Every time I feel like I am struggling financially, I just tune in to the Ramsey show and come away feeling much better after listening to some of these callers.
I have been listening to the Dave Ramsey show for many years. I used to listen while I was commuting to and from work. Now I listen to the shows on Utube. I have noticed that many times the hosts are not listening to the caller and they misunderstand and misquote the caller. At times they seam to want to move on to the next caller. Just an observation I like the show and it helps people. Keep up improving.
Yeah I’ve commented in some show before where I notice this, like they don’t get the whole picture or a complete advice, like the girl living in her parents house making 36k a year with a 27k car loan, she also needs to try to increase her income
I loved Jade's reference on cars - years back I've got leased 4y old super-mini for city commute for ~5000 (brand new was between 12-15k) invest about 200-300 per year for tiny upgrades, but it runs as new! No issues at all, nothing to worry about and I've got it for 30% of MRP if you think about that. Not to mention how little I care if someone bangs my doors at parking lot 😂 Just do a pre-check and go for low mileage - don't worry on used cars
OK, Dave, you just gave a rant about the average student loan of $55,000 - but we just had a call from someone in debt who bought a $50,000 CAR!!! I'm going on my rant that cars are keeping people broke!
The issue with telling people to buy low end cars with cash is most can't fix them there selves so it ends up costing 10s of thousands I'm repair bills. I think the advise in paying cash for a car should include a warning that a used car will require maintenance and repairs. Which could take away from an emergency fund.
Yes, I went down that road once and ended up with a low mileage used car that was in the shop for more than 3 months out of the year. I regretted that decision and ended up losing thousands in repair bills and in the sale
I don't think the Mom was willing to wait that long for what was HER mistake in setting up the arrangement. She assumed - and you know what ASSUME means!
@ 14min.(husband, who made low/no income and wife, who made 400K a year). I had something like this happen..so I suggested to split the bills in half and told him whatever he makes over his half he keeps. He was on unemployment for five months every year because of weather conditions, and he bought a snow plow for his truck front bumper and ended up making Buku bucks. It was good for both of us. So some kind of encouragement is needed there.
I will be able to actually invest when im 30. I have been so bummed by this but now im seeing it as an exciting thing & actually digging myself out of the hole. I never imagined myself in this situation, its so different from the principles i started out with for myself- from tens of thousands in savings to even more in debt. Ugh! But it will be over relatively soon. I will be able to get out of it faster than i got into it. Single disabled mom but i know it can be done

I don't understand the thought process of refinancing to get a larger payment UNLESS they give you a huge break on APR %. You can still pay extra each month and it go directly to the principal to pay it off faster. you can do the same with your home too.
I wish these hosts would understand that "freedom" is not the calling card they think it is. That is not particularly motivating for people in debt. When a family has an income of more than $150,000 take-home pay and is used to spending all that money, what is DEVASTATING is if one of the earners loses a job or - God forbid - becomes disabled. So, it's not for FREEDOM that you get out of debt, it's for SECURITY before something serious happens and you lose everything! Pay off your debts and learn to live on less in case one day, through no fault of your own, you actually have to.
Re Brittney - it's hard to pull back with 4 kids who have become accustomed to living a certain way. Less than 10% of American families make your level of income. Your family needs a visual - make a huge thermometer on the wall and put blue electric strips across, each of them with a certain dollar amount, and pull them off as you pay down the debt. You need a buy-in from EVERYONE in the family to get this debt paid off.
I wish when they talk about renting they specify that while renting you get the cheapest thing it’s acceptable for you in your situation. That way you can save for a future home
Are you really a single mom if you have help half time? It makes it sound like a person OSS doing everything alone. I don’t understand how making 81000 a year there’s no extra money to go towards debt unless it’s bc of living way beyond means when having debt. We hear on the show that things with motors and wheels shouldn't be more than half of ones annual income. We also hear that one shouldn't buy a new car unless their net worth is more than 1 million. If someone has a networth of a million, and makes $75,000 they can a buy a new car but no more than $37,500?
Good question. I guess it also depends on whether they can pay cash for it. Maybe out of the $75,000 were able to save up the amount over the year to buy the car of their dreams?
i think maybe the "motors and wheels being less than half your income" rule applies if you're not yet a net worth millionaire? if you are a millionaire making 75k a year, with no debt, and can buy a car in cash.... why limit yourself? but if you are in debt, or not yet a millionaire, it might not be wise to make such a purchase

Im not enjoying Jade's positioning or demeanor. Very unpleasant to practically every caller, abrasive really. Talking down to people similar to how Dave occasionally does, but her positions are never as coherent. Example - The 22 year old woman in Mississippi living with her parents... First, she explains how quickly she can get back into a more valuable car. Secondly, she's throwing in the concept that she must pay her parents rent for living at her home under the purpose of building credit / documentation for when she eventually goes out and rents on her own. How about keep $500 to $1000 a month partially supported by parents, being offered to her. Over a year or two, that could be between $6,000 and $24,000 when she decides to go out on her own. Or give the money to her parents and have a better lease application? No, that type of money is extremely valuable to someone at that stage, especially if they invested it. Short sighted not to address how that's being viewed between the young woman and her parents.

