Evan, you seem like a totally different person, you are so energetic and enthusiastic about what you are doing. I think it is because you quit your job and the farm is no longer a hobby - it is your life. I am an old man and I would be very very proud of you if you were my son. My wife and I just love you and Rebecca, you are our FAVORITE YT channel. Art & Melissa from Ohio
Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, live stock raising, tractor driver, lawn mower... this farm calls on all your skills, Thanks for sharing. BTW, nice job on the pen and loading chute. You and Rebecca will have a gem showcase of a place.
Awesome job. Might think about cutting the boards or adding a board at the turn going into the trailer next to barn. Good place for animals to catch their hips on those when they turn to go into the trailer. Ask me how I know😅
Hi, Evan! The little sheep gate is very clever. The whole loading chute is clever. The gravel portion of the chute should be a big help. Loving your videos.
Go back a few years and watch some of Evan's old videos. It's amazing how much they've gotten done and how nice it looks. Makes me feel like a 70 year old slacker.
The thing to remember, is you only have to do this once! You wouldnt need posts, just secure it to the barn poles. Saves lumber. So glad to see your progress!
I might suggest doing a few test loads now to make sure it works as planned before you actually need it. The steers might enjoy a ride around the block...
You did a great job! Don’t listen to those couch farmers, and carpenters they always do it better! 😏😏 I love your channel and how human you both are! 😊😊
EVAN BEAUTIFUL JOB TODAY. 5 STAR 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 PATCH THE POST WITH THAT PIECE YOU POPPED OUT OF IT WITH GLUE AND A COUPLE SCREWS NOBODY WILL LOOK AND NOTICE IT.. I KNOW IT BOTHERS YOU.. I NOTICED IT FITS PRETTY GOOD... THE WHOLE JOB LOOKS REALLY GOOD. 👍👍👍👍👍 🖖
Loading coral looks good in my opinion. The barn looks in good condition and just needs a coat of paint. Of course, that's my opinion from 1500 miles away and seeing it on you tube
Great project that is fairly coming together. You are making a huge difference to the farm. You’ll be ploughing next. 😂 A wee tip for any future projects when you are nailing or screwing boards try and place the board so when they cup that they are cupping towards the post. Looking forward to the next video already. 👍
Great job Evan. After all that hammering I know your forearms have got to be screaming right now. Adding some bracing on the inside of the barn along the shute wall should strengthen it up enough to keep the steers from doing too much damage. That is, if you even need it. It's not as though you're running 100 head through there on a regular basis. Being a full-time farmer now has really worked out well for you and I'm looking forward to the completion of your #1 goal, the fencing project.
I think the loading chute came out perfectly ! No negative comments here ! if you are happy how it came out that is all that matters. On my projects, I always say, " if you are providing or buying all of the materials, I will gladly let you tell me how to do it ! Keep up the good work and providing the excellent videos.
Great job. Your planning paid off and in the future it will hopefully make life easier. My only thought is when you do go to load maybe some straw over the gravel will make it less of a abrupt transistion.
Looks great. I'd add a small piece of 2x8 on the strong concreted post, by the little red gate just so it matches. Lol Should work great. Looking forward to the single wide pond bridge project
Yes sir I agree. You really should close up the sight lines on the chute. Additionally, son you buttoned up the two short gates like an old hand. You should be proud. jmp
Chute looks great. You may want to consider putting plywood on the outside as they make the turn towards the trailer so the animals do not see anything but straight ahead
I've driven some of those long nails before. I'm not sure if it's something in the neighborhood of muscle memory or not, but watching you drive them made me think my arms were sore. No joke 😂
Always enjoy your videos, and you present them so well. I admire the many skills you have. I bet if there was a flood, you could build an Ark. Very best wishes to you and Rebeka from Ireland.
Hi Evan you might consider putting a couple of boards along the tin siding in the race, cattle will dint the side of the shed otherwise, keep up the good work love your property
I wouldn't set post next to the barn. Just attach some 2x8 to match the outer fence. To keep the animals from punching through the metal siding. Good luck and God bless
The project came out GREAT! If you still have that chunk of post that you hit, I’d slather on some all weather wood glue, stick it back in place an hold it with a few nails. Mainly for looks, because everything else looks so good! Congrats on another great project!
You could put another layer of metal siding on the barn instead of a fence on the barn. It should increase the thicken of the wall, only as tall as your fence .
We learn so much from your channel... We are documenting our homestead startup to contribute to UA-cam in the way that you two did!!.. thank you for another great Video!!
