like a xenophobic idiot. She can be glad they didn’t get racist, because latinos do not play about being racist when presented the chance.
To add context Asunción was experiencing terrible floods and fans STILL showed up to support her, after which she still (allegedly) behaved ungratefully thus the hate from Paraguay fans
Also most of Latinamerica, including Puerto Rico. As linguistic group we may fight but if someone does something autroucious to our cousins countries we will figth and defend them.
She’s one of those artists who’s never boring. She’s always changing! her sound, her looks, her whole vibe! and that’s what makes her so fun to follow. You never know what she’ll do next. She’s fearless, creative and just so exciting to watch.
if she was sick of being famous she'd do like Rihanna and stop making music, she loves being famous and relevant but struggles with her image and fans.
She's a problematic mess but I love her music Edit: I think she's gonna keep being successful and could become a pop culture icon as long as her artistic output is high quality. I think her change in direction will benefit her in the long term. With that said I think she needs to play her cards well and not be too chaotic. Authenticity is great but without relatability the mainstream won't connect with her brand. She can be avant garde, rebellious and provocative without the hostility and defensiveness.
She taught her self how sing 🎤 😅😂😂😂that’s terrible singing music and how treat others on top make unlikable and when she old very few people will want deal with her
Tbh i dont listen to her music but i support every single angry message she sent out ahaha The importance we put on famous people is outrageous, the way we comment every step (allegedly every step you take by police is not about a stalker but about fans), word, action, we put them on a pedistal without reason and we want to take them down when we get tired. We feel entitled to their LIFE AND CAREER. Shit is crazy. Remember she is an artist. She is not a Kardashian. She didnt choose this she just wanted to make music. It's basically whe Chappell has been in the news and I support her message too. We need to start looking at real people in our life for love, to support and admire this much. Real people we actually know and care about
Doja has something that makes whatever she does acceptable, which is talent. She cannot stop serving hits, she can tell her fans to eff off however much she wants.
I really don't like saying that buying a cosmetic to take care of yourself mentally It has nothing to do with it it's marketing based on buying emotions, I think it's simply harmful
it does affect you mentally when you feel more beautiful or are more confident. i expierenced it when my acne isn't as horrible as when i was a teen, we humans are in some part that simple. that's why often people do say go shower even if you depressed because it makes you feel cleaner and better. sure it does not solve all your problems but it's a first little step, it does help.
As someone who has struggled with depression/anxiety my whole life, self care does help a lot, even just using lotions/scrubs/washes that have nice holiday smells. It's the little things
she clearly stated in an interview that she doesn't want to be idolized. she doesn't care what people think abt her, and when u don't care abt what people think about you, you do whatever the fuck you want, u get so much free will. if she bothered abt her career she wouldn't have taken a step like that and stayed in her brand cuz it made more money and attracted people. she doesn't want people to look at her outer persona or whatever. she makes music, sells them and you buy it if you want. if you like that music, u listen to that music. shes not an idol, shes an artist making art. she isn't cussing at her "fans" shes cussing at the people who are fucking creepy asf. i mean don't u literally have a job instead of fucking idk idolizing someone and praising them? fan culture is insane. you like it, u listen to it, that's it.
I think she was right when she told people to stop obsessing over her. They don't love her. She doesn't love them. She's an entertainer. That's it. I find it bizarre when people, specifically young females, allow their idolization of a celebrity dictate how they treat others (esp. online), what they believe in, how they act irl, HOW THEY VOTE, etc. It's just weird... You don't know Taylor or Doja or Lizzo or Nicki or anyone... and they don't know you. They care about the money you make them. Period.
