You had me at Libertarian. I'm currently doing my research on mid-size trucks, and I found your review to be very well done. You covered a lot and with humor! I'll be checking out more on your channel.
Great video. I bought a 2024 Ranger XLT a month ago, bought it off the lot, has the 2.3 liter, FX4 package. No heated seats or spray in bedliner, for $43K I wish it did. Nice truck overall, so far I’m happy, I have always been a full size truck guy, but the Ranger is great alternative!
Nice truck. This was my exact build when the ranger 2.7 was first announced. I waited and waited but the engine option was delayed for ordering. So I said screw it and ordered Ranger Raptor! Finally got my Raptor and love it. Didn’t pay over MSRP either!
Im surprised you got a raptor before the 2.7. I ordered a raptor way before the 2.7 and, technically, am still waiting for Ford to build the raptor, lol. Enjoy! If you ever want to race, let me know 😉
I ordered this same truck months ago and it's going to be here Saturday and I can not wait! Literally same color, engine, packages, etc... I did get the hard folding tonnue cover from the dealership tho. Also ordered a 2.5" leveling kit and I'm throwing some Ko3 33s on it! Also ditching the side step lol. Will be towing a camper and doing some light off roading. I'll send you some photos of it and we can share mods we buy for them. It's been difficult finding aftermarket parts since they're so new.
Great, truthful review. People mention the high price, but All new trucks are expensive! Hopefully, your truck will last a long time. You have some great ideas for Ford engineers, too bad they don't take the time to listen to their customers.
ua-cam.com/video/Xd1LnZsdrpo/v-deo.htmlsi=RWGnvwLekVL18sx5 This guy said it only needs to be done if your Ranger was made before a specific date. I believe he says the date in the video. Mine already has them since it's a later production.
You must not have a proximity keyed vehicle. I hate having to reach in my pocket for my keys in my 04 Ram yet have the push button proximity in my scat pack Challenger. Bought a used Ranger & my two must haves after 4wd was proximity push button start & heated seats.
@jeffdohse7124 You are correct. I do not have the proximity stuff. As I have to take my key out to unlock the truck anyway, it's already in my hand to start the truck with. Not as much of a hassle with that combo, but I would for sure prefer a push-button start.
@YourFavoriteLibertarian I'm like you 'who needs those features?' then I bought my Challenger & on cold fall nights going from one job to another at 3 am that remote start & heated seats became NICE. Then I'd get out the Ram for winter and fumble with keys and have to scrape ice I was like nope if I replace the Ram I want the proximity fob & remote start with heated seats 😂
Thank you! I'm loving it so far. There are already more mods on the way to the channel as we speak, so make sure your subscription has the notification bell on 😉
Great video. I agree with pretty much everything said. There is rear passenger vents under the seats i believe. Just picked up my 2024 FX4 XLT in Velocity blue a week ago. Absolutley love this truck. Think they knocked it out of the park with this refresh. I also had an A/Z plan pricing since im a ford employee. Im going to hold off on mods for awhile but soon as the ford performance tune comes out I need to get it!!
Thanks! And yes, there are the under seats ducts that heat the back, but with the floor mats, they get blocked a little. Sure, it would be nice if the top half of my passengers could be heated and cooled, lol. Did you go with the 2.3 or the 2.7?
@richard.breslin It most definitely rips! One thing that I noticed test driving the 2.3 is that it will give you that "more push you back in your seat" torque at lower speeds. The 2.7 is faster and has more power, but the transmission is tuned so smooth that even in sport mode, you don't feeeeel the shifts as much or that boost payoff like the 2.3. I think you'll really like the 2.3. This 2.7 reminds me of my Taurus SHO that I had a while back. I'd think I was just getting up the highway speed, then look down at the speedometer only to find out that I'm casually going 90 something (hypothetically, of course, lol)
After me and my friends with the same truck did our truck a little different we came to the conclusion of the Afe magnum force cold air intake, Ford Ranger BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel and the ford with the Ford performance tune seems to give the best performance for power and MPG. I hava a friend who added the Mishimoto performance intercooler because he’s towing every other day for his small business and it runs smoother at all times.
Rather than a Start / Stop Eliminator I’d consider finding a guy in your area that’s a Forscan Guru who can hook up his laptop and turn off the Start / Stop through the main computer system of the truck. Not sure about the Ranger Community, but most local Bronco groups have a resident Guru. Also, if there are terrain modes that the XLT doesn’t have that may have been included Forscan can be used to turn them on. Since Ranger has a key, I don’t know if it double honks when you exit the vehicle with the engine running, but Forscan turns off this most annoying feature as well. Love your truck, btw. Not enough to get me outa my Bronco, but it’s very nice.
