The 4.3 V6 Vortec is a good engine, both the old school and new school. The Buick V6 was offered in 225, 231 and 252ci in the old style format then evolved into the 3800 Series engines which were mad reliable, got good mpg and lasted forever. This engine is an everlast.
I'm fairly certain there was no 232 cu in V6 Buick. AMC had a 232 Cu In inline 6 and I believe Ford had a 232 Cu In V6. Buick's V6 displaced 231 Cu In, not 232. The Vortec V6 was an absolutely amazing engine. Doesn't belong on the bad list. The Buick 231 V6 was extremely reliable. The 305 V8 was a gutless wonder but it was reliable. The diesels made from gas engines was a disaster from the word go. GM should have known better, however they allowed bean counters do their engineering. I call it as I see it. I'm not a GM fan, however if I think it was good, I'll acknowledge it. The Cadillac V8/6/4 was a disaster, the HT4100 and all it's spin-offs were disasters.
