Story of the Mask

- This is a video I made compiling video from The Mask (1994) and Son of the Mask (2005) to explain the origins of "Loki's Mask" from the movies.
If you watch it in this order, it kind of sets it up for a fight between The Mask (Jim Carrey's version) and Loki, which would be pretty cool in my opinion. - Розваги
Odin has a spear... Thor has a hammer.... and Loki, has a mask. I like it
That Mask is nothing compared to Cap's Shield . . . All those who choose to oppose his shield must yield . . . lol . . .
Update!: Thor has an axe
Z Hammer/Axe
Odin has a spear (Gungnir)... Thor has a mighty hammer (Mjolnir), an axe (Jarnbjorn), and a hammer/axe (Stormbreaker) like the other one where Beta Ray Bill uses it... and Loki, has all kinds of weapons and tools including his Scepter, Knives, and finally his ultimate tool of mischief was this... The Mask.
Update : Loki has a bow and soon maybe an axe or a dual chained blades too
Now if Marvel's Loki had those powers, The Avengers would be in deep shit.
Factss
But technically he is marvels loki, since the mask is apart of marvel.
The Mask is made by Image comics not Marvel. Marvel's Loki would get his butt kicked by The Mask.
Yes but I would like it if Marvel's Loki would use that mask he will become more crazy and powerful
Not exactly. Loki designed that mask as a divine prank to pull on the mortals. Meaning only mortals can wear it.
Bro, the boring guy just walks up to Loki and says:
" Apparently you do not agree with my theories. "
This man about to throw hands with a god.

Well, to explain the hair thing, although Big Head (the original version of "The Mask" from the Dark Horse comics) pretty much had the same head design with each wearer, which is what the Stanley Ipkiss mask character was based on. In the movie however, the mask seems to have different effects for whoever wears it. In fact, Son of the Mask wasn't the only mask to have hair, when Dorian Tyrell from the first movie put it on, he appeared with a different shaped head and a large hairdo.
But when Ipkiss put on the Mask, why didn't HE have hair on HIS head?
@@comyxcon4gaming860in my fan made third film The Mask Returns Alex Walkers wears the mask and transforms into a green faced superhero with red hair.

The mask of Loki should’ve made an appearance in the Disney franchise
What if Jim Carrey actually took on Loki instead of Jamie Kennedy?
@James Payne There probably wouldn't be any difference where both Jim Carrey and Jamie Kennedy both had powers when wearing the mask and at the end of "Son Of The Mask", Jamie Kennedy got into a battle with Loki while wearing the mask and Jim Carrey would have had the same powers and same strength as Jamie Kennedy.
And still,Loki has Daddy's issues...
Well loki did end up starting ragnerok due said daddy issues so...
Well Daddy's still criticizing him after nearly 2,000 years so that'd probably annoy anone
From what little I know of that mythology, I can see why
When I was a kid and this came out I just watched it for Loki XD I loved Alan Cumming to bad the movie was a disaster. (Son of the Mask)
Well, I guess I like shitty movies then. :)
He was the best part. And I didn't think the movie was that bad - it was pretty fun.
"Who's Loki?" Who's Loki, you ask? well, let us girls fill you in ;)
......
That transformation was pretty badass.
@TheGoodies12 Very true, I would have loved Loki coming after Ipkiss (Jim Carey) to take the mask back, and Ipkiss having to battle Loki (using the mask form) for the right to be the wearer of the mask, or something to that effect.
5:34 hold it right there!
4:20 HE DID NOOOOOOOOOOT!!! 😡
It would have been great if Stanley Ipkiss and Tina Carlyle were in the scene from 2:53-6:09 showing them both married and then it shows Mayor Tilton suing Lt. Kellaway thinking Stanley Ipkiss was the mask (which was true) and for blaming Stanley's dog Milo for carrying the mask since Mayor Tilton assumed Dorian Tyrell was the mask.
Yes what if Tina Carlyle was pregnant and Stanley Ipkiss becomes a father!
@@leonardonavarretex1967 That wouldn't matter if Tina was pregnant making Stanley the father because it would be a matter of them being in the scene from 2:53-6:09 since that scene took place in "Edge City" where the first film was while the second film mostly took place in "Fringe City" which was 257 miles southwest of "Edge City."
@@afriendofbean Right and imagine a third film called The Mask Returns and it will be took place in Tridge City which was 347 northeast of Fringe City.
@@leonardonavarretex1967 That would be hard if they made a third film because, Loki and his father Odin got the mask back and Loki actually lost his mask where it somehow ended up in "Edge City" where it got locked up in a treasure chest under the river where deep sea divers opened it and the mask got out which got into the hands of Stanley Ipkiss where at the end he got rid of it when he and Tina tossed it back into the river where it was found causing it to float away ending up in a stream in Fringe City where Loki was searching for his mask and then got it back at the end where he and Odin returned back to the God world sounding like they were leaving and not coming back. So if they made a third film, it would have to be where the mask got sucked out of the God world into the human world and got into the hands of someone else (just like it got into the hands of Stanley Ipkiss and Tim Avery) where Loki had to search again for the mask.
@@afriendofbean Well My Version Is Loki Locked His Mask on A Treasure Chest And Buried It In The Sand and Asked God to give his powers to make The Mask works on daytime too and Loki left and it will be founded by Alex Walker a new character of the third film.