Did Jade say "peaceness"?
You are my two favs!
Why are so many men calling in asking about having their wife who stays home with the children to go back to work?
Re Brittney - it's hard to pull back with 4 kids who have become accustomed to living a certain way. Less than 10% of American families make your level of income. Your family needs a visual - make a huge thermometer on the wall and put blue electric strips across, each of them with a certain dollar amount, and pull them off as you pay down the debt. You need a buy-in from EVERYONE in the family to get this debt paid off.
I wish when they talk about renting they specify that while renting you get the cheapest thing it’s acceptable for you in your situation. That way you can save for a future home
True, but you also need to be aware of the neighborhoods and schools in some areas.
Are you really a single mom if you have help half time? It makes it sound like a person OSS doing everything alone. I don’t understand how making 81000 a year there’s no extra money to go towards debt unless it’s bc of living way beyond means when having debt. My household makes 85k and we live in a trailer and only pay lot rent until all of the debt is paid off and no new cars. There are other options. I think ppl are scared to give things up. I understand how we get into debt but once you see it you have to make major changes
Ok. Lemme get this right, the young girl didn’t go after child support because she made more money than him and yet things are 50/50 n he isn’t even asking for child support?? I hate this system.. because love how jade immediately trying to get child support from the man yet things are 50/50..
Heavy show today... wow!
Good luck selling that suburban. Look up dealerships for your year and then look what they are asking and look days on lot. Ur probably further upside down
❤❤❤❤❤
Would you consider an hsa account part of step 4?
Lovely Jade is getting better and better in this role!
I used to be distracted by her constant use of "look," but it's gone.
That's one thing the comments can do - show the hosts how they are coming across to the listening public. It can make them better in their roles.
So true, John wants to be more "likeable" this year, I like John but my only pet peeve is how he changes his voice from natural to LOW, drives me nuts. Almost like a fake laugh to me, just doesn't sound genuine.... But that is just me!! I love Ken and I see a lot of negative comments about him, to each his own I guess :) .@@Trustbutverify2651
@@KAinFLThat’s just his counselor voice. When he gets super empathetic and is talking to someone in a traumatic/ scary situation he lowers his voice. Most counselors do! He has such a gift with being a calm, caring presence when he is talking to someone who has experienced trauma. He will help someone breathe, tell them to count buttons on their car, clinch their fist and release. I’m amazed at just how loving and kind this guy is. The fact he can talk with someone for 15 minutes and make them feel safe, calm, and heard is such a gift. Love, love Delony! ❤
@kainFL This 👍🏻
3:40 this car or van or whatever you're calling it lol. Sums up about what most ppl see when they look at other ppl driving
Fuck it, I’m 42k in debt, $6.72 in my pocket, no bank account. Unemployed, live in my mom’s living room, vehicle about to be repo’d. no dreams or hopes, just pills & smokes & the occasional blow, just impatiently waiting to die, fuck life, it’s garbage!!!
Jade always looks fabulous! And John is trying to look like Steve Jobs wearing black always...
Jacob - you are WAY over the line if you think it's up to you to talk to your wife's boss. There should be plenty of jobs in Dallas! Time for her to switch out.
Since Chantelle did her 401k distribution in 24 she can roll it to an ira within 60 days. Hurry up and sell that car and put the 15k in an ira so it wont be taxable!
I want a 4runner ill trade any1 any make model and color. I'll give you 2k cash, one 35 gallon aquarium, and you can keep my mother inlaw.
Why is it always the MIL? I'll keep mine - you can have my FIL!
i don't have one but i'll tell anyone i see who does! 😂
😂
John “Box of Farts” Delony
She’s making $400K and he has a “hobby” and doesn’t contribute??? 😂😂😂😂 the writing is on the wall!!!!

