Very helpful info. Went wingin' for the first time yesterday and your guidance made the experience "tolerable'. My first experience can be summed up like this. It was a little like surfing, a little like foiling, a little like sailing and a whole lot like survival. Keep the vids coming! Aloha
Linving in windy Netherlands. I am windsurfing for almost 45 years now. Due to a enthousiast friend I have bought a wingfoil set. I have watch all of your tutorial videos. Thank you very much, I think it will help me next week when I receive my set and I will practise on land and water. Keep going!!
Your enthusiasm is over the top contagious! Your approach really builds confidence to someone like me who is doing deep research before I invest in the necessary equipment. Your knowledge in explaining every aspect in ALL your videos that us beginners need to know and expect is incredibly beneficial! Thank you for spreading your enthusiasm!
I love watching all of your videos Damien. Your closing message on this one really hits home as my Pops passed away of a stroke suddenly at 75. He was very active and still working part time. I wish i spent more time hanging out and calling him more on the phone all the time.
Sorry for your loss friend, know he is still with you in everything you do. So enjoy the moments you are in and take nothing for granted! Much love.....
So wonderful to see a person who knows a lot of about it and he likes to share with newbies ☺️ I’ll keep in mind all of your tips… Greetings from Sardinia…
your positive energy is simply amazing, wish there were more people like you in this world...my gear is on order, can't wait to try...see you on the Stuart Causeway...
Coming from windsurfing…it looks easier, but…it’s so different that I’m sure that your tutorial out of the water it has to be essential for a good beginning. Good job and thanks man!!! 🤟
Loves you guys! Keep up the great videos. My goal for 2023 is to learn how to wing foil. I've been so inspired by all your videos and I love the positive messages as well. I just bought my first wing and still have yet to pump it up. Still need to get a board. They are on back order. So I am planning on learning how to fly the wing on land until then.
Your going to love it! Enjoy the ride... You can use a longboard as well as skis, SUP a few others as well in the mean time! FYI until that board comes. Yew! Pumped for you!
I learned this the hard way on my first day 😂 the wing was uncontrollable while I was trying to maintain the balance on the board. I immediately got out of the water and started flying the wing on the shore.
Looking at crossing over from wind surfing. Middle of winter though. Do you think its worth Learning to fly the wing on a mountain board? We have hard black sand beaches on the west coast that go for miles
Damien great video again, well done, two questions, for beginning do you think straps are not required. Being an ex-windsurfer (back in the day lol) I automatically installed them. But now I think they get in my way as that is where my feet naturally go. 2nd Question where is that beautiful beach!!
Dan, I think straps are personal preference... Can be hard at first to have them in the perfect location with the foil. Some people run just the front for learning to have something to slide into and can adjust the back foot around. Some learn with out. All what you feel comfortable with. The magical beach is Juno Beach, FL. Have a great day friend....
Absolutely awesome videos, thanks so much. So inspiring. Gotta ask though, who is the older guy with a little bit of a belly that is really good wingfoiling? What is some of his story? Background, experience etc. I find him very inspiring because that's me out there? Had both knees replaced 7 months ago still a little trouble kneeling. Thanks for covering that also in another video. Trying to find the right knee padding.
Just starting learning on land. Does it mean that there isn't enough wind if the wing falls to ground if I tilt it at all forward? It will fly if boom is pointing straight up, but when I tilt it pointing my front foot it falls.
The boom or center strut will always be somewhat pointing in the wind and over your head, you sheet in with your back hand to grab wind and pull. You will see when there is a little more wind try with 15mph or more....
Another struggle is how to go upwind. I always struggle wether it is more a topic of wing control (having the wing more in the back with a straight back arm) or a matter of board Control (pushing the back foot). Any hints welcome!

I am having such a hard time ending where I started, 6 sessions in and I still do over 500m walks of shame. Having the most fun learning, but it's so hard and humbling.
To live the best life you ever wanna live 😂🤙🏽 fukin legendary commentator thank you so stoked for these tips. First day playing with wing on the beach today
Hey Damien! Would you do a video on how to fall properly when you’re learning? It’s something that they usually teach you in wing courses and it’s really useful for keeping you and your gear safe. Thank you for what you do, keep going!!!
I'm searching UA-cam for a "wingfoiling how to fall" video and there is nothing. So second the motion to move this up your priority list. Just subscribed and hit the bell for notifications. Thanks for all the great content, looking forward to (safely) learning this new skill.
Two comments: I jumped ahead in my progression when I learned to manage stronger wind, since you can get back up quicker. So getting automatic at depowering the wing quickly in a puff was critical. I plan to make my first pupil play with the wing on the beach on one foot. Another thing was I always thought that any amount of trimming a sail past not luffing was creating drag but not power. My experience with the wing and really feeling it is that it is not true. When getting up you have to really hold that back hand in to generate power, when you’re not pumping that is.
