Hi Ron, I was wondering what your bike and I'm happy to know that you rode a Surly Long H Trucker. Great video again man. I am going to show your videos to my GF so I can convince her to ride the GRMBR with me. You are an inspiration. Keep up.
Thanks for watching! The LHT did well, no problems. I ended up getting an Ogre for this year's ride. It's better suited for the terrain and the larger tires and wheels are nice. But the Trucker is a beast and handles everything well. I saw lots of Trucker/Trucker type bikes out there. Hope you can do the ride some time. It's amazing.
Really enjoying your adventure. I turn 60 a few months ago, retiring next spring and just received my gravel bike in the mail today. Ive been watching divide videos, yours is the first route that doesn’t scare the sh*t out of me.
That's great! Are you going to do the divide? Perfect timing , with your retirement! What bike did you get? I'm.heading back out there June 23! Thanks for watching.
@RonSuchanek thinking about it, wife is out so there’s that. I got an entry level bike for now, Poseidon Redwood I wanted the Priority 600x but another tough sell to the wife. She’s actually very supportive of me doing something but she thinks that might but too much, I need a little excitement
Well Ron I have to say I'm loving this story. I love the humour and the people you get to meet up with. I've watched a few people do the divide now and I get the feeling my turn is coming. Looking forward to part 3.
I just ordered my GDMBR bike today. I decided to go with a fat tire, Surly Ice Cream Truck. It has all the mounting brackets one could want. I only will be able to do the 1st 350 miles next year, hopefully 1st of September.
@@pizaliasta8369 Fatbikes are in my view the perfect bikes for bikepacking, although you need to watch the weight. ICT can be pretty weighty but a great bike for sure. I have ridden fatbikes for years for every type of riding, from road to downhill to bikepacking. they cope with everything and are very simple
Probably the most humorous bike packer I have watched. Great video of scenery and day to day work along the route. Thanks for making my evening watching from San Antonio. Some day I will try just to see if you are on your second or third trip :).
Greetings from Australia Ron. Really enjoying your videos. Well done for taking on the GDMBR - it’s definitely on my bucket list, at least Canadian and Montana…
I met Zac when I was riding back to Banff after the BC epic 1000 race about 30 km north of Elkford we stopped and had a chat for 20 min he took some photos for me ,nice guy.
Great videos Ron! Thanks for taking us along. I’m planning to do the GDMBR next year. From Banff to Colorado. Exciting! Did you bring an SOS device? If so, which one did you take?
Hi Astrid, thanks for your comment. You'll have a blast on the divide. I'm planning on going back out next summer, so maybe I'll see you out there. I used a Zoleo, which I really liked. The device is less expensive than some of the others, and their features are great.
Yep! That's me. It was nice to meet up with him. My friend picked him up from the airport in Portland and drove him to the start of the TransAm in Astoria, while I was riding the GDMBR.
That’s just great. I wrote detailed notes of your great divide ride and Mat’s. I rode from Banff and stopped in Butte for a break, I got eaten alive by black flys while attending to a fellow rider who I needed to get carted out after he crashed. I’m heading back this Thursday with a magic potion that is supposed to repel those little buggers !
@@raymarks7430 @matryder is just as he appears in his videos- surly, ill tempered...just kidding. He's a great guy, funny and generous. But those black flies are miserable! I hope your potion works, and have fun as you continue.
@@RonSuchanekif the magic potion works I’ll def let people know. I contracted a university that did research and they put me in contact with a small co that is getting ready to market it… all natural ( something to do with coconut). Thanks again !

Loving your dry sense of humour. Thank you for taking the time to film and post.
Thanks for watching and the comment!
You sure get a lot of great video! It’s great getting to experience the the great divide vicariously!

Super cool!! Thx Ron!!

Thanks for the kind words, and for watching. It's been fun putting it together.

How is the jones bar? Im looking to pick one up.