YOU SHOULD DO MADISON BEER! It would be interesting bc she’s been in music since 13, got dropped, has released a few albums, etc. Also, Taylor swift would be a good but long epesode bc she’s reinvented herself so many times and has only gotten bigger
I've been a fan of Doja since 2014 when I discovered "So High" and "No Police". I saw her live in 2016 when she was headlining a club. She was over 30min late to her 1hr set and didn't give an apology or explanation. She only performed for 20-somethin minutes and didn't make up the time. I felt like my time was disrespected because I drove 1hr to the club on a Thursday night and I had work the following morning. I'm sure others who attended felt a similar way. Based on that one experience, I'm not surprised at the way she's acting toward her fans lately.
I also started listening back then. Songs like Nunchucks and trauma were on repeat. Honestly, I think I'm so hands off with celebrity culture that their antics don't really matter to me. I think people who feel some way are people who were too close (parasocial) to begin with. People mad at who she's dating but what woman doesn't find herself in a relationship with a terrible man at some point? Definitely think she'll be fine in the long run.
so basically you're judging her based off of one experience from the past when she was late to a set but not considering the numerous amount of times she was on time for performances recently? and also performing full 1 hour sets? lmao, you literally never hear about her being unprofessional. people improve, JP-ek7hb, especially in the field of their careers.
Doja was always a weird girl at heart. It’s nice seeing her go back to her roots aesthetically. The rage bait can be a bit much but she wanted her commercial fans gone asap ig. The fans who get it, get it and the fans who don’t unfollowed in 2 seconds
16:39 as a south african, i really fell inlove with her music again (i hadnt listened to it since 2021 during covid) when she incorporated a small south african musical group on her coachella set.
I read somewhere that most of her dancers are South African! Also she performed in an SA dress a few weeks ago. The peeps of SA will welcome her with open arms. So much love for her. I think she’s awesome 😅❤
I have followed Doja since day one and knew she was a star then, when said cash grabs I believed her but also she is playing a role, from Madonna to Taylor Sw, Rihanna to Miley Cyrus to Katy even, the whole cut the hair, changing the music, rebellious 'era' is a role in the industry. Beyonce with Sasha Fierce, these are the things artist do when you sell out, yes as cliche as it sounds there is a evil force within the industry and to be part of it you sell yourself.I dont see how naive the public doesn't see this pattern of darkness Its not marketing it not genius its a old tool used in the music industry when to control their artist. You might think Madonna, or Rihanna yall favorites are rebellious and 'free' but they're not their puppets who worked hard now reaping benefits of selling out with billboards and Grammys. Doja won't crash she signed herself away that whole "scarlet" album was proof of that, she is now coming back out next year with new pop music. She is a puppet all of them are. Thats why you dont idolize celebrities, the effects of this idolization is parasocial relationships, which Genz is polluted with.
I mean sure the industry forces artist into boxes and uses whatever they see can make them more money. Artist agree because they get to do what they wanted to do and everything that comes with. They aren’t puppets just stuck/part of the industry that is extremely competitive and toxic like any other industry.
I hate being "that guy", but that 'evil force' you mention is literally Satan...music was his gift when he was an angel, after all; the entire Music industry is his playground. This is a large part of the reason as to why there's so much evil in and around the industry (e.g. - Diddy as a most recent example). Now as a disclaimer, I'm NOT saying that "the devil made them do it"...those who do evil, do so of their own volition. The fact is that dark influences run amok in that industry and those who fail to be vigilant against them fall victim by being assimilated by and perpetrating that darkness, all the same.
@@triv4555 yeah u are that guy cause this isn’t about religion just about the flawed system of the industry due to greed and corruption. Every industry has its problems but that doesn’t mean the devil is behind it. It just means that human nature and interest will always corrupt.
