    Rudakubana controlled the court! He didn’t even bother to attend sentencing and witness impact reports, and the Judge let him!!! He should have been in the dock, in a straight jacket and muzzled and made to listen…. Our courts are pathetic!

    • @BobSmith-s7j
      @BobSmith-s7j 9 днів тому +1

      The grounds are that you don't suddenly develop a sense of right and wrong on your 18th birthday, so the law provides for a sentencing regime for minors. What it does not provide for is whole life orders (i.e. no chance of parole ever) for criminals who were under 18 at the time of their crimes. The judge did not have the power to give him life without parole and had to set a minimum term for his life sentence.

      It would appear to be all GENOCIDES in history. Points raised in the article suggest (to me), he may have had an unhealthy obsession with ALL forms of extremism too.(have posted an exerpt from the article, you can however read the full article on their site)
      Taken from an article in The Guardian-Mon 20 Jan 2025 11.46 GMT
      It can now be revealed that Rudakubana, 18, did briefly come to the attention of counter-terrorism officials but was assessed as not posing a risk of supporting terrorism or carrying out acts of violence in support of any cause.
      Yet the Guardian has learned that the Cardiff-born teenager, whose Rwandan parents moved to Britain in 2002, had developed a deep and dark interest in extreme violence, spending hours researching genocide and watching graphic videos of murder.
      “He was absolutely obsessed with genocides,” said one senior official. “He could name every genocide in history and how many people were killed - Rwanda, Genghis Khan, Hitler. It’s all he wanted to talk about.”

      However, he said that police were unable to find any evidence of a clear ideology and as such, were advised that they would be unable to declare it a terrorist incident.
      It is understood that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it would be unable to prosecute the attack as terrorism without a clear ideology.

      @@joesegretto6689 OK, interesting info, but it has no bearing on whether this guy would get the death penalty in certain American states. Someone sentenced for a crime committed while they were under 18 cannot be executed in the US since the USSC ruled on this in 2005, whether or not they are being "tried as an adult". The last one was Scott Hain in 2003.
