宋子豪和亞 Mark 是黑社會沙煲兄弟, 而子豪的親弟子傑卻是警務人員. 故子豪必須生活於兩種身份中. 一次子豪到台灣交易偽鈔時被當地黑幫伏擊, 出賣他的人正是他看重的亞成. 知悉內情的阿 Mark 隻身到台灣替子豪復仇, 卻被子彈所傷, 成了跛子. 子豪在台灣服刑三年, 回到香港後希望從新做人, 但子傑不諒解他. 有日子豪見到已成黑幫首領的亞成, 及替亞成開車門的亞 Mark, 要脅子豪重出江湖, 但他不為所動. 亞成於是佈局暗害傑仔, 又將亞 Mark 打至重傷. 而亞 Mark 也以為可和子豪東山再起, 豈料亦被他所拒, 但亞 Mark 仍獨闖亞成巢穴, 強取偽鈔印版. 宋不忍, 終於出手相助. 他一方面要脅亞成去西沙灣談判, 另一方面將偽鈔印版寄給子傑. 西沙灣上子豪, 亞 Mark 和亞成火併, 子傑追蹤而至. 在槍戰中亞 Mark 中彈身亡. 亞成亦被子豪槍殺, 子傑終於原諒了哥哥….

Sung Tse-ho and Mark are blood brothers in the Triad. Ho's own brother, Tse-kit, is a policeman, and Ho leads a double life. Ho is in Taiwan for a counterfeit money deal when local gangsters ambush him. His right-hand man, Tam Shing, betrayed him. Mark goes to Taiwan to take revenge for Ho, but is wounded and becomes a cripple. After serving three years in a Taiwan prison, Ho returns to Hong Kong hoping to start a new life, but his brother Kit still distrusts him. Ho sees Mark, who has become a bum, opening the car door for Shing, who is now the headman of a gang. Shing wants Ho to become a gangster again, but Ho refuses. Shing then sets a trap for Kit and beats Mark to within an inch of his life. Mark also hopes to pair up with Ho again and make a comeback, but is turned down by Ho. Mark then goes alone to Shing's lair to take the plate for making counterfeit money. Ho can't stop himself from helping Mark. He asks Shing out for a meeting and at the same time mails the plate to Kit. At the meeting, shooting breaks out among Ho, Mark and Shing. Ah Kit arrives in time to see Mark shot and Shing shot by Ho. Kit finally forgives his brother….

35年前的电影了。至今都在流传，经典是不怕时间的摧残的。
真的是港片最好看的電影

Man, I watch the trailer, the emotional scenes, listen to the wonderful soundtrack and have tears in my eyes. What an epic movie... And oh my, have we become old :)

Well, in term of story and acting. In term of action, Hard-Boiled is the best.

One of the best movie i ever see. As good as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Seven Samurai and The Godfather. What made The Godfather the best is the clean view. I dont know what kind camera did they use but it is like 1080p everytime.

Friggin' love this movie! Does anyone know if there will be a remake of this movie or at least another movie that is as great as this one?
There have been two remakes of this. There's a Korean one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Better_Tomorrow_(2010_film) and a Mainland one: cityonfire.com/a-better-tomorrow-2018-review-remake-reboot-john-woo-ding-sheng/. Neither one are good from everything I've read. This is one movie that has no business being remade as it's excellent as is.
Also the other 2 Filipino remakes such as Berdugo starred Philip Salvador and Kunin Ang Ulo ni Ysmael starred Jestoni Alarcon.

The IVL trilogy box set is great, except the minor sync issues. Especially in part 1. Plus the noisy picture and it would be awesome if the directors cut of ABT2 was dug up somewhere. Tsui Hark really ruined ABT2.

Audio on the blu-ray is a disaster. Just AWFUL. Same disgustingly lazy WRONG remixed track. Video is good, but compressed too much because this is a single layer release. Hopefully Critertion can get ahold of the rights.
Definitely one to get on laserdisc.
had a copy of the dvd ages ago but I have a rather good laserdisc player, only problem is.. if it has the commentary track , that won't play it. But it'll play a warped one just fine. (not in the digital style version, but that one will play both tracks. ) Doubt it's on CED :P Only have Star Wars 4-6 on CED. Maybe one other title and thats it.. I have a player but no needle

Is there any good version of this on Blu-Ray? I read somewhere that Fortune Star transfers aren’t very good, but this wine was the worst. Unfortunately a lot of the movies I’m looking for on Blu-Ray are Fortune Star remasters.