as a grow up woman im a bit tired from princess and pink. i wanna see that someone will be crazy and i like when woman destroy something. and yes, she right about she dont need be frineds for fans. thats okay, she is artist, she busy to create something new. if you need a friend, go a find them, kinda strange think that pop star will be your "friend"
@kindallnight1615 yeees, its like think that your therapist or teacher or whateva will be your friend too and everyone will be cute and friendly for you ..... but things dont work like that
I love pizza. It doesn't mean that I want to marry pizza or worship it like it's my god. It just means that I really appreciate pizza as a food. I'd like to think that when fans say that they 'love' an artist that that's what they mean. They deeply appreciate that person and their music. It makes them happy. Likewise, when an artist says that they 'love' their fans, it should mean the same thing. An expression of appreciation. 'Love' is stronger than 'like' and humans tend to talk in extremes so that's where I think using 'love' in that way originated. I don't know why everyone is acting like it's insane, creepy and weird for an artist to say that they love their fans or for fans to say they love an artist. It's not the same as loving your family.
thank you zoe for making this series. I feel like young girls and women don’t understand how much their digital footprint can affect their career and future. you are officially the it girl big sister we always needed
I'd be so hyped to see a Marketing Bestie episode about any of the individual Blackpink girlies! Particularly Jennie and Lisa, but there's plenty to say in Rosé's/Jisoo's regard as well.
She already made a video about bp. And i feel like they're not stable as soloists yet, so it doesn't make sense to make a vid about them when they haven't even realised their 1st albums.
You are the best youtuber for teaching about marketing. I went to business/IT school to study other things, now I binge watch your videos to learn how to build my own brand.
I just don’t understand why she yelled at people wanting a fandom name lol. (edit: ALSO what gags me is that she had that whole meltdown about how inauthentic the pop era was when I think some tracks on the new album could be on her past two.
@@srinblmlmlke because that is a par-asocial relationship and she doesn’t want it. Why should y’all have a name? Can’t u just be a Doja fan? Y’all do too much. The pop era is inauthentic because it had no soul behind it. Look at all the lyrics, it was either about sex or something sexy. Scarlet showed emotion. She spoke about so many controversies on that album. So instead of you coming here and spewing out this stuff, I suggest you actually get into it. It’s so easy to see that her pop stuff were all cash grabs.
And when did she yell at people? Didn’t all that happen on twitter? Did she come on live and yell? Istg I really see why she hates some of y’all 😭 the par-asocialism of it all.
@@stephanieodiase right! Cuz how do you give a random stranger on the internet the power to make you feel upset….you literally don’t know this person. She makes good music and that’s all you should be here for. Who cares if she’s not a good person? How would you even know?
@@ivahtanyi75I don’t even think she was being totally unauthentic, she had some songs that were more lyrical like Rules and she was also just young, having fun and had this internet persona that blew after the Cow song. I agree with this video this was kindof a marketing stunt to get away from that image she was over with and just people thinking she had to care about every single thing people tried to cancel her about. I mean, I don’t even think she’s a great person really but definitely not a demon/villain people try to make her feel. And she stands by her words, half this people did followed her but didn’t really care about the music 🤷🏻♀️
I remember when she went to Paraguay and treated her fans horribly and LATAM twitter exploded!! We all felt so bad for the Paraguayans fans, and Doja later said that she wanted to quit forever
@@BombshElle_7 It was a storm, and her fans were outside of her hotel in the rain while doja twitted that none of her paraguayans fans cared about her enough to visit her at the hotel, which was crazzzzzy because they were literarilly outside and she wouldn't say hello from the window or anything.. keep in mind miley cyrus and other famous artists were in the same situation, at different hotels, interacting with the fans no matter the rain
then doja twitted good things about brazilean fans, and got so much hate for being mean to paraguayans and praising brazileans.. later, when reminded about what happened in paraguay she twitted "i'm not sorry"
No, babes, her hotel address was leaked, and she had people standing outside of said hotel in the middle of the storm, and y'all expected her to go out? Also, her tweet was a reply to a fan saying she didn't greet anyone with her saying, "Nobody was out there the next day." She wasn't being rude in the first place y'all were just dumb and didn't pay attention 😭 Also, she had a whole country calling her racial slurs lmfao
I have seen all your Marketing Bestie Explains, you have helped me a lot with my own business. You made me to think deeper about so many things, I have recommend your videos to al my friends that are content creators, just to tell you that I love your content, personality and aura you irradiate. I see a new video of yours and save it to watch it when I have quality time to focus and enjoy it. Wishing you always the best ZOE !
