- There are two things to pay attention to in todays video. First, a quite frankly shocking amount of damage done in a tier 6 battleship. Second, winning or losing can often come down to a single bad call made under pressure at a critical moment.

Dont understand why he kept burning and didn't use his repair kit to put out the fire towards the end. Yes he would have most certainly been lit ablaze again. But it would have prolonged things long enough to have been able to use the repair kit again.
c koch - at that point I would have saved it as well. He can’t turn or the Bayern will kill him and you have to expect the bombers are on the way. I do agree with Jingles though, 1 BB shooting at you is better than 2.
Repairing 1 fire is stupid, especially if you are constantly under fire. If you can disengage while the repair party is up, that's a different matter, but having a CV in play with only 2 ships in your team remaining and 2 BBs unloading at you at that range, it'd be fatal. It's easy to say "he shoul have..." and what not after knowing what happened, but while being under this much pressure... nah.
Just imagine what would have happened if at least 1 of those BBs were to switch to HE and he doesn't have repair party or the CV were to decide to drop him. 2-3-4 fires and/or flooding and game over. Personally if I were 1 of those Bayerns, I may have got bored of bouncing off him and switch to HE at some point to see what would happen.
Putting out 1 fire when you're about to go within secondary range of 2 Bayerns is not exactly the brightest move. That's 120 4% fire chance HE shells per minute.
that Ryujo can't have been out of aircraft. Those 3 strike squadrons idling in the middle of the map lategame had to be from a dead carrier, and the Independence on the enemy team was still alive. So, that Ryujo decided to just go into the middle of the map well within spotting range of most surviving friendly ships.

Meh, While I guess the Arizona isnt good against Aircraft. I guess we can say if Japan were anything other then a nation, it would be weak to 2 bombs. *laughs in American*

What a great video, jingles. More of those please. I love those tactical nuances. This was a very interesting watch. All your comments put it right to the point and I very much enjoy reviewing decisions taken in my own games, just like that.
Oh, by the way, did I mention, that I do not actually play WoWs ? I'm rather a WW2 air combat simulator guy (Cliffs of dover, Il2-series), but if one thing holds true in any game - bad decisions stick. Even those taken with good intentions and decent considerations.

I can honestly say that I've never felt badly hurt when fighting planes in the Arizona. It does a fine job unless you follow the Flamu school of bote'ing and favor concealment. Then you're made of damage farming for enemy carriers.
19:42 I rather strongly disagree, Jingles. Decisions can only be judged in the moment and there is no possible way for SirDerp to have known that the two battleships would decide to come out of the cap to pursue him instead of staying in the cap and killing him from there. His decision was a good one in the moment, unlike the decision of an unarmed carrier to try to ram one with plenty of planes to spare, especially as he probably isn't an American AAA junkie like me and thus probably didn't spec to defend against planes.
No matter what pressure ur under, your primitive motive to kill the weakest enemy should prevail. I would’ve done that in my own Arizona. That Bayern had enough health to die in one salvo.

The Ryujo hadn't run out of planes. It's squadrons where there on the screen and went for the BB.
Staying alive is more important than trying to kill in cases of collecting points or deny enemy to do it. specially in a cv in open waters... only rare case where a cv can try a ram is hiding behind a rock and just at the corner an enemy ship pops up and he can ram before take more of 2 salvos.
All others cases are just suicidal for few chances of success.
That’s probably more the cause of defeat than mistake of aiming the wrong BB at the end (even if it was a mistake for sure, but as Jingles said, in such tense moment, unable to know when will fall the salvo who will kill u, still can be understandable he was kind of too much focusing on the wrong target and it’s easy to judge, less easy to do)... and he did a great game no doubt about that.

On in this map about tactic, the best one is always starting by A & C and finish by B to try to escape crossing fire around B.

I love the detailed play-by-play you give in these games. You have a way of turning a match into an interesting tale with meaningful characters and events. Like Grampa Jingles reading a bedtime story.
Its such a contrast to people like Quickybaby who often doesn't even mention what's happening in a replay until the last couple minutes. That annoys me =/

All right and so on. But Jingles as u said: the only thing he had to do was to sink one of the bayerns and win the game. That seperates the good from the unicum players. Acknowledge these situations and act accordingly. Another hint: never trust your teammates if u wanna win ;). On the other hand I never saw such a high DMG game in an Arizona. So gg in that regard ;)
I don't think its even a "seperates the good from the unicum players" situation, most players would have prioritized finishing off the weaker even if for no other reason than tunnel vision (they probably would have bothered to split their fire to keep the cap though). I would say he got locked into the mindset of resetting the cap even after it stopped mattering but he was randomly switching targets throughout the game (if he hadn't given up on shooting at the broadside Fuso in favor of a distant angled cruiser then the fuso might not have even been alive to stop the independence ram).
If he hadn't reset that second Bayern, he might have stayed in the cap, captured it, and then they wouldn't have gotten enough for the 40 from the kill to let them win in time.
Well bayern was already out of the cap when he had the chance to kill him. So my point still stands. But I just mentionned what good players seperates from unicum. He played well the whole battle except for this minor mistake. But its the most decisive one.
It's a matter of could have.. should have. Though the most viable would've been to kill the one With the least hp, but the problem would've been exposing the side to the one With most hp, so... Maybe switching to HE could have helped? burned them Down.
Well wait for their salvos turn a little bit since gun angles on Arizona are quite good and the delete that Bayern. He has a 30ish sec reload. Not even worth thinking about HE.
u know the icon in WOWS, like the minimap, in game or list of owned ships in port as well as the bit that displays the ships name and captins name? well they are really small on my screen. does anyone know how to make them bigger?

