Unless they come out with one that has a display like the dd1/dd2 i won’t be upgrading for a long time, i use the display often to change settings on the fly without having to pause and go threw in game menus or windows absolutely love that feature. I do wish they had more wheel options though. And not at ridiculous prices for the upcoming good ones.
Isn't the braking in iracing being realistic enough? Obviously I prefer the freedom of AC1, no pay wall, and ease of use in ACC but for real world training, shouldn't iracing be enough?
I’m a strong guy who loves strong FFB and had a DD1. I switch to the CSL DD Pro 8nM. Yes.. I downgraded… It’s amazing at 80-100%. I’m hanging on for life…. There no real need for 12 or 15nM unless your a freak for FFB.
I think they are going to either refresh the DD1/2 bases or disc. all together and these are going to be their offerings until they are ready to refresh them or the podium series they are on sale right now because of QR2 but I wouldn't be surprised that once they are bought and out of stock it says disc. like the F1 podium did
From what I have seen, most serious simracers, advise to turn off things like roadfeel etc. Because it's a fake signal/feeling coming through the base. I wonder if full force simulates this better or more realistic. I actually like it in most sims
Slew rate is a big deal and matters more than just the torque. I think this is why the Simucube 2 Pro is so much better than Podium DD2 despite similar torque. Think another video said the slew rate for this is 6 Nm/ms. This compares to 8 Nm/ms for Simucube 2 Pro and 5 Nm/ms for Simucube 2 Sport. But if DD2 was
think how long 1 millisecond is. There is no way you will feel the difference between a wheel that takes 1ms to reach the expected torque for a corner compared to one that takes 3ms. Slew rate on all DD wheels are fast enough and the differences don't matter, especially when you consider that most people add dampening to reduce the harshness of FFB because the base slew rate is actually too high for a good experience.
@@Monke636 According to ChatGPT: For a sim racing steering system, a 2 Nm/ms difference in motor slew rate can be significant. This is because sim racing requires precise and rapid control of the steering input to accurately simulate real-world driving experiences. A higher slew rate means the steering system can change its speed more quickly, allowing for more responsive and realistic feedback to the user. In this context, a 2 Nm/ms increase in slew rate could result in noticeably smoother and more accurate steering response, which can enhance the overall realism and enjoyment of the simulation for the user. Therefore, for a sim racing steering system, the difference between 6 Nm/ms and 8 Nm/ms in motor slew rate is likely to be meaningful and worth considering.
I love truforce on the Logitech Pro. That being said it still hasn't replaced my DD1 podium on my console rig because of the logi pedals and not having extra rims. So now I'm going to have to buy the new base (and some qr2 wheel side) and finally get rid of the DD1 and the logi Pro I have sitting around, on the plus side both of those wheels will more than cover the price of the new fanatec. And if it's really good I might have to go back to having one rig and retire the Asetek base on my PC rig at an early age.
Really what’s wrong with the Logitech pedals? This is my first DD wheel and I love it Logitech g pro wheel and pedals. Honestly i don’t see my self upgrading because the pedals feel perfect ❤
Nice preview! 👍 From one hairless knob to another, could you do a video about which kind of racing pedals work well as (make shift) flight rudder pedals? I, and perhaps others, are looking to upgrade to loadcell racing pedals, but might want a set which can do double duty as a rudder (clutch + accelerator) and find having dedicated rudders a hassle to switch between on a universal race and (combat) flight sim rig.
Its funny because people get stuck on the 20 or 25nm nunbers but dont realize just as you said it has that stiffer more eeight feel to ut. Even if only 25nm its like its aleays got center force unlike the dd1 which is why it actually feels stronger then the dd1. Also alot more detail. Irs pretty nuts tbh. The control you have over cars is awesome and makes it feel way way less underteery. See usuaply understeer you feel it get loose like the dd1 would feel that way the dd+ always somehow feels grounded like I have crazy grip compsred to other bases. Peoppe need to realize this 15nm wheelbasw feels like a 20+ wheelbase.
