Thank you for this clear and concise rundown of domain name registrars. After giving it a bit of thought, I have decided to purchase a few domains from Porkbun and am happy with my decision. :)
Thanks for your great videos! I just purchased a couple of domains via one of your links and was wondering if there’s any registry support I automatically receive after the purchase? Thanks
The best option for beginners is to purchase the hosting & domain and pay for the privacy settings to be included. But if you, like me, are an admin on Windows Server or any other server operating system, you don't need the product he sells at all. Cheers from 🇵🇹
I've used Cloudflare for years for security but as a registrar it was a disaster for me because they don't let users change the DNS unless you in their business tier which charges $200 a MONTH! If you don't ever need to change name servers, it's fine, I guess. Support is ZERO though - LITERALLY
For me... 1. No email. They "include" email forwarding but it only works with select email services. eg, it won't work with gmail last I checked. 2. You can change the name servers. 3. zero support which is a disadvantage unless you're highly experienced with their system. @@babitasaha6655
0:44 What did you mean in the Quick Note by "We are not purchasing the domain to have it forever, we are renting it on anual basis""? Not all hosting websites are renewable? Can we buy a domain to have it forever? Or can we buy the domain we have forever ?
It’s this way regardless of where you buy your domain. You could pay for multiple years at a time, but you are essentially renting the domain, you stop paying, you’ll lose the domain.
I'm a self-published author and am trying to figure out how to create my author website. If I use the Porkbun domain name register, could I use Squarespace as my web hosting? Also does Porkbun offer the privacy protection that you mentioned?
About the privacy thing, you don't need it, after the GDPR law that the EU enforced in 2019 no personal information is allowed to be given in public db like WHOIS. So even without it you are fine.
@@rush9800internet traffic still gets send to the EU so other countries need to accept the fact that they need to follow the law. Though you are right if that traffic is not supposed to go to the EU then they might as well not follow it. Though point still stands that if the internet traffic goes from let's say India to Germany, India must follow EU's internet laws. Same thing if it is the opposite Germany to India. Lets also not forget that EU is a big influence in what content goes out in the internet. Thus why if some non-EU country wants to get that info then both parties must follow their laws.
Overall you are talking about a couple of bucks difference per year. I mean... Then ill choose the one i like the most. I don't care about those couple of bucks. It has to be functional and user friendly. That's what i care about.
Most of this is just about pricing. What about user interface, usability, importing and exporting, forwarding setup, custom DNS setups, etc? The title should be changed to cheapest domain name registrars.
This video was super helpful but I still have a question. If I already have a fully coded html/css website in a text editor like sublime text what do I do after I buy a domain name to make it so that anyone can just get to my website from their browser? I don't need to monetize the website or anything like that I just need people to be able to access. If there are different ways to do it though I would prefer the cheaper one?
@stephenpeters4393 ya I got the website up an running but haven't had the time to put more effort into it sadly so it's still just bare html and css. Im hoping to learn more this summer to try and re code it and make it look and function better
I guess I am a little bit confused. If I haven't purchased my domain, can I just purchase it straight from Wix? If I want to connect WIx to other registrar I would need a premium plan on Wix anyways. Also, I don't see anywhere the pricing you mentioned in this video. The cheapest option I see is $16/month after the first free year.
Thank you for this video! I did notice that cloudflare would not allow to change the annot change the nameservers of a domain registeree of a domain registered with Cloudflare to an external service. Does that mean that if I want to get the domain from cloudflare but get the hosting somewhere else, Cloudflare is not a good option for the domain name?
thanks , finally, clear, understandable, and thorough instructions, but i still need help, what do i do about the mistakes i made thus farare they fixable can i opt out and still keep my domain?where do i get answers for these types of questions?
I'm confused I just used your link to purchase a domain and now they said i can only transfer it after 60 days. please there anyway i can transfer it without waiting that 60 days because i already have a hosting plan with a different hosting company
If we can transfer our domain within the companies, then why is renewal a issue, everytime the contract renews we can transfer the company and start from the very first year with another in cheaper rates.
How do we know that when we type in our domain request...they don't just buy it and then gouge us... I'm getting totally different pricing from different sites... even though the name is available they want $6,500
'Best' is debatable. 'Best' for what factor - price, service, security, privacy, jurisdiction? You talked only about price and a little bit on services. I think a more accurate title would be 'best value domain name registrars'. But even there you don't go into much detail. Thanks for one introductory assessment though.
okay so if i buy a domain from one of these places what do i do as far as bulding the website? I have a site I built with wix, can I bring my cheap domain over to wix?
when i buy domein for 90% disscount for first year can i use it for 1 year and then dont pay for the otehr ones? and if is it possible how to remove (subscription)
If you want to continue to use the domain, you'll need to pay for it each year. If you only need it for 1 year, just pay for 1 year and don't renew it. After you purchase, make sure auto-renew is turned off so your card isn't automatically charged at the beginning of the 2nd year.
I would also like to use your affiliate link, but it’s not working. Do you have a promo code that will give you the affiliate compensation and give me the discount? Please / thx :)
Thanks for the offer, but we don’t earn an affiliate commission for Porkbun or Clouldflare. Just trying to share the best info regardless of if we’re making a commission or not.

Great video, audio, communication and content!
Really hate that Google domains is selling to Square Space… Thank you for this video
Avoid Square Space, they sold my clients private information to marketers.
Same. I have several domains with Google. Thinking of transferring to Namecheap.
Me too. Google domain was very good and good renewal price
Thank You. 1st Trial. Was pretty easy to follow through!

Thank you for this informative video
You're very welcome!
Any recommendations to replace Google Domains?
I use the link on the description for Porkbun and they are charging me 9.37 1st year and then renews 10.37. You said on the video 8.37 right??

why?
Google are now not supporting domains, i thinks the best alternative are namecheap or dynadot

TOP!
isn't the privacy protection kind of useless with the gdpr?
correct
Some of those prices are a huge markup on wholesale prices.

Same my question
please make videos about promote youtube channel google ads
hello do you have a code still
Does Pork bun add the security?
Your domain purchase comes with an SSL certificate. Is that what you're referring to?
can you actually own a domain independently? i dont like the idea of renting a domain from a company
If I transfer my domain to Porkbun, will they automatically populate the DNS records?
They should pull in all your DNS record for you, but just in case, I'd make a copy of all of them...
you're discount for Porkbun does not work.
Lmao
bruh to much information just give 5 best
what about Linode ?
Hosting not Registrar
When buying a domain name, if i don't want www. do i purchase it without it? Cool video 👍
What do you think about Hostinger? 5/25 $9.99 first year $14.99 renewal
Godaddy is great!