She is not falling off! Her first solo hit to top the charts was produced with this era! Not to mention how everyone scrambled when she tweeted "album." It's clear that people still love Doja, it's just possible that the group of people who do has shifted a little bit!
yeah we cannot just say “people questioned her dating choices” bcs that downplays what really happened: her boyfriend s*xually abused someone and she started blocking ppl who mentioned it. also you could have mentioned the very weird choice she made to wear sam hyde merch. she’s a whole weirdo
@marianareis258 i suppose, but there's a difference between morality and legality. I think if it's a question of morals, it isn't anyone's business besides the people in her own life 🤷♀️ you can choose not to support her yourself, but the intense public commentary and backlash against a woman and her choices is...well, it's interesting to say the least. It makes sense she would pivot to more demonic visuals considering there's so much scrutiny on her (and by proxy her bf's) morality.
@@Ellyc2929girl what does legality have to do with anything? Quality of character is not determined by law. He even admitted to his grooming behaviors. Also this blew up after she started promoting for the album. It's not a reason for it. Why would you choose to associate with that person and then block victims trying to let you know about him? But grooming is technically legal so I guess it doesn't matter.
I honestly preferred pop princess Doja Cat. And what annoys me is that she chose to go against her authentic self to make hits thus becoming a sellout; so for her to blame those who consume her music for her unhappiness really rubbed me the wrong way. I was never a hardcore fan but I did really like her first three albums. Now it is difficult for me to listen to those cause they're just tainted. I honestly wish I never knew of this controversy cause it did ruin the music for me. She just seems like she became a bitter and lost person but she only has herself and her label to blame.
i honestly didn't care about the "demon/satanic era", nor cared about unflattering pics or whatever, and i liked most songs from her old and new stuff i've heard. the only thing that turned me away was the weird comments to fans. acting like it's weird they dared to care about her, like her things, or that they're dumb/blaming them for "falling for it"... (not mentioning that no one in the public could know her beyond what she shows anyway)
dude. She literally said that she was done with doing average pop music. I think her new albums are more original, and she seems to enjoy it more. If you don't like it, ok, but don't say "sHes nOt bEing AuthEntIc". That's your view
@@Vent_221 OP didn't say the new stuff is inauthentic, they said Doja was a sellout for representing herself inauthentically with the pink/ pop princess image for the sake of sales, and that it's not fair for her to blame fans for her unhappiness with that image because her fans didn't force her to take on that image
@@Vent_221 LMAO triggered much? She wasn't authentic and she even admitted it. Her new music is just as mediocre as her old music, the difference is she has a more masculine vibe now where before she was feminine. And the reason for that aesthetic change is cause women in hiphop are criticized for being too feminine. It a cycle that keeps on happening with women in that genre. Gosh you Stans really are insufferable. No wonder Doja doesn't like you guys/
well, her angry comments seemed off at first but given the context I don't think it's okay for strangers to claim that she needs help and tell her to use psychological assistance. this is very rude and toxic. people don't have the right to say things like that about anyone. and even if she did need help, saying this to mock the person for not being ok is even more insane
I love doja cats music and I love who she is now, you can tell she’s being authentically herself and that she isn’t being held down anymore by expectations
I was afraid this was a hate video. I am so happy I decided to click! I am so appreciative that you had no bias and only worked with evidence and your knowledge of marketing! 😊❤️
although she dropped out of school my sister used to tell me grades dont show how smart you are and that shit is true cause doja is so freaking smart thinking she should not work with dr luke doing this all by herself making weird music to drop people who hate her and keep people who love her for who she is that is smart
People who think her demonic aesthetics are innovative and brave have never listened to any metal in their lives. Everything starts with Black Sabbath releasing their first song Black Sabbath in 1970 and from there, it's the bare minimum for most metal genres, especially Black Metal.
