No fireflies in southern California. But I miss Woolworths & Grant's & Newberrys 5 & dime stores so much!!! One of my best memories ever was one day... I was in 4th grade. My mom❤ said "stay home from school and let's have some fun." She took me to Newberrys little restaurant and we had a scoop of cottage cheese on a canned pineapple ring with a cherry on top and iced tea. I was SOOOOOO happy! Then she took me to a local amusement park called Knotts Berry Farm (back when you didn't have to pay for admission) & I rode the merry go round over & over. I thought I was in heaven! She & I then went to a local market & did the weekly grocery shopping while I pushed the cart. & on the way out she gave me a dime to buy an ice cream sandwich. Doesn't get any better than that! Simple pleasures but I'll never forget that day!!
We have a small yard but have four raised beds we garden in each year. As it is still cold here (38 high today), we cannot plant anything yet but peas. We cannot afford to vacation as we are trying to become debt-free, but we do have a beautiful city park, fish hatchery, city campground, several parks and the beautiful Black Hills. We usually grab some food and go to one of these locations for the day. When we get home, we sit on our back patio or front deck in a glider and watch the stars go by. Sometimes we don't even have to put on a jacket! Ha!
I love these ideas for old-time simple springtime activities. It's been important to me as a grandma to introduce old-fashioned fun to my grandchildren. I'm blessed to have six ranging from ages 12 to 2 months and number 7 is on the way in the fall. In the spring, we spend time blowing bubbles, playing kickball, and with the hula hoops and jump ropes. They go into the woods on our property and build forts. These things are so special to them and I know we are making memories and it doesn't cost us a dime.
Any time the grandchildren come, we get out the sidewalk chalk and bubbles! What fun and what "amazing art" we have on our carport and sidewalk....until we clean the slate for the next visit.
I live where we can't "hang out", but i do hang most thins on portable racks and also use my shower rod to use hangers for shirts etc. It saves on utilities.
I have fond memories of family picnics when I was growing up❤️. Nothing tasted as good as the squash or tea that came out of that flask. There were always hard boiled eggs and a little salt, tomatoes and bread and butter with maybe a little home made cake. Nothing fancy but oh so yummy.
The weather is finally warming up here in Ohio! It was up to 80° yesterday and I had a marvelous day with two ladies I have been friends with since grade school over 60 years ago. We went on a 2 mile hike in the Metro park and then back to my friend Mary Jo‘s house for a delicious lunch. Then we sat and talked for hours about our childhood memories, our children and grandchildren, and our plans for the summer. What an incredible gift it is to have lifelong friends! I love packing a picnic lunch for my granddaughters and going to the local playground and park. Also, planning on picking up a makings for s’more’s and building a fire in my fire pit with all of the branches that I have been gathering from my yard after the winter storms. We’ll probably roast some hotdogs over the fire too. These kind of memories are priceless and some thing. I hope they’ll tell their children about someday. I always remember the saying I learned back in Girl Scouts. Make new friends but keep the old! One is silver and the other gold! Even though we’ve never met in person, I feel like you and Paul are among my new friends!

I have been hanging clothes outside my entire life as well as my mother started it (she loved the smell of sheets from the line). In the wintertime I will occasionally hang sheets outside. In the wintertime I hang the clothes up in the basement on wooden racks and a clothesline strung between pipes. In the last 15 years, I used my dryer twice and that was because some friends' dryer in their apartment complex broke and they used my washer and dryer. Air drying your clothes is better for your clothes, better for the environment as well as I am too cheap to pay for hot air. For all these years, I just thought I was just cheap. Little did I know I am just a "Frugal Money Saver".
I gave up online shopping for Lent, and when I looked back this week, what we saved just by not shopping on Amazon was HUGE!! So, we are going to continue the ban on online shopping unless we cannot get it locally, like medical supplies. I even took shopping apps like amazon off my phone so the temptation is gone, Thanks Emmy and Paul for setting such a good example and sharing your frugal lives!
