I have never in my 46 years of life watched a more satisfying video than this. Reggie is big time OG. I seen Fountain boats at the Cincinnati boat show like I don't 90? Fountain is legendary.
Reggie is a very nice guy, and one hell of a good boat maker. Me and Reggie III had some great times back in high school trying to jump the Fountain's Subarban and my Dodge Diesel around school in Kinston. My dad and I took several test rides in these boats and there is nothing like them. Keep on with the wins Reggie!!
I've followed Reggie for years with his sales videos, Powerboat magazine articles, and on-line info. All the bullshit aside, Fountain would kill you on a race-course. I ain't talkin' about his hair or his business, I'm talkin' about boat racing offshore. He was an animal. Arguably the greatest offshore racer of all time.
Fountain boats were made of lightweight strong Kevlar And yes they were the fastest boats on water Fountain would blow away Cigarettes Formulas Donzi Scarab, His boats were that fastest in the world, boats you could buy and actually go 80 to 100 mph with ease , all the other brands were like 60 to 70 mph Reggie reminds me of Don Aronow, a true innovator and leader in the industry , nothing is better than a fountain,
In 1993 i drove it from Newport Beach to Catalina Island. That was awesome and will always be a moment to remember for me. On the pacific ocean with 100mph. OMG
Yeah to bad cuz reggie would have been pushing forward...but damn that was a nasty time for most...what would he have done with his drive and love of power boats
@IntwatPapsmir Fountains are the fastest, best handling, most efficient boats on the water but go for a ride in one in big water and you'll wish you had stayed on the dock. Fountains are pad-bottom boats and they ride very rough. And from a purely quality standpoint, they are way behind Cigarette, Nor-Tech and Outerlimits. Reggie sacrificed materials quality for speed and handling. Having said all that, he did great things for high performance boating and I wish him all the best in his new biz.
I saw the red boat(LUCAS OIL)blow the deck cleats off the "cat killer" coming out of Turn 1 in Key West 2014(cat killer had 3000hp and LUCAS had just 2150). The Mercedes Benz cat ran off and left the "cat killer" at that New Jersey Poker Run where Reggie tried to get the jump on Gino by coming up through the idling herd. He knew he couldn't beat the 3100hp cat so he tried a trick and it backfired on him.
He engineered none of those designs. The plane wedge was designed by marlin marine in clyst st. Mary Exeter Devon UK as was the "stepped Transom" (moulded gill bracket). You want to talk to the master, Talk to Steve Curtis Of class 1 fame.
I'm not some Fountain fan boy nor am I even a Fountain boat fan. With that said, who cares if he didn't come up with any of those features. He put them together & built a bot that is a formidable machine. I personally like the old school deep vee & flat deck design on the Apache, Cigarette, Scarab, ect. It's a much better ride on those old heavy wave crushers. You can run faster & more comfortably with those old resin buckets. Those hulls are tough as nails
Both cool....im on the west coast...we have dcb.... Eliminator... Nordic...some beauties. I have an eliminator i bought in 2003...rebuilt and repowered twice... Currently on the interior...
@geobabalis said, "is he wearing a fountain sport wig?" Looks like a polyester blend to me -- in order to minimize hydrodynamic drag while permitting a comfortable landing in rough water.
Reggie stated in an interview that he spent about 100 million on racing, research. If he had saved 10 million of that, he would have been able to save his company.
Hey, what differenece does it make what he spent it on, he said he could have saved the company if he had kept 10 mill. Don't dissect it. I said research, now keep quiet.
What is with that guy is hair is this the 1960s or something or is she wearing a wig.? It looks like he's got a helmet of head it looks really funny and weird at the same time I can't help but stare at it I don't know why the guy is so insecure about having no hair
@@TonyMontana-hb6uj Cigarette already did it. They put TWELVE electric motors in a 38 and got almost 100mph iirc. But b/c of the high prices of the motors and batteries, they had to put a $5million price on it which is why they still have it on their showroom floor. The new electric cars and trucks(I have a deposit down on a Tesla cybertruck) will soon have much more powerful battery packs and motors for more speed and range capabilities. Auto makers are bringing more and more EVs to market but FCA(Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep), b/c of its idiotic refusal to shift over to EVs, will not last another 10 years. Electric power will have to bleed over into the Marine industry. There is no other choice. Dinosaur oil is going the way of the dinosaurs.
@@TonyMontana-hb6uj It will happen sooner or later. The biggest hurdle as I see it is protecting the electrics from water. We'll have wait and see what happens.
yeah.. drive and ride on both of 'em then try to tell me that.. fountains are cheap mass produced pos, they don't come close to the fit, finish and ride of the cigarettes.. you don't really believe that you get the same hull as the race boats do you?.. not even close
I have never in my 46 years of life watched a more satisfying video than this. Reggie is big time OG. I seen Fountain boats at the Cincinnati boat show like I don't 90? Fountain is legendary.
I'm glad I'm not the only girl who loves Fountain boats 🥰
I like his philosophy and his calm confident delivery which obviously reflects his extensive experience

