- Trying out the Revv G4 distortion pedal. I nominated the G3 pedal as being the best distortion of 2018 but now they've released the G4. And I have a hard time choosing which one is the best.

@@pdubadub5048 Hey dude! All customer orders actually have rubber feet. Most people don't use them so they are not pre-applied, but they are in the box if you want to use them. Do you have a G3? When / where did you order?

Random question. If I put this pedal in the fx loop, can it be turned off to use the other channels on my amp?
G3 - boosted JCM tone, G4 - rectifier scooped tone. Both are incredible gain tones for pedals that are more convincing/responsive than a lot of pedals that just sound like pedals

I just heard about the tsunami in Indonesia. Hope the Solar factory, and all of the workers and their families are okay. On a brighter note, happy holidays, Ola!
Well the tsunami hit the Sundra Strait area, the factory is in Jakarta (100km away). If they did get hit, it wouldn't be nearly as bad. That said, who knows where the employees' families are residing so still thoughts are out to them.

Happy to hear someone else getting the same kinda results I've gotten. Some demos make the revv G4 sound super thick. It sounds good on my amp but nowhere near as thick, more similar to the tone here
just got my g3 early December and now there's g4. but I'm pretty much happy with the g3 performance. thanks to you Ola on having the gear reviews.

i feel like i like the G3 better for some reason. Based off of reviews here of this channel and others. Not saying its not a bad pedal sounds great they yet again did a awesome job but i still feel like my personal taste is more to the G3. Killer review as always.
When Ola plays some Dimebag, you know he likes the stuff he is trying.
I love your demos because you don't screw around with leads. Nobody buying a high gain metal amp or overdrive pedal is doing it for the lead tone. You just chug along and twist knobs, which is all we want to hear.

You'll want a boost pedal in front of it. Honestly it's a great base distortion channel, but by itself, it's kinda lacking. I go from thinking it's just okay to being awesome by putting a tube screamer in front of it. The problem lies in the good quality of it, the saturation makes it sound kind of dull. The tube screamer really gives it that push to make everything sound crisp and tight.

This pedal sound like a mix between Rectifier and Uberschall! Remember Tremonti's tone! Really amazing.

Ola can easily do that using only one brand of amplifier. It's called a line 6 spider 5.

I prefer the red over the blue (G4 vs G3) but I like that it’s more based on what I like listening to these days, rather than if one’s better than the other. It just depends.

Revv says to put in the front of the amp. I’ve had the g3 and g4 and both sounded way better in the front end
I have to agree, just got the Revv g4 today, almost sent it back after sending it thru the effects loop and it sounded like garbage, I thought maybe try it thru the preamp in front....turned into a chug machine
It's weird how Revv's UA-cam page only has 1000 followers. Their stuff sounds amazing, I am surprised that it isn't more popular.

I thought it was Machine Head but I wasn't sure! Was enjoying the sound for sure will be looking into this pedal a little more, it a toss up between this the G3 and 5150 overdrive.

G4 definitely thicker, 'looser' sound, since I've already spent $3k+ on an amp, I prob won't go for the Revv Generator head. I'd prefer the tighter sound of the G3!
Went back and forth between your G3 and G4 demo clips. I don't know, I may be pulling for the G3. Seems a bit tighter to me for my tastes. G4 is no slouch though!!! Sounds great.

Both good sounding pedals, however I prefer the G3. To my ears it sounds a little tighter and less muddy.
That G4 makes the G3 look like child's play when you play it. Definitely gonna look into getting it! Love the video man! 👍👍👍

Both pedals (G3 and G4) are great for chug and shredding (they are very versitale)! They are just different! As you have shown G3 has more bite, tightness and agression while G4 has more pleasant thickness. What`s the better? as to my mind it depends on the guitar which you are going to use with these pedals.
I do like the low end sound of that pedal