We love to have fire and gather around talk, laugh and roast marshmallows and hot dogs. Sometimes we put potatoes in foil and cook them in the coals. Such lovely memories. We lost my husband 4 years ago on April 21 and we did this every year❤️
Memories can still be made even though your husband is absent. If you are physically able to do so,fires, roasted hot dogs, melted marshmallows and outdoor gatherings are all part of what memories are made up of. Sorry for your loss, life still rolls on!❤
Just an idea to do before going garage sales/rummage sales, shopping, etc.-- pack a drinks, snacks, and/or picnic to have something when you are out. Also when you go on day trips, short road trips, etc.
I love hanging clothes on the line...always have. When my children were babies, their cloth diapers were so fun to hang to dry. What a savings both choices were cloth diapers and drying on the line. Picnics were a regular when my children were young. The kids loved it. My adult son & I cooked on the grill this past week. Then, we rocked in the rockers around the firepit outside in the dark, and as we call it, talked & talked till we "solved all the worlds problems. "...lol
I look forward to having a small garden, going to the park for a picnic and free concerts, barbecues with friends, movies in the park, taking walks in my neighborhood. and eating stir fry’s, wraps, salads, peaches, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe.
Thanks for a great video! Its so great to see your happy face, listen to your positivity and smart tlps...to enjoy the small things makes the world so much easier to live in! Greetings from Sweden🇸🇪🥰
My 7 year old granddaughter and I enjoy going to the parks, having a picnic, and then sometimes go walking on a trail. Sometimes, she enjoys the playground equipment at the park as I watch.
With the heatwave that we will certainly have we (me and the kids) will spend as much time on the beach as we can. We leave 20 mins away from the seaside, and we might do the "park and ride" which should be cheaper than paying for the car park. We will have snack and possibly picnic dinner there. The kids love that, it is like going on holiday every day only cheaper. 🙂
I agree that we should use up veggies and meat we have just hanging around that needs to be used up. This week I made chicken soup from some cooked chicken that I had frozen. I added some carrots and celery that were getting old. I used chicken broth that I made from chicken carcass and veggie peelings and I was going to add some barely but I remembered that I had some great northern beans in the refrigerator that needed to be used up. It was delicious. And I have some leftovers for lunch. We had it with a nice salad. Thanks for the tips about butchers at the grocery store. We'll be asking about cutting up whole chickens on sale for sure! Congrats, Julie!
Such a lovely video Emmy and Paul. Love the fact that you dry laundry outdoors when you can. Loved seeing the picture of that old fashioned decorated cake.....WOW! How lovely that you and Paul enjoy your garden and you sit out in it often and enjoy watching the fireflies! A simple thing my husband and I enjoy doing when the weather is warmer, is taking a dinner of baked potatoes, salad, cheese and some fruit and a sweet treat and something to drink and going to our local park which is a very short walk from our home. We sit in the park and enjoy our dinner and, if we want to, we can also watch the local cricket team play cricket and it costs us nothing. We also go for a walk in the park before returning home. It's a lovely thing to do and we feel so blessed to live close to a lovely big park. Thank you for all your lovely videos that give me so much joy and are just a blessing. I thank God for you both. Have a wonderful weekend. Sending lots of love your way and may God bless you. ❤
I'm in a townhouse with an HOA and we are not allowed to hang laundry outside, not even on the deck. 😢 At least I have room in the kitchen to hang a few items that I don't want in the dryer.
Springtime hiking picnics is how my husband and I had our first dates for about 6 months that's when I knew he was a keeper lol😊 I miss not having more time to for picnics there days
One of my favorite spring time activity is taking the free ferry to IKEA in NYC. It travels past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and South Street Seaport and let's u off at the Brooklyn Ikea. We then go have a really inexpensive lunch at their facility browse around +maybe get a plant or inexpensive dish towels and comeback the same way. It's such a neat way to get out of midtown and be on the water. I love it❤❤❤
We want to plant an herb container garden this year,it will be our first time at this. We want to ride our bicycles on a smooth bicycle route,we love picnics and do those often when the weather cooperates. We want to go camping in our little rv in a campground not too far from where we live. We did plant 3 fruit trees this year all ready. 2 apple and 1 peach tree. I pray this coldness that we will be experiencing will not damage our new trees. I think we may loose some of our peach blossoms as the warm days have forced the blooms to open. We are forcasted to get below freezing temperatures. All we can do is hope and pray! I love your cheery tablecloth full of flowers, beautiful! The chicken on the nest that is setting on your counter,i remember my Mom having one just like it. Mom used to put jelly beans in it.Wonderful memories as my Mom is no longer with us,thank you! Oh and by the way,we were shopping at a thrift store and came across an aggravation game that we purchased for cheap to share with the grandkids when they come to visit. Looking forward to the fun!
