      Cloudflare free dns features are great. You may not need to change nameservers. Cloudflare handles all the dns config and SSL for free. I think the catch is they want you to use their DNS features. Buying a domain from them forces you to do that. This would only be an issue with something like Squarespace or Shopify perhaps.

    The only question left is whether they have a feature to protect your information as Godaddy does. Essentially blocking the owners private information...

      @@TheFigCo No, you cannot. Not without upgrading to a business account which cost $200 a month. I bought my domain on Cloudflare mainly based on your recommendation. Now I'm stuck not being able to use it since they won't let me use my Zyro nameservers. You have lead me astray. You should stop recommending Cloudflare without pointing out that detail first.

      You cannot change nameservers for a domain registered with Cloudflare. It's about the only limitation. To do this, you would need to transfer the domain from cloudflare to another registrar.

      @Zeeshaan Div I agree, but it's the cost of not paying any domain commission fees, I guess. Plenty of other registrars out there who are more flexible, but more expensive.

    How do I use my Cloudfare Domain name with Hostgator? I can not change the Cloudfare name servers.

      I would leave HostGator and use Digital Ocean. You will notice a huge difference. I don't know why I stayed with Hostgator for so long. The word droplet scared me up. I was like what the hell is a droplet...sounds too complicated....turns out it just means a server and they make everything super easy. The speed of my sites is fantastic. I also started using Plesk instead of cPanel...Don't know why I was stuck on cPanel for so long. I said goodbye to that as well. Actually, my domains are still registered on Hostgator, but I use D.O. to host my sites since Hostgator allows NS Changes and I didn't feel like going through the hassle.

      @@digdilem sorry im new to this and a little confused, whats the point buying our domain from them if we stuck and cannot connect it to a hosting page? ive just bought my domain name from them and now need to create a website but havent chosen yet who with so will i not be able to link the two of them and what do you mean by "tranfer the domain to an other registra"? does it actually mean ive just bought it from them for nothing? or tranfer mean i will still be with them and pay their fees?

    • @digdilem
      @digdilem Рік тому

      @@iconicella235 If your hosting is with cloudflare as well, there's no need to move the domain. If your hosting is somewhere else, then yes - you'll need to transfer your domain elsewhere. That's not terribly difficult, and you won't lose the time you've registered your domain for. Sometimes you need to pay for an extra year to the new registrar, but they don't charge for transferring.

      @@fullstuckwebdeveloper8063 Yes - you have full control over your dns with cloudflare, but you cannot change the nameservers like you can with a normal registrar. That's not a complaint, but it's important people understand that before they use CF as some webhosts do require NS's to be set to theirs so they can automatically change DNS records.

    Cloudflare: "Due to changes in the Registry pricing, our fees for the following TLDs will be changing. All transactions, including auto-renewals, that occur on or after the effective date will be billed at the new price.
