2013 F150 Low Oil Pressure Fixed!

- I changed the oil pan gasket, oil pressure sensor (Motocraft), and added Motocraft 5/20 oil and a Motocraft filter. Then it took me about 30 minutes of driving before the Oil Pressure Light and Gauge finally stopped dropping and beeping at me.
The solution was to replace the Oil Pressure Sensor and allow the Computer to Relearn the Idle. When the idle dropped below 500 ish, it set off the Low Oil Pressure Alarm every time.
So before you invest even more time and money, perform these steps to relearn idle faster:
1. Let the car idle for 15 minutes.
2. Turn on the ac full blast for another 5 minutes.
3. Shift to drive with your foot on the brake for a few minutes.
4. Shift to reverse with your foot on the brake for a few minutes.
5. Drive it around the block normally.
6. Drive in reverse a few times.
7. Finally, take it on the freeway.
You are basically trying to put the car through as many driving conditions as possible so the computer can adjust the idle properly with as much data and precision as possible instead of driving it around for weeks or even months to do so.
Hope this helps! Please leave a comment so others will know and maybe have more suggestions.
I experienced these same problems on my 2014 F150 with the 5.0 Coyote V8. Changing the sensor and the drive cycle dodn't stop the low oil pressure warning. I found that the electrical pigtail that plugs into the oil pressure sensor had worn insulation on the 2 wires (heat or rubbing?), and when the motor was hot it would short out. Replacing the pigtail ultimately fixed mine.
This is crazy. I’m going to give it a try. Several videos out there but this seems very logical. Thanks.
Glad you got it working!!
Did your relearn and an hour mixed travel. Apparently good to go. Thanks, good info.
Yes, took me about an hour. I drove to work on streets and the freeway. Then it was good to go. Is yours?
Yes. I also put in the Motorcraft 5/20 and correct filter. Was using an XL filter and tried 10/40 which made issue worse. An awful job replacing sensor, 70 year old contorting body with truck on ramps but removing alternator made the sensor part easy. After about half hour learn in driveway, hour driving city lights then highway truck is fine. Never got light and seems to be running much smoother.
Good job! Driving it around for a while solves it after. Many of the UA-cam videos and even I would have kept tackling and replacing more stuff on it if I didn't decide to drive it to work the next day.
I have the same problem, I have replaced the oil presure swich 5 times it goes away for about 3 months but always comes back !
It only does it when the RPM drops below 500 rpms. I have also tried all the other fixes for the problem but always comes back !
Have you disconnected the battery each time to let computer idle reset?
Soo it was the censor?
Yes, and possibly the oil pan leak causing a little pressure loss. So relieved! Been driving it everyday since and no more oil lights! I just had to drive it around for a while longer after replacing the sensor until the idle reset back to normal.
How many miles and is it a Ecoboost
I have the same problem with my Ford F-150 3.5
