I think one of the reasons that Chance isn't as recognised is because how dang good they all are - he is amazing with incredible range. He is incredibly versatile and fills in around the edges to just give that rich full sound... seriously these guys are all just stunningly talented.
I agree with what Tim once said.....that they are all grateful Chance didn't join PTX. He is multi-talented and, I think, adds much more depth to the group than Chris ever did. I loved his solo at their show in Charlotte on Sunday. Waiting with bated breath for their livestream from the Ryman tonight.
I think Chance is doing the entire "bass guitar" part. It sounds just like my old Fender I used to play for my church choir! Adam is doing all kinds of incredible sounds! I've already listened to this at least 20 times & I'm still in awe every time! Chance is a superb addition to the group - he can cover so many roles whilst being able to hold a song by himself. He's also freed Tim up a lot more to use his tenor range, which I think has improved massively in the past few years. I suspect Chance gets overlooked as he doesn't 'stand out' on stage, but the band wouldn't be the same without him. This is a beautiful version of this song, so pure. Their voices blend perfectly, of course, Adam's vocal percussion is insanely good, and he and Chance hold down that drum/bass section with absolute ease. They just keep improving.
Tim has a solo album available to buy. It's all Doo-Wop and he sings all the parts. I'm a patron of his so I've heard these songs and they are amazing. At some point, he will release videos for some of them. I saw a bit of a preview for one on his interview with the Charismatic voice. It's 2 hours long and so worth watching.

You were so right, CHANCE IS WAY UNDERRATED and UNDERAPPRECIATED by the Home Fries, because as Chris used to be the glue that holds them together, that is now on Chance to fill that role. Tim has a 5 octave range. He will blow your mind, he is absolutely amazing!!! He sang tenor in high school. And, later when his voice changed he enveloped all 5 octaves. Chance was the last one to join the group. He has only been with the group for approximately 5 years. He took Chris Rupps place when he went solo. I loved CHRIS RUPP. He and Adam, his brother, founded the group. I LOVE every member of the band, but my favorite is TIM! I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THEM FOR 15 YEARS. Don't know about the chicken leg! But pure velvet closure. Love that fry onset to so many notes too. Really like how you pull focus on all the little nuances. They are just spectacular. And that perfect percussion! Tried to sing along - but kept choking up! Some get goosebumps - i just choke when something is so gobsmakingly beautiful.

Chance can really hit those low notes and a couple of times I thought those really deep booming notes sounded like when Adam "drops the bass", in his solos, but I wasn't sure if he ever utilizes that when they sing. I love Chances voice. It reminds me of that first hot, fresh cup of black coffee in the morning. nice. I could listen to Adam beat box all day long.

The Rupp brothers started singing at Lutheran colleges in Minnesota. They are more than just outstanding vocalists. They take their faith Seriously. And of course they LOVE to have fun. But you can tell that when they are singing hymns and gospel songs that they are loving singing about their faith. They are worshipping.

PTX is awesome, but not the same. They both rock this, different rhythm and pace, different harmonic choices, but this song is strong enough to allow them to each stamp it as their own and still stir deep emotions . . .Magic!
Nothing they can't do that is nothing short of amazing. I have 2 tix to the Dec 15 concert in Des Moines, Iowa, that I cannot use. (This would be my 6th concert over 5 states - HF is definitely worth the travel!) If anyone can use them, let me know.
What I love about the a capella groups is that they can cover the same songs and will sound completely different. Not better or worse, just different and then you can decide which version you like best. And there's no BS between the groups. And very little drama between the fan bases. Mostly because many of us are crossover fans. We may lean toward one group's style or sound but most of us are mature enough to see there's room for everyone. You're going to hear a difference between Home Free and PTX's version and I think you're going to appreciate them both! Another wonderful reaction! ❤