Well, 1. This isn't metal it's pop/rap, which isn't used to those aesthetics, and 2. Doja finds a way to be creative with her aesthetics, so the majority of her new looks are innovative, especially in the mainstream media she's in.
I started to like her when she rebranded. Peoples reaction with not getting the rage baiting and making conspiracies proves her point that some fans were dumb fr
@@charlie8487 that's exactly why i went straight to the comments. had a gut feeling that the weird ass choices she's made over the years weren't going to be commented on (especially not the dude she was dating + the natzee on her shirt thing)
if you're new here- HIIII welcome!! 💜We're doing deep dives every Thursday where as your marketing bestie- I will be analyzing the branding case studies of the pop culture influences in our lives. Tune in and feel free to send requests via comments! Episodes also avalailable on spotify and apple apple.co/zoeunlimited open.spotify.com/show/0ZReedpR6Bf1kvHeKBuWY1
She made viral songs and I think when some those teens grow up that loved her pop influence and lean into her edgy way and look she will have a fan base no matter what she does. So far she hasn’t actually done anything I’d say anyone didn’t see coming. She’s also showing the duality of a woman. Women aren’t just pink pretty products. Also her fan base currently is still growing everyday. Her music is good and that’s that.
All types of creative experiments are acceptable to me. But I do not accept mockery and insults from the artist towards me. It's not smart or funny. I just stopped listening to her. I don't need her to love her fans, just simple respect is enough.
I think she was mainly addressing the fans she doesn’t want to have and I believe from reading your comment that that wasn’t you. I think you took something personal that wasn’t aimed at you.
She's relatively popular. I like her songs, but honestly her videos for them largely lack pizzazz, and her live shows are downright boring. She's all by herself on stage, singing sometimes impressively and sometimes shakily (I'd be nervous too up there all by myself), and just standing awkwardly during musical interludes. It defies logic. She needs better management. Also, her look is a bit too sanitized/plasticized insta model. Most successful musicians are more actress-type pretty, in that they don't look like absolutely perfect cartoon characters, so they're more recognizable. Idk if she could possibly get her nose job revised to look more like her original nose, but that would help a bit. Plus go a little lighter on the fillers etc.
People need to stop being simps for people they don’t know especially celebrities lol I just think it’s so funny because Doja Cat has been in the industry 10+ years she was an underground rapper and she’s always been a troll lol I think a lot of her new fans like after “say so”don’t really understand that lol that whole princess persona was never really her and fell for the gimmick. She’s always been really funny. She always likes to push peoples buttons lol just sounds like some of her fans aren’t fans lol
I also think it’s funny because she’s a hot girl that people are doing whole dissertations on her demon era lol if Doja Cat wasn’t as pretty, I think her career would have ended a long time ago the way, some of you people talk about her lol
@@Sailorcuti3Lol the fact you think we live in a fantasy world is hilarious cause beauty sells regardless if we like it or not. You can be the most talented person but if you aren’t marketable via your looks then your not going places unless by some divine intervention occurs. Our society places importance on looks over talent so for you to say she wouldn’t be where she is today without her looks is not off but your also admitting simply being talented won’t get you anywhere cause beauty and sex sells. But I bet you knew this silly, lol
……. OK I believe I just said if she wasn’t pretty, nobody would care. We’re both saying the same thing so what’s your argument? Lol if you thought you were trying to say something, you just wasted a lot of words for something I already said lol
shes talented but i unfollowed her and muted her on Spotify after her true nature came out. id rather support hundreds of other artists who don't pick fights their fans rather than her tbh.
I loved this so much!!! You GET it. This video gave so much insight and completely had me nodding my head the entire vid (as a current marketing student) Thank you Zoe! Great Video
I kind of want to hear your take on Logan Paul. He went from popular (annoyingly), to canceled after the Japan incident, to redeemed in recent years (his podcast, Mr. Beast, his product), to possibly canceled again (also Mr. Beast). I don’t like him, but his possibly burning career intrigues me.