This has not been found to work yet in the new Ranger. I plan to do that when the hack is found though, as I'm about to use Forescan to get of the seatbelt message, warnings, and a few other things
I got a 24 XLT FX4 shadow black with bed steps and spray bedliner for $ 40,425. 2500$ off msrp. Financed for 4.52%. Planning on paying it off in one year.
I’m curious where people are getting these 4% rates. I’m part of several credit unions and a Navy Vet with 750 credit score and I haven’t seen anything below 7% recently. My only guess is a 36-60 month term with a very large down payment or large trade. Good on you for getting a great rate and nice truck.
I just bought a Ranger spec'd very much like yours and can't wait to take delivery in a couple days: V6, XLT-high, FX4, but this one has the basic towing package. I immediately plan to swap those pathetic tires for BFG KO2's, and will add a hard tonneau and bed liner. I did compare the XLT-high versus Lariat and realized a big problem with the Lariat: According to TireRack there are no decent all-terrain tires available in the stock tire size on the Lariat. Obviously there are larger 18" all-terrain tires but I want to stick to the factory diameter to avoid screwing up the engine controls or warranty.
I miss my KO2's. I had 33's on my 2018 JL Rubicon and they were a great all-a-rounder. I would have gone basic towing package, too, if I would have known the advanced wouldn't delete the co-pilot 360. I think you got the perfect setup, man. Enjoy it! Also, good points on the Lariat. I debated between the 2 trims as well.
Considering this engine has been in the f-150 for quite a while now, I'm more confident in it than if it were a completely new engine. Plus, I prayed over it, lol. There's a video that explains the belt drive really well that answered some of the questions I had. I've linked it below. I think this is it. ua-cam.com/video/O6QcXit-XXw/v-deo.htmlsi=YeChtYYVvDuxfEaI
Auxbeam 8 gang switch panel, rock lights, and forward light bar. Mine has adaptive cruise control that eliminates the use of the lower opening in the grill.
So what you're saying is, you want me to add a switch pannel so I can add more things to switch on in the switch pannel? I do like flipping switches...🤔
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian Yeah. I did it and it was a challenge. But it worked out well and looks cool if I do say so myself. I'm curious on how you would do it. And I could use a prayer if you get a chance.
@josephwhite-n9m I might wire up some EMP protection, so I'm wondering if that would add any complexity. Also, absolutely on the prayer request! Is there anything specific? You can comment it here or DM me on discord or Instagram if you want a more private setting.
I have a 2024 XLT with the 2.3L. I probably would have gone for the Lariat had I been able to get the cloth seats. But I hate leather as I find them more stiff, hot in the summer, and no where near as comfortable to sit on as cloth seats. I also do not like an all black interior as it sucks up all of the light and retains more heat in the summer. Which is why I got the sandstone colored seats. I find the cloth seats to be very comfortable. As for start/stop with a turbo engine, unless you are running it hard, under normal driving, it does not make much boost. So the turbo(s) shouldn't get that hot during the brief amount of time the engine turns off. Doesn't the new Rangers also have an oil cooler as well? Plus the newer engines use a larger amount of oil which helps reduce heat breakdown. Next time look at the oil temp when coming to a stop. If it heats up, the gauge should show that when the engine restarts. I haven't noticed that on mine and I have the oil temp displayed.
I'd love to buy a 2025 xlt, BUT, the very first thing I noticed was the ridiculous forward tilt of the head rests! It's almost a deal breaker for me. You're the only one that has commented on it out of the 100 videos I've watched. Have you somehow found a way to live with it? I noticed the Lariat and Raptors don't have the extream forward lean angle. But I can't afford that price jump.
You'd either have to take it out and put it in backwards (which I've done), or put the metal legs in a vice and bend them to your preferred angle. A possible 3rd option would be buying 2023 head rests and hoping they have the same hole spacing. I've been told by other viewers that the 2023 and earlier head rests tilt adjust. It's ridiculous that I even have to think about any of these options in 2024.
