+1 for sumps on large freshwater tanks. Thought I was the only one who couldn’t get a filter sock clean. Good to know I’m not alone. Nice looking sump. Now let’s set how it works 😉👍
Vikitoria is making one slick set up: Clear Fabrications tank, Trigger sump - gonna be sweet! Really cool unboxing of an awesome product and nice to hear some insights on how you plan to use it Joel!
Instead of filter socks ive used large filter media bags and placed rings and lined the inside polyfil sheets. The polyfil sheets grab the majority of the gunk and you can rinse out the media socks and reuse. I also attach a media bag to the end of my syphon so i dont get lots of gunk going down the sink. Btw sump looks nice and i cant wait to see you set it up
I really like the idea of a sump. Our 75g has a sump. But I have yet to see one that is suitable for freshwater. The big difference between fresh and salt is that freshwater tanks really need mechanical filtration more than anything, especially planted tanks. And I have never seen a sump which allows for adequate mechanical filtration. As pretty as that sump is it looks like it will be a nightmare to work on. At least for how I would want it to work.
i know nothing about sumps. ive been watching your videos and its been helpful. i was debating on using this diy sump that came with my tank or finding a used one. the nice shiny one you have there makes me want to go new...
Victoria that was totally an awesome thing you did. Joel, I am stoked for you, that is a cool sump in every sens. I understand that about why you use sumps instead of canisters. I wish I did a sump for the aquarium in the hotel restaurant. Thank you for sharing. 👍
well my ocd has finally kicked in... finally took my trigger emerald 39 out of the box since October . decided I want the sapphire because it'll match my eco-tech l1 pump. lol
I know this is an old video, so I'm not sure you'll see this. However I wanted to know if you've ever tried a roller mat filter instead of trying to deal with the socks.
How loud is the water splashing? I’m thinking leaving the bottom open and lighting it. It’s too pretty to hide! But if it’s loud I may rethink that idea. Thanks
im watching sump but i cant understand this plumbing and what to used pump in my 50gallon, i need some delicate step by step bec i have no idea of about this tubes, i do manual cleaning and i dont have holes on my tank either, i have watch many sump videos but still it confuses me so much
There's no need to feel bad, sometimes its easier or cheaper to keep it simple! None of my tanks are drilled either, I do all my water changes manually. The idea is to control how the water overflows down into the sump, you don't want to pump or siphon water down, you want to pump up to the main tank and let the water come down naturally so that you don't get a disaster if there is a power failure or if the pump breaks. So there needs to be a hole in the tank or an overflow box or something, without that you can't control where the water goes.
Hi Corcus, I just purchased this sump. I am so anxious!!! QQ - I have been using a canister filter for about 2 years and so for my reef tank, i took out all of the sponges and carbon from the canister and have been using Matrix and other Ceramic rings in the trays instead. with that being said....where should i put the ceramic rings and matrix in this sump?
👇👇👇👇 Here is my doubt, please help me out Overflow box can suck the fish poop ?? Which one is the best way overhead sump or bottom sump ? Thank you in advance
Just had my trigger emerald 39 delivered. And a.t.o The hardest part was wether or not to buy the sapphire or emerald But being ☘️ I had to go with the emerald. Lol
Do you know witch trigger system sump , would be good for a 90 gallon African cichlid tank , ideally I would want a lot of space for biological and chemical filtration, Thanks.
Please guide me i make new aqurium starphire glass size is 48"×24"24=15mm tell me how much size sump is best and which one is best and guise me light for coral na reef for salt marine water ?
folks i just bought the exact same sump and i have to say it is NOT a great buy. i bought mine "NEW" i twas shipped direct from trigger, and the finish quality is abysmal for the $429 price tag. router marks, bubbles in the flame polishing, even the "eggcrate" parts had finish issues, not only that the retailer. also some retailers are citing it has an engraved water level indicator ( newsflash the trigger sapphire 34 does NOT have water level indicator). trigger use to stand for high quality finish well those days is long gone, you can save money and get another sump for less money that will accomplish the same thing and have better finish quality. lastly trigger systems customer service and support, well this is non-exsistant they never respond putting the warranty on retailers and of course doing a return with a retailer ends up with you wasting money on return shipping and restock fees. my advice, dont waste your time, just get an eshopps out of the gate

Howdy Holly! Yes, I've done experience with the roller filters, they are awesome, just expensive! If you have the means, I'd go for it.
Beautiful! What kind of fish are you going to stock it with?
Secret surprises.
Whaaaaat? Not a DIY sump? That thing looks way too pretty for your style, Joel!
How loud is the water splashing? I’m thinking leaving the bottom open and lighting it. It’s too pretty to hide! But if it’s loud I may rethink that idea. Thanks
Most of them are close to silent, I will be adding doors, mainly due to the light leak when shooting video though!

There will be a plumbing video in the near future for ya!

Unsure of the layout of your sump, but, all the bio media rubble should be in the third chamber, or whichever follows the skimmer chamber! 😁

Awesome sump! How do you go about picking the size of pump you need?
I will show that when I plumb it, it will make sense!

Do you know witch trigger system sump , would be good for a 90 gallon African cichlid tank , ideally I would want a lot of space for biological and chemical filtration, Thanks.
I really like the sapphire 44!
Corvus Oscen is it the one you have , and do u know if it capable of being a wet as well?
Like a wet dry tower? It doesn't have that, but, yeah that's the ones I'm running
Please guide me i make new aqurium starphire glass size is 48"×24"24=15mm tell me how much size sump is best and which one is best and guise me light for coral na reef for salt marine water ?
When do I really need a sump for my tank? Does a 20 gallon tank need a sump?
Box violence is real...
Dang...I wanted to be first! Haha!
Wow thats almost 500 dollars. How come you didnt make a sump yourself?
Viki wanted new freshness. I'm going to be doing some that I build soon though.
What a great lady you have! 🤗😘
Nice but uncomfortable to clean....
