David was phenomenal. I also have to point out that Stephen Stills was nearly deaf from a hereditary issue while doing these harmonies and still sounds amazing. These three when singing together were a gift to humanity.
David had a long hard struggle with drugs over the years. Thankfully he had Graham Nash to help him through the roughest times even though they had their own bumpy times. RIP . One of the greatest harmony singers of all time.
that harmony is what made them famous legends. They appeared at Woodstock which was only their second live performance together. They knocked it out of the park.
Makes me very sad!! Another wonderful musician gone !! David Crosby left so much great music for us to enjoy and I do !!! I have always loved CSN and CSN&Y !! RIP Mr Crosby 😢😢!!
David Crosby once reflected on not dying around the same time as Janis and Jim. He lived a full life and left us with great music. if we all make it to 81 we will be so lucky. peace be with him .
Crosby's death has hit me. I've known their music nearly all my life. They taught me about the war, about the struggles with civil rights riots on the street. They helped me to feel when MLK was murdered, and then RFK. I wonder if that generation of artists fully comprehend the impact they had on us young'uns. There is a documentary on Amazon about Laurel Canyon which is just off Hollywood blvd in Hollywood. In the 60's it was close to the bars that all those greats would play trying to get noticed. It was cheap to live in Laurel Canyon and that is where the musicians would live. The documentary goes through who lived there, why it was so important. Crosby sold pot to everyone to get by, and he was known to have the best. They all had open doors, anyone could stop by, play some songs and get better. The bands that lived there were the biggest just before they made it. Like CSNY, the doors the eagles Joni Mitchell, Little Feat, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Brown (He was only 17 when he got there and had already written "Take it Easy") If you want to see how it got started watch this video, it's fantastic, "Laurel Canyon."
Always been such a beautiful song. And who can’t relate to some of these lyrics relating it to our own lives- “so much time wasted on the way”, for so many dumb reasons. Peace ☮️
We feel the loss of a mentor, a musician, and an entertainer. We remember the lessons learned while listing to him ply his trade. There is something of his teachings in me. There are more in the millions of lives that he touched. We grieve for the loss of a great man, but truly he is not gone. His music will continue to touch and shape the lives of millions yet to be born. Smile when Harri hears a new "old" song featuring the likes of David Crosby for the first time. Watch his face as he experiences what we have known for decades ... David Crosby still exist and is still plying his trade. The man has died, but the mentor, musician, and entertainer goes on as long as we remember him. Teach your children well. Your revels now have ended. Daylight again. Like those brave soldiers, you cannot get older. Mother Earth will swallow you, lay your body down. RIP Maestro!
I totally agree with you about the studio version Harri. The studio version is more polished but this live version with two guitars and three voices in near perfect harmonies, No Auto tune, is a great example of their pure singing talents. Graham Nash wrote this but it fits them all perfectly. I believe one of the most beautiful songs ever written is Stephen Stills "Helplessly Hoping". There are many, many songs by CSN and CSNY that are on the playlist of my life. A great loss. David was a beautiful man who had his "warts and demons" like all of us do, thankfully his music will always be around to remind us of his greatness. 😪👍💟🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧🤴
My husband thinks Crosby, Stills, & Nash should have gotten the Medal of Freedom, because he believes their music did a lot to get us out of Vietnam. Unfortunately, the three of them, as well as sometime bandmate Neil Young, were on the outs quite a lot. I don't think David and Graham were speaking when David died. Loose ends...
This song is like a soothing salve for the soul. It lifts me up, and my spirits soar. It IS a sad song, but it's a beautiful reminder to be present in the moment. ❤❤❤
Anyone who loves harmonies has to love these guys. They make it look so easy but it is not so. That’s why they’re giants among their peers. RIP David Crosby. 😇🌺💐🌻
I saw these three guys about 20 years ago….acoustic only. Fabulous experience. I got to see loads of great performers (including The Beatles) but some stand out….like these talented guys. I so miss their messages of peace. Rest my dear Mr. Crosby.
Never really properly heard this one myself. Today it's ringing so true; that probably says as much about me as anything else, but I'm glad I scrolled down my playlist and picked this one out to listen to next. Thanks, Harri, as always, and Rest In Peace, David Crosby.