I originally ordered a 2023 Ranger Tremor, but a different dealership damaged it when they got it. The side of the bed had deep scratches through the base layers of paint. They didn't want to give me any discount or additional accessories for damaging the truck, so I declined delivery. So I've done a ton of research and have test driven the previous gen. When I went to place a new order with a new dealership, the 2023 ordering bays had closed. 4 dealerships and 1.5 years later here we are, lol. Oh, also, my Dad had a 1980's ranger with the side folding seats when I was a kid.
@YourFavoriteLibertarian I got a 2004 XLT ranger. And it is annoying with the hood not having gas struts but it's one less maintenance cost I've seen. My 03 Dodge Ive had to replace the gas struts a few times and have to replace one of them again.
I will keep an eye out for that display menu walk though video. I have been in a loaner 2024 F150 for over 2 weeks and HATE all the warnings and nannies. Seat belt chime at 5mph even if I stop again, the buckled seat belt notification for half a block down the road after leaving, etc. Is this Ranger similar? I LOVE my 2021 Ranger Tremor but at 50,xxx miles, it has been at the dealer just over 4 weeks. Got a remanufactured engine, rod bearing failed. Then they damaged the radiator so new rad....then they got a low oil pressure light but a new sensor seems to have solved it. I get it back tomorrow hopefully if all is well. I hope they do a good repair so I keep my truck but if not I am already looking. I prefer the looks of the GM mid-size but I think Ford has the better engine/trans combo. The 2.7L must feel so nice in that thing. The 2.3L still is nice enough for fun but I would go 2.7L as well since an MSRP Raptor is not possible.
I'm actually editing the screen video right now, lol. I'm hope they fix your Tremor soon. I originally ordered a 2023 Tremor, but the dealership scratched the crap out of it, so I had to decline delivery. If you do get a new gen Ranger, I would definitely get the 2.7. It's so freaking fast! Within all posted speed limits, of course, lol.
Thinking about this and the Nissan Frontier. It'll probably wind down to which will be better to drive in everyday because i put a lot of miles ony vehicles
I'm ichin to buy a Raptor Ranger. Front locker, the amazing suspension, 33's would cost 10k to do to a lower model. If only I could get it with cloth seats! :P
I believe it's included with the XLT High Package. But it might be standard equipment. I'm not sure as it doesn't list what it's in on the build and price website. Classic Ford, lol.
See...i didn't get the Advanced Tow Package because i wanted some on the Ford 360 features. Had i known that it wouldn't delete it i would have spent the extra money. My gray inserts look s lot darker than yours.... As in almost black Weird...... Also, i have the same tires as you and they absolutely suck balls. I will be upgrading to Michelin Defenders LTX'S in 255/75-17 as soon as i have the money. I am going to keep the stock rims. BTW... The Husky mud guards are awesome. Also got a Truxedo TruXport tonneau cover. With a forum discount, and a mail in rebate, it will be around $300 all in.
Yeah, these tires are wack 🙄. I'm trying to decide on what tires to get. I'll have more options after the leveling kit I'll be installing this weekend. I mean, mysterious videos coming soon. Forget what you just read, lol.
I would check out TFL Truck for that comparison. I haven't had any time with the Honda Ridgeline personally, so I can't speak to that. I can say the 2.7 coupled with the 10 speed transmission from @Ford is very smooth. It doesn't hunt for gears like the 2.3 does, and I've driven this truck spec'd exactly the same with both the 2.3 and 2.7. I've also done the same thing with the bronco engines.
I'm a GMC guy (and currently driving a 2024 Frontier funny enough), i'd probably choose this over the Canyon for the 2.7, the Canyon's 4 cylinder actually seems to be build pretty well but I think there's a bit more reliability in the 2.7 now after 10ish years. Allegedly a lot of the Ford 10 speed issues are ironed out now too. I would almost recommend a Z71ish Colorado over a Canyon even for the price and what most people actually use these for
I actually really like the front end of the new Ranger. It's more aggressive, in my opinion. But that's all it is...my opinion. I really don't like the new front end of the 2025 mavericks, but I'm sure some people love it.
Sad thing is when it's just 4 years old with 40k miles it will be worth half of that $43k price tag and look and drive the same. So why would anyone buy a new one especially if you can get a certified one with a better factory warranty 🤷🏽♂️
Yeah, I hear you. It's either less seating and more bed or less bed and more seating since they are not willing to take away the "garageability". It made sense for me since we are a family of 4, and I wanted to keep it in the garage in the winter months. But having those other options would definitely sell Ford more Rangers.