I switched from DD2 to CS DD and it is much better than DD2. Better FFB effects and very fast rotations!! The podium bases are outdated. Still good, but they look old, compared to CS DD.
Also, of course the Podium DD1/DD2 are dead, that is why they are now being heavily discounted. I imagine the new Podiums will look like the Clubsport DD or CSL DD but just be longer and obviously have more torque. Kind of like the old saying about BMWs: same sausage, different lengths! I would definitely not buy the old podiums right now!
Hi thank you for your video, did you had the opportunity to test DD and DD+? in your opinion does the 300€ difference worth the 3 NM? which one do you advice for PC player? thanks
Can you change the QR2 to a QR1 as i own quite a few wheels with the QR1 and changing all of them to a QR2 Quick release will be a massive roadstop foe me considering this wheel
U dont understand the fullforce feedback, its haptic feedback like trueforce from logitech, it replaces the vibration motors in fanatec wheels. It provides extra immersion, it can even provide fine details like engine vibration, its not a gimmick, its realistic stuff, fanatec is working with game developers of iracing, assetto corsa, gran turismo to implement it properly.
1:02 this is NOT true. The motor in the Podium DD is different tech, but not worse. It's an Outrunner motor vs the Inrunner motor used on the CS DD. Both have their advantages and disadvantages but none is "better". Also the Slewrate of the Podium DD is still (much) higher / faster when it's used with 100% FFB strength.
From the perspective of simracing it is true , the csldd and ddpro also arguably have a better motor than the podium specific for simracing as well (outside of strength) Due to aspects of the air gap flux density and the cogging and then power delivery and electronics + firmware design and setup. All of it is though effectively moot as the limitations are with the SIM software and the differences between the DD wheels are negligible compared to the difference you get from a games tire model + FFB implimentation. But yes in totality the club sport DD motor produces a smother and more responsive ffb with less filter needed giving more detail than the podium. The main thing needed to drive from though are ranges in sustained load and enough slew rate combined with rotational speed to stay 1-1 with the simulated car which as I say all DD wheels do quite well even the very first DD's Slew rate at lower power is also probably appealing to lots of people as you get more responses without having to be the hulk 😂. Out runner or in runner doesn't necessarily matter depends how it's all configured physically and the specific electronics , firmware settings drivers game integration. I have every fanatec wheel at home from the CSLE onwards and have used them all for 200+ hours , I did use a cswb 2.0 for a bit and also the original Porsche wheel they did in 2000s. i also own an Acuforce , OSW and have used just about every DD on the market.
@@GamerMuscleVideos Hello, Please swap qr1 on your podium DD to qr2. and let’s discuss again. this is not fair. qr1 and qr2 is definitely different when it comes to ffb quality
@@gyujinyang2680 The difference in QR will be utterly negligible compared to differences between driving simulators FFB and specific motor changes in a wheel base. The rigidity of the specific wheel rim as well some fanatic wheel rims have some flex to parts of them ( formula rim with bottom cut out). Even then though it's utterly negligible relative to the components of FFB that are used to drive from.
Well this looks promising. Im guessing they will have hopefully fixed the build quality issues the csl had. That's what was keeping me from buying that base.
I’ve been sim racing for a longtime and fanatec equipment I have bought has always broken quickly. Also their customer service and warranty were terrible in my opinion.
Regarding cars and bikes, all my life i made sure to have a bit more power and not need it than to be at the limit so i do the same with simracing :) In my limited experience of 3 years in simracing i only had 8NM peak bases so i believe that 12NM constant force would be perfectly fine for most of us but my ocd in curiosity will always be left wondering how 15NM would feel :)@@thedude4795
More power is always great. Avoid clipping. But the issue I have is that that 15nm, 3 more nm higher than the 12nm version is on expensive cause of that console compatibility. As a pc gamer majority of the time, I do not wanna pay that premium.
