Throughout the ten years of band experience, I would have to say playing this piece would have been my favorite one alongside playing anchors away in front of admirals and captains for navy bootcamp graduations, it was honor to have ended the musician chapter of my life with the Navy band.
my 8th-grade band might be doing this for our contest this year! I'll tell you that the low brass was very excited while listening to this. my friends and i are absolutely obsessed with this song.
@@elijahailey7362 we didn't do it. i think they did this song with another band? but it doesn't really matter now considering we probably wont be returning to school this year.
@@jeremybedard1052 YES, its beautiful, I meant that this was the best part for this song specifically, but yes in that song the horn solis are amazing.
Big throwback to 8th grade 3 years ago… played the timpani part for san diego middle school honors band. Super exciting part too bad I quit percussion all together even though I was pretty darn good at it.
When my band was preparing for it, we were given it right after our fall concert to have enough time to prepare it for MPA and so my band director would mix the name with another piece we played called Turning Point and so my band director would call it Counterpoint instead of Counterbalance. It became a bit of an inside joke between all of the band members
We almost played this back in 8th but didnt. Im now in 10th, almost in 11th and im *still* mad about it. Update: college sophomore now, STILL upset about it
At 1:17 where the alto saxes echo the flutes is honestly one of the highlights personally, love this piece Edit: forgot to mention that I _am_ an alto saxophone player lol
@@theresachacon1122 lmao I don’t know why I said that almost two years ago, this piece is easy. I was just dumb back then and took in the fact that the band that performed this sounds amazing, changing my perspective on the piece making me think it was harder than it actually was LOL

@@tdoyr were playing this rn (8th grade too) and my friend who plays tuba agrees, but jesus christ they went hard on the trumpet part

Nice

i love the melody so damn much
As a sax player, if my middle school director told me to do that, he would have immediately regretted it

This song is pretty impressive for eighth graders