judithB I am edging my driveway with landscape timbers and pinning them with 12" nails and some rebar. Keeps them from moving when a vehicle hits them. I am not used to swinging a sledge for sure!! LOL I am having to chainsaw some of the ends to fit around bends, and then drilling holes for the pins. 30 of them should finish the job and it already looks better!! Also using a maddox to remove the old rotten tembers. I am ready to move onto another project!!
I didn't read all of the comments but you need to drill pilot holes into your lumber, especially using long fasteners on thick lumber......makes it easier on the arms.
Run some extra boards vertical- half way between the post. Keep your boards from warping and make it a little more sturdy. Especially on the west side of the corral ( the bunching pen). As for the building if you want to protect the metal just use 2x4s vertical attached to the metal, then run boards horizontal, no need to put more post in. Love the time you take show us what you do!!!
Evan, you need to round the corner out the fence on the barn side, to prevent bruising the shoulders of the livestock when loading. Maybe run boards on the side of the barn.
Nice looking set up. You would find it helpful to have a way of keeping the animals from backing up in your chute. A 2x4 behind the animal is usually effective. Another reason to have a fence next to the building. Another thing, a judas goat would help with moving sheep.
Great job on the bunching area and shute, Evan. I love the red gates. The steers and the sheep will definitely enjoy that new area with the pines as well. Looks so peaceful. I know doing all this fencing you have done this year might be a real pain in the butt....however, your homestead is looking like a picture on a Norman Rockwell calendar. Y'all have a Blessed day.
You did a great job! The only thing I noticed is the last corner of the shed the post and rails stick out 6 inches. From experience a rushing animal will cut the corner and could injure itself. God Bless
Evan if you ever have problems with the cattle going up your ramp but a little later of dirt on it so it is a different surface for them to walk on that they are used to walking on
you may need to put a block on the back of the wooden gate latch so cattle going by dont drag it open, also a walking ramp up alongside the loading ramp would be nice to get up above the cattle as you load them. Pre drill long nails . YOU really need a crowding gate to swing in behind the animals in the big bunching pin!!!!! i would actually put a couple gates in it !! put a hot wire out at the road and do a test run with the cattle and see what you need !! just a bumper board on the side of the barn would be ok just to keep the from crushing it in or dragging the edge loose !! you may want to fix some drop gates/ backup stops on the alley as you dont have any way to stop a calf from backing up the whole length of the alley . LOOKING GOOD so far just a couple of tweeks to get it right FOR YOUR operation!!!!! just remember gates , gates ,gates the best money you can spend!!! have fun
Sir you did a great job you build it how you want to I built a catch pin an loading chute out of cedar post wire panels an a little scrap lumber was told it would never work I can tell you that I've unloaded an loaded many cows calfs an bulls from it doesn't matter how its built just as long as it works
Fencing is a lot like roofing, either too cold or too hot. I used to do a lot of carpentry and used a nail/screw or clamp to hold the boards I was nailing/screwing. And they didn't cost me an hourly rate. Looking good, I might suggest in time you could use a cordless nailer, they will speed up things tremendously. As always slow and steady wins the race. Looking forward to the next video.
So good to hear you say you are pleased with the result of your hard work. You often say something like “maybe I should’ve done” etc. so this is a good job done project.
Grab some glue and a couple of screws and stick that piece of post back on there. It'll probably have the effect of protecting the post as well. Great job!
Evan, you seem like a totally different person, you are so energetic and enthusiastic about what you are doing. Amen!
@@artszabo1015 Totally agree 👍
Your livestock chute looks good and operates like you want it to so it’s perfect. 🤠👍🙏🏼🇺🇸😎✌🏼
As a long time subscriber you cease to amaze me all the things you accomplished. That loading chute is a good one. 💪👍
Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, live stock raising, tractor driver, lawn mower... this farm calls on all your skills, Thanks for sharing. BTW, nice job on the pen and loading chute. You and Rebecca will have a gem showcase of a place.
Well done sir. You’re turning into a regular Farmer Tyler (Ranch), one of our other favorites.
Awesome job. Might think about cutting the boards or adding a board at the turn going into the trailer next to barn. Good place for animals to catch their hips on those when they turn to go into the trailer. Ask me how I know😅
Wow, nice work!!! I like the way you built out that last post where you attached 2 gates!! 🪵🪵🪵
I was holding my breath when you were pounding in the rebar- I thought - don’t hit the water line again 😂😂
Hi, Evan! The little sheep gate is very clever. The whole loading chute is clever. The gravel portion of the chute should be a big help. Loving your videos.

