It's remarkable how they maintain a perfect record of never taking anything seriously - truly, an unwavering commitment to nonchalance every second of the day
I was 9 in 1995. This teenage girl I knew from church had this album in CD. I loved it but didn’t have a CD player so she recorded it into cassette tape for me!
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL! I was 24 back in 1995, and now in 2022! I'm 50, about to turn 51 in April of 2022. And it just seems so befitting! The 90's, along with the 80's, were a Great Time for music! In my opinion, and that's all I have to say about that. In my Forrest Gump voice. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man, these guys are the shit, for real. They still sound great. Think about the type of stuff being played in the 90’s and then think about these guys. They stick out like a sore thumb. It is refreshing and unique. I’ll always love these guys.
The little intro was to get Chris in key. On the record if you listen carefully you’ll hear the guitars bleeding through his headphone during the intro…I wonder if they muted it in the studio and thought that’s great or if it was just a guide track…either way…these are things modern record production has eroded…
They kind of play a hybrid of both (“bassitar” and “guitbass”) but they’re not conventionally strung. There’re only like 5 strings between the two of them.
It confused the hell out of me back in the day. The bassist is playing what looks like a guitar (it is a guitar) but with two bass strings. The guitarist is playing what looks* like a bass (it's not) with three guitar strings. So yep, two guitars. At least I think that's all right. I'm still confused. * To me anyway. Some of Dave Dederer's guitars I think had pegs removed (I'm guessing to reduce rattle) so I saw the headstock and thought it was a bass.
@@spiderbabybill I'll explain. Chris (singer, bald) plays a Guitar that was re-strung as a Bass, and is used as a Bass. That is his "Basitar." 2 strings, tuned to Drop C#. Dave (playing the blue Stratocaster) plays a Guitar that's tuned a bit lower; Drop C#, which is a note below Drop D tuning. His guitar only has what would be the bottom 3 strings normally, but they're not in the same string slots as they normally would be. This is his "Guitbass." OK, now for a bit of a confusing detail: although Dave's guitar is in Drop C#, Chris' Bass is actually in the same octave. He just used it as a bass, with the tone knob rolled down. I have some vague notion that they wanted to make things sound a bit more intertwined that way. Whatever the case, their unconventional instruments worked.
We'd probably be better off if these were in fact "The Presidents of The United States of America". Then, i might be able to get this lump out if my head so i can eat free peaches again. I'm gonna eat a million of them for sure.
For those who still say that the PUSA altered the ending of this song in reference to Weird Al's parody, no, it's other way round. Look at the date of this performance, it's roughly a year before Al brought out his version. And Al himself has said that Chris Ballew told him to include the line "And that's all I need to say about that." since they were already ending the song with that line.
The perfect antidote to prog rock, or sog rock as I will now call it. A friend sent me this - ua-cam.com/video/ZUplgIbGaWY/v-deo.html - what a load of shit. So I went looking for something that is fun and doesn't take itself too seriously as an antidote - this is perfect! :-)

3 guys, 1 set of drums and 5 strings in total… enough to make you Rock.
barely a drumset, 1/2 kit.
Half the strings, twice the rock!
I'm in.

That "and that's all I have to say about that" at the end was a reference to the Weird Al parody, Gump
Nope, this was filmed before that Parody came out. In fact on Weird Al's website, he mentioned that Chris Ballew asked to include that line.

It's a great homage to Weird Al every time they do it!
@@missellendiane get the hell out of here

Weird al uploaded a cover of peaches a few days ago with Chris coming out and they just start dancing like crazy together lmao