I think people are taking this too hard… Doja Cat is weird and probably always WILL be weird, but to be THAT mean to fans who CARE about her and literally just say that they “love her” is wilddddd. 😭 fans DID give her the platform in the first place, she SHOULD just be a normal human and give decent respect back, it’s rlly not asking for much :( and her getting all covered in REAL blood was just TOO MUCH and LOWKEY disrespectful and triggering ☠️
as one of the few people that started listening to her music after the currently rebranding is so interesting to see her evolution because I was never interested in her pink pop princess version
have to clarify that I got interested in he music not her persona or less what she decides to post in her socials, she looks a bit unhinged for sure I dont care if she wants to become a demon in her free time jjjj
I don't think her visual branding has ever not been conventionally attractive, even her rebrand is "pretty". Her hair is done, her makeup is done, her face and body are emphasized in all of the traditionally attractive ways, it's just a demon edit of pretty rather than a traditionally feminine edit of pretty. It's literally a Jojo Siwa transformation: same thing, but this time in black. And her new "demon era" music sounds... just like her previous 2 albums. It's still pop, it still has her sound. Personally, I just can't get behind people who are rude to the people who put money in their pockets and support them, it's not about boundaries, it's a lack of kindness and humanity. There is a difference between having clear boundaries about people stalking you or publicizing private information about you/ your family, or not taking vile comments about your looks personally, and just being a mean, arrogant, and entitled person (and being cool with white supremacists). I always look at people like Robin Williams or Conan and the way that they treat fans. That's a legacy worth leaving. Being a fan of someone and supporting them isn't weird, it's humans doing what they have always done: connecting.
Zoe, your new series of commenting celebrities' branding are very well-made! They are inspiring and thoughtful for me, thank you for the effort you put.
Uuugh I hate the whole believing artists are literal demons when they dress up in devil costumes! It'd be equally stupid to believe artists wearing angel costumes are literal divine angelic beings 🤦♀️🤦♀️😮💨
My initial thought was that she’s trying to tell us sth, we don’t know what’s happened to her behind the scene with that record label and whatever she say in this video is tough truth and make sense. If we’re that wise, we’ll not be scrolling and listening to her music. It also helps weed out kids/teens from her explicit songs as well. She’s try to warn us genuinely which fits the character’s script in the song, plus she doesn’t own anyone or anything. She’s just there, doing her music, looking pretty; and people flock over her willingly In my opinion, it’s a total success, and even if she’s forgotten or cancelled, her work will be noted in the music history cs no one is dare enough to make the song directly & publicly demon related and pops off on the billboard like this in the US music, where the world majority is based on christianity. It’s brave, it’s fresh and new. It doesn’t matter that people listen to her song or not; she’ll be somehow on the many media in every country across the whole world cs who doesn’t love hot issues? Even zoe is talking about her🤷♀️ Whether people listen to her music or not; her face will appear everywhere in every countries; what more could you ask for? Imagine hiring or outsourcing every media & top influencers from all over the world to talk about(aka promote) her, how much money will cost for it to publish her face and promote music this much and within this speed? And to live rent-free in billions of people’s mind real estate even just for 30s, times billions, how much life span is that and how much will it cost to manually make it happen through that above? Gazillions dollars baby, her company just won free gazillion dollars marketing campaign just by making some scripts and art props ( as well as make up, etc.) about the most controversial things ever aka devil; which the artist herself doesn’t necessarily have to be tied to demonology or even actually worship one It’s just borrowing visuals with no deep meaning🤷♀️ It’s different story to the influence of her lyrics and songs to younger generations; this is only business point of view That’s very brave and I admired the marketing team so much; in other companies, with these absurd ideas, they’ll likely be fired for it. The decision maker is also with great visions, business-wise, not necessarily morally :) Who knows? In the future, there might be these kind of songs doing well cs people are more diverse and the world is different? Just like how we didn’t have airplane before in the past.