Jill, you certainly know your husband's SSN - why haven't you been checking both your credit reports? FREEZE THE CREDIT FOR BOTH OF YOU. Whose credit card use was already what you cashed out your retirement for - his or yours? Fool you once, it's on him. Fool you twice - it's on you.
Her husband needs professional help ASAP. With pill and online gambling addictions combined, he's most likely depressed and suicidal. I hope he gets professional help ASAP.
John perpetually slams the men and praises the women. 🤪
He's so quick to judge with very little information. That's the sign of a dangerous "doctor".
@@Nigriff Because he's not a professional clinician - he has PhDs in education-type fields like higher education administration. Most people watching the show think he is either a psychiatrist or a psychologist because that's the way RS promotes him - as someone who can solve every psychological and emotional problem. The RS actually NEEDS real professionals to take the show from time to time - a clinical psychologist, a tax expert, a financial planning expert, etc.
@@NigriffHe goes off what he is told. Until he has both sides he has to assume that the person on the email/ phone is telling the truth. Not sure why y’all can’t get that! He’s a trained counselor who’s spent years doing this, he knows what he is doing and is SO freaking good at it! Delony has the experience, education, and his own personal issues dealing with mental health issues. He hits the nail on the head A LOT and when he screws up (because he’s human) he apologizes! Not to mention, he has several clinicians and counselors following what he says, listening to his advice if they had a problem with it they would address him head on but instead he gets continual praise because he’s making a difference in so many lives. You seriously need to stop hating on John. You chose to click on this video with John in the thumbnail. If you don’t like him, don’t watch. It’s that simple.
$49,000 on a car loan? Yikes
@1:27. Weak, John. I'd confront ANY man disrespecting my Bride.
The Dramatic Duo 🤪
John "I can't breathe and I'm scared to death" Deloney
John says “box of farts” - so juvenile. This is a guy with a PhD? Jeez.
😂
It’s the best! Love his sense of humor. 🤣 He needs the light and levity with as much trauma as he deals with on a daily basis. Also, this is a guy with an 8 year old girl and a middle school boy so he’s around that humor on a daily basis!
Depends what the doctoral degrees are in... Corgi knows ALL about him - and allows NO negatives in the comments, so you will definitely get both a rationalization and your hand smacked.
He’s hilarious 😂
He's so intelligent but he's also a real person!
Where is Dave?
still on vacay in Mexico
Lol
Doing his taxes
Where ever he wants to be!! LOL He deserves it. I miss him too though. I love all the personalities, but if Dave is out for several weeks, I miss him.
@@dianem4188 everyone is lovely, but the fact is it's incredibly boring without Dave
Where’s Dave been?
Last week they said he was in Mexico
love your show but....obviously you guys aren't car guys. some of us hoarder...er collector of cars have a really hard time letting go. It's like telling us to get rid of a child, or as George advised a listener to just sell a horse. (this is from a couple with 4 cars, 2 trucks, and 5 honda three wheelers) But Zero debt.
😂 George and the horse
You have zero debt and take care of yourself responsibly and are not a leech on society (or or in the future) - you can buy what you want!
get rid of your car, it doesn't even know your name. hahaha
Callers were allowed to ramble a bit too much this episode.

This comment section is negative; y’all must be having a rough day.
Dave's getting old. Still does a great job on those ads though!
We miss Dave..
Who is we?
I get something out of every show with or without Dave.
John you should have asked the first caller if he was scared
😂
400,000 a year, completely unrelatable to any average
Will the live stream on 2/27 be recorded so I can watch after work?
i think so, just like how you're watching this one!
I dont care much for john!!!
You’re welcome to watch something else. I mean after all you CHOSE to click on a video with his face on the thumbnail. If not though, he appreciates your watch time and boosting of the algorithm! 😊
I love John!
I love jade.... john not so much.......
😂
Wait for the Corgi to pounce and bite! No negatives about John allowed🤣
I love John, he gives excellent guidance and advice.
Stop watching these shows as much because the ENTIRE SHOW is a big fat advertisement. Buy blinds, use our services, use our money pro and keep watching our advertising.. ridiculous might unsubscribe
It's still entertaining.
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508I only watch it for the entertainment value at this point...and the comments section.😉
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508I'm here for the entertainment value...and the comments here 😉
You must not watch other UA-cam podcasts. They all have a plethora of ads. Gotta pay the bills somehow.
It's also free thanks to the ads
Why does Dave advertise that he is in Nashville? He has not been based in Nashville in over 20 years. He has a beautiful building in historic Franklin TN.
Because Nashville is universally recognized. Franklin is a suburb of Nashville so it’s close enough.
He often mentions Franklinville.
It is common for people to say they are from the biggest city they are living close to. Reason is everyone knows where "big city" is. Not everyone knows where "suburb" is.
Dave has secretly been stacking up Bitcoin and Ethereum before the halving. Great move Dave🎉
🤣🤣🤣
My kid won’t pay me back lol ur kid didn’t ask to be born 🤷🏻♀️
Nor did he ask for the loan - the parent offered, and now regrets the terms SHE made.
