Each call/sound means something different.
They are huge water fowl when seen up close. And stunning.
As a native Minnesotan, I always put this on when I feel a need to reflect relax or am fighting off homesickness. Thank you for sharing!

Fellow native Minnesotan here for the same reason. Thanks for a lovely video!

I miss the haunting sound of Loons. Nice to hear this. I’m looking forward to camping up north again.
I know how you feel Rich I miss it too 😔 That’s the reason I make these videos
I remember as a kid the first time I heard these things was when I was in Ontario, Canada. They’re so creepy yet elegant, gives chills every time
Heard these up at Kearney as a kid we thought that were wolves howling
I heard them at Norway Bay near Ottawa.
it sounds like im sitting in maine right now i love it
Thank you Casey! That’s a great compliment! Maine is beautiful 💚🏕🛶
I grew up in Maine also listening to the loons at nite on Long Lake. I miss being there as now live on the west coast. Thank you.
We moved to Maine last May, and camped at Mooselookmeguntic Lake in June - heard this all night. It was fantastic.
A scary yet beautiful noise I find loons to sound quite relaxing to listen to 😌🦆🎶🎵🎧🌅
Now it’s perfect! Love this
Thank you for the great advice 👍
Lol
My southern friends: You listen to this to RELAX?
Me: *transported to the ADK Mtns*
Yup only another Northerner understands 😁
The truth, we northerners are truly a hardier less cocky bunch of wilderness dwellers then our poser southern counter parts. We actually have more country then them but don't tell them that. We're better woodsmen, realer more humble people. Less intense, less insane. Won the damn war that we clearly were in God's right to do but never talk about it. Better shooters, archers, fishermen boaters and hunters. Of hardier stock too. Mostly Czech, Slovak, Irish, Polish, Norse Viking; you name it. People who fucking worked from being poor hated immigrants to become heroes who had at least their part in building this country. Less racist too. Oh, and I'm the first northerner to ever really say this because we're also a lot nicer.
@@divinespark236 God I hope this is satirical. As a born and bred Adirondack woodsman, I don't know a soul who would seriously utter such drivel. That, and anybody who is from the Northeast would know that our stock is Scottish, Irish, English, Indian and Dutch, with smatterings of French, Portuguese and various others, mostly in the cities.
@@Whoozerdaddy I was drunk, and yes I'm aware how no one in the north thinks in the way I just did. Being fucked up leads to some freaking inane utterances man. I may delete it.
@@divinespark236 Okay man, do what seems best. I understand about saying or doing things you wish you never had.
Can't wait to go to Catherdral Pines in the shadow of the Appalachian mountians. This is the sound we get to fall asleep to!
Really beautiful ❤
Loon calls has become one of most relaxing anxiety reliving things for me..
Plus mixed with cracking fire.. Nice combination😚
I don't know why loon call relaxes me immensely, cuz where I'm from there's no such bird. I even discovered it from a video...
as a kid growing up every summer we'd go camping and at night I'd here the loons calling it was like my lullaby to put me to sleep I sure miss those days I'm glad I found this
I spent 5 days backpacking in Yellowstone’s backcountry. We heard Loons, elk bulging, and wolves howling every night; some of the most beautiful sounds in nature.
people are saying this relaxes them, but honestly the way the sound echos it’s kinda haunting
I played this kind of thing for some friends of mine; they apparently have no experience with loons ... the adults thought it was "kinda nice" (huh?!?), and the kids thought it was either spooky, or boring! I've often thought that loon-calls were 'haunting', but not in a spooky way!
Oh my this is definitelly the most terrifying and the most beautiful bird sound ever
Reminds me of my cottage in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Best nights of sleep I’ve ever gotten while staying up there. Damn this loud city. And this video is great. Not super loud but just perfect. Love hearing them in the distance.
Thank you Billy 😊 You’re lucky to have a cottage there.
I agree best sleep is while listening to nature sounds, especially loons in the distance 🤎😴

