This was so helpful. Thank you. Looking forward to watching more.😊
Absolutely amazing video demonstration. Thank You for taking the time to create this. You definitely know your technology and the features this car offers.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that. Love the Acura and Honda Brand. Always looking to help people enjoy owning their Acura.
Love your content too!
Thanks for the video and your candidness. Always refreshing to get an honest opinion
Great work on this video. Thanks for being so thorough and for expressing opinions on the settings.
Very thorough video, but I'm going to avoid upgrading my RDX. My takeaway is "this is unnecessarily complicated when a touchscreen would have worked better"
I have used this for 3 years, and this is not true. It works once you get used to it
@@dmoseder if its like the Lexus touch pad, no thanks, just give me a dial way easier to use without looking
Very informative video and easy to follow along with his instructions. Just hoping once I’m hands-on inside the 2023 MDX I feel as comfortable with the infotainment system and the touch pad. Thanks for publishing this video and I definitely will be searching your other how-to videos.
It's super easy and fun to use I think. You'll get the hang of it and it's always fun to learn something new!
Excellent learning video. Thanks!
Very informative and helpful 👍
Thank you 🙏
Thank you for doing this video. Great information.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Can you use Carplay or Android Auto in full screen without the small split screen on the right?
Thank you for the video. It's so helpful! I was hesitant on getting an MDX because of the touchpad. I mostly used android auto in another vehicle and I kinda experimented a week to see how much I actually was using the touchscreen in that vehicle. While I did use the touchscreen, I also realized that most of those tasks could be done using voice command or the touchpad. There are some things I do miss using a touchscreen, but I'm getting comfortable with the touchpad. I am quickly getting used to it. One thing I appreciate about the touchpad is that I can do some things without having to look at the screen or touchpad or having to lean forward, which is one of the best advantages of this format. And it's located at a "natural" position. I guess time will tell how it holds up. I hope Acura will continuously provide updates to the system to make it more intuitive and user friendly and not quickly abandon it.
Very helpful vidéo thank you
Glad it was helpful!
My mdx aspec 2023 is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have just finished both MDX delivery videos and they are outstanding. I am about to purchase a 24 MDX and have read so many reviews and watched video reviews. Universally the reviewer throws a negative at the info system on this car. Clearly they did not spend any time with it making their conclusion meaningless. I will be using this video while setting up my car in the driveway upon delivery and I am very grateful that Serra Acura spent so much time making this information available. Great job!
Not having an actual touch screen on my MDX is the biggest zonk. Plus Apple Car Play / Android auto is far superior in regards to UE.
When we purchased our RDX’s earlier this year, I hated getting familiar with the pad/screen combo. However when we swapped one of our RDX’s for an MDX, having familiarized ourselves, I actually love the interface.
Great video! How do you delete or backspace when you choose to draw (vs speak or type) in your find contacts, places, etc.?
This system also is something that I am iffy about in this car. I understand that most think it's useful and safer, but just seems like either way you are using your eyes and your finger. And if that is the case, the safer method would be when you can see exactly what you are touching, and the eyes and the finger are coming together at the same point. As I watch this video on my laptop, I do understand (and this may be a better way to help demo it to people) that it is very similar to a trackpad on a laptop. However, that is why more people use tablets, smartphones or laptops with touchscreen capability - it's just easier. I do believe that people can get used to any way of doing something, so I'm sure most would get used to this. The challenge is just finding a way to get used to it prior to buying a car so that you are completely comfortable with it.
I am actually referring to the TLX.
Take it frome someone who hates the screen-less Wacom drawing tablet and prefers to be able to draw directly on the Wacom with the screens. I find it a handicap for me to look up at a monitor while my stylus is on the drawing pad. This is not the same with the MDX touchpad. I find using the touchpad to be functionally superior and natural over leaning forward to touch the screen. I wouldn't have it any other way under that scenario. However, if Acura was smart, they would make the screen also a touchscreen for those whose minds and hands don't have the coordination. Consumers brains operate differently and Acura needs to understand that if they want to keep their share of the market.
IMHO using this while driving is way more dangerous than a touchscreen..I have to look at the screen way more to make sure I’m in the right spot using a touchpad.. don’t get me started on everything an address using it Jesus
Thank you for your extensive explanation. It has resolved many questions that the dealer did not know how to answer, thank you.
I have an iphone, when I enter the RDX-2022 it connects waze. How to select that the map will be waze or the gps of the car?
Great video! Please provide information on rear collision mitigation system. Is it always ON or can it be deactivated accidentally? Thanks!😊
I do mostly like it but I wish it played better with Apple CarPlay. In Acura native screens it is wonderful but it is cumbersome with CarPlay. Would be nice to have both it and a touchscreen.
Same with Android Auto - it is Awful!! Like a SLOW mouse ! I can't believe Acura would put this put like this. I will comment that the MDX's Navi system is a Good One and works seemlessly with Alexa. Same could be said for the Console USB connection for using a Flash drive. Only works when in Adroid Auto Mode or is it Vice Versa?
