    Hello there, i love your video! I started my Nursing Assistant program on March 20, 2023, and have completed the program on Friday, May 19, 2023. I am awaiting graduation, followed by my CNA license. Here in Maryland, there is another certification i can get, which is the GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant). Basically the same written and skills you do for your CNA license, you do for the GNA. I'll be working in the hospital, so i won't need the GNA because the GNA is only good for nursing home settings. Anyway, in 3 months, i will be enrolled in the PCT program. I'm looking forward to that.

    I'll be interviewing for a pct position, and I'm nervous that I won't catch on to the phlebotomy and EKG.

    • @_BriannaNicole_
      @_BriannaNicole_  3 роки тому +1

      If you aren’t sure how to do a manual bp cuff, I’m sure there isn’t someone who would be willing to show you!! But they have the automatic bp machines in a lot of hospitals, etc. so a majority of the time you don’t even have to do them manually, just put the cuff on them and push start! Your experience and BLS certification will DEFINITELY help you when applying for pct jobs, so don’t forget to include them in your resume!! And yes, we do chart the patients information and give report. We usually go over what they are in the hospital for, dietary status, if they are independent or need assistance, if they are diabetic, vitals, and a lot of other things!!

      I can definitely give you some tips! I’ve worked in a variety of different cna/pct positions. Let’s start with this question.....are you interested in working with older people, or with younger people?? I looked up a lot of my jobs on indeed (typing CNA and then the location i was interested in), to find my jobs! Also, i got my tag reel on Amazon! I love the questions, so if you have anymore, please ask lol i don’t mind at all. Congrats on getting certified!

      @@_BriannaNicole_ Younger people I want to be a Pediatric Nurse in the future and thank you so much appreciate it !

    • @_BriannaNicole_
      @_BriannaNicole_  3 роки тому +5

      @@Angel-eo5jo i know that DMC children’s, although they aren’t looking for a lot of CNA’s right now, they are looking for sitters! It’s always good to get your foot in the door, and apply when nursing assistant positions open, especially in a place that you want to work with kids. BUT, if you want to be able to use your CNA skills, i know Henry Ford and Beaumont especially are looking for Nursing Assistants! It wouldn’t be working with children, unless you get lucky and find a department that caters to them, but you’d be able to use your skills in action and then later apply for jobs in pediatrics that open up! So in your search, use terms like “Patient Care Associate” or “Nursing Assistant” instead of CNA to get the best results. I hope this helps!!! And you are so welcome!!!! ☺️

      It does make it a lot harder to become a PCA if you don’t have any kind of certification (or aren’t in nursing school) because (especially in hospitals), they need to be sure that you are able to complete the tasks. Some places offer on the job training, and some will even pay for you to get certified while working! But it all depends on where you are trying to work.
