Surprised Utopia Mycon hasn't been mentioned in this deck tech...the thing is a freaking 1 mana Fungus that lets you sacrifice your Saprolings for COLORED MANA!!!
Hey! So I had the Mycon in the list for a long time, but as we were tuning, I just didn't need the mana as much as I thought I would. There is absolutely nothing wrong with playing the card. It's totally reasonable in this list, but for my version, I just...never really needed it. I know that sounds weird, it was weird to me too, but it's where I ended up! haha
Thank you so much for this deck tech. I pulled slimefoot from an m19 deck builders tool kit ( it was a gift from my brother) and I knew he could be something special, and you helped me make that so. Also another hilarious card for this deck is night dealings. Two black and 2 colorless, for an enchantment that puts theft counters on itself equal to damage your creatures deal to opponents. Pay its mana cost again and remove theft counters equal to the cmc of whatever card you want in the deck and you basically have Diabolical tutor on a stick. It can be pretty slow, but with cryptolith right it is a game ender. This is one of my favorite decks. Thank you.
Saprolings really hit me in the nostalgia so I was just as excited as you to put together a Slimefoot deck as well. I really like the unique way you looked at the Slimefoot damage trigger and it has inspired me to test out a few new things. Keep up the fantastic work and you now have a new subscriber!
for every set ever i have made a commander deck based on something to do with it. dinos for ixalan, eldrazi for zendikar etc. this was always going to be my commander of choice and now you have given me a way to build it that i like. thank you good sir.
When I started with magic I watched your videos Wich helped me a lot! Then I took a pause and now I'm watching your stuff again, and boy oh boy is it good!
As a player who started in Fallen Empires *shudder*, the Saproling theme has always had a great nostalgia factor for me. At Dominaria Pre-Release I got a Slimefoot Promo so I had already felt like I won :D Built a Commander deck (much like Wedge's here) and it's pretty good. Not in a major competitive meta but it can certainly hold it's own and take over if left unchecked, and doesn't feel like a Ghave helmed tokens deck. Razaketh, the Foulblooded is another great win-con for the deck (well, he tutors your other win-cons really)
i was busy building this deck and was coming to a lot of the same cards you put in. Then you pointed out slimefoot deals damage (i know, i know. reading the card explains the card). I am so used to black cards causing lifeloss i didn't even consider to abuse the fact that it's damage. Time to revamp a bit and thanks for this awesome deck tech!!
The old school player in me also recommends Night Soil (munch through your opponent's graveyard to make Saps), Thorn Thallid (build counters to do direct damage to a target), Fungal Bloom (Mana dump to add more counters to a fungus), and Feral Thallid (6/3 with Regenerate). These are all from Fallen Empires, a very weak set back in the day, but now valued in Commander! Great video, thanks!
One tip for when you use Nemata, Grove Guardian: all else being equal, you maximise the combat damage dealt by saprolings if you sacrifice saprolings to with her ability until each one has power equal to the number of saprolings you control. (this is not always possible, but you want the number of saprolings and the power of each saprolings to differ by at most 1).
This list is really great, but I definitely think cards like Necrogenesis should be considered. Very cheap way to create saps, especially with Altar of Dementia out, and it might help reduce graveyard shenanigans too! Another fantastic card is Growing Rites of Itlimoc, if you reveal a creature from the top 4 of your library it goes into the hand for 2 and a green, then before your turn fully Growing Rites becomes a land that taps for green, or 1 green for EVERY creature you control! Crazy with this deck. Tragic Slip is also a fantastic removal spell in this deck as it's an instant dealing -13/-13 for 1 black if you sack a sap, getting around indestructible too! There are way more cards to consider in this deck too, all up to the player. Personally I like a few more spore counter effects and proliferate effects, but it all depends on what you like.
I just built my own version of this deck since I do not own all the cards currently. I am going to be doing a test run in 5 min over it but so far this is my favorite commander deck i have
Love the deck tech video! As soon as I saw Slimefoot I knew I had a new fungus Commander to replace Thelon! Some very nice choices in your deck, slightly different than the one I'm still brewing. Lots of good ideas to help strengthen mine though! Thanks for making such an awesome deck tech!
If someone could help me understand. at 12:18, wedge talks about the combo the combo of sporemound + Life and limb and says: "just break the loop by putting a couple of sacrifices on the stack" I don't understand how that would break the loop. Thanks!
I still believe Ghave is still stronger because he opens you up to another color and with black you have enough tutors to make slime the pseudo commander and always have access to him
Yeah true true, you two have good points, but i dunno. My group hates out commanders A LOT so it could just be me from a point of view of that slimefoot costs 2 less to cast. Either way i absolutly run slimefoot in my ghave (not like the stowaway is an expensive card anyway.) But when im thinking about what cards the deck has that actually use white, in my build at least, its annointed procesion and i cant think of anything else of the top of my head... but then again saporling decks love their token doublers.
