There have been occasions where there have been battles involving the entire server (100 people), but those are usually organised by communities. Plus a bunch of the ships in the trailers aren't flyable yet, so we won't be able to replicate everything for a while

It can be a fun sandbox to multiplayer with a crew. And for every epic moment like watching a gunship with its engines doppler pitch as it passes over you while driving up a ridge line and the sun glints off the hull, there is a (nigh hilarious) bug like when my friend tripped walking up the stairs and died on impact while shopping in a dystopian city. But it is those bugs that usually signal the end of a play session for the day.
I've had those bugs drop me into the literal core/center of the planet before I got the chance to fire a blaster in anger or throttle a ship into orbit

@@o-wolf I have unwillingly seen the roof of the sky bridge of the New Babbage hotel so many times due to elevator load failures. The worst part about it being that fall doesn't kill you outright, but you can't go anywhere but to walk off the roof and let the next fall kill you.

Bought a $10 bundle years ago and recently given it another try. It is a fantastic game WHEN it works as it should, unfortunately it rarely does. Nothing like flying across the system to fight some bad guys (that have janky AI) to collect stolen cargo only to find that the recipient receptical won't accept it so realising right at the very end that you can't complete the mission.
It is unfortunate when that happens, but my friends and I go into it knowing that we're on a timer until something goes wrong and just enjoy our time until that point.
It can be frustrating when that time comes at a very inconvenient point, but it's the nature of the game it it's current stage.
@@CrusstySculpture I think they need to get the core gameplay loop working 100% before spending any more resources on anything else. Making bartender AI and ice-cube physics or whatever fluff when missions and combat AI aren't working is a bizarre decision.

@@KineticLatencyThat's what they are doing but because it is a crowdfunding they have to make the game accessible while they are developing it and the game always been advertised a beta for the moment.
Bethesda took 25 years for Starfield but they are a studio so they were able to work and release it when finished.
Honestly when you look at star citizen at the beginning and what it is now, they have done a lot of work since!!

While I didn't expect SC itself to be out by now, I sure as hell expected the first part of the Squadron 42 campaign to be out so we at least had SOMETHING of worth to play.

Unless you run a rig from the dark ages, most of the games cutscenes are direct3D from the game itself, it looks exactly the same as the gameplay. Doubt that his wont be like that.
@@Compendyum visually, yes. But i was thinking aobut how cool it would be if a nearby patrol or security outpost actually reacted to pirate trouble or to watch a flight show during Invictus instead of just a few ships spawning in and getting stuck on the closest solid object
@@cv368 Agreed. This is not something easy to achieve. Starfield is being delayed over and over, also. I believe both will fall short on their premisses, just like Cyberpunk, maybe this one gets the most of it.

The only similarity is the wing configuration and no one owns the exclusive rights to any wing configuration.
@@3drocket I know, but beside from Star Wars and a few others such as the fighter from Babylon 5, no one really use this kind of configuration. And the popularity of Star Wars pretty much reinforced the association between the X shape configuration and the space opera,
Star Citizen has a history if ripping of other franchises. Check out the Vulture/Venture debacle, for example. The MSR looks like the Millenium Falcon, Nomad and Galaxy looks like Elite Dangerous ships, the Tevarin drop ship looks like a ship from Final Fantasy. All the rifles and armors look like Halo/Destiny.....

- npcs do not moving

This game is the epitome of a slow roll but I have a feeling if and when they get this game super polished it will be one of the greatest games of all time it has near infinite potential if it gets enough of a player base and the right servers
The Xenothreat events can actually look like that, minus the carriers because they aren't in the game yet. But having friendly AI, enemy AI, friendly players and enemy players all fighting each other in a single space trying to destroy each other's capital ships. It's great fun when it happens
Well I hope they introduce factions, like in ED so we can fight over territory. Else, I don't really see any reason to pvp, other than for the lulz...
If anything this is more fitting trailer for SQ42. SC is a life, not battle.

The score on the launcher is already epic and should definitely be the score in the film if they ever make a star citizen movie.
There's a Kickstarter for the movie actually, target is $2 billion, but with $50 million raised they plan to launch a logo teaser trailer within 7 years.

The only thing i hate is not even the game but servers and game code (30k). Game is fantastic even as it is in its sorry state not even a bit close to be finished.
No falling through the floor, no mission quest markers, no clipping out of your ship, no bugged space animation, no frame tears, no frame lag, no server 30k, no etc..

I counted at least a dozen things in this trailer that are currently impossible in this game, after ten years of development. If they had any interest in focusing on building the tech, rather than pretty and expensive virtual space ships, the game might actually be released some day as more than a beta.

If they put as much effort into developing the game as they do their cutscenes we may actually see this game this century.
Disingenuous much? How many cutscenes have you seen from them over the years? I don't like the fact they're taking so long either but you don't have to spew bullshit to make your point. Have you been following the development or the changes or the upgrades or the incremental changes or are you a member? The players who have bought in clearly can see the development and the hard work but it's not going as fast they hoped. For you to equate the cutscenes to how much effort they expand is just downright nonsensical and fallacious.
Dumb statement. Thats what teams are for. There are parallel groups working together which means a cutscene does not cut into developmental time. Nice try on the hate though.
I’m still very skeptical of this game’s ability to deliver, but perhaps some day it’ll come to fruition. If it does, it would be pretty cool, but we’ll see.
Edit: what they NEED to do next is deliver on Squadron 42. That would likely breathe some new life into the game’s universe and the fans would be able to actually hype something up instead of being cynical at the things the game lacks (the game does have cool stuff, but because of the long development and relatively slow progress, it’s hard to keep the hype train going forever)

I backed the game in the first couple days of the kickstarter, specifically for Squadron 42, because I had loved the wing commander games as a kid, I don't even care about MMO type games at all. I really wish they would have just focused on building a game that worked, and then did the ambitions open persistent world stuff afterwards, they would be getting far less flak had they.

The game that has been in development for the last 12 years on an engine that is 8 years old just developed a trailer in 4K that looks way better than the game will when it is finished 10 years from now.
So, since its in the trailer, what's multiplayer fleet actions like?
There's some videos out there of nice 50 vs 50 battles. There always ends up a big furball and lots of zerging each other.
The bigger ships in the trailer aren't in yet so capital battles are pretty limited but a few happen. Look up "hybrid v Javelin firing" for a cinematic look at ships firing bullets at each other the size of a starter player ship lol

Star citizen is going to be the gorgeous ground breaking MMO once released. I hope it undermines ever other MMO, PERIOD.
Great video, however it missed couple of things, like the deadly elevators or not being able to log in.
So far all it’s doing is showing stuff that we’ve already seen, nothing that we can actually play. I wonder if this is another one of those fake demo reals. That seems to be big news right now. I mean seriously this doesn’t do anything to showcase what’s actually going to be happening in game. This is more one of those buy this $3000 ship that you won’t be able to play in game. This is just a a demo reel to hype, new players, and to paying thousands of dollars for ships, this game is never going to get released.