Thank you for this, terrific video. People are very split on this design and I understand why. I'm not bothered by the touchpad vs touchscreen, but I do think the side by side display could use some work - it would be nice if it gave the option for fullscreen. I imagine they could deploy that via software update. Having said that, I have a touchscreen in a different car and despise the smudges that show, and I have to lunge forward in my seat to reach it.
I love the MDX Type S and plan to buy one eventually. However, I absolutely hate the touchpad. So, I will wait a few years for the next generation MDX Type S. Hopefully by then the infotainment system will be modernized and the touchpad eliminated.
Coming back to a 2023 MDX after a MB 2019 A220, this screen is a MAJOR downgrade. Though I am used to the trackpad after a few weeks, i still miss the gorgeous display of the A220 and I still can't get past that useless right side split screen. I don't see the point of having a gigantic time display or a redundant "Android Auto" display. I really wish they'd get rid of the right side and make the display full screen 😢 big issue for me because you literally can't avoid it.
It's not redundant, on apple carplay the side display allows you to quickly switch between apps
Hi - thanks again for the video! One thing I didn't see. Is there a way to get rid of the panel on the right third of the screen? Seems like a lot of real estate used for not much info. where the full screen could be used. Thanks.
They 100% need full screen mode trust me it’s frustrating
Great vid for potential buyers like me. Thanks.
Thanks a ton! Please make more videos like this one. Funny story: I was washing my MDX with AUTO LOCK ON, and the key fob in my pocket, and each time I got close to a door it would unlock the vehicle and push the mirrors out, and each time I stepped away farther it would lock the MDX & fold the mirrors in. (It was kinda amusing.), but, by the time I was all done, I think I confused the vehicle so much that it wouldn't let me back in the vehicle with just touching the door handle with my hand. I had to get the key fob out and hit the unlock button. (I read later in the owner's manual something about functionality being limited if the door handle is all wet.) I'll keep experimenting.
Thanks again. More videos on 2023 MDX SH-AWD Advance Package. Can you explain VTEC and techniques to get the best gas mileage? - Driver Doug 👍
We are trying to get some guest speakers like our service manager to help explain this. But using high octane will help get best fuel economy. Along with having the vehicle in comfort mode.
Expect 17 city 23 max highway
And 13-14mpg if u wanna have fun and drive it like it’s meant to be driven in sport mode in S tranny mode
While using Android Auto/Apple car play, can you delete the info panel on the right side of the screen?
I absolutely hated that touchpad. The worst thing they could bring to a gorgeous car like this.
Why it’s easy to use. Easier than a touch screen.
Agree. My issue is that huge useless right side too. Touch screen would make things easier as well. Too many steps to connect your phone as well. Took like 4 clicks
After 19 months with my 22 MDX Advance, Despite what others say (it's about a 50-50 Love Hate relationship to the TTIP), I still struggle wiith it. I truly LIKE the MDX for its Ride, Looks, Handling, etc. and put the TTIP on the backburner of the car's consideration. I figured it would Grow On Me. I still generally hate it. I use the Steering wheel controls, but still find it burdensome to say the least. Moreover, In AA or Car Play, the Touch Pad id awful!! Doesn't work the same...It's S L O W ! In 2019, I passed on the new RDX bnc of This TTIP. Tooka 2109 MDX which I traded for the new 22 last August 2021. My 37 yo son, who takes my car occassionally - drive a 2017 JEEP GC - hates It !! My wife wouldn't have a clue
Is there a way to disable the auto roll down of windows when fob unlocked is inadvertently pressed twice in the RDX.? The video shows that the settings options gives the option to disable this annoying feature in the MDX, but no option shows up in settings for the RDX.
I've seen enough. You've convinced me not to purchase a 2024 MDX. I use Android Auto with a touchscreen. I can't believe that in 2024, there are infotainment screens that aren't touchscreen. It looks like the dashboard design positions the screen a bit too far for the driver to conveniently touch it. So they came up with this TouchPad on the console. Audi did the same thing 10 years ago. Plus, the factory navigation software seems so outdated. I don't want to look down at the console or coordinate between console and screen while trying to focus on the road. I could probably learn to use it, but when I'm in my wife's car or a rental, I'd have to unlearn what I do in the MDX. Unfortunately, the MDX is not for me.
Is there any trim level that has a touchscreen?
Does this have the SiriusXM 360L ?
I would be getting a new MDX except for this touchpad. My wife has a Mercedes without a touchscreen. We love the car but HATE the infotament sytem because of no touch screen. Even after years of ownership we can't get use to how clumpsy it is. All of our other cars are touchscreen and so much easier to use. Thanks for the video, I love everything else about the MDX and was hoping I could get over the touchpad but after watching this I will have to pass.
The touchpad is better. It’s easy to use. Better than a touch screen. Not sure why everyone whines about it.