Dominaria strictly made saprolings better. Slimefoot along with other cards found a home in my Ghave, Guru of Spores Deck. If we really want to be nastier for saproling uses Razaketh, the Foulblood for your diabolic needs. I'm glad I kept Ghave since day one construction. Next step is getting the schemes for archenemy fun.
Slimefoot is one of those Commanders that I would totally build if I hadn't already been playing Rube-Goldberg Ghave with over 50 combos already present in the deck, lol. Slimefoot is easily my favorite uncommon legendary from Dominaria.
Slimefoot can be further busted by recently printed cards. Bolas's citadel and wilderness reclaimation are excellent "fair" techniques, but far more importantly you neglected the very concept of an infinite mana generation combo. If you have infinite mana, Slimefoot gives you infinite 1/1s and a sac outlet will end the game. You also missed out on pitiless plunderer and every other death trigger synergy that golgari has under the surface. Slimefoot is definitely worth revisiting. Because you will always have a place to dump your mana, slimefoot is a great answer to decks that rely on artifacts and enchantments sticking around, and even in some cases can shut down creature based strategies with liliana's triumph, dictate of erebos and grave pact.
Wedge you beautiful genius, Slimefoot was broken already, but you've made him more broken by allowing him and all these little Saprolings win the game by INFECT!!! And even a MILL option too?!?! SLIMEFOOT IS DISGUSTING AND GROSS! I LOVE IT!!!
I'm a gigantic fan of the tainted lands. Tainted woods are amazing in any golgari deck. Also, I love slimefoot, and got some interesting things from this decktech to adapt on my own list. Didn't consider the "deal damage do X" effects on his ability, only thing I thought of was lifelink and that seemed very meh.
This is a sweet build! My Slimefoot deck has been running kind of sluggish! Def gonna add some new cards to it! This should def help it speed up a bit!
I continue to revisit this deck idea and to tweek my build. I based it about 90% off of your list as a starting point. Waiting to invest int he higher end staples that help this deck (Doubling Season, etc.). Would like to report back and let you know how it does!
Awesome deck Wedge! I think Grave Pact is probably more important than Paradox Engine so thats something I probably would have swapped in the upgrades section
Little heart ❤ I'm going to proxy this deck out because I have played with my buddies Ghave deck a bunch of times and its fun. This looks fun. I like token shenanigans
I might have to make this. I pulled 2 slimefoots (slimefeet?) already and have been wanting to do a saproling deck for a while now. Awesome deck tech, it looks like a blast. 💚🖤
❤️ perfect timing! This was on the to do list for today! I also I already had two thirds of those cards in mind for the deck so, again, perfect! thx, great deck! ❤️
Great deck tech as always! I’ve been having a blast with this deck lately. I like some of the cards you mentioned and will have to test out the alternate win-con in infect.
Would you add the new Golgari enchanment that everyone is dumping on from m20? Muldervine Reclamation. Also I used Song of Freyalise for mana ramp and big swing free attacks but I assume you don't need the mana. No posin tip archer for extra pings and at least some anti flyer blocking? Other than dictate how does this deck deal with flyers?
One thing I don't get is the Skullclamp. Wouldn't all the anthem effects make it impossible for you to get use out of it? You equip as a sorcery so you can't outspeed the anthems.
I'm pretty new to magic ( like 3 months new). The gaming store plays a lot of commander, and slimefoot was the first legendary creature I got out of a dominaria pack. I really want to make him my first commander for a commander deck. I can't buy it on TCG for some reason, and it is $258 on card kingdom. I really like the combos In this deck and slime foot in general. This deck might be to difficult for a new player, but i'm sure if I keep playing it I will learn it. I just wish I could find it for the 180-200$ like wedge said.
I believe that Life and Limb plus Sporemound are an infinite combo unless you sacrifice the Sporemound. Sacrificing saprolings with triggers on the stack won't stop those triggers from resolving, so help me out, what am I missing? Great video as always, keep up the good work!
Would someone be able to explain how to stop the sporemound + life and limb infinite loop? Wedge said to sacrifice a few things, but does that include sporemound itself, or is that not necessary?
This is one of my favorite Commander decks right now. I hope you enjoy it!
BATTLEBOND COMMANDER DECK TECHS COMING AT YOU THIS WEEK!
TheManaSource Love it! This is right up my alley. Move over Maren.
captain wedge, with the reprint of doubling season this deck gonna get amazeballs
captain wedge, with the reprint of doubling season this deck gonna get amazeballs
>cheap
>$180
Yay slimefoot
Next time your on game knights can you use this deck please
Sam Diamond ummm yes please
Agreed
Yes!!!
😂yeah give Josh a taste of his combo loving medicine!
Surprised Utopia Mycon hasn't been mentioned in this deck tech...the thing is a freaking 1 mana Fungus that lets you sacrifice your Saprolings for COLORED MANA!!!