Should have continued to fire on the Fuso and should have risked the broadside against that bayern.

Those enemy aircraft carriers did work. Nice to see some competent cv captains out their to fight alongside. I'm holding off of buying the Shokaku until the new cv gameplay is revealed.
I don't even play this game but I just love the commentary.
When I run out of aircraft in my carriers, I like to try to provide AA support to friendly forces, if I can get into position in time to be of any use. That's not always possible, of course.
9:24 Classic BB player :D. He does have flat broadside of Fuso, one of the most valuable targets and instead he decided to go for a bow-in cruiser which cant even use HE, hence no threat to him at this range. BBs do this EVERY time. Every time they see cruiser anywhere on map. Very enjoyable to play cruisers theese days

Ryujo had quite a few aircraft left - look at these attack squadrons circling helplessly near A - these are Ryujo's orphans.
That replay was all over the place, but you could tell it was going to be chaotic right from the start when the team had no communication on what caps they would be going to. Instead they figured it all out when they collided in the B cap. The fact that the two enemy CV's didn't turn that cap into torpedo alley is amazing. It was a shooting gallery. Sir Derp had a great game. Kudo's to him, but got to agree with Jingles. He wasn't under pressure at all during that whole battle. Makes it easy to farm points when nobody is really focusing on you. As soon as the pressure situation hit he made some bad decisions. Live and learn. There isn't one WoW player that hasn't made bad decisions in pressure situations.
His positioning and the way he sails at half speed towards the end is what got him killed. Also him holding his fire on first Bayern

To be fair, in order to get more guns on the low health Bayern he would have had to show more side to the first Bayern and that would be a loss still.

Sure, while the bow/stern would be overmatched, showing more side still means a larger target profile, so easier to hit, and then the side armor itself may become pennable, also meaning possible citadels, so double rip.

Wow.... what i just realized is that in this battleship you can shoot a full salvo twice a minute. So you have a maximum of 40 salvos in a 20 minute match. Wow. All that damage in less than 40 salvos.
His aim is excellent, but his target choice is terrible.
I was the Ryujo [RCN]Metallic25th, I'll remember this battle, My priority first was to target Enemy DD's, I had ask the other CV to meet me in the middle, but I beached on a couple islands. seeing our points falling due to no caps and running low on planes tried to make a push to B, and hope to sneak around and Secondary the Indies on the other side. Once that first salvo hit tried to evade, and then got deleted... Nice Shot btw Sir Derp. (posted from wife's account.)

If he had trained his guns on the lower hp bayern instead of spreading fire between both of them he could've at least dragged one down with him and equalise the score, and if he had chosen to charge into the 2 bayerns instead of running away from them he might've been able to take one down and ram the other if he was lucky.
Lot's of 'ifs' here, but ultimately some rather bad tactical decision making on his part tbh, and that like what someone said, is what separates the good players and the unicums
He shouldn't have contested the C cap with those Bayerns at all. Losing 1 cap out of 3 was irrelevant at that point, and if he'd simply run north after the Independence and stayed alive, he would have secured the win. Certainly once the second Bayern came back around the island, he should have been making tracks out of there.

Firing angles. To bring front guns to bear on wounded Bayern, needs to give more broadside. Healthy Bayern pushing, so split front/rear gun targets to maintain hull angle. Then he lost the option when he pulled a Notser.
Seen comments on shot selection. He always shot the target pushing hardest and threatening his div mate. Nice bloke to have on your side. And he got 240K dmg. I wish I could get my shot selection that wrong. GG.
This match is actually intense, like for real.

Ah, Jingles. Lower velocity also means steeper arc. Long range means plunging fire on the deck. There is also a chance of citadel hits.
Like most disasters, this required a series of mistakes (any one of which would have made the difference).
If the Bayern had been killed, or Independence had lived, it would have been a win. Another consideration is that removing the first Bayern sooner would have saved damage on the Arizona. He did have to keep both BBs reset or keep the cap green, but not once they had left the circle.
Press F for respect...then break out your strongest booze, cuz that hurt big time
Dunno if anyone pointed this out but Arizona is a Pennsylvania class BB.
It is always the same, to improve your odds to survive you always have to reduce the number of guns shooting at you
Also, he's only used two of his five heals. In order to make proper use of them, you have to start using them a bit earlier in the game. He's took the first one more then 13 minutes into the game, while sailing around with a fair amount of possibly renewed HP for quite some minutes.
I can see saving the heals if you only have two or three of them, but with five on the board, you gotta start using them earlier, even if you won't get the maximum out of it.
It's the little things that matter and remember, never to interrupt the enemy when he's making a mistake XD.
One of those "If you want big numbers, play against people who don't shoot at you".
6:04 i see where this is going. from the layout at this point the entire team is relying on old Arizona to keep up the pressure from the south, or the rest of the team will be bottle necked into the islands and surrounded.