Harri, I highly recommend checking out some of David Crosby's solo work, there's an album that has Jerry Garcia, Grace Slick, Joni Mitchell , as guest artists harmonizing with him- it's utterly sublime. It's called, "If Only I Could Remember My Name" . "Song With No Words", or "Music is Love" will blow your mind...💜💜💜 RIP, David Crosby ~
Absolutely. Was listening to that album today. Impeccable. But disappointed to see that since Neil Young chose to yank his catalog from Spotify, even the songs he wrote for David on If I Could Only Remember My Name are no longer available. That would be Music Is Love and What Are Their Names. But for me Laughing is my lasting memory of David.
I am so sad about David All 3 giants of sensitivity .. Remembering buying their first album on vinyl in 1969 and playing on my back porch with friends the whole afternoon listening over and over. Tears just come…..
His loss is devastating to vocalist, musicians, songwriters and artists alike. Not to mention his countless fans and everyone who listened to his music and decided to pick up a guitar or piano and write some sh*t. There is a lesson in his music. I think that maybe I'm dreaming.
This song was released in 1982 from their "Daylight Again" album. On the original release Timothy B. Schmitt sings background vocals. Beautiful blend of perfect harmonies transcending you into peace of mind and soul. Perhaps written regarding the riffs and disputes over the years that plagued the band. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Daniel. RIP David. 💔💔 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks for that detail about TBS I love his voice with Eagles and it makes perfect sense that his beautiful high tones would slide right into place with these guys. 😄
I believe he was in the Byrds. Stephen Stills and Neil Young were in Buffalo Springfield. Graham Nash was in the Hollies. A Great loss. Thanks for the comment. 🙃👍
CS&N were one of the folk rock supergroups of the 60's-70's. I had a few of their albums. Loved their harmonies. They have so many great songs such as "Marrakesh Express", "Helplessly Hoping", "Wooden Ships", "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes", "Southern Cross" etc.
David had a magical voice that when blended with others created perfect harmonies. An underrated gift. The CSN reunion album from 1977 was magnificent. " Just a Song Before I Go " is a must hear. You should seek it out.
I could listen to the song all day long too!! RIP David Crosby. Wasn't this a great performance! This was on the same early 80's album as "Southern Cross." Timothy B. Schmit (Eagles) added more harmony vocals on the studio track. CSN (and Y) and their inspiring music were always very important to me.
GRERAT GREAT SONG HARRI AND ONE OF THE VERYYYYY 1ST SONGS THAT THEY DID, THEY CAN'T RECALL IF IT WAS AT JONI'S HOUSE OR CASS ELLIOTTS HOUSE BUT ANYWAYYYY THEY DID ABOUT 10 TIMES AND REALIZED THEY HAD A HUGE HIT! 😊 R.I.P 🙃 TO DAVID, CERTAINLYYYY A ROCK LEGEND! 😊
Is anyone going to react to something that David Crosby actually wrote? songs like Long Time Gone, In My Dreams, Delta, Almost Cut My Hair, The Lee Shore, Guinevere... it's sad
I’ve listened to the two origin stories for the Byrds and CSN, and they both appear to have David Crosby as their instigating factor, which is natural for him. The Byrds had something between McGuinn and Clark, but it was David who was the missing sound. And of course there wasn’t going to be an “SN” though Graham and David may have yet ended up together. But it was his voice and songs that were again the linchpin of the formation of the band. I’ve always like Croz but after his death I’ve come to realize how central he is in the foundations of American rock music.
Talk about splits, reunions, split again, reunion again! No other band did it like CSN! Not even Fleetwood mac! CSN's first album came out in 1969, their second album with Neil Young came out in 1970 and later that year they broke up for the first time! It is sad towards the end of David's life he was not on speaking terms with any of his band mates. Sad.
Perfect choice. He left all that great music. 81 is a good run for someone who did so many drugs. Not judging, a boomer whose 1st album was 4 Way Street.
OMG Harri, I just recommended this particular version on your "Our House" reaction. LOL IF you ever want to explore some of Stephen Stills' acoustic guitar work (which in my book is one of a kind & magnificent), from the same concert.... I might suggest "Tree Top Flyer" and Crossroads. ua-cam.com/video/M1ZSfabk6K8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/L161XjTFQlo/v-deo.html Thank you again ! Sylvia
Three guys with two guitars over produced? Lunacy. Seems like a rather simple song with a heartfelt message. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.
In my eyes and ears they will always be the Trinity of Harmony..RIP David.😪👍
That makes the Eagles the Pentagonality of Harmony lol. Seven Bridges Road is what I'm referring to btw.
David was phenomenal. I also have to point out that Stephen Stills was nearly deaf from a hereditary issue while doing these harmonies and still sounds amazing. These three when singing together were a gift to humanity.

