When I read the comments below, many people are like what about Cambodia, Philiphino, Malay, and Indonesia food? Aren't they Southeast Asian? First, Tai- Kadai is the name of ethnic or language groups. Those people are mainly the people from Laos, northern Thai, Northern Vietnam, Southwest Burma, and Southern China. So, That's why they dont include other S.E asian foods. Look here..You'll find the answer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tai%E2%80%93Kadai_languages
Then don't title it South-East Asian because Tai-Kadai is not exclusively SE-Asian. Name it specifically Tai-Kadai because that's what they are basically presenting in the video. Plus, southern China also includes Hong Kong, Hainan but they weren't even mentioned. ChaoZhou is originated in central China so it shouldn't even be considered Tai-Kadai nor South-East Asian technically. Basically, they were presenting the wrong information.
And also no Burmese food. The Shan people are a major Tai-Kadai group of people in Burma and they were excluded in the video. Cambodia also had the Kola people that are Tai-Kadai, but no mention of them. Basically, there's limited knowledge presented in the video. The food is basically what people already used to know and eating.
crew Dude, calm down! This is just a video. How can they represent every Southeast asia cuisines? Dont you know that those food are freaking expensive. I think they already spent around $500. Dont expect too much, just watch it for fun
All CALM man. When you label things and make a video, make sure your facts are accurate. That's why you see so many comments regarding the other south-east Asians. Like I said, title the video properly so there are no confusions. Also, this is supposed to be an educational video, but everything about it is so inaccurate.
And they don't even need to try all the south-east Asian food out there. They are boasting about south-east Asian cuisine, they should at least give a shout out to all the countries in Southeast Asia. They claim Tai-Kadai is "truly" southeast Asian; but that is purely biased and subjective.
You should be quiet Michael because your making fun of other peoples food. What if people said chinese food is nastu, how would you feel. PS chinese food is tasty.
I love how you guys present lots of Asian foods! I rarely see these type of videos. Around my area (the Bay), Chinese and Filipino foods are ALWAAAAYS largely represented and everyone's always talking about it, and every other Asian culture seems to be ignored indefinitely. And I'm here like, man, Timothy is seriously the only Thai dude out there that's representing Thai pride, LOL. So thanks :p
Most Tai-Kadai speakers live in Thailand, Laos, southern China, northeast Myanmar, and a bit northern tip of Vietnam. Vietnamese and Cambodian do not belong to the Tai-Kadai language family.
Actually a lot still speak it. If you associate yourself with the Teochew community or a Teochew person yourself, you'll find that a lot are out there.
Well actually for the Thai-food section ... Tiger cry steak in thailand we have 2 stories to tell about it. First the tiger cry because the steak is so good and came from the best part of the meat and when people who get that meat eat it all so the tiger didnt try that good meat so the tiger cry because of the sadness that it dont have a chance to try that good meat. The second story is like that part of meat mostly have some toughness and tiger just cant eat it well so the tiger cry. By the way love your video as always. Great job guys.
Pad see eaw : fired noodle with soy sauce > mostly stir fired with 2 kinds soy sauce, light soy sauce and dark sweet soy sauce Pad kee mao : fried noodle with spicy herbs > pretty much like pad-see-eaw but will use a lot of spicy herbs like garlic, chilli, green pepper, finger root, thai basil
South East Asian food is soooo legendary! :) I have tried wide variety of Indonesia's traditional dishes (i'm Indonesian) as well as Thai, Singaporean, Malaysian, Cambodian, Vietnamese and Filipino traditional dishes! Most of our food is delicious.
Ikr! Like, I'd really appreciate if they gave us more insight into the dishes that aren't made with meat. Nevertheless, I've been enjoying these videos and I wish the bros keep them coming
You guys totally missed out the black pepper crab & chilli crab! Its steamed crab immersed with large quantity of chili gravy and theres a basket of 'rounded' breads where u dip in the gravy... so nice
yes!! LAO FOOD!! but unfortunately i know a lot of lao restaurants owned by a lao family is usually called "thai" restaurant. the lao culture needs to be more known!!
itachiateballs There were a few different Cambodian empires. The most recent was the Khmer empire. Which ruled a large portion of southeast asia, from 802-1430s AD. I agree though. They haven't done anything with Cambodia. Honestly, I see it as a slap in the face for a southeast Asian restaurant to not include Cambodia. Unless they did, but the fung bros don't have Cambodian friends? Idk.
Honey-G Dracaine Fung bros aren't anthropologists or historians, they are a bunch of douchebags from socal who's only knowledge of asian culture is foodie hipster bullshit, beer pong at asian frat parties, and youtube videos joking about asian parents. To expect them to have knowledge of southeast asian history let alone accurate knowledge is to have unrealistically high expecations
I used to live in Pasadena, the 626 area code! Every time I watch your movie, I miss 626 area!!! Rosemead! I used to go there to eat good asian food all the time! I still miss all those since I came back to Tokyo 6 years ago.
+hiphop909 you know cows are sacred and popular in the most parts of Asia? You better think twice now before eating a burger more than other cultures eating those animals.
This was such a good video, guys! Y'all make exploring different aspects of various Asian cultures very enjoyable to watch with your humor, charm, insight, and etc... Keep up the good work! Also, I'm def checking out Tai-Kadai the next time I'm in the 626. Thanks for looking out : )
Try some Laos food, I think you guys would like Laos Kao soy, Kao poon, Kao piak.. ( noodle soups). Make sure you add in all the sauces in the soups too. Try thai boat noodles or thai noodles too. There's Laos style papaya salad, oh yeah get some larp too.
I have to say that I love how you guys show hot spots, give the websites tot he place, dont waste any food, and are so cool about everything! Im so glad I found you guys and subscribed. I love the way you guys film your foodie videos. The explaining in different voice to the freestyle rap. hahaha lol who films though?
I want you guys to try Laos food since alot of ppl mention it here, and plus idk anything about it so yesh! and how about trying Arabic food.. its considered as middle east asian food xD
***** Hmong are considered mountain people of Asia. They are also refer to as "Miao" in China. They are similar to Mien and also live in Southeast Asians countries including Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. Do you know many Hmongs are being murdered by the Laos government? Hmong-Americans have been trying to spread this news. Fresno is in CENTRAL CALIFORNIA which is very far from the 626 area, where the Fungbros live. That's why I'm saying, people can name all the Asian cuisines that they want, but there's only so many in their area. They are less likely to find a Hmong, Mien, Laos, or Burmese restaurant compared to what their area's demographics actually are. Even Filipino restaurants are less common compared to Chinese, Thai, Viet, and Korean.
Great job Bros! Your Thai or Vietnamese boy is a great addition too. And I really gotta give it up that you guys left out Craig Ehlo in this video! And Elizabeth, Camile, and Erin should mos def do more guest appearances! On a serious tip, you guys really did a great job of introducing all the Southeast Asian dishes and their backgrounds. You guys have mos def sold me on TAI-KADAI! Next time I'm in the 626 from the SouthBay, I'm gonna pay them a visit!
You do realize we are both.......according to scientific reaserch filipinos indonesians australians and polynesians immagrated from taiwan to the philippines to indonesia to australia to polynesia so we are technically we are both. We fit both categories so either or in this case