My husband and I put in a spring garden this year. Potatoes, onions and lettuce are planted as well as carrots and cucumbers. We also planted blueberry bushes so we are looking forward to harvesting lots of good vegetables and fruit. Tomatoes can't be planted until May but last year we harvested over 1000 tomatoes. Hoping for a bountiful garden this year. We take in the live music shows every Friday at the amphitheater near where we live. They will be starting in May, we take our lawn chairs, a picnic basket with goodies and listen to great music, all for free. The shows go through October!
We do lots of small museums for day trips. Cars, historic homes, americana are favorites. We pack lunch and snacks. Groupon is a great place to find bargain priced activities.
Our goal is to get our bikes out and get some bike rides in. I like the idea of a picnic as well. As kids growing up, we used to have picnics at the zoo. Great idea for the grandchildren.
Hi Emmy and Paul! I’m newly retired and have a big list of nearby scenic areas I can see on a day trip. Now I can go midweek instead of fighting weekend crowds. Take a picnic, get some hiking/walking in, enjoy the fresh air. I’m only about 90 minutes from Yosemite National Park in one direction, Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Park in the other direction. And I’m expanding my container garden this year to more than just tomatoes and peppers. I’m really excited for this spring!
In the summer I often do picnics for lunch or dinner outside by the river in my city or in one of the many parks or at the university I work at. It’s always fun. There are so many free outdoor events around my city too so I’m lucky in that vein. Concerts, plays, movies, you name it. It’s really great. I also love riding my bike more and use it more than the car in the summer to do errands or fun things. It makes me feel like a kid. I even have removable panniers for the side so I can carry groceries or other items in them when doing errands. Saves on gas and I get good exercise.
When you brought up your memories of "picnics" it reminded me of when we were kids in the summer, we would pack a picnic and with our wagon or bicycles and would go into our orchard and enjoy 😂... Life was simpler and carefree in the country then....not worrying about abductions and such. We watched our 30+ yr old boys like hawks as we do our little grandsons....😢sad Frugal summer project is to enjoy the outdoors...
I love to hang the washing out on my whirlygig! We are working on tidying the garden this spring, and have paid for our council to collect all the bits we can't compost easily, such as big branches. Sometimes we take a flask of tea and a snack and just head out onto the moors in the car. It's lovely to blow the cobwebs away 😊
That is what we are planning to do this summer is to take mini-trips around the state we live in. Sight see for free or low cost things. Just to get away from screen time and enjoy family time.
I have been hanging quite a few loads of laundry on the line already this year! We have had some lovely warm breezy days here on the south coast of the UK! It has been so nice to get the windows open and let the fresh air in and to listen to the birds singing in the garden!
Our Woolworth's counter had the best, hottest, crispiest french fries. We would split an order of fries and order Cokes if we had a little extra money.
Picnics and day trips are so much fun! We take a flask of coffee and some food and go to a local beauty spot and just look at the view over the countryside! Day trips are so much easier than going away as we can come home to our own bed and not have to worry about taking the cat to a cattery!
Even though I can't walk right now due to an unexpected knee surgery I am thrilled that I managed to find someone in our local paper to very-reasonably till my garden and also plant the fruit trees I ordered last fall. I should be able to carefully walk in three more weeks so will then be able to plant. God is good!
I have an electric bike and like to go to different towns and explore, so fun. Video had such great ideas to look forward to. We are in the middle of a huge snow storm at the moment! I have some potato soup cooking in the crock pot, wish you could come share a bowl!
I love cleaning and freshening up the nets and curtains. I usually check for and damage like fraying or holes that I can mend. Check for mould and make sure all the windows are washed and cleaned. The only difference this time is I'm shopping secondhand as I've not long moved and I need to try and stick to budget. I'm also looking a reduced and end of line nets for my sized windows. I must say, I am enjoying the creativity that this brings. Congratulations to the winner 🏆 As usual, a lovely video and that soup looks scrumptious 😊 Blessings and hugs to you all Love from leicester England xx
Several years back I bought a used croquet set too. One year I even got brave and bought a hula hoop from the dollar store. It only took two tries and I had that thing going lol. Homemade popsicles are a treat without all the sugar. Maybe homemade marshmallows to make s’mores with over the fire pit. We don’t have fireflies in our state 😢 Even a bike ride to a park for a picnic. Badminton is also fun. Even laying on a blanket looking for animals and such in the clouds! So many options!
