Honestly, the sniffer seems kind of pointless, should it do what I expect. It's just seems like it'll be a pain to get, having to go to an ocean monument. THEN hatch, THEN the wait for it to do it's thing. I personally don't expect it to be so sought after past a few months after the next update. But that's just me being a pessimist. I didn't like any of the mobs.

1.20 is the polish update, tying up loose ends and giving kinda useless things features: bookshelves actually work instead of just being for decoration, bamboo only had a few very niche uses but now it is more fleshed out, hanging signs should have been in minecraft a while ago and camels add a reason to go to the desert

That story about signs is so nostalgic, my siblings and I would always make characters and families and write them down on signs too (we made whole cities full of little stories that way). I didn't realize there were other kids who came up with the same idea ^^
The next update with sign blocks should be the ability to make them bigger. Like maybe combining some of them or like chests, if you put them next to each other they connect. I think that would be really cool so that you can fit more on a single sign
After all the big, dedicated overhaul updates, it'll be nice to have an update that's just about adding some cool shit to the game again. Brings back fond memories of being excited for all the stuff they added in 1.4.
As someone who's current build project is a hidden Nether lab that uses a bookshelf as a secret piston door entrance, and ALSO was literally just thinking a few weeks ago "Hmm, it'd be cool to make one room a research library in here. Kinda wish I could actually put books on bookshelves though so I could have written books in it," I am SO excited for those bookshelves. Very hyped for all of it tbh, those hanging signs are going to be EVERYwhere in my world lmao
I kinda wish the bamboo would turn from a just chopped green to the dry yellow over time, similar to copper. Maybe adding wax to stop it from drying out. We've got a lot of browns, reddish browns, yellow beiges, even red & blue coloured wood types & having a green version with a similar texture would be a nice addition I think. Also the bamboo trapdoors look very cool, make real world sense & remind me of kumiko style partitions.

YOU KNOW WHAT This is a small thing, but maybe, in the stronghold, they can replace the chests in the library with the chiseled bookshelves. So they take away the the empty maps, paper, and compasses that you find in the chests, and instead randomly scatter chiseled bookshelves everywhere, each with 6 powerful enchanted books. So out of the 233 bookshelves, 30 could be chiseled, giving you 180 enchanted books. Now that's a library. Finally an easy way to get enchanted books without dealing with villagers. Also, that would make it super easy to pull off a secret library room, where if you pull off a book off of a specific bookshelf _(or maybe a book will be missing and you need to put a book back),_ a door will reveal itself. Maybe it would lead into an armory, or a brewery, or a study filled with notes in books that teach the player something while providing a cool story, _(like with the ancient cities and redstone, but way more interesting)_ or maybe that would be the new way to get into the end portal room. They could also use the new bookshelves as the way to get into the hidden rooms of the woodland mansion. The way you find them now is clunky and weird, so instead, you could pull a book off/put a book on of a bookshelf to get to them.
Unlikely to be added in already existing structures since mojang is still focused on bringing new content and upgrading other biomes but that will be a cool mod to see
I hope they might make it so that different books give a different signal strength instead of it just being a full-inv = 15 redstone strength, so something like book = 1, so a max of 6 book/quill = 2, so max signal of 12 and then written/enchanted book = 3, so 5 of them is full signal
There will be more features to come. They are merely announcing features that are ready to be shipped in snapshots. There might be larger features down the line and they are just keeping them a secret.

Seeing Philza and his livestream go nuts over the update is so refreshing as there was a lot of people in the main live stream being so negative and mean. These guys are alot more interested and excited in comparison.

I think the fact that we will be able to test for such a long time proves that there are some big features that weren't announced. Archeology perhaps? All three of the vote mobs fit a history theme very well, new bookshelves for libraries, camels are in all the best archeology movies, an they brought up the idea of stories so many times.
I feel like a good name for this update would be the "storytelling" update, since a lot of the new features are about including more details to minecraft to improve/add to the creative storytelling part of minecraft Like, with the reveal of the chiseled bookshelves, my mind immediately went to being able to build a functional library and creating a story about the person who built and owned it, and got very excited! I really can't wait for this update

You gotta understand how big of a deal the chiseled bookshelves are to the redstone community. Each of those bookshelves can have 64 possible combinations, and by having a system with 9 of these, there are almost 600 combinations. You could make the most secure vault ever, and the redstone for making it wouldn't even be that complicated!
with bamboo wood if for example we get lost in the forest and there is only bamboo it makes it easier for us to survive because in update 1.20 we can make bamboo into bamboo wood to make a craft table

I like the update and what seems to be a very promising 1.20. Only thing many react on is how hyped that made last minecraft live about the other updates. But now it is very calmed, this update will be big snd I do hope we can add alot of stuff we want. Due this seems to be a improvement update on what to be adding on tiny handy stuff we all need. Pretty sure will maybe even be vertical slabs, and trees with branches and such.

i agree a lot but i think that many books would be too op. 1-4 randomized books in each bookcase and a chance to get 3-6 bookcases would be better.

I like the update and what seems to be a very promising 1.20. Only thing many react on is how hyped that made last minecraft live about the other updates. But now it is very calmed, this update will be big snd I do hope we can add alot of stuff we want. Due this seems to be a improvement update on what to be adding on tiny handy stuff we all need. Pretty sure will maybe even be vertical slabs, and trees with branches and such.
I’ve just finished watching the vod for this stream it was fun
I'm excited for future updates bc it seems like the newer devs really take the time to consider what we could really use and have fun with
