I've had the Ukrainian lyrics explained to me but I am sure you will get the correct meaning later on. But as I understood it they talk of their land as their mother and she is represented by the young woman in the video, protecting her children, her land against the evil demons coming out of the shadows. I mean, that's the interpretation the video gives me. And the lyrics to In the Shadows fits so well with what it makes me feel. I love this collaboration so much and it has given this, now 20 year old, song a new meaning. 💛💙
shadows are all Ukrainians who died defending their land. The video will show different eras. Modern Ukraine is a young girl who must be brave and defend herself, because the spirit of all ancestors is behind her, and her love is at war

Oh, btw, in case you don't know Kalush Orchestra are the band that won Eurovision last year. That's where these 2 band met and bonded over music. They did a street jam together in Turin where they mashed their songs together and so that's where this collaboration idea comes from. Kalush Orchestra gifted The Rasmus with one of their flutes when they filmed this video.
Came here to say this. I remember when that eurovision video was posted and thought it was the best thing ever. Then they did this ahhhhhh brilliant

Kalush Orchestra are one of my new favourites - their music is so creative and mixes so many genres perfectly. Definitely worth checking some of their other stuff out!
I have liked them almost a year now. Heard Stefania over 1 and 1/2 month before the Eurovision and started to check out what Kalush did more. I love both the songs with Skofka, Jerry Heil, Alyona Alyona and many more.

I love how you interpret the last verse as "as the sun comes, the shadows disappear" and as the words to actual Ukrainian anthem "our enemies will vanish as a dew under the sun".

Kalush is a rap group, on the side they created Kalush Orchestra to incorporate traditional folk instruments. They made another video with the same cossack that was in the Rasmus video- "Kalush Orchestra & KOZAK SIROMAHA - Нумо Козаки " ... Kalush playlist changed since the full scale invasion, understandably. And Kalush Orchestra has been committed to tour as goodwill ambassadors since the Eurovision win last May. But you will probably like anything from their youtube channel. I hope it won't be long before they can be back to their familiar joyful creating.

Well at least I am excited in the prospect of you checking them out and reacting to them further. You obviously know know they are not an Orchestra, but something QUITE AMAZING! Might I suggest, to start with you react to their LIVE Eurovision Performance, Stefania. Their new Shchedriy Vechir, Then theres Kalush and Skofka - Motherland, Davai Nachistotu, Hori, Zori, Tipok. Most should have subtitles. That should be enough to get you to fall in love. They have so much more as well!

Are you sure you get censored for talking about the situation in Ukraine? A lot of volunteers on the frontline have youtube channels, and Uncle Momo found a way. Kalush orchestra combine traditional instruments with rap. One of my favourite songs is Dodomo. Home. There is a video with English subtitles: ua-cam.com/video/OF7bh0Y3vyo/v-deo.html. There is of course also their Eurovision winner Stefania.
UA-cam says in its policies that we can't promote or criticise the war, so it's best not to elaborate on anything when the subject is brought up, because UA-cam can take the video down or even strike us

I’m from Russia and I was really looking forward to your reaction to this music video, because Russian fans of Rasmus took it controversially, for various reasons. I think this is due to the fact that Rasmus never got involved in politics. I am completely and completely against this war, my mother is from Ukraine, I have spoken two languages since childhood. but the scene with the beheading does seem like overkill, but that's fair enough. I react purely for the music, so if I'm smiling and cheering it's because the music is good and I'm enjoying it, also the fact that a stance is being made in this song makes me feel happy that the Ukrainian people are not taking it lying down.
When I speak about the war etc, I'm being very serious and not laughing about the situation in the Ukraine.
UA-cam has prevented people from talking about the war in either a positive or negative way by taking videos down if you are seen to be taking sides.