I love having Barbecues and cooking outside because I can enjoy the outdoors and I don't heat up my kitchen. Also I love hanging clothes outside. I had an apartment where I only had a washer. I would hand my clothes outside event in the winter and they would dry even it the temperature was below 32 degrees. My clothes would be stiff when I took them off the line and would only be barely damp, mostly my blue jeans though. Everything else seemed to dry fine. I look forward in retirement to being able to incorporate more practices for the past. Always thanks for the all the info you impart and share.
My mom alway hung out our clothes. I would love a clothes line but my husband doesn't want one. :( I like to make sun tea in the summer time. I've never wanted to garden; last year we grew some cucumber in a planter box and had so much fun watching for them to grow. This year we'll be doing mini cucumbers again and cherry tomatoes in containers. Thank you for your channel.
One of my dear friends quilted a blanket for my family to take to the cemetery on picnics. This was not long after we buried our 2nd and 3rd children and we do use her quilt for that.
Many thanks for a terrific video. Thanks Paul for trying the rose/potato rooting. I used to enjoy hanging items outside so thrifty. Great tips and memories. Waving to you from Michigan, Sue
My dear aunt who has since passed away always hung her clothes on her clothes line in Florida. She always turned her "house dresses" inside out so they wouldn't fade. My forsythia looks so yellow and pretty. I like mine to go a little wild but we do trim them in the summer. The hen on your counter top reminds me of the tiny one my mom had that she kept her saccharin sweetner. My local Shop Rite grocery store butchers are fantastic. They will do all that you said. Our deck is now set up perfectly for us we will be hanging out there reading our books. I got a zero gravity lounge chair for $35 at the end of the fall last year. I will not let hubby buy flower baskets until Memorial Day. Maybe he can grow some from seed to save money.
It snowed again today. I can't wait to get out into the garden 😭. It was relatively warm earlier in the week and it was nice to let the kids play out there and draw on the side walk. I was so glad I bought tons of chalk last year. We love to do you pick places as a family. So much fun. Kites are a little difficult in our area, because the wind can be pretty unpredictable and it's pretty strong. There's a joke that this area was settled because people stopped to camp and said they'd continue their travel when the wind stops
I'm too frugal not to use my tomato seeds, so I blitz my tomatoes in the food processor or blender until the seeds are just part of the liquid. Better in my stomach than in my compost bin. Yum.
I hang my clothes out year round. Except for towels. We don't have the AC on we have the door open. I also have black out curtains in the kitchen and living room. The kind the holds the heat in the house in winter and blocks the sun in summer. I am growing lettuce and spinach in my front yard. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
I've been hanging clothes out to dry all week, love the smell of sunshine!! We love taking the pups on walks in the woods because it's cooler and they love it. We normally take a lunch when we get out and about enjoying the day. Great ideas as always Emmy and Paul!!
Emmy and Paul, you are both so talented!. Emmys ability to make a wonderful meal out of scraps and Pauls ability to grow the rose are amazing. We are spending a frugal spring weekend with some of our grandkids. They are enjoying playing outside on swings and with bubbles. The grand finale was a free science show in our area that they loved! There are many free activities you can do with kids, you just have to do some looking for them! Happy Spring!😊
Warmer weather means spending time outside.. Days are longer so morning walks can start just before sunrise...1-2 hr walk...then home to brew coffee and begin the day!
Great job Paul on the Rose bush! My grandma used to start roses... She'd take cuttings and just put them in the ground with a jar over top. It took time but we ended up having so many rose bushes! She also wintered over geraniums in the attic every year... She'd water them maybe once a month. They never died! Paul... Get cuttings again once that lonely wild rose by the road gets larger and try grandma's truck. Those wild roses make rose hips you can pick at years end and make healthy wonderful things with!