Well in Norse Mythology, Films, TV Shows, Video Games and Comics, Odin is the All-Father of the gods he has a spear known as Gungnir, Thor: God of Thunder has all kinds of weapons including his mighty hammer known as Mjolnir and especially Stormbreaker the one that Beta Ray Bill uses it, Balder the Brave aka Balder: God of Light, Joy, Purity, the Summer Sun, and of course beauty has pairs of swords, and finally Loki: God of Mischief, evil, as well as of fire and he was also known as "The Trickster" he has all kinds of weapons including small blades, magic, stones, sword, and of course the Scepter
And last but not least Loki's ultimate tool of mischief was this The Mask which he created then tossed down to earth, thousands of years ago to create mayhem among the mortals' work according to legend, the wearer of the mask is imbued with the powers of Loki himself
"HE DID NOHHTTTTTT"
I won’t lie despite son of the mask being crap, I do like how it gets some little things right. Baldr is mentioned, Odin is pretty accurate with his spear and one eye, they use the word Æsir instead of Asgardian, and even some of the images in the hall do Norse myth are based on real statues and paintings based on Norse myth.
3:21 That part scared the sh*t out of me lmao
May I remind you he is also the son of Laufey the King of the Frost Giants of Jotenheim.
Actually, Laufey was a goddess and was Loki’s mother. Farbauti the Jotun (neither a giant nor a king) was Loki’s father.
(In fact, very few Jotnar were giant in size. One noteworthy exception being Ymir.)
They actually were taking about Loki and Thor before the movies and before he blew up well done
0:47 Stanley Ipkiss: I'm just looking for my mask. I GOT IT!
I’m glad Loki is in the second movie. But the sequel kind of ruined it.
I don't think Son of the Mask was bad as its reputation suggests but there are quite things that bug me about it...1. Tim's "Masked" form has hair when Stanley's in the original movie didn't. 2. The baby thing. I don't get how the baby got his powers. I understand he got them from Tim, but it's the Mask itself that gives the wearer powers - the wearer doesn't have any powers when they are unmasked.
Nathan Forester Tim had sex with the mask on when he came home from the party
@@jaisenweaver9341 ewwwww😐
Stanley didn't have hair because he said it brings innermost desires to life
The sound of the floor creaking at 5:54 is so funny!
So the baby is Loki's kid? As for the mask itself...well it has varied, especially in the cartoon. In the original comic though Stanley is supposed to be dead...I think.
I kinda wish they had like an Easter egg of Ipkis. You know the guy who had the mask last and threw it into the ocean? Jim Carrey played him in the better mask movie?
I agree. However, here are the "explanations" that the movie provides:
As far as having hair, that one is pretty much unexplainable other than maybe that he was able to control the power more, and have a say in the way it manifests.
The baby thing though, apparently he banged his wife while in the mask form. The baby was "a son born of the mask" not from Tim.
I wish though that they had kept with the Ipkiss character and kept it played by Jim Carey bc it would have been soo much better.
thanks for dropping by dropping? bye
I think people hate too much on son of the mask. I always saw both the mask and son of mask as movies about lost men, Stanley was a lost man that didn't had confidence to stand up for himself and Tim was a man afraid of responsibility, the baby is pretty much a caricature of what fathers normally see their children, in a society where the mom was normally the one to take most of the responsibility, the experience Tim has with the Baby too is a representation of father making bonds with their children, which the movies doesn't hide. And of course the dog is the jealous older brother seeking attention
4:22 Well that's true, he didn't bind him in chains, Odin bound Loki in the entrails of his own son and had a venomous snake drip it's poison over him.
Yep, he was bound there with venomous poison dripping on his face until Ragnorak.