If the head rest are like my last gen ranger i believe you pull the headrest toward the windshield while grabbing on the top so it makes a downward forward movement. They should fully release and go 100% upright
I wish that worked. I tried your suggestion and watched videos from Ford on how to do it as well. Nothing moves them. Unfortunately, another thing @Ford cheaped out on with the new Ranger. That is unless someone else has another secret combo of Kung fu strikes I can try. In the videos, it was so easy, the guy was doing it with one hand. I'm putting my whole body in it, and nothing is moving.
In 18 when the rangers came out a friend of mine got a two wheel drive stx for 22,000 bucks! Now they are over a 100 percent higher! He wrecked the 18 and in six months or so bought a 22, for 23 thousand dollars! That’s three years ago!

@YourFavoriteLibertarian I was hoping we would get a 2025 Ranger Tremor in the USA since Australia got theirs already but doesn't look like it.
@@66racer Yeah, the Tremor needs to happen. I guess in the meantime, we'll just have to make our own 😉
Thinking about this and the Nissan Frontier. It'll probably wind down to which will be better to drive in everyday because i put a lot of miles ony vehicles
I'm ichin to buy a Raptor Ranger. Front locker, the amazing suspension, 33's would cost 10k to do to a lower model. If only I could get it with cloth seats! :P
Tell you what. If you want to trade seats with me when you get your Raptor, I'm down. 😉
What about a transmission cooler???
already has one
Is it built into the radiator or an external auxiliary cooler? Thanks for the review!
Wow. You still paid several thousand more than I paid new for my full size 2019 F150 Supercrew FX4 Sport 4X4 in November of 2019.
You can thank Bidenomics for the price difference. Try buying your same truck in a 2024 model year. You'll probably be over $60k or more, lol.
How do you get your back up camera
Is this engine and transmission better than 2024 honda ridgeline
I would check out TFL Truck for that comparison. I haven't had any time with the Honda Ridgeline personally, so I can't speak to that.
I can say the 2.7 coupled with the 10 speed transmission from @Ford is very smooth. It doesn't hunt for gears like the 2.3 does, and I've driven this truck spec'd exactly the same with both the 2.3 and 2.7. I've also done the same thing with the bronco engines.
How does this compare to a canyon at4?
Like...in a race? Lol
I would almost recommend a Z71ish Colorado over a Canyon even for the price and what most people actually use these for
I would personally buy this if it came with a 6ft bed.
A 6'3" bed would be ideal for me. Then I could sleep in it, lol.
Hope you not planning on having very long turbos will cost a lot when you replace them
I don't know. I was thinking of keeping it...FOR EV VER
Take care of it and don’t abuse it and he will be fine
The Maverick looking front end kills the Ranger for me.
You're right about the warranty. My Wrangler Rubicon had a 60,000-mile warranty. This one is only 36,000 miles.
Only thing Idislike. Ford no longer builds them with a six foot bed.
Yeah, I hear you. It's either less seating and more bed or less bed and more seating since they are not willing to take away the "garageability".
It made sense for me since we are a family of 4, and I wanted to keep it in the garage in the winter months.
But having those other options would definitely sell Ford more Rangers.
Ten speed transmission and the start/stop 😢
(Audience face palms) lol
I hate CR especially the annual vehicle report. The picture are way to small and electric cars blow .
I can buy a F150 for less than the ranger with a 2.7 ! They have all gone stupid crazy!
If you can, more power to ya!
In 18 when the rangers came out a friend of mine got a two wheel drive stx for 22,000 bucks! Now they are over a 100 percent higher! He wrecked the 18 and in six months or so bought a 22, for 23 thousand dollars! That’s three years ago!
Let's see how much you like it when that oil submerged rubber oil pump belt breaks. The 2.7 is junk.
I'll keep you posted
Over $40,000 for a mid sized truck. Wow
Truck prices are nuts these days, man.
By the time it's paid for most likely be ready for the scrap yard
Thanks
I do not like the new Rangers they are nearly as big as the f 150
Good to know
They're the same size of the f150's from the 80's /90's which is fine with me
Still fits in my garage. So I'm happy with the size.
Give me that pin number please.
🤣
Bed too small.
Yeah, it's bigger than last year, but it's still small.
Decent engine but ugly as sin
I'm curious to know if you like the current or previous body style more and why.
I would not give 5 cents for any infotainment centers
Great
Ford cheap built crappy looking interior
I think the maverick might be abetter truck
It may, depending on what you want to do with it. Use case is a big factor. For me, the Maverick doesn't tow enough.