How did I not find your channel earlier!?? Your story is much like mine -- I'm 56 and I retired early, and after 30 years of income, even with a pension, I'm working to save wherever I can. I started watching you with your WWII cooking, that's been so helpful because I've never had time to learn to cook like this. Anyway, I feel like I've uncovered a gem, thanks for being here! 💚
Isn’t it the best feeling in the world when you get into your bed that’s been line dried, there’s no amount of fabric conditioner that can match the smell and the feeling you get. Great Video sending blessings from Scotland 🏴
@Frugal Money Saver we live in Wales and are surrounded by woods. It grows near water or some where damp. You pick the leaves not the bulb chop it and freeze it. The leaves are similar to lily's so you have to be careful. You always know there is a patch of garlic because it smells so strong of garlic. As long as you have the smell you know it's safe. Walking through the woods this year makes me very hungry.
Masterpiece was my favorite board game!! It was my first introduction to famous works of art. I’ll never forget when my cousins, aunt and uncle would come over to visit. The adults would play cards in the kitchen, while we kids played The Masterpiece game, along with the Honey West game on the living room floor. Thank you for reviving that wonderful memory!
I loved this video and all the fun suggestions! I am going hiking in a few weeks - totally free entertainment and exercise. Also, I noticed the stores are selling kites this spring. I picked one up and now I'm on the hunt for a good ball field to fly it in. So fun on a windy day! Thanks as always and God bless! Miko from Maryland
I plan on doing a beautiful vegetable garden this year. I haven’t done it for about four years. With prices the way they are. I think it’ll be a great economical and fun way to have fresh produce and save money at the same time! Thank you for this channel. I love it. Keep frugal money saver going please! Take care and God bless!🙏🇺🇸
Loved this weeks suggestions, Spring has been here in south east Texas for a while, so my container garden is well underway, have already harvested a few strawberries, talk about a taste of spring, your story about the picnic blanket reminded me of the one my grandmother made from her son's and husband's worn out overalls. What makes it so great is that is heavy so even on windy days it stays put. One no cost spring activity I do is to sit on the front porch with my dog and just enjoy the weather and my neighbors who are out walking.

I had my 10th birthday party at Knott's Berry Farm 58 years ago. It was SO fun! It's a day I will never forget.
Lisa that day sounds like perfection to me! What a sweet precious memory!!
My husband and I love to take care of our chickens at night together and then we'll walk around the yard and just talk
That sounds so lovely!
My kids have been loving doing bubbles, chalk, and running through the sprinkler on the warmer days.
Oh how fun!
Idea.. plant a spaghetti garden... Tomatoes, onions, parsley, etc.
Great idea!

Keeping our windows open and the air conditioning off for as long as possible!
Great idea!
My late father in law took green tomatoes at the end of the season, sliced, floured, seasoned & fried them, the best tasting!
I have never tried fried green tomatoes! I hear they are wonderful!
I love fried green tomatoes
@@FrugalMoneySaver You use corn meal and a little bit of flour to hold them together well. They are so good.
Any time the grandchildren come, we get out the sidewalk chalk and bubbles! What fun and what "amazing art" we have on our carport and sidewalk....until we clean the slate for the next visit.
Yes, it's such creative play too!
I live where we can't "hang out", but i do hang most thins on portable racks and also use my shower rod to use hangers for shirts etc. It saves on utilities.
We do the same in the winter!
We’re still trying to get over the flu but my husband just built me a clothes line yesterday.. I am in Heaven
Oh Terri I hope you all feel better soon!
@@FrugalMoneySaver Ty so much and you both have a lovely weekend 💗
I'm so glad I'm not the only one excited about using the clothesline 😊
Nope...me too lol!
I did this last week. Washed and hung all the bedding. Snells wonderful!!
Love to get into bed at nite with sheets that were hung on the line…smells sooooo good
I have been using it since January and very rarely our dryer
I have fond memories of family picnics when I was growing up❤️. Nothing tasted as good as the squash or tea that came out of that flask. There were always hard boiled eggs and a little salt, tomatoes and bread and butter with maybe a little home made cake. Nothing fancy but oh so yummy.

Hev, yes! the simple foods always taste better outdoors!

I love to go walking at our local fish hatchery. It is shaded and free. Feeding the fish is lots of fun.
Oh that must be lovely!
I want to head outside with my watercolor paints and let nature inspire me.
Sounds wonderful!