@@T.K.9 The 15nm pricing does put it off quite a bit. It makes going to other brand like Simucube a valid option too. If someone chose to play on PS then they should pay for the privilege for a PS compatible product and not making everyone to share the cost.

My concern about these wheelbases is the mount stem looks really short and close to the base, yet in your video it looks like they have an extension on it. Any word on that?
Seems like Logitech have forced Fanatecs hand … Fixing quick release, Logitech have an awesome quick release. Extra vibrations, Logitechs Trueforce I love it! Now Logitech need to respond, currently they have no real ecosystem for their dd wheel (rims, handbrakes and shifters etc)!
Don't forget about moza, the few rims they have are sick, specially the formula ones, and their quick release is one of the best out there. They also just anounced their 12 nm base and have already a 16 nm one so they also compete in these ranges. The lovely thing is that there are so much brands that are doing really good and keep pushing each other, which benefits us the customers the most.
I have the Logi. Quality piece of kit. Trueforce aside, the single rim is great quality, and the QR is sublime. And of course Logi will respond, with new wheels, and maybe a price drop. I have the DD Pro as well - separate rig. The QR is junk. When delivered, the throttle pedal wasn't working. Took weeks to get a replacement. Fanatec supply, quality, and 'support' is an absolute disgrace.
@@Bambeakz that’s the problem why has it take years to fix a product quality issue, whilst making other more marketable stuff to make money 🤷🏽♂️ then charging existing customers silly amounts for qr2 adapters. Anyway competition in this space is good, will eventually benefit customers.
I'd probably go for this wheel base personally over the DD1 , IV not had enough time to properly test it and test it with other wheel rims to really say for sure though.
I would be totally pissed off with Fanatec when they don´t software-pimp the DD bases. I am a gen-1 owner of the DD2 wheelbase and so far I am very satisfied with it. On the other side, I agree that their wheels suck. And btw, I am not willin to pay 1500€ for the BMW rim. For me this is still a hobby.

@@RingoFreakingStarr surely there is a Chance but they did not confirmed this yet but only said for now it's exclusive to the upcoming new Formula Cockpits.

I just wish they told us how many levels of force can they give you? If you have a 20Nm wheel, and you can either have 0Nm or 20Nm of force that would not be a good wheel. But if you have 4096 levels of force then you have force in steps of 0,005Nm. I went from Logitech FF GT to CSL DD, and I must say I prefer the FF GT in Dirt Rally :D The forcefeedback is too smooth in Dirt rally, so it feels very unatural, while the FF GT gives you rattles like you would feel in the car going on gravel.
So its a DD pro wich is thicker and uses more power, made to compete with moza, and to sell the new overly expensive quick release. Well at least it means ill see second hand CSL and DD pro on the market from the people who always wants the last thing, since fanatec doesnt ship ot my country.
@@GamerMuscleVideos I just wish for the pc version there was a 15 nm option that didn’t make you buy the pc and console version that makes it even more expensive. Something between the two that didn’t cost 300 more. Maybe 150 more or something like that?
You can buy the 12 Nm if you have an XBox (you just need a compatible wheel - and they have quite a few, at their normal prices). For PS compatibility though, they must pay Sony hefty licensing fees (I guess much higher than Microsoft's). And then they have to differentiate the new Clubsport from the CSL DD Pro (more expensive than the PC-only versions as well). So I can understand why they went with the Clubsport DD+ for PS compatibility. That being said, I think the reasonable price should have been 900 euros.
Lol I was wrecked recording this , I get really bad fatigue at events like this, its a mircle vaguely coherent words came out of my mouth forget comedy.

