  • Join us for this Canadian Rockies travel guide as we explore one of Canada's most beautiful places to visit. The big reason we took a road trip from Ontario to Alberta and British Columbia was to see the Rocky Mountains. For Audrey's parents, especially her Dad, it has been a dream to see this beautiful part of Canada for decades. With a chance to finally do it we were all thrilled to visit the Canadian Rockies together as a family with Togo the German Shepherd. The following is everywhere we visited in and around the Canadian Rockies including most of our time spent in Banff National Park and Kootenay National Park in the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia:
    1) Getting our park passes at Banff National Park for the whole family
    2) Exploring the town of Banff including hiking the Bow River Trail and the Banff Springs Hotel
    3) Visiting the nearby town of Canmore to walk along Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk Trail
    4) Visiting Cascade Ponds where Audrey's sister got married
    5) Exploring Lake Minnewanka where you can hike, kayak or canoe
    6) Driving through Kootenay Provincial Park
    7) Hiking to visit the Paint Pots to visit the pools
    8) Visiting the incredibly beautiful Lake Moraine
    9) Visiting world famous Lake Louise
    10) Hiking the Old Coach Trail in between Radium Hot Springs and Dry Gulch
    11) Relaxing at Windermere Lake
    12) Checking out the famous Continental Divide
    13) Visiting Kananaskis Country to visit Upper Kananaskis Lake and Lower Kananaskis Lake

Canadian Rockies Travel Guide | Canada's Most Beautiful Place To Visit Video Transcript:
Welcome to the Canadian Rockies! In the last video we showed you the 4-and-a-half day car journey from Ontario, but now it’s time to jump into the sightseeing.
We had 1 full week in the Rockies, splitting our time between both Alberta and British Columbia, and all of our days were spent hiking in woods, visiting the lakes, and just enjoying being surrounded by nature.
This was a family road trip with our trusty family dog Togo in tow, so we’re going to be sharing with you our adventure in what may well be the most beautiful part of Canada!
The Bow River trail is just a few steps from downtown Banff and it follows the riverside.
From there, we walked over to the Banff Springs Hotel. This historic hotel opened up in 1888 it’s one of Canada's grand railway hotels built by the Canadian Pacific Railway. We continued over to Canmore.
From there, we drove over to Lake Minnewanka, which has more of a bluer hue in comparison to the other turquoise and emerald lakes in the Rockies. Lake Minnewanka is a glacial lake 21 kilometres in length, making it the 2nd longest lake in the Rockies. It’s a hub for water activity like boat cruises, kayaking, canoeing, and well, it’s beautiful.
Later that day we drove to Moraine Lake, which is another glacially fed lake. It has a brilliant blue-green colour due to light refracting off the rock sediments, and like most destinations in the Rockies, this one was another stunner.
The views from the shore of Lake Louise were nothing short of stunning, we had Victoria Glacier perfectly framed by mountains on either side, and then the brilliant glacial waters with dotted with red canoes.
Our final destination in the Rockies was Kananaskis Country where we visited Lower Kananaskis Lake and Upper Kananaskis Lake.
The real highlight was finally spotting some wildlife just as we were leaving for the day.
And that’s a wrap for our Rockies Road Trip! We still have lots left to see of our home country, but we can honestly say this is one of the most beautiful destinations in all of Canada.
We hope you guys got a few ideas of places to visit on your trip.
Wishing you happy travels and see you next time!
This is part of our Travel in Canada video series showcasing Canadian food, Canadian culture and Canadian cuisine.

You travel to Alberta and skip everything but Banff? What about the Kananaskis, Waterton National Park, the Badlands, Icefield parkway, Wood Buffalo National Park, etc?
The boardwalk in Canmore follows Policeman's creek BTW.

Cutting down Trees 🌲🌲🌲🌲around are world from forests 🌳 to woodlands 🌳are releasing Toxins that the trees 🌲 have collect for years back into the Atmosphere and logging is cutting far quicker than planting around the world and adult trees 🌲 that take 45 years to grow store more toxins and carbon than just new planted trees does .
If the logging continues to carry on then the weathers around are world will become a lot hotter and very aggressive storms will become life threatening for humans just because humans can’t stop eating massive amounts meat 🥩 just because jobs and money are more important than life itself .

Audrey, when your dad was saying how beautiful the place was, I thought I read your mind. I was so pleased your kind, respect for him, allowed him to 'say his peace' without him feeling cut off. You and Sam are beautiful kids. Its not easy to be with ageing parents, (im one myself) but now that I find myself caretaking for my 'very elderly' parents, Im so glad I can look back on times like these, and remember them with fondness, love and grace...

Thanks for your reply. Waterton Lakes National Park is a really beautiful place. Its very near the Montana border and you can even take a boat from Alberta into Montana. It is about 3 hours from Calgary. Lots of wildlife and can even see bears on a good day. Drumheller is also a very nice trip. Dinasaur Capital of the world. You can also go to the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology which is really interesting. Its a very nice prairie drive from Calgary. Best to do during the week as it is a very busy place on the weekends.

I'm dreaming to have journey at Rocky Mountain to admire Banff and Jasper National Park. It will be my first time , so I need some advise. Having plan to stay at Calgary to reach Banff is one option. But how to manage the time to visit the far spot from Calgary such as Jasper, Johnston canyon, etc ? 5 hours driving from Calgary to Jasper is wasting time that we can spend better to stop enjoying scenery and trail. Do I have better to stay at some location near the interesting spot? Is there easy to find available hotel ?

    • @samuelandaudrey
      @samuelandaudrey  5 років тому +2

That is exciting to hear! I'd consider Cochrane for visiting the Banff area and then you can actually stay right in Jasper when you head up north. Take a look at airbnb. We found some incredible value with apartments and houses on this trip.

Before many settlers came to the west, the natives populated the places shown in this breathtaking video. Jasper was considered so beautiful by them that it was never travelled . Till this day Jaspers beauty hasnt diminished, and the area is sacred to not only FirstNations but many others. I hope to see more of your adventures soon-thanks eh.

    • @carboncomplex
      @carboncomplex 6 років тому +2

In mid October at lower elevation like in the city of Banff it will be cool but not to bad - range from near freezing to 15c but at higher elevation it may be much colder and heavy snow can start at any time - this can be a good time to visit to avoid the crowds but some attractions at higher elevation could be affected by early winter storms.