There will never be another David Crosby. Crosby, Stills, Nash, (and Young) some of the most beautiful harmonies ever! ❤🎶RIP DAVID CROSBY
that harmony is what made them famous legends. They appeared at Woodstock which was only their second live performance together. They knocked it out of the park.
Too sad. We are losing too many now. It's to be expected but still hurts. RIP David. 🙏
Song - amazing!! Those last ending bars and harmony gave me goosebumps!

I’m so glad he lived a long life in spite of his health issues and his liver transplant!! He was a fantastic musician !!
Amen
Once again, nobody sounded like them
Thanks for calling attention to David Crosby's passing. Their music was a calling force.
Crosby's death has hit me. I've known their music nearly all my life. I love that song, actually all of Crosby, Stills and Nash music.
Rock In Peace David

Perfection at its best. R.I.P. David Crosby, we will miss you and thank you for sharing your life and music with us all.
Saw them front row live in 78. One of the best concerts I have ever been to.
So sad we will never have them again, but we have all the beautiful music from earlier. RIP David Crosby. Thanks Harri
Anyone who loves harmonies has to love these guys. They make it look so easy but it is not so. That’s why they’re giants among their peers. RIP David Crosby. 😇🌺💐🌻
Just gorgeous....❤
CSN&Y had the most incredible harmonies and I can't think of one single song that I don't love.
Great tune. RIP David. Yes wasted time... Yeah. Well, thanks.
I have seen them a number of times, and with Young, and they always lifted up the whole audience with their gifts.
Daniel and Harri - This selection is a most worthy tribute to David Crosby. Thanks to both of you for this dedication. RIP David Crosby
Thanks DaveBZen for your kind comments. Harri came through big time. 🙃👍☹️🤴🇬🇧🇨🇦🇺🇸

David now knows the truth -- the true meaning of life.
Great song, great live performance and great tribute to David Crosby
Memories flooding back.
Lovely harmonies , crisp, folky, easy listening, which is not to say that it’s easy to play and put together.

Great Harri..I just love any harmony bands
Rip David
Love your reactions. So heartfelt and pure! Big fan
Amen! Not only their fabulous harmonies, but brilliant, thoughtful lyrics amaze me.
One of only a few select bands that spoke for a generation , the other being the Beatles

Another great one Daniel, what a sad loss. So many lately. Thanks Harri.❤

Suite: Judy Blue Eyes....Carry On
So beautiful. CSN would call Y when they couldn't do something without him. This was not one of those times. Lol
LOOK AT THOSE 3 ROCK LEGENDS HARRI 😊 THE BYRDS, THE HOLLIES, AND BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD LESS ( NEIL YOUNG ) , YEAH DAVID WAS 81
I can listen to you all day- you have a beautiful, soothing voice and your positivity is uplifting.CSN and CSN and Y have gorgeous harmonies!
He will be missed.
Don't forget he was a member of the Buffalo Springfield as well

Please do Carry Me with Crosby and Nash! Great harmonies!!
Listen to Crosby and Nash "Wind on the Water" to hear the genius of David Crosby. "Carry Me" and "Bittersweet" are profound!
I think the harmonies stand out more in the studio recording.
True though this was done years later so they could not sound as they originally did on that original studio version!
Go back to all their 70s music - beautiful harmonies guitars.. music was great once - acoustic tooxx Try Carry On...
BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLLLLL HUH??? 😊
To really pay tribute to Crosby, you should play Wooden Ships or Long Time Gone or Almost Cut My Hair.
Harri, try "Shadow Captain" by CSN written by David Crosby.
"Ring them bells"
49 Bye Byes is an amazing song that represents their harmony. Please, sir, react!

If you have to pick box set to listen to when stranded on an island it would be hard to go wrong with the CSN(Y) edition.