+slasherhost I agree, that would have been great if they had Jim Carrey on this movie as Stanley Ipkiss married to Tina Carlyle while at the same time it can show Lt. Kellaway losing his job from Mayor Tilton. If Stanley Ipkiss, Tina Carlyle, and Lt. Kellaway were on the second film, they should only be on it in the first scene because the first scene showed them in Edge City where they are from while the rest of the movie took place in Fringe City which was 1000 miles from Edge City.
They did it in the animated series as well...or at least I think they did.

Why isn't the mask in the avengers?
They should do a sequence in Avengers Four, where Loki makes the mask and and Jim Carry finds it again. Start if off as " An example the Multiverse". And the mask is found in the beginning. then cut to "Avengers Three" story line; Idk Loki starts some hell on earth war between two invading realms so he can kid nap the newly born Franklin Richards and the Avengers broadcast a call to all "Meta Humans"! Have like "Dr. Strange, The Fantastic Four, the new amazing spider man, black panther, and the X Men including Phoenix force Jean Grey Decides the final out come" all show up to help the cause.
The reason "The Mask" should be involved is because it's never happened. I've seen a number of cross overs between characters in the marvel universe but never with the mask. I feel like that was an important piece of Loki's story. He had an illegitimate child threw the mask! "Seems important to the story" yet I've never seen it happen wtf Loki. Get it together.
The Mask is from DC.
Leonidas Riverson It's from Dark Horse Comics

The mask is from Dark Horse comics, not marvel. The fact that they mention Loki doesn’t mean it’s from marvel, Marvel based those characters out of real Norse mythology.

Would've been better if Loki from the Thor movies was in son of the mask
Jim Carrey has a very slender body and a bit of asian look, no offence but i do think someone who will be taking over his role as the wearer of the loki mask need to be slender and got asian look as well, well atleast i'm the only one thinking that way because someone need to look weak and wimpy to use the mask, son of the mask would've oversell the mask if the storyline is a bit interesting and an actor with the above mentioned characteristics is used

Well, he was also in the commercial of Clear Eyes.
I guess Stanley said the right thing from 0:48-0:55 lying that he was looking for his mask because if he said the truth thinking he saw someone drowning and he jumped into the river to help, the police would think he killed him.

@@leonardonavarretex1967 Yes that's true. I guess if he didn't say that the mask was museum property and/or comment about anything about Loki breaking the fake mask out of the glass case he (Dr. Neumann) wouldn't have had his face stolen away from his body into the broken case because later in the movie Loki found an authentic mask of his in a shop and broke it and all the shopkeeper told him was to pay for it but didn't comment like it belongs to the shop like Dr. Neumann commented here that the fake mask in the museum belongs in the museum which is why Loki stole Dr. Neumann's face and put it in the glass case. It would have been great if there was an extra scene after the end credits of Dr. Neumann's face returning to his body because of Loki and Odin returning back to the God world and once his face returns to his body, Dr. Neumann says something like, "I think it's time to retire from my job since I have had enough about masks especially the time when Stanley Ipkiss came to my office."