Before you pre order just know that fanatec are taking over 2 months to deliver peoples orders right now and have practically shut down their customer service in response
In EU. Most other regions have no issues
I ordered mine 2 months ago, was at my house 3 days later (EU) . The big problem is that they use UPS and that Fanatec doesnt give you a tracking number. So.. the package get sent away.. you have no clue... UPS will not tell you either... so the package is at UPS.. and time goes on and on... and finally, hey.. no one picked up this package, so we return it to the sender. If Fanatec started to mail out your tracking number they would have more happy customers. But I heard this late thing is more of a warehouse move?
@@AndrewTSq I've got my UPs tracking number but it hasn't left the warehouse for 3 weeks.
@@AndrewTSq I found it very confusing when my fanatec package kept going to and from the uk and Germany. Highly frustrating, however I did get a tracking number to track my package
No they aren’t taking 2 months. Ordered my qr2 stem and 2 qr2 and came in a week. Also you idiots have to pay for 2 or 3 day shipping because if you take the lowest price that delivery has no time estimate and they won’t help so learn how to shop
It killed the Podium DD and its got my finances in the crosshairs.
Mabe in a year, I'll "need" to upgrade from my CSL-DD.
Unless they come out with one that has a display like the dd1/dd2 i won’t be upgrading for a long time, i use the display often to change settings on the fly without having to pause and go threw in game menus or windows absolutely love that feature.
I do wish they had more wheel options though.
And not at ridiculous prices for the upcoming good ones.
good point. that oled screen makes a difference.
I saw you recording this at the Expo James which is why I didn't come and say hello. 😁
Ha 😂 lol I was so tired recording this , don't think it's that noticeable on the video though 😅
Now if we could get a decent Sim Game to try this stuff. It really is the only thing holding me back from getting one.
Isn't the braking in iracing being realistic enough?
Obviously I prefer the freedom of AC1, no pay wall, and ease of use in ACC but for real world training, shouldn't iracing be enough?
They're using some kind of extension between wheelbase and rim here too...
Yeah, never seen that extension before.
Gotta have that monster close…😵💫@@theonlyegg
Monitor.
Yes, motor shaft extension is a must.
Yes, it was shown for quite some time already and is used exclusively in their Formula Cockpits.
Some people really like to fight with their wheel base... :) The 8 Nm is perfect for every average player.
I have a 20 nm base and peak nm for an usual race is like 15-17 nm. 8 nm would be a lot less than i'm used to.
In iRacing it will be physics driven. No canned effects. Just like LFE/buttkicker in iRacing.
@hugovranic266 Ok interesting. I have a DD2 for some time now. Curious to see how they compare
Well if the new software is available for the podiums then at least that will help them feel a little better even if they are ‘old’ tech
@@Monke636 According to ChatGPT:
For a sim racing steering system, a 2 Nm/ms difference in motor slew rate can be significant.
The DD2 has a higher Slewrate than the Simucube Pro when it's used with 100% FFB strength.
You can't be serious using chat gpt as an actual source
@@Monke636 It's not like an actual steering rack responds instantly either. It's probably slower than any DD motor.
From one hairless knob to another, could you do a video about which kind of racing pedals work well as (make shift) flight rudder pedals?
James seems so happy IRL 😄
Thanks for review, looking good!
Hi thank you for your video, did you had the opportunity to test DD and DD+? in your opinion does the 300€ difference worth the 3 NM? which one do you advice for PC player? thanks
I'm literally in bed drinking tea watching this video 😂😂😂😂
Can you change the QR2 to a QR1 as i own quite a few wheels with the QR1 and changing all of them to a QR2 Quick release will be a massive roadstop foe me considering this wheel
yes
U dont understand the fullforce feedback, its haptic feedback like trueforce from logitech, it replaces the vibration motors in fanatec wheels. It provides extra immersion, it can even provide fine details like engine vibration, its not a gimmick, its realistic stuff, fanatec is working with game developers of iracing, assetto corsa, gran turismo to implement it properly.
2:50 lol, the reaction :D
DD Pro bases for Black Friday then !!
From the perspective of simracing it is true , the csldd and ddpro also arguably have a better motor than the podium specific for simracing as well (outside of strength)
Due to aspects of the air gap flux density and the cogging and then power delivery and electronics + firmware design and setup.
