Michael Manring - When last we spoke

- There have been many Jaco Pastorious musical tributes. e.g Miles, Marcus Miller, The Yellowjackets, et al. This one was missed in the rush, and is perhaps the most personal and profound -- A hauntly simple statement from a former pupil to his teacher.
This is taken from the CD 'Drastic Measures'. ...damn fine drumming
My favorite Manring song, ever. Always evokes many emotions with each listen.
Always have a visit on this one when i'm on the tube....so soothing....
That drumming always amazes me ...such controlled power 👍🏻

Oh my, I Love this beautiful music 😊
It should be remain in the hall of fame for contemporary jazz.
It's incredibly beautiful, gorgeous & lyrical tune I ever heard.
He's using a Zon Hyperbass with an Ebow and he's also using piccolo bass strings. All those long sustained notes are with an Ebow that he palms and holds with his pinky and ring finger which leaves his thumb, forefinger and middle finger free. For a detailed explanation of how he uses an Ebow check out his instructional home video.
Beautiful!
A very very great song. Extraordinary.
The stuff of legends, and such feel. I love his playing.
So Powerful!!!

As I said on Facebook; Food for the soul...:)
This makes my dog howl.
Admiral Ackbar cool! 👍🏻👏🏻
Fretless bass =the unique sound
I think most of his tone just comes from the fact that he plays fretless.
That's whats up brother
@BassmanDannyFox Same here, good luck learning. :)
AceHarding: are you on fretless? Cause thats whats making the unique sound.