Does anyone else remember the vanilla ice cream floats made with grape juice or grape soda being called Purple Cows? Yum!!!!!
Yes!! So fun!
Yes,i remember purple cows, rootbeer floats, orange cream sickle float and raspberry sherbet with 7up.

I even took shopping apps like amazon off my phone so the temptation is gone, Thanks Emmy and Paul for setting such a good example and sharing your frugal lives!
YES!!! How wonderful! So proud of you!! Thanks for sharing that Danielle!
I love drying clothes outside and having a vegetable garden every year. For special fun, I would like to do more daytrips and enjoy time star gazing.
Sounds so wonderful!
We love to have fire and gather around talk, laugh and roast marshmallows and hot dogs. Sometimes we put potatoes in foil and cook them in the coals. Such lovely memories. We lost my husband 4 years ago on April 21 and we did this every year❤️
Oh I am so sorry for your loss...
Memories can still be made even though your husband is absent. If you are physically able to do so,fires, roasted hot dogs, melted marshmallows and outdoor gatherings are all part of what memories are made up of. Sorry for your loss, life still rolls on!❤
I live in an apartment, so I'm going to do some planting
That's great Pat!
Just an idea to do before going garage sales/rummage sales, shopping, etc.-- pack a drinks, snacks, and/or picnic to have something when you are out. Also when you go on day trips, short road trips, etc.
Always! great tip!
I sit on my porch and listen to the frogs talk to each other and enjoy the nights. I enjoy the lightening bugs when they come out.
We can hear the frogs at the Little House! So comforting!
@@FrugalMoneySaver ❤️
I love hanging clothes on the line...always have. When my children were babies, their cloth diapers were so fun to hang to dry. What a savings both choices were cloth diapers and drying on the line.
Picnics were a regular when my children were young. The kids loved it.
My adult son & I cooked on the grill this past week. Then, we rocked in the rockers around the firepit outside in the dark, and as we call it, talked & talked till we "solved all the worlds problems. "...lol
Sounds absolutely beautiful
R N, how much did I love this comment! Talking just talking...the best!
I look forward to having a small garden, going to the park for a picnic and free concerts, barbecues with friends, movies in the park, taking walks in my neighborhood. and eating stir fry’s, wraps, salads, peaches, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe.
Sounds so wonderful Virginia!
Thanks for a great video! Its so great to see your happy face, listen to your positivity and smart tlps...to enjoy the small things makes the world so much easier to live in! Greetings from Sweden🇸🇪🥰
Thank you so much! Such truth about enjoying the little things!
Yes, I made sure I got my clothes line is the biggest one at HOME Depot. They go fast. My dryer broke and no money to fix it. l had to get it.
My 7 year old granddaughter and I enjoy going to the parks, having a picnic, and then sometimes go walking on a trail. Sometimes, she enjoys the playground equipment at the park as I watch.
So much fun!!
When you showed the picture of that circus cake, I thought I've seen that before. Yup - I have the BHG Holiday Cookbook. Old cookbooks are the best!
Aren't they though?!
Oh that sounds so wonderful!!
Yes, I never thought to have them cut them up before! Thanks for being here Barbara!
Yvonne love your meal idea for the park! Thank you as always for all the encouragement and support you give us! God Bless you as well! thank you!
You know what
It's ridiculous that hanging laundry outside is banned in so many places!! 😡
That is so sad...
Really I didn't know that but live in England.
Did not know this! That’s crazy. Luckily it’s not banned where I live but this is ridiculous
I'm in a townhouse with an HOA and we are not allowed to hang laundry outside, not even on the deck. 😢 At least I have room in the kitchen to hang a few items that I don't want in the dryer.
@@S_H9260same. I hate HOA’s.
Yes, have the kite ready as well as sidewalk chalk for the grandkids . Grandma and grandpa will be there playing!
Love that so much!
Springtime hiking picnics is how my husband and I had our first dates for about 6 months that's when I knew he was a keeper lol😊 I miss not having more time to for picnics there days
Love that! Paul used to take me on picnics a lot too!
I love it❤❤❤
Oh my gosh how fun! I never knew this could be done!
Where is the starting point for that Ikea Ferry? Next time I'm in NYC I will try it. I visit Ikeas all over the world.