Fair enough....just seemed weird to not see it is all
But you put Ashnods Alter in, which is kind of similar
ashnods altar just commically infinites with slimefoot and a token doubler, i think that's the only reason for the include
Ahhh that makes sense now!
Thank you so much for this deck tech. I pulled slimefoot from an m19 deck builders tool kit ( it was a gift from my brother) and I knew he could be something special, and you helped me make that so.

This is one of my favorite decks. Thank you.
Wow! This deck should be called "Damn nature, you scary"
That thing come near mah house, i keel it.
Saprolings really hit me in the nostalgia so I was just as excited as you to put together a Slimefoot deck as well. You went in some directions i hadn't considered, thank you.
Oh it’s beautiful- Director Krennic looking at the the Death Star destroying Jedha and you destroying your table and friendships
Love the video! The second Slimefoot was spoiled I knew I had to make this deck! It's quickly become one of favorite commander decks I own.
When I started with magic I watched your videos Wich helped me a lot! Then I took a pause and now I'm watching your stuff again, and boy oh boy is it good!
Wedge! Great deck! And it's FANTASTIC to see your smiling face again! Glad to see you're doing better, we missed you!

"The last thing you want in your McDonald's lettuce, is somebody else's foot fungus..."
I've been building a Slimefoot deck since he was spoiled, and you had some awesome cards in here I hadn't considered yet! :D keep being awesome Wedge
These cards are so cool!!! Especially love the multiple different artwork!
This is beautiful Wedge, I love it! I have a Slimefoot brawl where basically I just magical christmasland Azor's Gateway but this is much better
Sweet deck Wedge! I'm sure you're already aware of it, but Sprout Swarm also goes infinite with Paradox Engine because of course it does.
One tip for when you use Nemata, Grove Guardian: all else being equal, you maximise the combat damage dealt by saprolings if you sacrifice saprolings to with her ability until each one has power equal to the number of saprolings you control.

Thank you so much for this Wedge. I have been trying to make a Slimefoot deck and missed a few of these cards.
I'm really happy to see you making lots of videos again, I missed you in the past months but you are back! :D
Firesong and Sunspeaker please.
Cthulhu YAAAAAAAAAS
I just built my own version of this deck since I do not own all the cards currently. I am going to be doing a test run in 5 min over it but so far this is my favorite commander deck i have

WEDGE! You should do a commander Deck Tech for every legend in Dominaria!
If nothing else, think of the ad revenue you'll get.
Jumbo Commander is doing this! They're both cool cats.
omg challenge accepted
Especially hyped for YARGLE!
Wow 3 whole dollars!
Jack Seiffert Three whole dollars per video, times how many legends? It will add up. Not sure it will justify that many videos, though.
I made a Ghave, Guru of Spores deck that functions very much like what you've got here! I haven't gotten to play it yet but I'm pretty excited to.
If someone could help me understand.
at 12:18, wedge talks about the combo the combo of sporemound + Life and limb and says: "just break the loop by putting a couple of sacrifices on the stack"
I don't understand how that would break the loop. Thanks!

Slimefoot is a wincon in a Ghave deck. I would argue that Ghave is the better commander overall.