Evan I think you did a fantastic job on your loading fence and gates.
I very much admire your construction skill. I don't think that I could have done it that well. I think that your loading area turned out great!
Thanks for such quality content. Sending positive vibes from the uk.thank u.
Good looking chute system. A real ornery critter might test it, most will behave and go where they should. Another great day(s) on the farm!
The thing to remember, is you only have to do this once! You wouldnt need posts, just secure it to the barn poles. Saves lumber. So glad to see your progress!
Great job as always mate thanks again and good luck with your next project mate
I might suggest doing a few test loads now to make sure it works as planned before you actually need it. The steers might enjoy a ride around the block...
I really like how made that loading shoot for loading cows and all that nice job
Your creativity and skill sets never cease to amaze me. You are an amazingly talented individual. Keep up the great work!

Great looking corral. Evan, you look so happy and peaceful since you retired from your full time job. I think full time farming agrees with you.😄
@@carolefoster4023 I totally agree.
I really like your idea to weld wire panels to your gates. Smart people do Smart things & you're one of them!

Hey Evan, don't forget to save that piece of post for your wall of shame.
Excellent job! Love the video. Great process!
Evan, as always another good job. You put a lot of thought into your work. 👍🚜💪🏼
I'd SO glue that piece back on that post! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
You’re making great progress around your place. Great job today!!

He can’t do that because he has to put that chunk on the wall of shame. 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Evan, you did a very good job.
More projects like this ! Great process
you really hammered it home with this one
On the sheep gate, put a lag bolt behind the slide bolt so the handle has to lifted to slide back and open.
You could put another layer of metal siding on the barn instead of a fence on the barn. It should increase the thicken of the wall, only as tall as your fence .
Hi.... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Looks awesome !!!!! 😊🙏👍❤️
I smiled so much as you built the corral and ramp. IMO your detail and build is better than new home builders put into framing development housing.
Great job Evan!! Looks amazing!
Evan makes it feel like you’re right there with him on the farm! 😊
You need to add boards on the metal side of the shed, cattle in a tight area will Bunch up and the metal will bend.
We learn so much from your channel... We are documenting our homestead startup to contribute to UA-cam in the way that you two did!!.. thank you for another great Video!!
@RedRockRanchAL, I just went over to your site & subscribed.
@chris3m98 thank you very much we appreciate it!!
I think the barn should be painted red to match the gates😊. I love a wooden fence.
I don't know about the Muscle But the Tan is exceptional! LOL!
excellent job Evan , always admire your persistence in doing it right
Looking good don’t let other peoples comments change your mind looks like you have thought it through.
I love evening time on a farm. Cooler temperatures, shaded area's, less wind, easier to hear nature. That's your reward.

I didn't read all of the comments but you need to drill pilot holes into your lumber, especially using long fasteners on thick lumber......makes it easier on the arms.
Take that piece you knocked of the post, drill pilot holes and nail it back on ;)
You are getting really good at this fence building. Fencing is also something us urban people find interesting too.👍
Run some extra boards vertical- half way between the post. Keep your boards from warping and make it a little more sturdy. Especially on the west side of the corral ( the bunching pen). That's a fairly clean break on the post, some wood glue would stick that piece back no problem
Evan, you need to round the corner out the fence on the barn side, to prevent bruising the shoulders of the livestock when loading. Maybe run boards on the side of the barn.
You can swing a Hammer I'll give you that . Good job . Work speaks for it self.

Great job Evan! Not feeling well at all, didn’t even go fishing! So watching this made my day!
Nice Job 👍
Coming from a livestock handling past, that setup looks great. Good job.
Great Video! You will love having a reliable loading alley. It takes a lot off your mind when you have to load on a schedule.

Great design, build execution excellent, style and functionality perfect! Evan no one can criticize perfection!😂

If you need a force leading into the chute, put in a spur fence so you can swing the large gate in to 45 degrees.
Great job Evan, well done and you ROCK!!😊
good work Evan.. thanks for sharing
Love watching❤.

no problems this time glad it went well for you thank you for shareing i really enjoy all your videos also