I've never been one that takes everything at face value and never thought she was a satanist or promoting something negative for the sake of it when the Scarlet era began. I loved Doja's pop princess era but I understand she's moved on. Even if she stayed there people would wage hell at her for "not innovating" thus reinforcing the "you can't never keep them happy". She's clearly talented and it shows in the product whether visual or audio.
I followed her since her tumblr days when she was making music in her make shift set up in her house and uploaded it on SoundCloud, and saw her live before her strange era lol
Ive never even listened to her music but im on her side. Shes a little rough, ya, but that seems to be her style and it really doesn't bother me. Shes right, parasocial relationships can be a nightmare! My roommate is a huge kpop fan and I've seen some insane shit kpop fans get into. Setting those boundaries are necessary. You can like someones work without getting into their private lives.
Maybe more people in the public eye aught to draw clear lines with that public like this. With how personal influencers feel compared to dying Hollywood I think those boundaries need to be clearly established. I wasn’t a fan but she seems real af and I’m gonna go binge her music now
What I’m hearing from people is that “if you’re not perfect then you have lost your mind” which is absolutely bull shit doja cat isn’t an artist for you and other people she’s an artist because that is what she wanted to do it’s what she loves she’s not living for other people she’s living for herself. Doja cat is an icon.
Do you think Doja Cat ruined her brand or is she a genius marketer?🫣

Sort of what happenes when you’re acting like a xenophobic idiot. She can be glad they didn’t get racist, because latinos do not play about being racist when presented the chance.
Wait, she was in Paraguay??? Literally near my city, oh gosh. ;-;
To add context Asunción was experiencing terrible floods and fans STILL showed up to support her, after which she still (allegedly) behaved ungratefully thus the hate from Paraguay fans

Edit: I think she's gonna keep being successful and could become a pop culture icon as long as her artistic output is high quality. I think her change in direction will benefit her in the long term. With that said I think she needs to play her cards well and not be too chaotic. Authenticity is great but without relatability the mainstream won't connect with her brand. She can be avant garde, rebellious and provocative without the hostility and defensiveness.

it does affect you mentally when you feel more beautiful or are more confident. i expierenced it when my acne isn't as horrible as when i was a teen, we humans are in some part that simple. that's why often people do say go shower even if you depressed because it makes you feel cleaner and better. sure it does not solve all your problems but it's a first little step, it does help.

she clearly stated in an interview that she doesn't want to be idolized. she doesn't care what people think abt her, and when u don't care abt what people think about you, you do whatever the fuck you want, u get so much free will. if she bothered abt her career she wouldn't have taken a step like that and stayed in her brand cuz it made more money and attracted people. she doesn't want people to look at her outer persona or whatever. she makes music, sells them and you buy it if you want. if you like that music, u listen to that music. shes not an idol, shes an artist making art. she isn't cussing at her "fans" shes cussing at the people who are fucking creepy asf. i mean don't u literally have a job instead of fucking idk idolizing someone and praising them? fan culture is insane. you like it, u listen to it, that's it.

So you can say she’s simply being herself and not playing a role.

You sound sped but ok
Preach!

I honestly preferred pop princess Doja Cat. Hi Zoe, please could you do a video on why Madison Beer hasn't had her breakthrough. Thanks
I don't care what she does or says, I still love this woman!!!!!
Edit: OMG ZOE LIKED MY COMMENT!!!!!!
as one of the few people that started listening to her music after the currently rebranding is so interesting to see her evolution because I was never interested in her pink pop princess version
have to clarify that I got interested in he music not her persona or less what she decides to post in her socials, she looks a bit unhinged for sure I dont care if she wants to become a demon in her free time jjjj
You got me into. Marketing Zoe. I love you ❤
I don't think her visual branding has ever not been conventionally attractive, even her rebrand is "pretty".