Plus, unlike Ghave, he actually *has* helmed before. Fugue is best pilot.
I was going to build a Slimefoot deck on my own. I may just steal most of this. So good.
I've been racking my mind trying to think of how to make a good slimefoot deck. Thanks Wedge!❤️
Dominaria strictly made saprolings better. Slimefoot along with other cards found a home in my Ghave, Guru of Spores Deck. SLIMEFOOT IS DISGUSTING AND GROSS!
I LOVE IT!!!
I know this is old but what would you use to replace Paradox?
As soon as I got Mr. Slimefoot I immediately threw him into my Ghave deck. So sickkk.
What should one do if they can't afford Paraallel Lives
and Primal Vigor? They are both almost 2 times as much now then in this video.
The most interesting and unique Golgari deck I've seen, really cool
Amazing!
LOVE Slimefoot. LOVE this build. Fantastic!
Sacrifice decks drive me nuts but this looks like it'd put a well-built Meren to shame. Great Decktech, Wedge!
This is a sweet build! My Slimefoot deck has been running kind of sluggish! Def gonna add some new cards to it! This should def help it speed up a bit!
I built a slimefoot deck a few weeks ago. add phyresis just in case you need a back up infect card next to grafted exoskeleton.
Love this deck man! I added a Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider and he does work!
Avenger of Zendikar goes with spore mound and that card that makes a land in addition to their types so more synergy to that
Awesome. Pls do more vids like that Wedge. Greatings from Germany.
I continue to revisit this deck idea and to tweek my build. I based it about 90% off of your list as a starting point. Waiting to invest int he higher end staples that help this deck (Doubling Season, etc.). Would like to report back and let you know how it does!
I was already making this deck but you sold me Wedge!
"Tendershoot Dryad is stupid pants"
I'm dying oml help me
What would you recommend removing for those upgrade cards
this actually looks like one of if not the best synergy in a commander deck ive ever seen
been thinking up ways to make slimefoot and just fell in love with your deck tech I will build this
I play with slimefoot and my deck is no where near this good. Love this video!!
Always happy to see deck-techs for the best format EDH
Awesome deck Wedge! I think Grave Pact is probably more important than Paradox Engine so thats something I probably would have swapped in the upgrades section
I really like this deck, and i would love to play it. It really shows that you dont need the most expensive deck to win
Minor note: You can play Sprout Swarm for free, because convoke can reduce colored mana
I know a friend who will LOVE this deck! Thanks Wedge
As someone who doesnt play commander, this does seem super sweet and almost makes we wanna join
Tap a green creature for the green Mana in convoke. Don't need any open Mana for sprout swarm...just a lot of creatures
Slimefoot looks like a lot of fun! A little sad that I already challenged my buddy to build him as a throwback already.
Little heart ❤
I'm going to proxy this deck out because I have played with my buddies Ghave deck a bunch of times and its fun. This looks fun. I like token shenanigans
Earthcraft is pretty good in this.
I just sent this to a friend who is trying to brew Slimefoot, thanks for the great ideas! ❤
Wedge love to see you play this deck against the command zone guys
That love and rotten mushrooms comment really caught me off guard. Nice one!
I might have to make this. I pulled 2 slimefoots (slimefeet?) already and have been wanting to do a saproling deck for a while now. Awesome deck tech, it looks like a blast. 💚🖤
Love it! Already had fungus tribal, but now it's actually GOOD?! Mind blown... ❤
Wedge as always amazing video.
I can't express how much I love seeing your new content from you!
One of my favorite vids - thanks Wedge!
PS - Life and Limb + Sporemound = infinite tokens.
convoke can tap creatures of the same color, to pay for the mana cost as well, so 5 saps is a free sap
Awesome! Love this simple yet effective build.
I absolutely love this deck. Wedge you are a genius
I'm Going to build this as soon as I possibly can!
What should I take out for Grave Pact and Elvish Farmer?
Love it! I’ve been playing a similar list and highly recommend Ophiomancer. Definitely my favourite deck at the moment. ❤️
One thing I don't get is the Skullclamp. Wouldn't all the anthem effects make it impossible for you to get use out of it? You equip as a sorcery so you can't outspeed the anthems.
I love Slimefoit!! I'm torn between making him or Ghave. How would you ad some white to this list?
❤️ Your videos are fantastic! I love your emotion when explaining cards and their purpose.
I have Elvish Farmer and Doubling Season in my collection. What would you take out to add these awesome cards?
didn't think of the infect or draw potential with enchantments/ equipment on slimefoot definitely a helpful inculde
My son's favorite card. Only used it in Arena but ready to see a full deck teck.
Ashnod's Altar + Doubling Season with Slimefoot in play is an instant win...
Slimefoot is my current main deck. It’s the absolute best!
I believe that Life and Limb plus Sporemound are an infinite combo unless you sacrifice the Sporemound. Sacrificing saprolings with triggers on the stack won't stop those triggers from resolving, so help me out, what am I missing?
Great video as always, keep up the good work!
Oh, here's your heart.
What would you swap out for the QoL upgrades?
I fear no man...but this deck scares me. Well done Wedge, well done.
Life and Limb with Liege of the Tangle is always nice
♥ Gonna build this, thanks Wedge!
Would someone be able to explain how to stop the sporemound + life and limb infinite loop? Wedge said to sacrifice a few things, but does that include sporemound itself, or is that not necessary?
Wedge, you can totally cast sprout swarm for free. The saporlings are green and convoke let's you pay the colored Mana.