It's more about identity crisis with Fil-Ams. Go watch the Speakout videos and see how they discuss a disconnect with the Fil-Am community with actual Filipinos.
I love your vids, but the "nem nuong" is a sort of processed pork meat you have on skewers. What you're holding is a "goi cuon" with "nem nuong" inside. AHAHAH
Leo W There are actually Vietnamese in the 626 area as well, that's why they have restaurants in that area tool. @Crew And of course it matters where they live, it's a convenience for them in order for them to be more exposed. So you're saying it's ok to leave out Koreans in a restaurant that call itself "Northeast Asian Cuisine" because there aren't that many Koreans living in the area, although there may be quite a number of Koreans who live in that area. Where I'm from, there are quite a few "Pan-Asian Buffets" around, but there are always Chinese and Japanese food served in those places, rarely anything from Korea although the restaurant is located in a pretty equally numbered populations of Chinese, and Koreans, and Japanese make up only a small number in the area. I love your fungbros food series. It really exposes all the Asian cultural nuances that differentiate each Asian cuisine.
Can you guys do a sushi video?
Yea! Do a sushi one!
Yi Hong Huang A Sushi restaurant owned by actual Japanese, not Koreans! lol

Cambodian FOOD, Cambodian use to rule most of south east asia. So it's only right to do one for them!
When did they rule south east Asia?
itachiateballs There were a few different Cambodian empires. The most recent was the Khmer empire. Which ruled a large portion of southeast asia, from 802-1430s AD. I agree though. So in Southeast Asian food they involve Southern China but not Cambodia? What?
because they are from the 626, Cambodians live in Long Beach!!!!!
Cambodians are still southeast asians. It doesn't matter which area you live.
And also Vietnamese ppl live in Westminster
Leo W There are actually Vietnamese in the 626 area as well, that's why they have restaurants in that area tool.
@Crew And of course it matters where they live, it's a convenience for them in order for them to be more exposed. All that food looked so delicious! I'm going to have to try out that restaurant!

people generalize...heck when people say "Asia" they are mostly referring to just China, Korea, and Japan.
But the title said. SOUTHEAST ASIAN
somneang say Blame the restaurant. They only featured ONE.
Even if you were going to argue for Southeast Asian, most of their videos take place in the 626 area or Southern California. So because they claim "Asian" they have to name every single Asian country and their ethnic groups as well? Mind you, there is West Asia, South Asia, and North Asia (Russia) that has yet to even completely be mentioned. That in itself shows how limited their choices are. How many people here are arguing for Hmong or Mien food? which in fact those ethnic groups also come from Southeast Asian countries as well.
Omg Andrew just stated my country "Laos", my heart is stomping so hard now 0.0