She’s just there, doing her music, looking pretty; and people flock over her willingly
In my opinion, it’s a total success, and even if she’s forgotten or cancelled, her work will be noted in the music history cs no one is dare enough to make the song directly & publicly demon related and pops off on the billboard like this in the US music, where the world majority is based on christianity.
It’s brave, it’s fresh and new. It doesn’t matter that people listen to her song or not; she’ll be somehow on the many media in every country across the whole world cs who doesn’t love hot issues? Even zoe is talking about her🤷♀️
Whether people listen to her music or not; her face will appear everywhere in every countries; what more could you ask for?
Imagine hiring or outsourcing every media & top influencers from all over the world to talk about(aka promote) her,
how much money will cost for it to publish her face and promote music this much and within this speed?
And to live rent-free in billions of people’s mind real estate even just for 30s, times billions, how much life span is that and how much will it cost to manually make it happen through that above?
Gazillions dollars baby, her company just won free gazillion dollars marketing campaign just by making some scripts and art props ( as well as make up, etc.) about the most controversial things ever aka devil; which the artist herself doesn’t necessarily have to be tied to demonology or even actually worship one
It’s just borrowing visuals with no deep meaning🤷♀️
It’s different story to the influence of her lyrics and songs to younger generations; this is only business point of view
That’s very brave and I admired the marketing team so much; in other companies, with these absurd ideas, they’ll likely be fired for it. The decision maker is also with great visions, business-wise, not necessarily morally :)
Who knows? In the future, there might be these kind of songs doing well cs people are more diverse and the world is different?
Just like how we didn’t have airplane before in the past.
I started liking her so much more when she went for her raw, unfiltered self ❤️
have you ever considered making a video on how to rebrand yourself? like “oneself”? and the significance of “your brand” in your day to day life?
I just love Doja, cause she’s not afraid to be unapologetically herself 🤍
I love whatever she does, as long as she is happy
i love her tbh. she's an artist with actual talent. very rare nowadays
Exactly but date to say she’s going back to her roots in her next album just more toned down.
So happy I found your channel 👏🏽
Zoe!!! Do Tate McRae next PLEASE. She used to upload such cute songs and now she’s huge in Pop Culture!
So glad I found your channel. Great work all the time.
INCREDIBLE!
Please do a video on Dua Lipa ❤
I followed her since her tumblr days when she was making music in her make shift set up in her house and uploaded it on SoundCloud, and saw her live before her strange era lol
She POSTED😁😆🤩
Your analysis are out of this world. How do you even pull this up? Kisses from Brazil.
She does whatever tf she wants and I love that for her.
Loving this series and thanks for another great video!! I was particularly excited for this one!
Underrated. You lit af girl 🔥
Being “subversive” is so played out. It ain’t subverting anything at this point.
I do have to laugh at people who spend more time and emotional energy in a day thinking about someone who makes music than anything else.
Love watching your videos while making bracelets ❤ they’re always interesting and cool ✨
That’s so cool! ✨
I'm doing the same thing! I'm making friendship bracelets for some birthdays coming up and these videos are perfect to play in the background 🌟
Zoe I literally love your videos ty for never missing a post
Appreciate youu🥹✨
Maybe more people in the public eye aught to draw clear lines with that public like this. With how personal influencers feel compared to dying Hollywood I think those boundaries need to be clearly established. I wasn’t a fan but she seems real af and I’m gonna go binge her music now
What I’m hearing from people is that “if you’re not perfect then you have lost your mind” which is absolutely bull shit doja cat isn’t an artist for you and other people she’s an artist because that is what she wanted to do it’s what she loves she’s not living for other people she’s living for herself. Doja cat is an icon.
I love that I literally asked for a Doja Cat Video a couple weeks ago and now there it is 🥰🥰
Lovee your videos❤❤
💕💕
I love your videos, omg the intros always get my amped uppppppppp!