How lovely 🤩!😊
They have 3 location p/u in Manhattan 39th and 11th is were I pick it up from every 1hr and 20min on the weekends they make about 5 to 6 trips a day
We want to plant an herb container garden this year,it will be our first time at this.
Wonderful comment Lisa! Thank you! Aggravation is such a fun game!
1,000 tomatoes! AMAZING!
This all sounds fantastic!😊 Especially like that you sit and have a picnic in your garden while listening to the music!😊👏👏👏
My friends and I go to one of the city's parks with sandwiches and some fruit and have a picnic. We also bring a couple of picnic blankets.
Love that Cheryl! So fun!
We do lots of small museums for day trips. Cars, historic homes, americana are favorites. We pack lunch and snacks. Groupon is a great place to find bargain priced activities.
Great idea! I always forget about them!
Our goal is to get our bikes out and get some bike rides in. I like the idea of a picnic as well. As kids growing up, we used to have picnics at the zoo. Great idea for the grandchildren.
Yes, just simple fun!
We regularly pack a picnic lunch for every road trip, including errands, because we live rurally, so all errands are 1-4 hours.😊
That is so smart and money saving!
Absolutely poured with rain ALL day today in the UK !!
Oh no! Hope you get a little sun today!
Happy retirement! It's wonderful to wake up every morning at your own time and do what your heart desires. Enjoy the rest of your life!
Happy Retirement Kat! So true! We get to enjoy weekday activities once we are retired!
So true! Free events are everywhere if we just look! Thanks Gretchen!
Want to grow a small garden. I did it before in a big way but moved. It's time to grow something.
It's so rewarding!
When you brought up your memories of "picnics" it reminded me of when we were kids in the summer, we would pack a picnic and with our wagon or bicycles and would go into our orchard and enjoy 😂...
Life was simpler and carefree in the country then....not worrying about abductions and such. We watched our 30+ yr old boys like hawks as we do our little grandsons....😢sad
Frugal summer project is to enjoy the outdoors...
Of course, you always use caution and diligence with children.
Sounds wonderful!
That is what we are planning to do this summer is to take mini-trips around the state we live in. Sight see for free or low cost things. Just to get away from screen time and enjoy family time.
Yes, that's exactly what we are thinking!
Frugal = Freedom ❤❤❤
Couldn't have said it better Wanda!
I have been hanging quite a few loads of laundry on the line already this year!
We have had some lovely warm breezy days here on the south coast of the UK!
It has been so nice to get the windows open and let the fresh air in and to listen to the birds singing in the garden!
Oh how I missed the fresh air in the house!
Beautiful tablecloth!
Thank you! 😊
I remember Woolworths and Grants!
Such fun nostalgic stores!
I want to get my vegetable garden planted this spring ❤.
Us too Julie!
I remember going to Woolworth store with my Mom and Auntie and us kids. So much fun 🤗💞
Wasn't it though!
Our Woolworth's counter had the best, hottest, crispiest french fries. We would split an order of fries and order Cokes if we had a little extra money.
I love all your ideas.
I like watching the birds.
They are so cheery and I love to see them.
Thank you for sharing.
We love the birds as well! So comforting to watch!
Picnics and day trips are so much fun!
We take a flask of coffee and some food and go to a local beauty spot and just look at the view over the countryside!
Day trips are so much easier than going away as we can come home to our own bed and not have to worry about taking the cat to a cattery!
I agree...nothing better than your own bed!
We have a Bacci set and a set of horseshoes that we play in the summer. My grandson loves to come over and play.
We love Bacci!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
You as well Rebecca, thank you!
Kudos to Paul on the rose bush! Thanks for more great ideas…..congrats to Julie on winning the cookbook 🤗
Thanks so much Carolyn!
Even though I can't walk right now due to an unexpected knee surgery I am thrilled that I managed to find someone in our local paper to very-reasonably till my garden and also plant the fruit trees I ordered last fall. I should be able to carefully walk in three more weeks so will then be able to plant. God is good!
Oh we will pray for a quick and total healing!!
Congratulations Julie!
I have an electric bike and like to go to different towns and explore, so fun. Video had such great ideas to look forward to. We are in the middle of a huge snow storm at the moment! I have some potato soup cooking in the crock pot, wish you could come share a bowl!