I don't think War Thunder Navy can ever pressure WoWS. Not because it's bad (there are still plenty of things that have to be worked on, but that's normal for CBT), but simply because the two games are so different, even more different than WoT and War Thunder Ground Forces.
I have heard some rumors that world of warships is being released on console. Anyone have any info on that?

I feel this dudes pain, I had a game in the North Carolina where I did 226k damage, received High Caliber, Confederate, two Devastating Strikes and Kraken Unleashed, but we still managed to lose the match.
It wasn't just that last few shot decisions that meant he lost, throughout the match which target he chose was fairly questionable.
This is the problem with using damage alone as an indicator for how "well" someone played. Yes, doing damage is incredibly important, but you could do 300k of damage to enemy battleships, but without any of them being sent down to Davey Jones' locker, its all meaningless.
For example, he switched targets from the Fuso when it was on really low health, letting him escape and regain health. Not only was that points that his team could have won with, that Fuso would assist the enemy carrier in sinking the friendly one.
And as a more general point about his play style, he's in a ship with the second highest health of any at tier 6 (top tier) a health pool that was only really used after the majority of his team was dead... His biggest mistake was not shooting at 1 Bayern over another, in this situation, it was one of many discussions that cost his team the match, but before that, not pushing the enemy and taking hits for his team so they could survive longer and do more damage themselves. Yes, you give up these cricket scores of damage done, but you'll win more consistently.
Only Jingles could have single handedly came to that magnificent end of the game like that..GG...🚢

"2 carriers in play" This is getting out of hand, now there are *two* of them!
Whenever I run out of planes I find the nearest BB and act as a shield / extra AA. Seems the most logical.
The difference was the carriers, he Red carriers had 7 kills to the greens 0, and for some reason the red independence still had full strength plane groups.

I would have gone for the less healthy Bayern too probably and hope for a good roll - but if rng wasn't friendly, and angled Bayerns can absorb dmg, it would then be a question of waiting for reload or trying to creep it left at low kts at that point, and presenting loaded guns at the low health Bayern and more broadside to the healthier Bayern. I think the ram attempt was a map awareness failure. I can understand the motivation to take out the enemy Independence but trying that knowing I'd be visible and broadside to a Fuso closing distance for multiple salvos - either he didn't know or didn't care if the Fuso got him, as it did - and it accomplished nothing. Of course, the Independence could have totally missed the NM screening and expected to draw fire from the Fuso allowing more time to chase and ram, or the Fuso could have totally missed the Indy when he fired but the cv got the NM quickly and the Fuso quickly deleted the Indy. In the heat of battle it can be tough to connect the dots, though what happens to cvs sailing broadside to Fusos is pretty simple to figure out.

Right there is the problem I *hope* they fix with carriers: SirDerp's 2 CVs combined for 26 plane kills and 0 ship kills in the game. The enemy CVs shot down 43 planes and sank 7 ships between them. The effect of the carrier skill gap is too much to overcome 99% of the time.
Actually Jingles it wasn’t the LMB that he didn’t do right. It was the RMB button. If only he had been paying attention to where he was going he would’ve known that there was an opening to go broadside and then kite around the island for the win. The lack of map and directional awareness on his part sealed the game.

Oh Jingles, you so silly.
Don't think the other carrier would have made a difference. The enemy team put in a lot of resources on it when it made the ram attempt. Those resources would have been moving West otherwise, and got to both CVs earlier.
Not sure why SirDerp didn't use his repair to prolong things for a little time, especially once grounded.
this is a nice follow up on a discussion which i had ingame with a stubborn T10 BB driver who complaint he is losing all the time although he is doing over 100k damage, he did not want to understand that damage counts for nothing if you do not kill any ships. I'd rather shoot a low HP target and (have a chance to) kill it than farming damage on a different target if i have the option. This did not want to go into his brain and his standpoint was, doing damage is more valuable to the team than killing ships....*facepalm* Taking ships/Guns out of the game should always have priority over your own damage highscore. it gives your team points, it deducts points from the enemy and there are less ships/guns which can kill you or your team mates.
He'd have had to turn broadside to finish off that Bayern with the front turrets which would have been suicide, possibly even before he could get the shot off. He was firing the rear turrets at the Bayern with the least amount of health the whole time.
Hindsight is 20/20 is the phrase you're looking for

He couldn't have finished him even if he wanted to.Of course, fighting them at all was a bad decision. One cap would have made no difference; they would have won on points before the enemy team caught up. Even if the enemy carrier started capping A, they were just too far behind on points.