@@mdenholm15we are the paying our money, we don’t want the touchpad,
First Off, Thanks for this more thorough and less Robotic descriptions I have found either on Line at Acuar or on other channels. Re the Navi screen, IMHO, when you could simply use the Mic to announce an address vry simply, why would one use that horrible Handwriting thingee or the worse keyboard - While Driving!! I might add as an Older driver at 71 yo, and even though I am a Gadget Guy, this TTIP is way Too Much Over The ntop. There should have been a few more easy peasy Buttons , espcecially for the the various radio selections like the AC controls. I don't feel the need to get a BA degree to operate the car's functiions!! hahah
An additional comment: You go too fast thru all of this. !!
Man, You must haveb gone to Acura University - you are Flying through this material at Blazing speeds.
This is a great video. Very thorough, clear, and well thought out. Unfortunately, that infotainment system interface is terrible and bad enough I wouldn’t consider this Acura. There are some nice aspects of that interface, but it generally looks bad. I didn’t think the infotainment system didn’t matter that much or they were all the same, but that is not true at all. Once you have used a nice system, using a bad one like is in our 2018 Highlander, is painful.
I get it. It’s new and different. But as you can see in the video I have absolutely no trouble with it as well as the fact that it’s easier and safer to use than a touch screen. Thank you for the comment though! I may try and make a video where I have a camera on my face and on my hands while driving and run through different commands to see which one actually takes my eyes off the road more. You might be surprised!
@@mdenholm15 thanks for the thorough video! I did a thumbs up to this: "I may try and make a video where I have a camera on my face and on my hands while driving and run through different commands to see which one actually takes my eyes off the road more." Did you already do that? Thanks.
I have had this system on my 2022 MDX and now on my 2023 MDX. I would not want a touch-screen system. The conveniently located touch pad is easy to reach. I would have to lean forward to manage a touch-screen system and then there's the fingerprints all over it. I do use Apple Carplay all the time.
I had just purchased 2023 MDX Advance yesterday and the touchpad is really not bad. I actually like it because it is located where your fingers fall naturally and not have to fully extend your arms to reach a touch screen. It is actually easier to operate while driving because you can just quick glance to confirm that the selected menu is highlighted instead of totally focusing on the screen to hit the target spot if it is touch screen. I think this is much safer when trying to operate it while driving. It was the sticking point for me when I was planning to get an MDX because of all the bad reviews. But once I’ve personally used it, it isn’t bad at all.
@TerrySanDiego TOTALLY agree with you. I also have zero issue or discomfort using the touchpad...and while Acura would have been smart to also make it a touchscreen, I would still use the touchpad 80 percent of the time. It is just functionally perfectly located...leaning back and working that screen like James T. Kirk on the starship Enterprise. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't give it the opportunity because it's the "in-thing" to disparage anything that's not a touchscreen. People want to be in the hip crowd, so they simply follow along and assume it's a handicap.
But why did you skip a CarPlay demo?? 🤔
It's not safe when the passenger is trying to use the touchpad for the driver. It's completely awkward. So the driver ends up doing all the things. Looking for a touchscreen replacement for my 2023.
Plz lmk if you find one I’m 100% with u..amazing suv but the touchpad is ass period
I am also agree
I've had my 2023 MDX Aspec for a year now. This system is so easy to use and convenient when you're driving. My wife has a touch screen in her vehicle. Using a touch screen and using it while driving is a pain. I think people get so used to their cell phones and touching the screen.
Same car and I feel the touch pad belongs in 2005
I don't understand why they just don't make a touchscreen in 2023. If you need a full tutorial on how to turn on the radio, then your product manager and UX designer have failed.
You don’t. Takes 2 seconds to learn.
I agree it’s terrible I’d pay whatever to upgrade to a touch screen at this point
Maybe the location of the screen is too far for safety reasons.
Jeez, not another one who doesn’t want to learn anything new…
This is by far my biggest complaint with the car.. honestly it’s a pain in the ass add even can be distracting to use while driving (changing songs…entering a address will make u lose your mind) amazing suv, but this Trackpad belongs in 2004
When you enter the dealer yo will know that your buying a SUV with out touch screen and I’m pretty sure some review videos were seen but yo go ahead and buy the car and then start with I hate no touch screen I hate no touch screen 😊 bro oh my god you’ve already knew that it didn’t had a touch screen why buy it ?
Let me tell it’s dam to easy to use
I don’t know what is such a deal breaker for a lot of people and still end up Buying just to cry until lease is up 😅😂
Bought a Lexus instead
Please get a better infotainment center, touch screen folks! That pad is not something to use while you’re driving… I want to buy an Acura but not with that!
It’s easy to use. That’s the point of the video
I am not a fan
It's way better to use than a touch screen
I bought a acura mdx 2023, is trash, the coolest air conditioner is too bad, no touch screen is sucks
I agree with you no touchpad
Gross hopefully you can just touch the actualy screen
I was all in thinking this was my perfect SUV. The stupid keypad is the ONLY thing I don't like. Trying to drive a car and using a touch pad is a complete deal breaker for me. It's a shame a car as good as this is ruined by such a stupid feature I just can't live with. ACURA, ARE YOU LISTENING. Well, have to find another vihicle.
Her
Lol he makes a video and not showing you nothing I get back to that I’m confused what’s the point of making this video
I have no clue what you wrote lol
“I’m confused“ says it all. @@mdenholm15