That's so kind, that would be so fun to share a meal!
Congratulations to the winner 🏆
As usual, a lovely video and that soup looks scrumptious 😊
Blessings and hugs to you all
Love from leicester England xx
Hope you have a wonderful summer, Karen.
I think you said it so well...It's really all about being curative! Much love back Karen!
All wonderful ideas Sharen! Thank you!
Great tip! Thanks!
We did a picnic last weekend over Easter , the weather was lovely and the live music was free . It was absolutely wonderful .
That sounds so fun!
Your kitchen counter is sooooo clean!!!!
LOL! Yes, I try to keep up with it daily.
Agree about the fireflies…..so magical!
Aren't they though!
One of my dear friends quilted a blanket for my family to take to the cemetery on picnics. This was not long after we buried our 2nd and 3rd children and we do use her quilt for that.
Oh my goodness I am so very sorry...
Thank you, Emmy. Thank God I'm confident we'll be together again.
Many thanks for a terrific video. Thanks Paul for trying the rose/potato rooting. I used to enjoy hanging items outside so thrifty. Great tips and memories. Waving to you from Michigan, Sue
Waving right back Sue! Thank you!
Congratulations Julie for winning!
Love your tips. It's great when a couple work together to be frugal
Thankfully yes, we are on the same page!
Those zero gravity chairs look so comfy! Do you like it?
It snowed again today. I can't wait to get out into the garden 😭.
It was relatively warm earlier in the week and it was nice to let the kids play out there and draw on the side walk. I was so glad I bought tons of chalk last year. We love to do you pick places as a family. So much fun. Kites are a little difficult in our area, because the wind can be pretty unpredictable and it's pretty strong. There's a joke that this area was settled because people stopped to camp and said they'd continue their travel when the wind stops
LOL! Sidewalk chalk is so much fun!
I'm too frugal not to use my tomato seeds, so I blitz my tomatoes in the food processor or blender until the seeds are just part of the liquid. Better in my stomach than in my compost bin. Yum.
The seeds of my tomatoes add a bitter taste so I remove them.
Wonderful ideas! Love eating fresh cut watermelon or homemade ice cream! Take care guys ❤
We do too! I can't wait! Not in season here yet!
I want to go blueberry picking! It was so fun when I was young, and it was also something I did with my kids.
Sounds wonderful!
I love gardening!! Great tips, thank you!!
Thanks for watching Patricia!
We will have a picnic at the lake at the Monastery. There are geese and ducks there. It is really pretty.
Sounds absolutely wonderful!
You as well Elizabeth, thank you!
We had that game Masterpiece when I was growing up. To this day I love Clue!
Clue is so fun too!
Congrats Julie for winning the cookbook 🥳🥳🥳 my husband and I have a drying rack and we use it all year around, we love drying our clothes this way 😍😍
Saves so much money!
If you cut the ends off the celery and put it in lukewarm water... It will crisp up perfectly in a short time
Yes, we do that all the time! This time I just used it as is LOL!
I want to visit our local farmers markets.
Love doing that too!
We put a clothesline up. I've been using it.
YAY! That's wonderful!
I've been hanging clothes out to dry all week, love the smell of sunshine!! We love taking the pups on walks in the woods because it's cooler and they love it. We normally take a lunch when we get out and about enjoying the day. Great ideas as always Emmy and Paul!!
Love that! Thanks for being here!
Happy Spring!😊
so true, so many free activities! Happy Spring to you as well Darlene!
Warmer weather means spending time outside..
Days are longer so morning walks can start just before sunrise...1-2 hr walk...then home to brew coffee and begin the day!
Perfection!!
Thanks so much for sharing!
What a lovely comment! Thanks so much! So happy you found us too!
Isn’t it the best feeling in the world when you get into your bed that’s been line dried, there’s no amount of fabric conditioner that can match the smell and the feeling you get. Great Video sending blessings from Scotland 🏴
Yes! Such a cozy smell!
We have been picking wild garlic. I have lots frozen for use throughout the year. Great tip turning your bedding inside out so it doesn't fade
I have never seen wild garlic!
Love wild garlic!
Isn't it a fun game!
Miko, God Bless you as well, thank you!
Sounds great! Thanks so much, God Bless you as well!
Fresh strawberries already?! We live in the wrong state lol!
