And I will say, when I actually sat for FAR, I felt like I made it worse in my head than what it actually was. At the end of the day, you just need to prepare for it like the others you already passed. Good Luck!!

      Thanks so much! Good for you, our industry is in need of more CPAs. We are struggling to find new talent. I think the U.S. pays more to CPAs than some other countries too. That's interesting to hear. In MA you can sit for the exam with a bachelors and get the education later or at the same time.

    • @BrittanyJanaeCPA
      @BrittanyJanaeCPA  Місяць тому +2

      You can do the same in VA, you just have to certain courses before you sit and the courses I took in undergrad didn’t satisfy the requirements. I was so mad lol because I wanted to sit my first semester of grad school, but I had to wait.

      That makes sense. They also don't have a lot of work experience which can sometimes counter what we learned in school. I know when I first started in public accounting it was so different than school. You are also used to studying if you do it right after graduating.

    Thanks for sharing your CPA journey. Can you please elaborate on how you studied for last 2-3 days, how did you cram up the entire syllabus specially for REG and FAR.

    • @BrittanyJanaeCPA
      @BrittanyJanaeCPA  26 днів тому +1

      This is a great question! I might do a part 2 to include this. The last 2-3 days I would take practice exams over and over on various topics, focusing mainly on topics that I was struggling on, until I consistently got over 85s or 90s I believe. I used Wiley, you could "create" exams to practice on based on the MCQ library. I would also use Ninja CPA Review for additional MCQs to practice. I also reviewed all my notes, flash cards, and highlighted materials. Before my exam I would sit in the car and skim through my notes too lol. I treated all the exams the same from a studying process stand point. I didn't do anything different for FAR or REG. I hope that helps! Good Luck studying :)

    Hi, If you couldn’t grasp a chapter or concept did you study it until you learned it or did you move on?

    • @BrittanyJanaeCPA
      @BrittanyJanaeCPA  2 місяці тому +2

      Hey! It would really depend on how big the topic was. If I wasn't grasping big topics, I wouldn't move on until I understood it. I would keep studying and taking the practice exams until it was obvious I understood the material. If it was a smaller topic in the grand scheme of things I would just move on. The study software you use should make it clear which topics might be more important than others based on what they focus on. You should also be able to find blueprints of each section on the AICPA webite.

    • @BrittanyJanaeCPA

      @mehtabhussain9117 my advice would be to analyze your study plan and make some changes. I'm assuming that will make a big difference. Figure out how you retain information best then adjust your study techniques/plan to make them work better for you. I just started coaching CPA candidates who are on their exam journey. This is one of the 1st things we work on. If you need more help, go to the link in my bio and reach out. Good Luck on your journey!

    Do you think a master is needed before taking the CPA exam? I still need 9 credits before I can sit but took a year off after undergrad. I’m definitely more motivated now than ever to study and put in the hours, but wasn’t the best at financial accounting part 2 in college. Please let Mel know what you think!

    • @BrittanyJanaeCPA
      @BrittanyJanaeCPA  Місяць тому +1

      @@anthonyllerena7230 No, I don’t think it is needed at all. I think it is nice to have if you want to pad your resume and can help as far as increasing your knowledge for the exam. However it honestly doesn’t really matter in the real world. You gain all your real life knowledge through experience. It might decrease the amount of time studying for the exam, but not by alot. I hope that helps. Good luck on studying!!

    This video was helpful! Just curious how many months you studied for each exam and just to clarify, you only read the book and did the MCQ's for each exam?

    • @BrittanyJanaeCPA
      @BrittanyJanaeCPA  2 місяці тому +1

      I’m glad it was helpful! I would say I studied between 1-1.5 months per section. I would study about 15-20 hours per week. And yes, for the most part I would just read the study material and take the exams then focus on what I didn’t understand. I would look for other avenues to study for topics I was having a hard time grasping like watching UA-cam videos. I also had a subscription to Ninja Warrior for a little extra practice. Wiley also provided a flash card book that I ready through occasionally.

    Thank you for the video. I am working very hard to pass these exam but am failing by a little margins. . I have doing accounting for the last 5 years. I am good at doing case studies, but MCQ’s are just not my thing. Any tips to score good points in MCQ’s?

    • @BrittanyJanaeCPA
      @BrittanyJanaeCPA  26 днів тому

      @AKRB10 Thank you for watching! Honestly, I would say the best way to get better at MCQ's is just to keep doing them. If you need extra MCQ's to practice, you can try Ninja CPA Review. They have a monthly subscription you can cancel anytime. I used them for a couple months when I would be close to sitting for an exam and it provides more exposure than just your current provider. I would also focus on why you are getting the questions wrong. When it gives you the reason, make sure you study that too. This helped me tremendously. Make sure you hyper focus on the material that you are struggling with if it is a large portion of the exam. Maybe even watch some UA-cam videos on how to get better at answering multiple choice questions.
      I hope that helped. Don't give up, you will get there :). Good luck on your exam journey!