The main thing needed to drive from though are ranges in sustained load and enough slew rate combined with rotational speed to stay 1-1 with the simulated car which as I say all DD wheels do quite well even the very first DD's
Slew rate at lower power is also probably appealing to lots of people as you get more responses without having to be the hulk 😂.
I just ordered the gran turismo dd pro with booster back a week ago and it hasn't arrived yet. Should i return it and wait to order the new product?
This is quite a bit better than DD pro
It does look like the wheel being tested there has some sort of extended shaft? wasn't aware of Fanatec having such a product.
It was shown several times already, for now it will be exclsuive to their upcoming new Fomrula Cockpit.
I wish there would be a trade-in program for us Podium DD1/2 owners.
Just sell it yourself?
What about any new pedals? Nothin in this department? They did like few new DD wheel base and only one update to the pedals and that only in mid level
The look of that wheel in your hand tells me they dialled everything right up to exaggerate the wheelbase even though it looks unnatural.
I’ve been sim racing for a longtime and fanatec equipment I have bought has always broken quickly. Also their customer service and warranty were terrible in my opinion.
I cannot confirm this in my case. 5 years+ with Fanatec and all fine so far
DD+ sounds promising
Isn't 12nm enough? According to the real world drivers, wouldn't the DD clubsport be enough?
Regarding cars and bikes, all my life i made sure to have a bit more power and not need it than to be at the limit so i do the same with simracing :)
In my limited experience of 3 years in simracing i only had 8NM peak bases so i believe that 12NM constant force would be perfectly fine for most of us but my ocd in curiosity will always be left wondering how 15NM would feel :)@@thedude4795
simucube 2 ultimate at 35Nm is laughing ;)@@thedude4795
"Vibration Force 10,000." 😂
For her pleasure.
What’s up with that column extension, I want my display in the same spot
What is the extension on there? People have been asking forever for one from Fanatec but anyway, ya.
The extension was shown for quite some time already, it's used exclusively on the Formula Cockpits.
Assuming the one you have tested the 12nm version, do you find that you need more strength like the 15nm one?
More power is always great. Avoid clipping. But the issue I have is that that 15nm, 3 more nm higher than the 12nm version is on expensive cause of that console compatibility.
As a pc gamer majority of the time, I do not wanna pay that premium.
@@T.K.9 The 15nm pricing does put it off quite a bit. It makes going to other brand like Simucube a valid option too. If someone chose to play on PS then they should pay for the privilege for a PS compatible product and not making everyone to share the cost.
Looks good, The only thing I don't like is the short shaft on the Fanatec. I wonder how it performs against a Simagic alpha.
It is not all about the lenght you know..
the rig at the Expo had a shaft extension, can it be a solution for you?
@@Bambeakz ah yes, a true DD girl only cares about peak NM 😉
@@vsm1456 Not sure if Fanatec have announced a shaft extension yet but I'm happy with my Simagic for a few more years, waiting on the next firmware that's supposedly a big improvement.
My concern about these wheelbases is the mount stem looks really short and close to the base, yet in your video it looks like they have an extension on it. Any word on that?
The extension is used on the Formula Cockpits only for now (and was showed for quite some time already).
the kids laughing at vibrater 5000 :)
Given the track record, announced for pre-order this week so it'll be available on the market in 2.5 years
Seems like Logitech have forced Fanatecs hand …
Fixing quick release, Logitech have an awesome quick release.
Fanatec is working years on this new QR so i don't think so
@@Bambeakz that’s the problem why has it take years to fix a product quality issue, whilst making other more marketable stuff to make money 🤷🏽♂️ then charging existing customers silly amounts for qr2 adapters. Anyway competition in this space is good, will eventually benefit customers.
Ahh fantastic :)
Is that an extension for Fanatec wheels ? ? ?