Reggie has fine plummage. I wish I could buy a Reggie Fountain Racing Wig!!!!
Ben Kramer in his 41 apache would have handled Reggie just fine. With Bob on the sticks.

13 ans déjà pour cette vidéo, et j'adore toujours ces boats ! 👀👍❤😎
In 1993 i drove it from Newport Beach to Catalina Island. That was awesome and will always be a moment to remember for me. On the pacific ocean with 100mph. OMG
Fountain makes a great boat
The best boat!
The newer fountains are spectacular
Love the Fountain Boats. Bigvtoys and large holes in water to pour money into.
2007 was still all fun and games. 2008 shit hit the fan
Yeah to bad cuz reggie would have been pushing forward...but damn that was a nasty time for most...what would he have done with his drive and love of power boats
Fountain or nothing!! Reggie is a Master!!!
Reggie is a character and maritime physics genius.
Well explained video. Like the longer tabs and the indicator.
After a while I realised when the camera came back to him I couldn't hear a word he was saying- I was too mesmerised by that awesome rug.
It's his real hair, he finally gave up on keeping it black though.
this is pretty ingenious
Fountain Performance Marine is Reggie's new shop. He still has plenty of secrets to,speed.
Sold Cigerette to buy Fountain nicer boat all around!
Can't argue with you there.
You rock Reggie, i like sugar on my steak too. and Fountains rule
Holy shit, I learned a lot. Great video!!!!!!!

Reggie Fountain is now 97 yrs old
I used to live in Washington, NC, about five blocks from the Pamlico River. These boats ROAR! when they are testing them on the river.
You mean Potomac River . The Pamlico is in North Carolina.
This man had to have had balls of steel to wear that hair.
Fountain is King!!...Everything else is just JUNK!
Who owns the World V Bottom Speed Record?? Hint; it ain't a Fountain.
I saw Reggie burn up the red boat at Ft Myers Beach

Fountain Powerboats needs to be owned by Reggie Fountain & his family again.
The new owners of fountain do not know what they are doing?
Hes made his money and his name. He couldn't care less. Lived in Washington my entire life. Donzi has became a joke too
dam now i have no argument !!!!!

Add 2stroke oil into the cylinders come back a day later
Oops
is he wearing a fountain sport wig?
That's for greater Dynamics planing across the water that's funny
Outerlimits are the top performers right now.
Love Fountains, but I chose a Donzi
Both cool....im on the west coast...we have dcb.... Eliminator... Nordic...some beauties. I have an eliminator i bought in 2003...rebuilt and repowered twice... Currently on the interior...
Yoooooooo that nigga HAIRCUT LMAOOOOOOOO
look at that boot black hair dye
For their revolutionary air suspension cockpit I vote for STATEMENT as the best boat with Outerlimits 2nd Skater 3rd MTI 4th and Nor-Tech 5th.
Hey did you borrow that wig ?
I'm sure we would would all love to see a video you wake boarding behind one of your two Fountains....(AHHHEMMbullshit)
@geobabalis said, "is he wearing a fountain sport wig?"

LMAO
@transplant07 Thats not a wig
Yeah they're fast but they ride rough(speaking from experience). Only rode in a Fountain once and that was it for me. I spent the next day in bed.
lol that's what i was wondering
That hair 😂😂😂😂
I only see a crash helmet.
I only see a man who has more money than you and a better life.
Its beautiful! Lol

Dude looks more like his name should be Reggie Donzi

Hope that boats better than that rug you got on your head ... and what's with the left handed controls . Oh your left handed...
70mph is fricken fast for a boat!
LMAO no it's not.

prop selection is a big deal, for those unaware.
nice HEAD HA HA
He has more money than YOU HA HA
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA
now im going to buy a 100,000 boat
All performance boaters should push for hybrid or pure electric drive systems in vehicles so as to save gasoline for us.
HipDancerGirl23 electric shmelectric crap