Growing up on the Chippewa Flowage I would go to sleep to this all the time... I miss it
I’ve never been there so I googled it, 🏕 it looks like my kind of place. 🤎🤙
Hopefully I’ll get to go there when lockdown is over and borders are open again 🙏🌈
This playlist is perfect, thank you! It brings back memories of when I used to go camping. I’d sit by the campfire next to the lake and I’d hear the sounds of loons, their song would echo across the lake, it’s beautiful. It’s been years since I’ve been camping, I hope I’ll get to hear the loons call in person someday again
Nice.......I'll return to this one lots.
Loon Call is my favorite call of any call so far!…😌
I want to live in the Deep Dark Starry Woods SO bad, with many animals making noises, and even some unknown cryptid creature noises👌🏼

It's cool to hear such an amazing loon call with people.... but if I'm alone at night hearing loon calls..
I would really wanna go HOME
Lol 😂
Best Sound for a horror Game like ,,the Monster at Loonlake,,
i dont understand how people can find the call of loons soothing. the sounds they make are terrifying. especially from far away.
I understand what you mean it's a haunting sound, but I admit I find it soothing, maybe because it reminds me of being at my grandpa's cottage by the lake.
imo. its just so f ing calming and beauiful
i mean its used in creepy movies because they're part of the night sounds of a forest, so that may be why, just like how people are scared of owls. understandable, but I love the sounds lol
they are so haunting, yet beautiful calls....it just gives me chills, and can imagine people back in the day think woods and lakes were haunted by spirits.
I agree. Loons are one of my favorites.
I'd agree. Beautiful calls, relaxing, yet melancholy.
@@amandafancy786did you hear a white bellbird?
I grew up in a neighborhood with a lake in eastern Virginia, and every day would sit on the bank of our lake, listening to the calls of the loons, mallards, and mourning doves... such a beautiful and relaxing choir....❤

Yup! That’s exactly the sound I was going for!👍🏕

So accurate man, I was up in pimush lake northern Minnesota.
Aye Minnesota here too
@kendall knight
I’m just north of there in Ontario! Beautiful country on both sides of the border!
Listening to this video takes me back to when I was growing up, and going camping with my family a ways from city life, in almost mid northern Michigan.
We’d have our pop up camper, late at night, the air would be getting cooler and crisp, with the critters running about either among the trees or along the forest floor, my sister and myself would be roasting marshmallows over the campfire and when we had about 3 s’mores each, we would be sent to bed while our parents sat by the fire - obviously to relax without the presence of kids 😂 - and laying down, hearing the fire, and the lake we’d be next to, was about 50 feet from our campsite.
Takes me back to the good old days 😕
What a beautiful story! 💚
Thank you for sharing this childhood memory! 😊
The last time I was next to a campfire was in boy scouts back in 2003. I was up in northern Wisconsin and we would like campfires like every 2 days or so and just have a group session with hot chocolate and we would joke around and tell stories and even do a little fun skit. This was of course when phones weren't really a thing for a young boy to have so we did a lot of stupid things as young adolescents.

Thank you for uploading!!! My anxiety is out of control lately and nature sounds really help me get centered and grounded so I can focus.

alright , anyone else cries when listening to them ? when i first heard this around here recorded , it didnt feel like something new , my mind recognized this as a pure memory being lived , ... but there are no loons in my land , this has been a very important thing for me when i heard it , sometimes something small can mean great things for one's soul

Thank you very much for posting this video. What’s the name of the lake in Saskatchewan you’re referring to?
Makes me think of summers at Madge Lake (Duck Mountain Provincial Park) or Emma Lake (Prince Albert National Park) in Saskatchewan. Most beautiful places on earth.
@@Jane-lf2fbI only live about 20 mins from Emma lake!
The fact that one of them was yodeling is scary because a eagle or hawk or something flew over it because that means something is near and is making it feel threatened
i remember being at summer camp as a kid and getting so scared because i thought these sounds were wolves. now tonight i specifically looked up a video with loon calls to fall asleep to. good night y’all ❤