Do you think this is going to be better or comparable alternative to simucube 2 sport?
no at all, simcube is the best for no flex, and drivers and software, ZERO ISSUE
900€ VRS Wheelbase = 20Nm and rock solid quality, available immediately
Been wondering how good are they? Do they compare to simucube , Simagic or asetek?
@@MRCroosingTootH as i said, rock solid industrial quality - will last forever! Good software, good ffb - 100% happy
Am I right in saying the steering wheel is new?
I'll never understand the obsession with anything over 10nm.
cause you are a noob.
guys, i will buy my first sim racing, could you tell me if I should buy this or the dd1 ? or any advice would be appreciated :D
I'd probably go for this wheel base personally over the DD1 , IV not had enough time to properly test it and test it with other wheel rims to really say for sure though.
Oh no. Another upgrade in my future.
DD+ has PlayStation support 👀
I would be totally pissed off with Fanatec when they don´t software-pimp the DD bases. I am a gen-1 owner of the DD2 wheelbase and so far I am very satisfied with it. On the other side, I agree that their wheels suck. And btw, I am not willin to pay 1500€ for the BMW rim. For me this is still a hobby.
Already confirmed that FullForce can not be implemented for older DD Bases because of technical limitations due to special electronics needed for this new FFB protocol.
Do you think 12 Nm is enough?
Please review Thrustmaster T818
HMM we need a new DD-girl then..... maybe a midget one ?
Is that a shaft extender on the wheelbase?
Yes, used exclusively on the Formula Cockpits (and shown for quite some time already).
@momorious any chance they will sell it or something similar for the new and possibly older dd units?
@@RingoFreakingStarr surely there is a Chance but they did not confirmed this yet but only said for now it's exclusive to the upcoming new Formula Cockpits.
Will this work with ps5 and xbox if use compatible wheels?
Yes
What did DD girl think about it?
So they basically caught up with Logitech g pro with their version of true force and a decent looking quick release system 😂 I already got the Logitech and i love the quality of it, I can wait for a gt style wheel ❤
And more compact and no fans, better software and more compatible games ?
@@GodrixXx not sure what you’re implying but I’ll say this, the Logitech g pro has a pretty lengthy list of games and the tuning software is just fine for me. I only play iracing so I don’t need to have every obscure game compatible as the major ones are covered. The size of the base is taller than it is wide but that doesn’t bother me at all, guess it depends on you. The fans? It has fans lol, it’s so quiet other than the true force vibrating my table which is inherent in my desk.
@@radiospanknot implying anything, Logitech G Pro was my top 1 in the list,
The compatibility is better and wider on Fanatec in general, G Pro is still new,
I saw in some reviews that fans can be a little bit noisy,
And for the size, it doesn’t matter much for me, it will be fixed on base, but thats impressive compared to Logitech one,
Seeing the price of the Logitech, and the one for ClubSport DD, makes you consider the latter choice, but if you already equipped with either ones, there isn’t much here to upgrade,
This without taking in consideration ecosystem
No expo in the states…?
No.
So no one is bothered with the fact that Fanatec left all of us qr1 users in the dark?
???? 🤔
They didn't though. You can buy the QR1 Type-F shaft once available to make the CS DD fully compatible with QR1.
WOW! Another base that you CAN'T buy! Thx Fanatec!
But... You CAN buy it?!🤔
As much as a love Fanatec and will only own Fanatec for the rest of my sim racing life. I hate them. I buy the csw and then six months later they introduce the csl dd. I finally break down and buy he csl dd and six month later the introduce the csw dd fml😢
Nice
Funny how fanatec have time for this but no time to reply to people's emails or send out orders
I know its going to be a great wheel but dont give us the bullshit that the peak force is higher then the Podium series.
It isnt.
"You want one for console? That'll be the more expensive model, sorry." - Fanatec
How convenient...
Consoles force licencing fees for compatibility chip , ps5 supporting one is 15Nm larger PSU