Your Blue Sky Time I love maine too I went up there and (Idk if you are sensitive to hearing this) but I shot a bear up there and the first time I heard it it was just so majestic and they wailed and tremoloed and also if you look at my profile pic you can see the bear!!!!! 🐻🐻🐻and also, what was bugging that one loon to make it yodel because they yodel when they feel threatened or something flys above them like a hawk or eagle...
Feels like I’m right there! What’s that haunting echoey noise that sometimes plays
Thanks for the nice comment Mr. Luke😊
The echoey noise in background is loons, just different calls, I agree it is a haunting sound
Sounds like just about everything that isn't crickets or crackling campfire is loon calls.
They have both that rapid-fire chirping sound, and the long, drawn-out sound that is (very slightly) reminiscent of wolf howls.
That is a wail call. Loons have four main calls: the wail, tremolo, yodel and hoot. The wail you heard is basically to let other loons know that it is there, and they will respond with a similar call. It is equivalent to a wolf howl.
I finally found out the bird species name: Common Loon.
I've being seaching for this for very long time. -
It's also sings only on night in The Hunter Call of The Wild in Siberia.
There is also an " Arctic Loon" nery gorgeous. More luxurious in color. Grey ,silver ....beautiful., 💕
man i've missed this noise. sometimes during the early or late spring or summer me and my kokum would sit outside on her porch and just listen to the maang calling out to each other.
I want camping for my first time up in Algonquin Ontario on lake opeongo and i never realized how loud the loons can get at night. it was much louder than k expected. Thank you for bringing back the memories to help with falling asleep 😁

I grew up in a small mining town up in Northern Manitoba, and this is EXACTLY to a "tee" what I grew up around and camping areas near the town. But even when you lived in Snow Lake, you could hear that even out your back door at night. Our house was a two minute walk to the beach/lake (one of many lakes in and up around there). And so I am glad I found this recording, as it brings back fond memories!! So thank you! Nature is definetly in my blood even though its been many years since I moved away from there at 18.
One of my best vacation was in the island located north of toronto with these amazing birds an their fabulous sound , thank you 🙏💞
Ahhh, this sounds like being up at my grandparents' cottage near Parry Sound, Ontario! We often hear loons out on the lake late at night as we're going to bed, or early in the morning when the sun's almost completely up - if we're lucky, we might even be able to see them. As much as I enjoy living in the city, I'm always glad to get away for a week or two up north in the summer; we'll be going up again this year, and I can't wait!

When you hear loons at night on a lake (when in pure silence) it’s initially a lot louder and echoes wayyyyy more than this. Almost feels eerie when it happens because of how much it echoes throughout the lake and surrounding forest (I have heard many loons on quiet lakes at the middle of night).

Thank you. I am Canadian but have been living in Australia for 2 years. This reminds me of one of the best camping/fishing trip I've ever had in Brisco, BC. I miss the peacefulness of a Canadian moutain lake at night with the loons wailing.
Loons are such beautiful diving ducks, prevalent in Northern Wisconsin waters. I've seen, and heard them, did some fishing with a few floating a few feet out. They didn't bother me, I didn't bother them. Was just glad to have the company. I'll be honest, the wail is the only call of theirs that I've heard before. But I'll be the first to tell you, with extremely little to no light pollution, up north, you see millions of more stars than you see on this screen. I was fishing on Island lake, near a beautiful little town named "Three Lakes" a chain of 28 freshwater lakes. (Please go visit if you get the chance. The sunsets are beautiful. And they make their own wine from cranberries, it's delicious!) With no light pollution, at night, with bats flying acrobatically under piers, I saw a large section of nebula that was part of our galaxy, and I was amazed. Only once, have I been able to see that. And it's a memory that's been on my mind a lot lately.
Here in alaska, the loons are always calling (& laughing?) in the wilderness all day and night! but also its always so quiet at night since we dont have crickets...-which ive never heard in real life! haha all we hear is the wolves & coyotes & loons.
thanks for the video!!!❤👍👍👍
